On the morning of 12/14/15, while taking my new car , that had 3,400 miles on it, to the dealerahip for it's first new car service I had a blow out of the rear passenger tire on the florida turnpike doing 70 mph. When I finally arrived at the dealership they examined the blow out and could see no damage to the tire that would account for the blow out. The same was true when I got to a michelin dealer who also examined the tire, he could find no damage that would support anything other than a defective tire. When the tire blew it broke the rear wheel suspension cover. Michelin refused to pay for the cost of the new tire since the blow out caused additional damage to the rear suspension. Michelin want me to go through their "claim process" which includes, but is not limited to my returning the tire. After numerous phone calls, explaining that being a senior citizen , carrying a tire to be mailed is not an option nor was the collection of the rubber that was left on the turnpike an option for me to collect and send, in the at]lternative I've asked michelin to send one of their representatives to my home to examine the remains of the tire onoly to0 be told that is not their policy I am afraid to drive this new car for fear of the other 3 tires blowing out. I want michelin to replace the 3 remaining tires that are currently on the car, to pay the cost of the rear wheel suspension which is $199. 94, and reimburse me for the $201. 43 I pay to replace the tire that blew out. Since tires are our first line of defense, my fears are based on my horrible experience. I need michelin to step up and stand behind their product. Purchased 4 goodyear viva 2 tires, from walmart on 10/27/2014, for the first few months they were great. After awhile I kept needing to get them rebalanced due to vibrating, they started getting louder and louder. Had to keep getting my car aligned every other month. Today on 10/22/2015, driving straight on cruise control at 70mph on interstate 376, I started hearing this awful noise, I thought it was a wheel bearing that kept going bad. Then the car wouldn't accelerate, and I started smelling burnt rubber and smoke coming out of the back. I pulled off the closet exit and into the closet parking lot, to find that the tire had blown out on the side wall. I went to the walmart that I purchased these tires from. Since I purchased road hazard they replaced the tire at a prorated rate. But they don't sell viva 2's anymore, they replaced it with a viva 3. The other 3 viva's on the car, are now wearing abnormal on the sidewall, walmart insists that I curbed them and that was the problem, when I know I never did. So they wont replace them unless something happens to them or there is a recall. I even had to call corporate to try and get the replaced and they didnt want to hear it. If it was a front tire and me going 70mph, that probably wouldn't have ended so pretty. I'm scared to drive my car with these tires on.

I purchased a 2013 Honda Civic ex equipped with continental conti pro contact tires size 205/55r16 h . I immediately began having problems with a tire loosing nitrogen pressure and setting off the tpms. I returned the car to my Honda dealer who could not find any explanation why the tire was loosing pressure. A month later with only 1500 miles on the car and tires, the same tire sidewall blew out with just normal driving. Continental tire will not warranty any sidewall problem as they falsely qualify all sidewall problems as road hazard. Now I am concerned that these tires are unsafe to drive. I have never had a tire of any brand just blow out a sidewall, let alone a brand new tire.
While driving heard loud humming noise and the ride was rough. Brought vehicle to Honda dealership in burlington. They said the tires were badly cupped. Needed to replace tires and get an alignment. Brought vehicle for a second opinion. Mechanic told me Honda had technical bulletin in 2008 for uneven wear in rear tires. The rear camber assembly needed to be replaced. Cost $250. Honda won't pay for it even though they were aware of the problem and never said anything. Add four new tires and wheel alignment and your looking close to $1000. If you don't get it fixed the tires will wear down regardless if you get tire rotations and blow out. Luckily no one has dies from this but this shouldn't be the reason for not having a recall. Look at the blogs, etc. Honda just tells everyone to replace tires and get an alignment. People do and keep coming back to replace tires. Honda has hid from this problem. I haven't replaced my tires but if I listened to Honda I would have replaced tires and been back again in 20,000-30,000 miles to replace tires. I should not have to pay for a serious problem that Honda hid from it's owners. Please help.

