3 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

Takata recall: I made an appointment to get my passenger-side airbag fixed, but since I live an hour away from the dealership, I was going to have to drop the car off the night before. When I asked gunn Honda for a loaner car, they refused. They said they don't give loaners for recall repairs, especially when it's one that "doesn't affect the use of the car. " they said, "you don't have to get this recall done. Just don't let anyone ride in the passenger seat. " I called american Honda (corporate). The three people I spoke with were terrific, and a loaner was secured at gunn Honda as a result of corporate's intervention. When I arrived at gunn Honda, the first thing that manny, my service advisor, said was, "OH, you're the one with the loaner. You called corporate. " he went on to say, "yeah, she was mad when she called. " I replied, "I'm not surprised. I was too. But it looks like it's all getting taken care of, so that's good. " he then said with a smug smile, "well, she's in big trouble because we don't do that, and our factory rep was pissed that she got you a loaner. She's in big trouble. " the rude and antagonistic comments continued. He commented on how unnecessary it was for me to get the recall taken care of because I "don't have to use the passenger seat. " comments were made about how Honda is blameless in the airbag recall issue and shouldn't have to do anything extra for their customers because they didn't do anything wrong. I received dirty looks from several other people while I was there, especially when I took pictures of the outside of my car for documentation before leaving it there. Today I received a call that the car was ready but my battery is "not registering when tested. " I was advised to buy a new battery even though mine has at least 40 months left and a 40% credit.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/28/2016

Takata recall - this recall has been extremely spurious with an inept corporation running it. I received the safety recall information in March 2016 regarding my 2013 Honda Fit sport drivers side air bag. I am still waiting the for part to arrived after several calls to Honda automotive. I was told Honda automotive will pay for a rental vehicle to drive during the over six month part delay (the letter stated the past summer the part would be available). I do not have the place or inclination to let the nitrogen out of my tires, empty the fluid out of the car, and put the vehicle up on blocks in a garage for over six months. When I speak with a dealer or the corporate office the staff is very cavalier regarding my well-being. I do not appreciate someone deciding to play russian roulette with my life especially individuals who act like unfeeling and incompetent robots. Obviously, my family and I am concerned for my safety and I hope to win the cruel game I have been thrown into by Honda automotive. I will say I have owned four Honda cars including this one. I will not be purchasing another for self-explanatory reasons. No one has the right to devalorize a human being (customer) for profits; however, this act happens daily. - mauigirl300, alcoa, TN, USA.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/11/2016

Recieved 2 recall notices, one in Feb 2016 (driver side), the 2nd in July 2016 (passenger side). The 2nd notice stated to avoid placing persons in the passenger seat. Contacted our local dealer late July - at our request they supplied a rental car pending receipt of repair parts. I have now been contacted that repair parts for the driver side only have been received, and that Honda will not cover the replacement car once driver side is repaired, with no firm eta on parts for the passenger side. I contacted american Honda to open a case but was told not to expect to hear back from anyone anytime soon. So I will be expected to continue driving a car with defective passenger side airbags, and the band-aid solution is to not have full use of my vehicle for an indeterminate period of time.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/27/2016

Takata recall both passenger and driver side airbags recalled. Long wait time. For driver side airbag, I was able to get alternate transportation while I waited for repair but not for passenger side. Honda will not pay for alternate transportation while I wait for the passenger side airbag to come in, this is unacceptable. I paid for a car that seats 5 and not using the passenger seat while I wait is not acceptable.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

Takata recall--hendrick Honda of charleston, SC has had my airbags on order for over 2 months and cannot give me any idea as to when they will be repairing my car. Additionally, they have told me that, while they can give me a loaner/rental until my driver side airbag is repaired, they will not allow me to use the loaner/rental until my passenger side airbag gets replaced. So basically, they care if I die, but not my husband, child, or friend who happens to be riding in the passenger seat! this is totally unacceptable. If they are not able to repair these cars, they should have to buy them back from us like Volkswagen is doing for their customers.

