My teen aged child was driving on the interstate 5 freeway going 65 mph and traffic came to a sudden stop and he immediatly stepped on his brake pedal to try to avoid hitting the car in front of him but the car in front of him hit the car ahead and then my child hit the second car in a chain reaction. When the police arrive he noted that the air bags did not deploy despite the impact. The officer siad that it should have. This week I recieved a notice from Honda saying that this vehicle has a recall for the air bag issue. This is why the air bag did not deploy? my child went to santa clarita hospital emergency service but has since checked out. There is a police report and of course the car was insured but there is front damage to the car. Please let me know if the damages to the car can be fixed due to the recall. Thanks.

I was involved in a head on collision on 1/13/2014. My car was totaled and my airbags did not deploy. This caused extensive injury to myself, in which I was on life support and in a comma for almost two days, hospitalized for a week. The vehicle was so damaged that the towing company expressed their bewilderment that the air bags had not deployed. The insurance company is taking the vehicle to a secure location to be examined and evaluated. I am fortunate to be alive, but am concerned for the safety of others. I own a Honda for the safety and reliability, I now question that safety factor.

I was involved in an accident and the front driver's side seat belt malfunctioned and the seat belt did not restrain my body from moving forward; due to the seat belt malfunction, my chest and head hit the steering wheel leaving me with a concussion and significant bruising/soreness on my chest. In addition, my airbag did not deploy, but the light for the airbag on the dash is now lit and the information display states "check airbag system".
Front end collision in clearwater FL in which the seat belt did not restrain the driver and the air bag did not deploy. Driver's head hit windshield, he has significant head, neck and back injuries. The vehicle, a 2003 Honda civic is a total loss. The car's srs light had come on approx. 1 month before the accident. A Honda dealer replaced a part needed for that approx. 2 weeks before the accident.
The contact owns a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. The contact stated that a vehicle crashed into the rear of her vehicle while she was sitting idle which resulted in a five vehicle crash. The vehicle that crashed into her was traveling 60 mph. The air bags did not deploy. The contact and a passenger were injured and sustained bruises, abrasions and head injuries. The contact and passenger were transported to the hospital via ambulance. A police report was available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileage was approximately 100,000.
On going problem with srs light on at 102,000 miles,Honda replaced front shoulder belt/retractor tensioner at 103,375 miles. Srs light on at 107,948 miles failed driver side seat belt tensioner, replaced by Honda. At 121,223 srs light on again this time not seatbelt tensioner. I was told this is an airbag problem and the starting cost is $800. I was told the seatbelt will hold in an accident, but the airbags will not deploy and this needs to be repaired. I can't afford the repair cost involved. I really don't want to drive around in a small vehicle without airbags, but no option.
- the contact stated that while driving her 2006 Honda civic at 40 mph, she tried to apply the brakes but could not get to the vehicle to brake on time before it collided with the rear end of another vehicle. At the time of the collision the contact and passenger were wearing seatbelts, and the damaged was in the front end of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was not was towed. The driver suffered injuries on her neck and was experiencing chest pain and had to be taken in an ambulance, the passenger did not need medical attention of the time of the incident, but since the incident has been experiencing soreness. The failure mileage was 18,000 miles. The contact can provide police report if needed.
While driving 65m ph in 3rd lane of a 4 lane highway. Tapped brakes to reduce speed slightly, both wheels on right side of car locked up, sending car into a fish tail through both lanes on either side of the car, spun and hit the center guard rail of the highway facing back up the direction I came from. Side and front air bags did not deploy on passengar side where the most serve impact occurred. The accident caused $13,000 of damage including severe frame damage. Honda refused to inspect the brakes after the accident, instead claimed that the brake damage was caused by the accident, not the cause of the accident. Talking privately with a Honda certified mechanic, I was able to get the error codes on the computer: inlet cylinoid failure (31. 1 & 35. 1) & passenger side front air bag censor failure (9. 9. 7). Honda refused to do anything about this, and I sold the car as I felt unsafe driving it. The car was still on warranty.
