1 Wiper problem of the 2025 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/11/2025

While driving my 2025 Honda Civic at normal highway speed, a small rock struck the windshield and caused an immediate crack that spread rapidly across the glass. The impact was minor and would not typically result in such extensive damage on other vehicles I’ve owned. The vehicle is equipped with Honda sensing, requiring oem glass and camera calibration, but the windshield is on national backorder, leaving me without a safe and properly functioning windshield. I am concerned that the windshield glass on this model may be unusually fragile or thinner than industry norms, resulting in an unsafe condition where small road debris causes significant cracks, obstructing visibility and disabling advanced driver assistance systems. Other Honda Civic owners have reported similar issues online, suggesting a potential design or material defect.

2 Wiper problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

Driver's side sun visor defective. Visor started splitting, leading to inoperative, and finally fell off. Replaced by manufacturer a number of years ago, but design flaw not addressed causing persistent issue recurrence. Multiple complaints have been filed related to this issue. Following are some of the complaint record numbers: 110884671041796510466838 110630431041670210466343 110395371041422810462119 109831981041221710461924 109710161041170010461699 109368151041080710457914 109285781041061610456750 108965601041024110456044 108888061040930510454884 108858631040937310448984 108632171040869610432332 108462841040941710432252 107168651040740610430111 106761951040741410430141 106386011040692010428110 105211741042513210427775 104781981041925910426693 104754451042547910426377.

3 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/07/2025

When I tried to open my gas tank on the neighborhood station to put gas it got locked and cannot be opened, the other drivers tried to help me and the station attendant. But to no avail I have to bring it to the local Honda dealership where I bought my car and it cost me almost $300. 00, the problem was there was no way it can be opened manually, one driver even tried to google it. Also, with this model, I received a recall notice about the fuel injection and tried to call the Honda dealer about the situation they always told me no parts available yet, but I am quiet scared because I don't want to get accident associated with the recall parts. The technician always said, "you are safe the car won't stop" but for how long? I also told them "how come they keep sending recall notice but every time I bring my car to the shop, they answered was "no available parts".

5 Wiper problem of the 2024 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

I purchased my 2024 Honda Civic sedan touring just over six months ago and have been dealing with an ongoing issue with the front driver-side window that remains unresolved despite multiple repair attempts. The first problem occurred when the car had only around 2,500 miles on it. The window began getting stuck while opening or closing, making it difficult or impossible to operate properly. I brought the car to the dealership, where they diagnosed the issue as a faulty window regulator. They replaced the part, assuring me that the problem was resolved. However, less than a week later, the same issue occurred again. This time, the front passenger-side window also malfunctioned on one occasion, displaying similar symptoms. I returned to the dealership, and the service team initially suggested swapping parts from a new Civic on the lot to troubleshoot the issue. Ultimately, they decided to replace the left front driver window switch instead, claiming the problem was caused by erroneous operation/"overuse. " this explanation seemed implausible, as the vehicle was only a few months old, had been driven minimally, and the windows were operated under normal conditions. Unfortunately, just days after this second repair, the driver-side window failed again, marking the third time this issue has occurred. The car now has approximately 2,950 miles on it, and I have not yet returned to the dealership, as I am frustrated by the repeated failures and the lack of a permanent solution. During previous visits, the service department mentioned that the foreman would need to inspect the vehicle, but this is concerning because the car has already spent 13 days at the dealership over the last 24 days for this recurring problem. The persistent failure of the driver-side window, coupled with the passenger-side window showing similar symptoms, raises concerns about a potential defect in the vehicle’s window system or its associated components.

6 Wiper problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

The evaporator core is leaking, which is causing reduced visibablility out of the windows due to condensation on the windows, mold-like smells from moisture from the interior cabin (it is available upon request). I took it into the dealer - they examined the issue (the shaft seal had just been replaced in April of this year) and let me know that this time the evaporator core was leaking. For context and why I bring it to the attention of the NHTSA is in early to mid-August of this year my ac not only took an extended time to get cool, it only got cooler, and not cold. Unfortunately, I am now well acclimated to the signs of a faltering air conditioning system after dealing with three like episodes on the same vehicle, occurring within 2 to 3 years of each other (the car isn’t even nine years old). In fact, this vehicle’s air conditioning has been in a rhythmic pattern of failing ever since I purchased the vehicle. Over 8 years there have only been a few summers which haven’t been negatively impacted by this inconvenience. Honda is aware of the issue, because they have offered "good-will" subsidies which sometimes cover partial replacements of these components. But, they have yet to take responsibility for anything outside of the condenser. Hence, the consumer is on the hook to pay for a vital piece of the car (not just the convenience) that removes moisture out of the car.