8 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

Takata recall I received the NHTSA recall notice 16v-344 yesterday, identifying a very dangerous risk associated with passenger side air bags. I read that the required part will not be available until "late summer/fall of 2016. " Honda then has the nerve to say "Honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed. " so I'm not to have full use of my vehicle until months down the road when they feel like making the part available and a dealer feels like installing it? this is completely unacceptable.

9 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

The contact owned a 2009 Honda Fit. While driving approximately 15 mph, a second vehicle crashed into the front driver's side door of the contact's vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed, but neither the side curtain nor front driver's side air bags deployed. The driver sustained a fractured neck, and injuries to the head, face, right shoulder, hip, and knee. Medical attention was received. The cause of the failures was not determined. A police report was filed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 60,000.

10 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

Takata recall. My car is one of the cars for the takata airbag on the driver and passenger side. I was told that Honda only covers the rental cars for the driver side airbags and will not be covering if the driver side was fixed and the passenger has not been fixed. So I can still drive my car but Honda recommends not to have someone in the front passenger seat. This prevents me from driving/carpooling more than 3 passengers as well as the metal shards from the passenger airbag can still potentially hit the driver if the airbag deployed. Is Honda and other companies allowed to only cover the rental car for the driver side and not the passenger passing on the liability to the car owner if the passenger was to get hurt due to the recall?.

11 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

Honda Fit 2007 recall. I received a recall notice in July of this year about a recall repair needed for the vehicle I recently purchased. The recall was for the passenger side airbag to be replaced by then end of the summer and start of fall. I contacted the dealership after I received the notice and was told I would receive a second notice which I never received. My call was transferred over to another department where I left my contact information and a woman called me a few days later stating she would order the part and contact me when it came in. I have never received any other notice or call about it since and I am worried for my safety in this vehicle if it should rupture or cause any other injury to myself or any passengers.

12 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 06/29/2016

Takata recal - got a notification from Honda re driver side air bag recall. Took car into local Honda dealership 06/29/2016. Was told that another recall on the passenger side air bag also applies to my car, and that neither air bag is available at the dealership for repairs to be performed. Service representative ordered the parts and told me that I will be notified once they arrive, and service representative told me that he can not provide an estimate as to how long it would take for the air bags to arrive. Today is 07/27/2016, it has been 4 weeks since my first visit to the local Honda dealership about the air bags, and still no airbags and no date of their expected delivery.

2010 Honda Fit. Attorney representing consumer writes in regards to no communication from dealership about driver side airbag recall notice that indicates loaner vehicle will be provided or reimbursement of rental cost to consumer.

14 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 03/31/2016

Driver's side airbag recall: I received a driver's side airbag recall in March 2016. I've contacted my local Honda dealer, scott robinson in torrance, CA at least 8 times beginning in March 2016 and most recently in August 2016. The first few months scott robinson said parts weren't available and they couldn't provide alternative transportation. Finally in August they said they could order the parts and it would take 4-6 weeks for the part to come in, but they reiterated that they can't provide alternative transportation. On August 22, 2016 I called american Honda and requested alternative transportation. Throughout the week of August 22 - 25 (mon - thurs) I called american Honda a total of 4 times as they asked me to call my local dealers (which I two different ones) to try to get alternative transportation and to call them back to escalate my case because of my upcoming trips with my pregnant wife in my car. American Honda said they would open a case and get back to me to provide alternative transportation by 8/29/2016. American Honda also told me a manager would call me back on 8/25/16 or 8/26/16 at the latest but I never received any calls as of 9/5/2016 (and no missed calls). American Honda continues to give me the run-around for a case I initiated in March 2016. They have had awareness that I am driving with a life-threatening defect and are not taking any action, which is criminal.

15 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 03/29/2016

Takata recall I was notified that my vehicle had a recall on the driver side airbag and not to drive it. I do not believe Honda will be able to remedy this defect within a reasonable amount of time. I was told the parts may be avaliable in late summer of 2016. They have offered a rental, without the optional insurance coverage, but I would prefer if they offered a buy back on the vehicle.

