1 Trunk Lid Lock problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/04/2005

The rear interior well cover is a pull out 17lb plastic table. It has a 'd' ring latch that is held to the table with 6 screws. When you pull up on the 'd' ring latch you get a handle to pull the table up and out. When pulling up on the 'd' ring it pulls a plunger out of a slot is the back of the bulkhead of the frame giving you the appearance that the table is locked down. The problem is that there are nothing else holding the table down on the other three sides. It appears that the side opposite the latch should have a slot or maybe two straps across the rear corners for the table to slide into. Appears Honda overlooked this since they made the lifting 'd' ring also a latch. As designed however the cover is not latched down. Just hope no one turns the Cr-v over and after the air bag saves them have a 17 lb table cut their head off.