7 Wiper problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/02/2024

Ac compressor is not working causing the defroster not to work and front wind shield will not defrost during wet /humid weather. Honda's extended warranty bulletin only applies to the condenser not the compressor.

8 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/06/2024

Driving I-15 n just south of sr-56 / ted williams parkway ~10 am on a Monday. No large trucks near by, and pretty minimal traffic otherwise. Heard loud thud and shattering. Slightly retracted sunshade and saw shattered glass where my sunroof used to be. Closed sunshade and exited freeway to survey the damage. No injuries, fortunately.

9 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

Rear windshield spontaneously shattered while I was driving on the highway. There was no debris or collision. The car has never been in an accident or subject to any internal or external physical force or damage.

10 Wiper problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/10/2024

Ac evaporator has failed not allowing windshield to defrost and defog properly. It is know issue at this time ac compressor and condenser are covered under extended warranty but not the ac evaporator.

11 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

Honda won't cover my failing evaporator for the ac in my 2019 Civic with only 43,000 miles. The ac helps defrost my windshield, it is a safety concern not to mention the scorching heat we get in the California summers. It is absurd that this part is failing already and Honda has admitted to numerous issues throughout the ac systems of these cars but claims no responsibility for the failed evaporator. They do this because it is a labor-intensive part to replace and it is unfair to shoulder this issue on the consumer.

12 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/18/2023

Paint and trim are deteriorating and deformed, melting, disintegrating in 9 areas of 3 sides of the car. The car is only 1 year old. Both front mirrors are melting and deformed and mirrors difficult to adjust now. Bumper trim is melting and deformed. Windshield molding is curling up and deformed. Paint is bubbling up around these areas. Dealer inspected it and confirmed the damage and said Honda knows about since 2019 and this is happening to newer Hondas it but will not do anything about it. We are concerned about the integrity of the windshield to keep air and water out and front bumper integrity with the deformed plastic trim over it. We have pictures and videos, but your website upload function is not working.

13 Wiper problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/20/2023

30,000 miles on my vehicle and my a/c compressor is on-op, therefore I cannot defrost my windshield and keep the fog off it in certain conditions causing a visibility hazzard.

14 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/28/2023

Less than 5,000 miles on car. Brake pedal, when pushing it down, began to vibrate / not go down smoothly. After a couple days of this, my brakes made a loud grinding sound when stopping or releasing the brake. Normally brakes will start to squeak before you reach a grinding sound. Again, less than 5,000 miles on this car, so way too soon to be dealing with this issue. Wiper fluid for the front has never worked, even when full. It works for the back. I asked the techs who changed my oil to check it out and they could not find the issue; they recommended I take it to the dealership and suggested it may be a recall. I am getting it serviced tomorrow at a Honda service repair location near me. They said they will cover it since it is under the 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty. I hope that is true.

15 Wiper problem of the 2021 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

The windshield of my 2021 Honda Civic hatchback sport touring cvt has prematurely cracked in two places, inhibiting the frontward-facing view (and ultimate safety!) of both the driver's and passenger's sides of the vehicle. Neither crack was due to a chip or normal windshield damage caused from driving. Again, these cracks are not driver-induced and are not considered "wear and tear!" both cracks began at the middle of very top of the windshield, in parallel with the position of the front collision camera nd also near the internal rearview mirror mounting stem.

16 Wiper problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

My infotainment center has repeatedly failed during operation. It is distorted while driving, freezes, stuck on previous screen display. This causes all safety features to be inoperable. I can’t see the camera back up display. I can’t see the map or upcoming exit/next direction. The Honda genius features are impacted by this. My vehicle suddenly thinks I am exiting while I’m driving and randomly slams on breaks with no vehicle or object in front of me, it jerks my wheel even though there is no car or barrier next to me. I have resorted to turn off all of the safety features due to the infotainment center glitches making my vehicle very unsafe to operate. I have been in several near miss single vehicle accidents. Picture added to show screen distortion and no direction listed. Should be displaying navigation and upcoming turn but is frozen and distorted.