2006 Honda Civic ex 2 door. Honda has a service bulletin for a bad rear upper control arm. Over time due to this defect inner tire wear is excessive. This can lead to tire blow out. Honda is only replacing the part when asked. Due to this defect I have gone through two sets of tires, a brake job, and now need a new wheel bearing. Honda is only willing to replace the control arm. They are charging for alignment, wheel bearing, and tires. This really seems like something that should be a recall. Tires only lasting 10,000 miles before becoming dangerous is not good.
I have a Honda 06 Civic coupe that continues to have this recurring issue. The rear tires "cup", causing unusual tire wear and loud thumping sounds. This has happened on my vehicle at 21,000 and then again at 52,000 miles. Unusual tire wear can lead to tire blowouts. The dealership has replaced the upper control arm and replaced the tires, however, even after a 4 wheel alignment at 41,000, the "cupping" is still happening. According to searches on the web, many people are having this issue with their 06 and 07 Honda Civic's.
Rear tire howling from 12,000 miles on and were wearing very quickly on the inside which is not visible from casual glance. The tires worn down to a unsafe level and Honda has known about this service related problem for months and never notified me as a owner and I had the vehicle in there twice for service. The upper rear control arms were replaced at 22,000 miles and they refused to do any tire coverage even though the failure caused the problem. I feel this is a major safety concern as I did not notice it on time to keep the tire from being worn to a point of safety concern. I hope you can do something to help warn consumers whom may have bad hearing and may not notice this until the rear tires can blow out on the inside.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2008 I was driving from Mar vista, CA to san leandro, CA with my 4 year old son and 20 year old sister in law. We were on the 580 w driving in the far left lane at 65mph at 11:30 am when we heard an explosion in the rear of the car. When we inspected the car, the right rear tire was blown through. The side walls were intact, but the whole top part of the tire was not connected to the side wall. My car is a 2007 Honda Civic coupe ex and it had about 8300 miles. I purchased the car in July 2007. The crash caused significant damage to the front left side of my car. The car is now at a body shop and is being repaired in san leandro, CA. We have the defective tire. After doing more research I found that Honda had issued a service bulletin about uneven or rapid tire wear. TSB 08-001 on February 8, 2008. I did not receive notification of this serious defect because Honda is not required to notify consumers regarding tsbs. This defect is serious and affects nearly all 2006-2007 Honda Civics. This TSB needs to become a recall. All owners of 2006-2007 Honda Civics need to be made aware of this life threatening defect. I understand that tires should be checked regularly, and many consumers do, however, my tires did not give me any warning of uneven wearing. Actually, it would be hard to notice since my 2007 Civic coupe ex is not quite on the road and you can feel any little bump in the road. I was told that this was normal because of the stiff suspension. Overall, I seriously hope that this is addressed quickly. Many unsuspecting drivers, many of whom have driven Honda's in the past are not expecting this type of problem which can cause tire blowouts and possible fatal accidents. It would be unfortunate that a class action suit or the death of innocent consumers prompt Honda to make this TSB 08-001 notice a recall notice.

We were on the 580 w driving in the far left lane at 65mph at 11:30 am when we heard an explosion in the rear of the car. The car began veering toward the right. I tried to pull over into the emergency lane, but the car keep veering toward the right and we hit the center divide. The car was perpendicular to the divide. We were in dublin, CA near the tassajara rd. Exit. When we inspected the car, the right rear tire was blown through. The side walls were intact, but the whole tread of the tire was not connected to the side wall. This also caused the right rear splash guard to detach from the car and the rear bumper was slightly detached. My car is a 2007 Honda Civic coupe ex and it had about 8300 miles. The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic si. While driving at approximate speeds of 50 mph, the front passenger side tire blew out without warning. The next week, the rear driver side tire blew out suddenly. Upon further inspection, the contact believed the failure to be attributed to the manner in which the tires were mounted to the vehicle. The dealer advised the vehicle would need a specific unknown tire and an alignment. The contact confirmed the failure persisted and the dealer was unable to determine the exact cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000 and current mileage was 75,000.
I was driving my 1999 Honda Civic lx 4 door vehicle on a return trip from birmingham, al to atlanta, GA and about 45 minutes into my return trip the tread separated from the front right tire of my vehicle. I was fortunate that that although the 1/3 of the tread separated from the tire it did not blow out and I was able to get to an exit safely. I then proceeded to a walmart tire replacement center where I asked the technician if this was the first time he had seen this happen. The technician told me that this was the second time he had seen this issue within the past 2 months and that the other tire that was brought in for replacement had only been on the car for a few weeks (my tire was about 2 years old). I contacted firestone to inform them of the issue and was told that they could only take action if I could mail them the tire. I provided firestone the contact number for the tire shop where they could obtain the tire if needed for analysis (firestone was not interested in obtaining the tire). The tire that was involved was an fr 680.
I am on my 8th pair of tires with my vehicle. My tires wear out prematurely and cause heavy vibrations while driving. The tires get noticeable flat spots on them and the tread wears very thin on the inside of the tires. 2 years ago we became extremely close to have one tire blow out on us as it was worn almost through the entire tire. I believe this is a very dangerous problem that Honda should deal with. They have come out with a kit for the rear upper control arms that are "suppose" to fix the problem. I took my car in to have the arms replaced, first Honda regional service manager said they would not pay for the repair. Second, they put the upgraded control arms on the car and they still couldn't get the tires aligned properly, so thirdly I have to wait so they can order some after-market control arms to hopefully fix the problem. You can plainly see when the car is sitting on a flat surface that the tires are slanted too much. It is so obvious that if they couldn't see it at production, they should think about their hiring process. This is dangerous, and people shouldn't have to pay for problems that are caused by the manufacturer.
I purchased 2 kelly charger tires-size 215/40r17-on 10/13/03-my tires blew in June of 04 then again in July of 04. They blew once again on 10. 21. 04, causing a major accident on my part on 95 south. I lost control of my car and was run over by an 18 wheeler flat bed. Luckly I obviously survived with no injuries, however, I am filing this complaint because of the numerous times I had to replace the tires. The car I was driving was destroyed and I am curious regarding the liability of the manufacturing company. I have photos of the accident scene and the police report which has a statement from a witness stating that he saw my tire blow out. Thank you for your time. Sincerely,
elizabeth ponte.

