40 Suspension problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

2005 Honda Odyssey -the sliding doors fell off !!!!!!. I researched and discovered a numerous amount of problems with the sliding doors. There is a recall for newer models and they too have the exact same issues. The problems range from a grinding noise , auto doors not opening completely than closing. To the back of the door slightly opening then the beeping indicator is constantly on while driving. The battery is being drained because the doors never close completely. The center rollers are cheap plastic which I believe causes the grinding noise. Once they wear out it gets worse. These are not some isolated complaints!! there are too many others with every year of the Odyssey that have these issues !! and now I finally see a recall. All theses issues have happened during different times. Some while stationary. Some while driving. The worst one where the door literally fell off was parked in my drive way. (thank god) I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem and rigged my door but it is not safe to drive. Why was this not recalled a long time ago?? there are too many complaints to ignore this !! the newer models have been recalled for this exact problem . I owned an accord for 14 years over 300,000 miles. The best car I ever had. Than bought this 2005 Odyssey and just recently purchased a 2018 crv ex. It's wrong that Honda does not back up their reputation.

41 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

Frist the check engine light came on I took it to Honda what came out of that visit was a repare bill of over 4400 00 dollars then it came back on after 3wks. Now it is this tapping sound from the engine. All on the city street.

42 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/15/2018

After experiencing increasing vibration only during acceleration while driving the 2006 Honda Odyssey, I did some research. As it turns out, the engine mounts (alternately referred to as "motor mounts") are an extremely well-known defect among consumers. I was as much as told by the pleasant young woman who answered at Honda consumer affairs that because the safety concerns of broken engine mounts are negligible, that the manufacturer doesn't really care - despite the fact that is a known defect, is extremely prevalent, is recurring requiring many owners to replace the mounts 2,3 4 or more times over the course of ownership, it has a known cause (the "eco drive" system, and can be very expensive to repair. In fact, what she actually said was that my car did not have a recall associated with it. When I informed her that I already knew that, but wanted to register a complaint with Honda and to inquire as to the likelihood of any sort of compensation or repair, I was told to file this complaint. I again explained I'd like to deal with Honda, and was again assured that no one there - no one - was interested in hearing my concerns, nor would anyone there do anything about it without intervention from the government. Why has Honda not issued a recall? excessive vibration at high rates of speed can, and does, cause issues with stability and control. The range of speed at which this problem occurs is widening, and the vibration is becoming increasingly strong. As of now, it occurs only while accelerating, not at all during coasting, mostly at highway or freeway speeds, or lower speeds during rapid acceleration.

44 Suspension problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

1. 2nd row driver and passenger seats do not "lock" into place when folded forward, creating a "free flying" seat when driving/in motion and an entrapment issue when parked for 3rd row passengers attempting to exit the 3rd row. This is specially dangerous on a hill. My 3 year old has been hit and injured by the seat on a several occasions. 2. Engine lurches and stalls while in motion. Stalling causes potential risk for accident. 3. Driver and passenger sliding door will not open on occasion. This means getting 2nd and 3rd row passengers out of trunk or climbing through to driver/passenger seat. All of these have been brought to the attention of the dealership, they cannot reproduce 1 and 3. Had no solution for #2 (a simple locking addition to the seat footing would fix #2, Toyota sienna's lock on place).

45 Suspension problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/18/2018

The 2008 Honda Odyssey exl was parked in the driveway. The rear hatch suddenly fell on my back & shoulder when leaned in to get bags from the trunk. I had to struggle to lift the heavy hatch to get out. Took the car to Honda dealership. Dealership said there is no warranty/recall and will have to order the replacement struts. Cost for parts was $171. 40, plus labor. Called Honda of America recall 800-999-1009 and informed them of the issue to make them aware of the safety problem. Honda of America regional manager based out of CA, seth called back (7/20/18) who said this an old van that is long out of warranty and implied normal wear & tear issue. When we said there appears to be a recall issued for this very same problem on 2008 & 2009 Honda Odyssey models, was told our VIN # is not covered by the recall even-though it appeared to us to be same problem. Told there is nothing Honda can do. Being a life long owner of Honda vehicles past and present, I did not expect such apathy and disappointed by Honda's lack of customer service and concern for consumer safety. Prior to this incident, we were not aware that there may be an issue. At minimum, safety notice should have been sent to all 2008 Honda Odyssey owners to make them aware as this is not the type of normal wear &tear requiring replacement.

46 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

When your driving around 60 to 70 front end starts shaking, vibrating when you let off the gas peddle it stops but when you accelerate it starts again I have read many post of the same issue I have replaced all wheels and same thing is happing.

47 Suspension problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

Van only has 61,000 miles and the transmission will not shift into gear when driving, it just revs at very high rpm's. Also when making a left hand turn there is a rattle in the left rear tire area like a spring is broken but there is nothing visually wrong. . . .

48 Suspension problem of the 2012 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

My minivan has 38000 miles and start with a small noise went I make a right turn and getting worst, I took it to the mechanic and they don't know where the noise is coming from. The point is this vehicle we don't use a lot and we have mostly hi way miles, we have not even finish pay for it and we feel like we driving an old car. I read some reviews and other people has the same issue.

49 Suspension problem of the 2012 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

The rear tire went flat rather suddenly. Honda does not make the camber adjustable (unlike other manufacturers), which leads to inner tire wear. This affects the handling and ability to break. We did not have an accident this time, but I am not comfortable that this won't be the case in the future. Honda does this so that the customers have no choice but to have costly routine maintenance and purchases (new tires). It is shameful.