17 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/22/2023

Height: 5-7 - 5-8 whether condition: moderate rain road: driving highway I was driving between 50 - 57 mph on the highway with the wiper on. The water from the front windshield traversed back to both sides of the driver & passenger front windows in a strong gulf of stream, that blocked the visibility of both sides of the front drive & passenger windows. I could not see at all from both of the driver and passenger side view mirrors at all. This is potential safety hazardous while driving in the rain, and cannot see through both sides of the side view mirrors. This was very impactful in loss of visibility even on this experience. I am genuinely afraid for my safety as this rainy season ensues. This is incredibly dangerous and could cause an accident or possibly death.

18 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/23/2023

Steering wheel sticking when trying to make small correction. Gets worse the longer you drive, making it harder to steer. Wipers only spray fluid at higest vertical stroke, passenger side never clean, only half of driver side clean, hard to see on long drives.

19 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/12/2023

I’ve had multiple dangerous visibility issues due to the design of the wipers & having the washer fluid mounted onto the wipers rather than the hood of the car. Washer fluid comes out on the left side of the drivers’ side wiper as it reaches the top of the windshield and just gets blown off the left edge. Had to pull over on major highways at night to manually clean windshield of bug spatter in order to see. In winter the wipers freeze and lose contact with the windshield, & result in extreme reduced visibility. Results in extreme danger driving on highways when trucks pass and spray salt and debris onto windows and wipers don’t function to clear windshield. Had many near accidents because of wipers and washer fluid not making sufficient contact with windshield. This is extremely dangerous in winter and summer and needs to be addressed and corrected by Honda ASAP. This was not just once or twice - has occurred repeatedly since 0ct. 2021 to the present time. It is an ongoing problem and danger. Cannot drive safely if the windshield is obstructed and has non functioning wiper system.

20 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/09/2023

The lcd on the head unit started displaying vertical bars of various colors. The lcd completely failed a few weeks later. Since the lcd failed, the car's backup camera is effectively useless and poses an increased risk to pedestrians when reversing.

21 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/24/2022

Windshield wipers do not fully clean/clear driver side of windshield. This is a major safety risk as wet roads can impair driver vision from salt and sand trucks. Windshield wiper fluid does not clean/clear drivers vision from this and creates a direct block of vision of the road. What I experienced was minor due to minimal snow. This was very impactful in loss of visibility even on this experience. I am genuinely afraid for my safety as this winger season ensues. This is incredibly dangerous and could cause an accident or possibly death.

22 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/21/2022

I was driving down the highway and I got sprayed by a truck, but the wiper would only clear a small portion of the windshield. There were 2 large pockets on the driver and passenger side that the wiper didn't even touch. This issue only occurs in winter. I believe this is a safety issue because I can't see out the window and the wiper system clearly has some issues. I believe Honda should have added a heated wiper park to this car. My old cr-v touring had heated park and I did not experience such an issue on that vehicle.

23 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/19/2022

Cold weather the wiper blades do not clear the windshield at all. Leaves huge parts of the window not able to see threw. This is at least the 2x to 3x time that this has happen. Seems like a big safety issue.

24 Wiper problem of the 2010 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/16/2022

The sun visor keeps splitting at the seam. When that happens it'll no longer hold itself in place and it will flop down blocking my view. At this point I've replaced both sun visors 3 times since I bought the car, about once every 3 years in the summer. This started happening at about 80,000 miles. Whatever adhesive Honda is using to put these together don't hold up in the heat. You can feel the visors getting soft and bending in the heat until it inevitably breaks. It can't be usage either since both the driver and passenger side fail at about the same rate and the passenger sun visor rarely gets used.

25 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

Honda has a documented issue with the air condition condensor due to leaks in numerous Honda Civic 2016 - 2018 models. My car has a leaking condesnsor, but also a leaky compressor and evaporator - which are not covered under warranty. The repair cost for those is roughly $3,300 (compressor $1,696 and evaporator $1,590, if they are repaired with the condensor). My 2018 Honda Civic has 30k miles and I am afraid that the windows may fog up and I won't be able to see out the window during hazardous conditions.

26 Wiper problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/04/2022

Pre-incident. . . . Improper weather stripping around both front and back windshield hold water on seams around installed windows. This results in air bubbles separating the glass from the glue seam and rubber seats. If too many occur for a long enough period, windshield can crack, shatter or break completely free during normal driving. This is happening on a less than 5 year old car. Honda dealership has inspected and taken pictures of bubble areas that are occurring between the entire seal. Bubbles started occurring 3 years ago and got significantly worse over time. No warning lamps.

