Driver side rear frame next to tailgate has some holes at the welding site that allowed water to get in between the frame and the interior of the car and have fried the power tailgate module. I have had to purchase a new power tailgate module due to this.
Multipurpose camera malfunction.
Adas completly stoped working and warning lights about multiple failures showed. I am having trouble with the factory dealer. Honda. They want 1800. 00 dollars to replace camera and fix the warranty I have will not cover it. I have seen a ton of this similar situation posted all over online.
My Odyssey will intermittently refuse to respond to pressure on the accelerator. If I push the pedal to quickly gain speed, from stopping, it will lag for 2-3 seconds before suddenly leaping forward and squealing my tires. This is very unsafe because it has caused me to be in several near collisions. The dealer confirms that other customers have experienced this issue, but Honda has not made a diagnosis or fix available. I have experienced this problem intermittently for several years, beginning around 50,000 miles, and my husband has also noticed it. All maintenance is current, and we have had the fuel system cleaned to try to fix it.
Tailgate issue. Unable to open the automatic tailgate door. Quick search on the internet showed this is a common problem, yet it is not part of the recall and customers are expected to pay out of pocket. This appears to be either quality control issue or bad design. This should be a recall fix.
I've a recall 2019 Odyssey fuel pump mtr saf recall exp1 related to my Honda Odyssey. I can't start my vehicle on 09/10/2024, which I have paid $1200 for the delear to repair. I highly suspect that the reason that I can't start my engine is because of this recall, as "can't start the engine" is one of the symptom. To date, I still have trouble getting this recall repair at Honda authorized dealer, as they are running out of parts.
I have a 2019 Honda Odyssey. I have been having trouble with my transmission for quite some time. The car pauses when I try to accelerate. I took it to a Honda service center in when the car was 4 years old. They plugged it into the electronic system for an update and to look for problems. The entire system crashed. Which required me to replace the entire transmission control module. Even after this, I am still having trouble with the car pausing when I try to accelerate, which can be unnerving. My 15 year old has his learner's permit and is very nervous while driving my car. We have had some close calls.
Hello. My Honda Odyssey has a major safety issue. Three times now the rear hatch has failed. When this happens an alarm goes off and the door locks shut. Then, randomly and shortly after, the rear hatch unlocks. There is nothing locking the door when this happens. Two out of the three times I have been driving the car when the rear hatch unlatched and one is the three times I have had my three children in the car. Thank god no one was hurt or killed. Because there is nothing stopping items from falling out of the car causing an accident while driving. I have now paid two have this fixed twice at 1k each occurs. Despite me having purchased a warranty this is according to Honda caused by “water damage”. Well all over the internet and forums there are people complaining about this with a class action law suit being investigated. The water damage is caused by improper sealing and assembly causing corrosion and the electrical failure. And then the worst part is, the hatch sticks open and the door is unlocked and not latched while driving! I have reached out to Honda directly over and over siting this obvious safety risk and saying that someone is going to get killed and there needs to be a recall. Again I can not emphasize enough how unsafe this is. I do not feel safe driving my children in this car or driving the car for that matter because the rear hatch could open at any time. I am disappointed in the lack of response by Honda and the dealership. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairing this manufacturers defect. I hope that someone can help make this matter important before someone is hurt. Honda needs to be accountable for their issue.
5 warning lights on dashboard for lane keeping assist, auto high bean, automatic breaking, collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control. Honda is saying it is the front sensing camera which is disabling these safety features. None of these features are working.
My vehicle would say mitigation control system failure, and would flutter by turning off and back on and making the vehicle in operable for a few seconds while in motion. Also, would have a transmission gauge issue and would make the car inoperable, and wouldn’t move at all, would only turn on and would function like the radio, lights, etc.