16 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 03/24/2016

Takata recall: I immediately contacted my Honda dealer about the driver side airbag recall on 3/24/15. Of course I wanted to be put on a list for priority, expecting first come first serve, in the absence of any other known orderly approach to this nightmarish ordeal. However when I contacted the local dealer and the national Honda hotline 6/21/6 for an update, neither could provide any new insight whatsoever after 3 months had passed. This is not acceptable. A manufacturer can provide some at least remotely accurate delivery estimate update and disseminate that info. Also, someone is responsible for acquiring that info, coordinating with other entities and disseminating that info. Rather important with lives at risk. If these parts actually start to trickle in, we, and everyone involved, needs to know time frames, and if there is a system of some sort in place ,so that dealers can provide a better answer than "I don't know", and the customer can know that they haven't "fallen thru the cracks" which is pretty common in the real world. Thanks.

17 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/26/2016

Dear national highway traffic safety administration, the account holders believe that american Honda has failed and is unable to remedy a defect in our 2013 Honda Fit within a reasonable period of time - within 60 days from the date we first contacted the dealer for repair. The account holders have made several good faith attempts in person and via telephone on February, 26th 2016 (first attempt document attached); March 10th, 2016, may 20th, 2016, September 7th, 2016, and September 12th, 2016 to have the driver side airbags repaired for our 2013 Honda Fit lease. Currently, Honda has failed to repair the airbags. Please, see attached documents. We feel that our safety has been neglected by Honda and would appreciate your help in remedying this issue. Thank you for your help.

18 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Takata recall - it has been over six months since I was put on the list for the passenger side airbag recall. I contacted Honda right away as I had just had the driver side one replaced that took almost 3 months. We only have 1 vehicle in our family and my Fit is not big enough for my family. I spoke with Honda about getting a rental as we cannot use the front seat safely and was denied a rental and when I asked for an appeal I was just put on hold and told no. I feel that Honda has handle this part of the recall poorly and in my case severely affected what my family and I can do. They claim I have 5 seats which would be great if the back seat held 2 regular sized adults let alone 2 teenagers and an adult.

19 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/04/2015

While driving my interior began to leak from the seam where the headliner meets the hard plastic on the side curtain airbag. This occurs whenever it rains for lo her than an hour. Water runs into the side airbag compartment, drips onto the seat and door window controls. Attempt by dealer to replicate was unsuccessful however this leak occurs each time it rains.

20 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 12/31/2014

The car was being pulled out of the driveway onto the street, at about 5 mph, when both the driver's and passenger's side airbags deployed. The car did not hit anything, and shows no visible damage. A police report was filed, in which the officer stated that there was no apparent reason for the airbags to have deployed.

21 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 12/10/2014

Takata recall!!!!! first it was driver side airbag after separately paying $700 to get mpg back to spec. Airbag: entered dealer getting 33 mpg, left getting 28mpg. Same thing happened when a repair shop did my emissions test. A friend got mpg again back to spec 33 charged $125 (not $700). Now Honda wants to fix the passenger side airbag!!! wanted $1000 to replace a defective windshield with a new defective windshield. Google search the guy who got four of them!!! safelite charged ~$450. Several people said nothing is "free" about recalls, and I do not want Honda touching my car!!! I have communicated, that I want someone I can trust to do the airbag, to at least 5 Honda representatives and their response is always the same: silence! . . . And then more screaming red mail!!!! well I am screaming too!!!!! tell me of an independent non-Honda shop I can take it to, and I will be happy to get this deadly thing out of my car!!!!! now you want a date????? been harassed and ripped off for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should just sell that deadly pc of junk!!!!! there is more unrelated stuff I could waste your time and mine telling you.

22 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

As I was driving on the service road a vehicle in front of me stopped short, I steered my vehicle to the leftside of the road to avoid a collision. It was raining and the road was slick causing my car to go into a tail spin. I gained control of my car without making impact to anything and my driver side airbags deployed, although my airbags burst out they did not appear to inflate completely. Also my driver side seat belt completely came out of its track. I suffered a scratch/burn on the left side of my neck and a bruise below my right shoulder from the seatbelt. Ambulance and police were called to the scene. I have a police report, the police commented that they had never witnessed a similar situation of how and why my airbags and seatbelt were in that condition without skid marks or impact.