27 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/11/2022

When I was driving on the george washington memorial parkway I came across a part of the parkway that was under work by construction. As the lane begun to end I moved into the next lane as guided by the construction barrels, but the lane keep assist function would not allow me to steer onto the part of the road that I wanted to, and actually jerked me back onto the side of the road that had the barrels, causing my side mirror to collide with the barrels and the back cover came off and the mirror isn't adjustable through use of the adjustable mirror button in the car anymore.

28 Wiper problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/12/2022

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden I heard a large explosion and pulled back the moonroof visor a little and could see the glass was all spiderwebbed and closed it again, I was about 3 miles from home and had my 80+ mother in the car so I got home before looking at the damage and found a huge blow out of my moonroof glass. Not sure if it was a stone or something that hit it or if it just blew out spontaneously, was a frightening situation.

29 Wiper problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/30/2022

The wiper blades on the 2022 Civic are prone to fail in cold temperatures. They fail to properly clear the windshields and effectively prevent the driver from being able to see. To me, it's an obvious design defect that causes the wiper blades to lift away from sections of the windshield. This is a serious safety issue that must be repaired.

30 Wiper problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/21/2022

Ice builds up on windshield while snowing. Wipers build up ice and stick to windsheild.

31 Wiper problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

A previous complaint to I submitted about this vehicle was relevant to the rear windshield shattering on its own. Update - backed by insurance claims, it has happened 3 times. Once for every year the car has been owned. This issue significantly needs attention. This complaint is about an ac unit. They manufactured a car with defective parts. Listed as a recall by all information I seen, I was obligated to pay a little over $300 for the "recall". Once finally getting a chance taking it back in because the issue was never fixed, they run tests, and tell me the compressor is bad and is going to cost $1400, more than the $1200 it was the first time. Above all, the business practices in which they account for the recalls needs to be evaluated. The portion of the cost of the first work on the ac system was labelled as "goodwill" which is the reason they are refusing to fix it this time. They said "good will" is a one time thing. This is also how they obligated me to pay for part of a recalled part that at the time they told me was a "voluntary recall" and would therefore not be subject to the standard laws surrounding recalls. Honda is genuinely up to no good and needs to be thoroughly evaluated.

32 Wiper problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/04/2021

This 2020 Honda Civic si has been nothing but trouble. From the start I had the windshield crack on me from what Honda said was a tiny chip. I went in to work with my windshield seemingly fine only to come out to a spider web split all the way across the windshield. Honda would not cover citing it to be just an accident and I would have to get it fixed. The windshield absolutely had to be replaced with factory oem glass due to safety features which was on back order so I was forced to drive around with a broken windshield for close to 2 months. Company that installed glass said this is becoming more normal so to say as the glass they are using is paper thin in his words. On top of that from day one of owning the car it has the safety feature of lane keep assist and this feature will literally pick up heavy shadows on the road from power lines and try to correct you as if you are driving out of a lane! countless times I have had to hurry and over ride the assistance just to keep it from making me run off the road! Honda severely needs to look into this on top of their unsafe thin windshields which crack from the tiniest of pebbles hitting them. Also, I just had to replace the clutch and components in this vehicle after just 20k miles and less than a year of owning the vehicle. Honda offered nothing but a one time good will assist in paying for partial labor and parts. This started happening after a normal drive to work one day while going up a hill the clutch started slipping. Made an appointment and took the car in and was told to put another 100 miles on the car and bring back to them although they said they found a transmission leak and needed to find the source . This was certainly very unsafe as while doing those 100 miles the clutch completely burnt out and I was left stranded on the side of the highway and I was put in a dangerous situation.

33 Wiper problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

The ac blows hot on drivers side causing the driver to sweat and lose grip of steering wheel. This is a known issue of faulty ac systems in this year of Civics.

34 Wiper problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

Air conditioner in vehicle stopped cooling causing excess build up of moisture on interior windshield and side windows impairing visibility and safe operation of vehicle. Raining prevented the ability to roll windows down to clear windshield and windows. Had to manually wipe the interior of windows and windshield to see constantly until I made it back to my home.

35 Wiper problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Ac compressor went out after 37,000 miles. Without the ac, it hurts visibility (could not defog the car windows) when raining or living in a high humidity area. This is also a safety issue in hotter climates. Also had problems with rear backup camera not working upon startup intermittently.