I was driving on the interstate on a clear day. All of a sudden, my car started fish tailing, and I was unable to get back in control of the car. My car spun around 360 degrees twice, crashing into a concrete median. My passender side front & rear bumpers as well as my front & rear quarter panels were crushed. The rims were also bent on the front & rear passenger side of the car. This was all the result of a 2 brand new toyo tires, on the rear wheels, that had only been on the car 3 days. The new, passenger side, rear tire blew out. These tires were: p185/65r14. Due to the hood & trunk being shifted, the car barely avoided being totalled out due to potential structural damage underneath.
Goodyear dunlop tire blewout. While driving the vehicle's driver's side front tire blewout. As a result the vehicle hit a curb and went off the road damaging the front end and underbody of the vehicle. The driver hit her head on the steering vheel upon impact. The consumer request reimbursement from the manufacturer but was denied (dunlop sport 9000, 205/45zr17 88w sp high performance reinforced tire).

I have a 2001 Civic with 54,000 miles on it. The Civic came with firestone fr690 tires -- p185 65 r15 serial # w2fpf9h2500 (for 3 tires) and w2fpf9h2400 for the other tire. I still had the orginal set of tires at the time of the incident. I was on the expressway going about 65mph when the sidewall on the front driver side tire blew out. When I took it to the firestone dealer he could not find any puncture or other defect with the tire. He inspected the remainder of the tires and noticed that the inside sidewall on every one of them was separating from the tire. He replaced all of my tires free of charge even though the existing tires were almost all worn down. He did not prorate the replacement; just gave me them for free; in fact he gave me a better brand affinity lh30 (not hard to do). My personal feeling is that this tire should be recalled. It's defective.

While driving the right rear tire blew out. Consumer lost control, spun 180 degrees across the lanes into the left shoulder scraping against the guard rail damaging the vehicle. Dunlop p185/65r14 (ohio traffic crash report).
Left front tire blew out at 60 mph on the highway with only 82 miles on the brand new car. I had 2 passangers at the time. This happened at 8 pm and traffic was light on I-84 in connecticut. I was able to move the car to the shoulder and had it towed to the dealership. (tiresize: p185/65r15).
Tire blew with tremendous force while driving on freeway, causing the cv boot to break, firestone dealer examined the tire and stated it was due to road hazard, consumer stated there us a tiny hole that could be a nail hole, but is doubtful that is what caused the tire blow out,(firestone tires- tire size p185/r14.
I was driving on the 101 califonia highway (northbound) in an uphill section near agoura hills, when suddenly we heard a sound like "clack" twice. I was traveling on the middle lane and signaled to my right so I could pull out of the road. Then, there was this huge sound, and I felt the passenger's rear side tire blow up. I almost lost control of the car but was able to pull out of the road. Neither me nor my wife & 7 month old son were injured. When I got out of the car, I found out the tire's tread had separated and it caused the rear bumper to become deattached. I changed the tire and put the spare one. The car lost the rear bumper and had some dents as a result of the tread separation. I just bought the car a month ago, and the tires looked in good conditions. (dot number: n/a tiresize: p185/65r14).

While going 70mph felt like tire had a blowout. After stopping and checked the tire, noticed that chunks of tire was in bumper. Middle of tire tread was gone. No tread left on rear tire. Firestone, fr680, p185/65r14, dot w27j.
My wife's firestone tire blew on her 1999 Honda Civic and almost caused a major accident on i75. She is lucky to not have been injured. Also, her sister's firestone tire blew 1 year later on her 1998 Honda Civic while driving on another florida highway. The probabilities of such incidents happening to one family must be high unless there is a defect in these firestone tires. Luckily no one was injured but that is probably because these were not SUV's. Date of incident is estimated since it was a minor incident and no one was injured but it should be noted that these firestone tires may not be safe. Please also note that the make of these tires are unknown since they have been discarded a long time ago.