While driving down the interstate going between 55-60 mph van began to downshift and rpm’s started rising but gas pedal didn’t accelerate. Then the next day I got stranded on a highway because the van locked into neutral before I could pull into a parking lot because of traffic, then it finally went into park(we were trying to get it back in drive obviously). I was stuck blocking traffic for almost an hour with 3 kids and an infant in the car. Finally, restarting it several times worked and I was able to pull in and wait for a tow truck. This almost happened on the interstate. Someone is going to be seriously injured or worse because we almost were. Honda I supposed to be known for safety but right now, I may just switch to Toyota because apparently this issue is known and they just don’t care enough about their customers to recall and fix it.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey has had issues with engine hesitation since purchase, but have worsened in the last year to the point that I am concerned I will be in an accident. When creeping forward at a lower speed (5-8mph) to make a turn, the engine hesitates for several seconds, delaying my ability to turn and causing me to then turn seconds before another car is approaching me. I am in a Honda facebook group and many people report similar issues without any fix. I have taken my car to the dealership and they do not see any issues. I recently had my fuel pump recall done (I basically had to beg the dealership to do it despite them telling me Honda is short on supplies), and the issue is still present. The issue is worse in colder weather. I drive with 3 kids in the backseat. This issue needs to be addressed.
The power tailgate would open, then after opening, the tailgate may slowly sag down. Then it automatically closes within seconds. When going down to close, it beeps loudly.
The following message suddenly appeared one day and since then, they kept coming back on every time starting the car: acc problem, collision mitigation problem, lake keep assist problem, auto high beam problem, brake problem, and sometimes transmission problem as well. After research online, many other owners of the same vehicle had the same issue and which may be caused by faulty connector or faulty front camera component for the hardware issue; or software issue which was on the previous recall for the multi-media issue on the Odysseys. There is a Honda service bulletin 18-006 for the 2017-2018 cr-v models of the same issue/symptoms: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months I have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.
It is very common problem with 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey. Water leaks inside from the seam crack under roof drip trim. This water is dripping right on the tailgate control electronic module. And module is short circuit and dead. Now tailgate is either stays locked or stays open all the time as the latch is not operating at all. This is safety issue as if tail gate is not latched properly it can be open while driving on the road. Also with water leaking inside in trunk area it's a issue with growing mold under the carpet. It shows error message on instrument panel about trouble with tailgate system.
Over the last year, recorded 13 incidences where car would not accelerate. (it occurred more times, but I did not record it). I wrote down date, time, weather, gas level, temperature, and what the car would not do. Each incidence was the same - the car would not accelerate, despite pressing down (strongly) on the gas pedal. The car would then jerk forward suddenly. This provided concern and danger as it was often as I was trying to turn off a side road, onto a main road (state highway). This often needs to be done quickly as traffic approaches from both sides. There were a couple of instances when a car was approaching and the vehicle appeared to just stop in the intersection before finally picking up. I have definitely had concerns regarding being hit by oncoming traffic. I brought the vehicle in to Honda to assess in ~may/June 2023. They could not replicate the problem and ended up returning the vehicle without any noted actions. I began taking note of when this occurred starting 6/1/2024, and have 13 recorded incidences.
Passenger sliding door will not open manually or close. “door open” warning comes on while driving and door pops open but not all the way.
While driving my car I have felt it stalling at take off or while slowing down and trying to resume speeds. I cannot fill my gas tank up fully, and now my car will not start. We researched and found that we can tap the fuel relay under the steering wheel to start the car. We’ve taken the car in to the dealership and they will not even check the fuel pump recall because they do not have the parts. They tell me my battery is bad. But when we take the battery to replace it is good. I am now without a working vehicle because the dealership will not resolve the issue of the recall.
The camera system intermittently was cutting out. After researching it is apparently a known issue. I took it to my mechanic and what is "common" is a loose wire. This is not the case with my vehicle. It is a broken wire connection. Therefore neither my camera display or hands-free communication system work, they have no power.
A water leak has ruined two power liftgate control modules. The water leak probably comes from the roof or driver rear window welds. I replaced one module two months ago and the new one has also malfunctioned due to water intrusion. This causes the liftgate to be stuck open or closed and could potentially open when driving!.
