1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2025

I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) a bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) the brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) the radio did not work and gave an "error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. I am surprised they passed it. [xxx] this vehicle is still for sale. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2018

Any time I am driving at a relatively high speed (45+) going downhill and need to brake, the vehicle vibrates significantly. I looked this up and it appears to be a very common issue with Honda Odysseys -- warped rotors, and not due to overuse or high miles. My Honda actually has pretty low miles. It is very concerning when I'm driving with my family in the mountains and feel like I almost don't have control of the car since it shakes so much. There should be a recall since this is easily a $500-1000 fix. As for the date below, it's been happening for years, so I just put in the most recent date. We camped last weekend and it happened yet again. Finally prompted me to file a complaint. . .

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2018

Van takes too long to stop. Pedal feels high, but stopping takes too long. New brakes have been installed and problem still persists. I consider this to be an extremely dangerous condition. It seems more pronounced at highway speeds.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Have had extensive issues from Honda of America and local dealerships regarding the status of the Odyssey's safety. This van has had issues since new that Honda has consistently attempted to avoid dealing with. Vehicle at low speeds has suddenly heavy and troublesome steering affected steering response and vehicle direction when turning. Brake pedal feel when slowing in any forward/reverse direction is unresponsive increasing stopping distance and affecting emergency maneuvers. Dealership/ Honda has not and will not accept liability!.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2018

When traveling at low speed (5-10 mph) and depressing the brake pedal, the car suddenly accelerated. This happened on two separate occasions. Feb 1, 2018 and Feb 14, 2018. The problem caused minor accidents in both cases. On Feb 1, the car was in a parking lot, pulling into a parking space, depressed the brake pedal, and the car accelerated and ran over a handicapped parking sign. On Feb 14, in rush hour traffic on the highway, traveling approximately 10 mph, depressed the brake, and the car accelerated into a tractor-trailer causing extensive damage to the Odyssey, but not to the tractor trailer. The Honda dealership maintains that there is nothing wrong with the car, no problem with the brakes or accelerator. As the owner, I am convinced there is a problem and the car is not safe to drive, and in fact we have gotten rid of the car and bought a new one because of this problem. I also did some research online and discovered that 22 other people had had a similar problem with the 2007 Odyssey. I'm concerned that there is need for a recall, but Honda is not acknowledging the problem.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2014

I was driving slowly (<10 mph) and entered into a rotary within a mall complex. I noticed the car in front of me stopped to yield another car entering the rotary. I put my foot on the brake and my vehicle slowed down. As I put more pressure on the brake to stop the car as it's getting closer the car in front of me, my vehicle started accelerate suddenly. I quickly moved my foot further left to make sure it was completely on the brake pedal and stepped harder, the engine ran even faster and it hit the car in the front and stopped. I looked at the area of the brake and gas pedals and everything was clear and separate. Fortunately the speed of the car was slow, no one got injured. The front bumper of my car and the rear bumper of the other car dented.

The contact stated that once he depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle began to drive properly but made a grinding notice. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. 35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2013

I forgot to add the recall number on the vsa device that locks up without drivers involvement and causes accidents. I was told by Honda it is 13-098 in my former complaint today. Bottom line, if I drive it with this unsafe condition and it locks up and causes an accident, who is liable for damages etc? if I don't drive it I have no car until repaired. Does or is Honda responsible to provide us a car until ours is repaired and safe again. I received a recall notice and now tom scott Honda in nampa id said they can't repair it until sometime next year because they can't get parts until then. From my understanding this vehicle is being recalled because the brakes lock up do to the vsa device malfunctioning and causing accidents in which people are getting hurt. What is the answer?.