23 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Fit. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag indicated that the air bag was turned off without anyone or anything in the seat which should only occur when someone under 80 pounds was in the seat. The dealer inspected the vehicle and was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer also replaced the seat, but the failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 7000 and the current mileage was 8200.

24 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/26/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Honda Fit. While the contact was driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. There were no personal injuries. A police report was not filed for the incident. There was a deployment of the front passenger side airbag. However, the other air bag systems in the vehicle failed to deploy with the level of impact. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 9,000.

25 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/22/2009

My son was involved in an auto accident in his 2007 Honda Fit sport. He hit a truck stopped in the street while trying to avoid the truck. The impact occurred on the left driver's side of the Honda Fit. The drivers side of the Fit was heavily damaged & the car was a total loss. My son had a serious head injury and was unconscious and was flown by life flight to a trauma center where he was hospitalized with a serious brain injury. None of the car's airbags deployed. Had the side curtain airbag on the driver's side deployed, his injury would have been greatly reduced. Before the accident, the car was in excellent condition with 38,000 miles on it. The insurance company placed the salvage value at $1,100. Why didn't the airbags work in such a serious accident? I have photos available.

26 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/22/2008

I own a 2007 Honda Fit sport that was in a high speed crash. Reading the complaint # 10228324 I can relate to this issue. I was hit on the very front left side at about 55 mph and then pushed off the road to the right. The right front of the car hit a dirt burm around 30 mph. The air bags didn't deploy but the air bag light stayed on until it was reset. The body shop advised me that the impact cut the wiring harness to the air bags and sensor's had been cut in half and the sensors were cracked. It sounds like the left side of this model Fit has many flaws and I am lucky that I was seriously injured. The only answer I can get on this issue is that the impact wasn't in the red zone for the air bags to deploy. I'm sorry but if they don't deploy during a front end impact why would I ever think they would have ever deployed with the wires cut in half. The red zone isn't the issue. The car is a death trap on wheels. So much for the safety ratings because it seems like this car has an air bag issue. The recall because of salt, b. S. Because I live in texas and have 2 of these cars that the passenger sensor is still shorting out even after they replaced it. Texas isn't one of the states that is in the multi salt states that the recall covers. I think someone need to take a long hard look at the issue before some does loose there life. Enough said. . . . . . My foot also falls asleep and hurts like you could never imagine after I drive only 25 miles. Complaint # 10221630 -- I feel your pain. . . . . I have 2 of these cars and each one puts my foot to sleep no matter how I move the seat. ----.

27 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 05/04/2008

I own a 2007 Honda Fit, sport model- that was involved in an accident. I was driving my car on the highway in stop and go traffic. There was a late model Toyota tundra pickup truck infront of my car and it came to a sudden stop. I couldn't stop quick enough- I was traveling at low speed must be under 15mph. My car hit the bumper of the pick up truck infront of me and the hood, lights and entire "top" front end sustained about "$7000" worth of damage. But none of the airbags deployed at all. Lots of lights on the gauge cluster came on and went off but the airbags did not deploy. The tundra only sustained a scratch on the rear bumper. After a tear down by the body shop it was determined that the sensors were installed at the sides at the front end of the frame rail. This is a very low position on this car since its already low to the ground. I believe the airbag sensors are too low on these cars by poor and irresponsible design by Honda. Had these sensors been placed at a higher elevation then the airbags would have gone off and the injuries would have been even minor. This design decision seems like it was developed to satisfy the frontal crash tests conducted by the insurance institute for highway safety. During those tests the cars are evaluated for crashes to a solid object anchored to the ground. The airbags would not deploy in a crash scenario with any vehicle that would not be a compact car. I was lucky because there was no loss of life but the same accident at a higher speed would have resulted in no airbag deployment and certain loss of life. The car is currently being repaired at a body shop in lorton va. I extend you the opportunity to come and study the car if you care to do so. . . Thanks so much shazad buksh.