The car essentially stalls and the gas pedal becomes unresponsive at times. It is mostly from if the car is stopped or if you are growing slower and then try to go faster I. E. Turning on a stop sign into a road. I continue to press the gas pedal and then it will peel out once the car comes to. It is terrifying because I feel like I cannot trust the vehicle and it carries my children. I am terrified it will stall out and I will get hit. We have fixed all the recalls and brought it into a Honda dealership but they said they could not find any issues. The person we had was not helpful and we escalated to the manager.
Water leaked into the back of my van through the plastic molding at the top of the lift gate. I was told the water ruined the control module. The part I was told would rrun $850 to replace. I looked the control module online at a gunuine Honda parts catalogue & it's $121. They tell me there is no guarantee that this will work. If it does not, then they recommend the replacement of the rear wiring harness which lists at the same Honda parts site fo $2,101. 64 but this dealership wants to charge $8,500 plus $900 for new carpeting. Looking at the auto blogs, it seems that this is a recurring issue with the 2018-2019 Odysseys.
As from the year of 2019 to 2024, I was received a lot of this vehicle safety recall, I went to the Honda service dealer to repair my vehicle but unfortunately they refused and respond repaired service on my vehicle at all times for a reasons is no parts, up to now my vehicle is still not recovered any safety recall service from Honda dealers.
Driving on highway suddenly multiple warnings ?? lights on (about 10) warnings lights like check engine, transmission system, power steering system brake assist ,holding brake system, line departure assistance, hill assistance, emission system, acc system, vas system, blind spot assistance and lack of power hitting gas (accelerate pedal) no response car slow down by itself becomes 20mph on 55mph highway very scary this happened four times in one month.
The transmission stalls and does not shift into gear from an idol. When this happens, it is a safety issue that creates a 2 - 5 second lag in acceleration, then a lurch forward as the rpms rev and the vehicle finally shifts into gear. This is a known problem to Honda through multiple complaints filed with them, and is a commonly known and discussed problem on many online forums. The first time we took it into Honda they denied that there was any issue, charged us for a transmission diagnosis, and were very dismissive towards my wife. When I called to inquire about this issue several months later to set up a subsequent appointment, the service coordinator informed me that this issue is known to Honda but they will do nothing to remedy the problem because there is nothing “physically wrong” with the transmission. He went on and on about how I needed to file complaints in order to pressure Honda to do something about this because it is dangerous and he personally knew of other vehicles with the 9-speed transmission that had been involved in accidents because they could not accelerate in intersections. He emphasized that Honda will not fix the problem. Not only is this awful customer service, but it is putting my family’s lives at risk. There have been several close calls for my wife when trying to turn left across oncoming traffic, merging into moving traffic, and navigating in smaller spaces. The transmission does not shift into gear for several seconds when trying to accelerate from a stop or from a rolling idol. It is dangerous to us and other drivers on the road. This is a known issue to Honda. They refuse to do anything about it.
Tailgate on 2019 Honda Odyssey model(s) without power lift gate function open to only a dangerously low height. Five undocumented head injuries have occured on a single vehicle within one year. Upon more research, tailgate height for these models have caused several head injuries some requiring medical attention. No warning labels or preventative equipment attached to the tailgate to warn of serious head injury. Honda dealership advised unable to adjust tailgate height.
Power tailgate problem repeatedly flashed on dashboard but would disappear before it was legible and the car was beeping while driving. We stopped and tried to see what the problem was but it wasn’t until we finally arrived home that it finally showed the full error on the screen. Apparently this drained the battery as well and we had to call aaa the following day to start the vehicle. They tested the battery which was only 2 years old (oem battery died after only 2 years) and said it was fine. Drive around for 40 minutes and the next day it was dead again. Had it towed to the dealer who after much discussion agreed to replace the battery even though I read online about people having issues with water leaking onto the power tailgate module. The dealer told me they had to replace the battery instead and the next day called to say that I was right, the battery replacement didn’t solve it. And when they looked at the power tail get module it was indeed corroded from moisture. But they wanted an additional $500 so they could subcontract to an “expert” who could seal that leak. I told them to only replace the module and asked why a recall hadn’t been issued. They said this was beyond their pay grade. I told them I’ll find a way to seal it myself.
