1 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2013

2003 Honda Odyssey was brought into the dealership for an interlock recall. After work was completed and leaving the dealership the vehicle shuddered violently. This was not the case when the vehicle was brought in.

2 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the rpm reading increased. The vehicle began to shake. The engine and traction control warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The driver stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the road. After restarting the vehicle the engine light remained on but the traction control light shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the transmission would have to be replaced. The vehicle was included in the recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission) and was repaired previously. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Kmj.

3 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

Starting the vehicle up and trying to drive away it will jump out of first at which point the engine over revs. Must sit for a few seconds and it will "bang" into second gear shaking the entire vehicle. Driving down the road it will slip out of third gear at 55mph and then "bang" into 4th. This vehicle has had the transmission completely rebuilt four times since 07/01/2011. The second time for a rebuild was January 2012, then may 2012 and now it must go back a fourth time August 2012. On several occasions while pulling out into traffic the transmission has slipped out of gear and nearly caused accidents. This is a very dangerous vehicle that has a transmission that can not be repaired once it begins to fail. At highway speeds when trying pass another vehicle the transmission will stutter slip and "bang" into passing gear or slip out of gear and then re-engage in a lower gear preventing the over taking of the other vehicle. Another incident occurred on the expressway at 65mph I began smelling smoke and pulled off onto an exit ramp at which time the entire vehicle was engulfed in thick white smoke that smelled like burning transmission fluid. We had to exit the vehicle for fear of it being on fire.

4 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

Tcs light came on, throttle surges and whole vehicle shudders at about 15 mph under steady throttle. Transmission hesitates when placed in drive and slips when shifting.

5 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2009

I am the owner of a 2003 Honda Odyssey, which I purchased used in 9/08. I paid extra for the vehicle because of the "certified" guarantee from Honda. The car is very unsafe, I have my 3yr old and 5 yr old with me at all times; since I got the car, I am unable to drive beyond 52mph because the car shakes violently; steering wheel and the car. I am forced to drive below the speed limit, where cars aggressively drive up behind me to try and get me to drive faster. I have difficulty on long trips because it is difficult to keep the vehicle stable. I am a single mom and only have use of this vehicle and I have had no resolutions from the dealership nor an independent mechanic. Please help me and my children as I am very concerned for our safety. Thank you.

6 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2007

When the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear on low rpm the vehicle starts to shake before shifting into 3rd gear. If increasing speed while this is happening or releasing the gas pedal and pressing it again it stops doing it. So I have to remember always to press hard on gas pedal to shift in to 3rd gear. Otherwise it will keep shaking and will not shift and when that happens its dangerous because any thing can happen or break if you can not shift gears. We contacted Honda and they are not willing to fix it because its not associated with the 2nd gear recall. But this is a manufacturing defect which should become a recall.

7 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2005

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Odyssey. She stated that while driving 35 mph the vehicle would shake, vibrate and squeak. When the brakes were engaged, the vehicle accelerated without a warning for a few moments and then it would decrease in speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. A second dealer diagnosed the failure as an internal transmission failure. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 35554 and the current mileage was 93000.
