2007 Honda Odyssey. Consumer states problem with vehicle brakes the consumer stated the brakes emitted a squealing and grinding noise on a regular, but not constant on a basis when braking or turning. The dealer informed the consumer the brake problem had been rectified. However, the next day, the consumer noticed when he applied the brake in excess of 60 mph, the van would vibrate and shimmy. He also noticed a constant and unusually loud washing-machine-agitator type noise which became louder while riding in the middle seat area. The consumer stated the entire van vibrated so violently when he applied the brake at speeds of 60 mph and over he became extremely concerned about maintaining control of the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle to another repair shop, where it was recommended that the rear motor mount, rotors and brakes be replaced. The consumer was also informed that one of the tires was badly worn.
The brakes on my 2007 Honda Odyssey, have been checked three (3) times by the dealer. But the problem of not stopping in a safe time and the grinding noise made by them has not been fixed. The pedal is very soft and sometimes all the way to the floor board and still not stopping in time for the red light. This still occurs daily. I have had the recall done for the air in the brake line but nothing helped, I have had the brakes looked at and the Honda dealer stated "they are just fine".
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that left side sliding door and the right front passenger door failed to unlock intermittently. She had to climb over to the other side or turn off the vehicle and restart it to get out the vehicle. Additionally, she noticed repeated problems with the steering; the vehicle would not hold an alignment and would drift to the side. Also, periodically, there was a grinding noise when she attempted to stop, as if she were driving on gravel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership several times where the tires were rotated and alignment was performed regarding the suspension problem. The dealer also installed a seal on the door but the failure continued. In reference to the brake problem, the dealer could not duplicate the failure but did attempt repairs which did not remedy the problem. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they could not assist her. Current mileage was approximately 36,950. The failure mileage was approximately 20,500.
My wife and I own a 2007 Honda Odyssey, and have a consistent and perpetual brake problem. The brakes have always been really soft and go almost to the ground when braking. In addition, when applying the brakes, such as when pulling up to a stop sign, there is a very loud grinding noise. In my experience that grinding noise is a bad thing. However, according to my dealer, and we have taken the van in for brake service several times for them to fix this issue, this is normal for Honda Odysseys. Something to do with the material of the brake pads because the car is heavier. But this cannot possibly be normal, and the brakes should not take so long to engage. I have a very hard time getting this van to brake going down hills and am constantly afraid that they will not engage in time for me to stop before hitting the car in front of me. I am concerned for the safety of my family, and am extremely concerned that Honda has taken no action to correct this issue, especially considering that all of the research I have completed shows that there are many, many complaints of the same nature from other Honda Odyssey owners.
On going intermittent grinding noise and diminished performance of brakes. Grinding noise very pronounced. Total mileage under 10,000 and very lightly used. Issue is shared by numerous other Honda Odyssey owners as indicated by nearly identical description of issue on many online-forum entries. This is of high concern for the safety of my family! thank you.