My 3 year old daughter had the sliding door shut on her hand completely. It shut and sealed in place where as it would normally beep and reopen when it sensed an object in the path.
On December 8, 2023 I left my home where the vehicle is parked in a garage to drive to work. About a mile down the road I heard a loud pop and glass was flying off the top of the car. The sunroof of the vehicle had exploded without any direct impact to the sunroof, extreme vibration on the road, or extreme temperature. The car was at about 45 mph and the temperature was above freezing.
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the significant reliability issues I have encountered with my 2019 Honda Odyssey. Unfortunately, these issues have led to inconveniences, unexpected expenses, and a reevaluation of my trust in the vehicle's long-term dependability. During the warranty period, the vehicle suffered from water infiltration in the trunk, resulting in flooding. Addressing this problem required multiple interventions by the dealership. Post-warranty, an electrical/electronic component related to the liftgate module malfunctioned, leading to an unforeseen repair that cost upwards of $800+. Subsequently, the vehicle experienced recurring starting problems, necessitating jump-starts on multiple occasions. Most recently, a complete failure to start occurred, requiring towing to the dealership, which unfortunately happened while away from home. Extensive diagnostics revealed the necessity to reprogram the bcm (body control module) to resolve the issue. The repetitive and varied nature of these issues, especially for a four-year-old vehicle, raises concerns about the reliability and quality standards associated with the Honda Odyssey. These recurring inconveniences and unexpected expenses have compelled me to reconsider recommending this vehicle to friends and family. Of particular concern is the possibility of experiencing a breakdown in remote areas during extended trips. The prospect of being stranded with my family in such situations is troubling and potentially unsafe. Urgent attention to resolving these issues is crucial to avoid any untoward incidents for myself or other Odyssey owners. While I have raised my concerns with Honda, I am also contemplating sharing this experience with the NHTSA. The uncertainty surrounding potential future issues while driving has led me to consider selling this vehicle. I believe it's essential to document these concerns for the safety and awareness of others who might face similar situations.
My power tailgate control unit is fried due to a leak in rear driver side.
Warning lights started being displayed stating that multiple vehicular functions were not working. (vsa stability, emissions system, brake system, brake hold system, power steering problem) upon inspection at the dealership I was told it was a fuel injector problem and it was not covered under the recall. The fuel injector is currently on back order and I have been waiting several weeks for a part. The estimate that was given to me was around $1200. I believe this should be covered by Honda.
For over a year, when ever I press on the gas to accelarate the car stalls and this is very dangerous as it could cause an accident. It is not related to being low on gas as it happens even the the tank if full. The most recent issue happened yesterday. I was on a stop sign, and when I pressed the gas to go, the car moved forward a bit and then it stalled, leaving me on the middle of the intersection about to get hit by upcoming traffic. I was able to press the gas a couple of time and get car moving, but I was about to get him. A few weeks ago, again I had a similar situation. I was at a red light, and when I pressed on the gas, my car stall and wouldnt move, causing everyone behind me to honk their horns. I once again then to press the gas a couple of time for car to move. In addition, a few weeks ago, I was yieling to enter a highway, and when I press the gass to speed up and enter it, the car once again stall and was about to get hit by upcoming traffic. The issue is not related to gas tank, as I just recently had that replace after it suddently rip. Not sure how that happen, maybe another think to consider looking into. When I advised the dealership of such, they said stalling is normal due to type of engine. There is nothing normal of putting your life at risk. This is an accident waiting to happen.
Safelite replaced after market windshield in 2020 now I bought new ads camera. Honda was unable to program/(aim-recalibrate). Took it to safelite, they didn’t want to responsible for it.