50 Suspension problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/23/2016

Our 2005 Honda Odyssey vibrates, especially around 35-45 mph. Honda told us that the engine mounts have broken and that is what is causing it. They are not a cheap fix. Engine mounts, the last thing that you would think would go out on a vehicle! yet, when you go online, this apparently seems to be a massive problem with these vans. Honda has a problem with their engine mounts braking and this seems to be ok with them. This is not ok. They need to take responsibility for this failure. We have already been through having to replace many other failures from Honda throughout the years, including replacing the fuel cap before they recalled it. We will no longer be purchasing Honda vehicles.

51 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/23/2016

Vehicles pulls very hard to the right all the time especially when driving on the highway at 65 mph. We have to hold the steering wheel at almost a 20 degree angle to the left to counter the pull to the right. We took it to the Honda dealership twice and they claim that the alignment is within the manufacturer specifications. I think this a big safety issue when the car wants to change lanes by itself.

52 Suspension problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving, the steering wheel was tight and the serpentine belt fractured. In addition, the bolts fractured associated with the suspension pulleys more than twice causing a failure. The vehicle was towed more than once and taken to an independent mechanic a third time, who replaced the serpentine belt, the bolts and the pulleys. The independent mechanic checked with the manufacturer on the oem parts that had been ordered and they stated that the bolts were newly designed but provided no resolution on why the bolts prematurely fractured three times. The independent mechanic repaired the vehicle. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v039000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

53 Suspension problem of the 2015 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

On August 9, 2015, we were driving home from vacation from cedar point, ohio to pittsburgh, PA. This is about a 200 mile trip. The vehicle ran smoothly the entire trip until I left the turnpike of driving 60-70 miles per hour and then began driving on a road with a 40 mph speed limit. All of a sudden I was at a red light waiting in traffic. As soon as the light turned green, I pressed the accelerator. We began accelerating to 25 miles per hour but knew something was wrong. My car would not leave first gear. The gauge on the dashboard went from 1-7 gear but nothing happened. I was in the passing lane traveling 15-20 miles per hour in a 40mph zone. I then proceeded to change lanes when all of a sudden the entire car jumped as if it had a mind of its own and began to accelerate. The car began driving faster but not any faster than 40 mph. Again, all we could hear was rooooooom and the dashboard indicator looked like windshield wipers going from left to right. The car would not leave 2nd gear. This continued to happen over and over again at each red light. Since this was a Sunday, the service center was closed. It wasn't until Wednesday that the dealership was able to take a look at my vehicle. Since no sensors indicated a problem, they stated there was not a problem and there was nothing they could do. I am not fabricating this incident one bit and am afraid of this happening again but having a different outcome. If I experienced this problem and the dealership dismissed me because a sensor did not indicate a problem, what does it take for a sensor to trigger? this is a leased vehicle of 1 month and I am very concerned of it happening again or worse. I am a single mother of 3 and should not have to worry about the safety of my children and myself in a 1 month old vehicle with less than 2,000 miles.

54 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

The rear lower motor mounts wear out prematurely and cause unwanted vibrations and steering play. This is a known issue and has not been rectified. The dealership charges $800 to replace the defective parts.

55 Suspension problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/25/2015

I had all major services at Honda dealer ( four wheels alignment at 95000 miles in 2012, timing bell at 100000 miles in 2012, oil transmission service at 109500 miles in 2013, alignment at 121000 in 2013). I bought extended warranty for 7 years or 100000 miles when I bought my car. During that time period and all services at Honda dealer they did not advise any thing. Today I brought my car for air bag recall, alignment and oil transmission service, they told me that I need to replace all three engine mount cost approximately $1380. I was shock because it too expensive. I can not understand why engine mounts easy to break. I went home researching online and surprising to discover that a lot of people had same problem. I think this engine mount defected or design problem cause engine mounts easy to break (normally need to replace over 200000 miles) ans Honda needs to address this issue. Please advise me what I suppose to do because if engine mounts broke it going to effect suspension, balancing and alignment system etc. . . Thank you very much. Best regard,.

Broken rear motor mount.

59 Suspension problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

American Honda motor company - manufacturers defect with the van's rear suspension, resulting in the van's alignments being uncorrectable since the date of purchase. American Honda has known about this alignment and suspension defect issue with the 2014 Honda Odyssey's and has chosen to hide the design defect from the public. Honda dealers know there is an issue but there are no authorize american Honda oem certified fixes to the problem. The Honda dealers defer, that there is nothing they can do until Honda issues a fix to the suspension/alignment issue. The result, unsafe vehicle and the added continual expenses that are a direct result of american Honda's concealment of the issues with the vans. Quick searches online, document many other Honda Odyssey owners with reported identical issues, as well as other Honda owners (keegan v. American Honda class action certified). American Honda's own actions confirm and indicated that they recognized and acknowledge the issues I presented with the van and my claim. American Honda directed me to bring the van to a Honda dealer for inspection autopark Honda. The van was reviewed, determined defective, and unfixable with any readily available oem Honda parts as verified by a recognized Honda certified ase master mechanic. If the van was manufactured to american Honda's own oem specifications and standards, then any oem Honda parts would readily be able to be replaced with the defective oem rear suspension parts and correct the alignment issues at once. This is not the case. The vehicle by american Honda's own admission is not fixable with any oem Honda parts. American Honda's own findings confirm, validate, verify and support the facts that the vans inherent manufacturer's defects exists in the rear suspension of the van and validates my initial and open claim since 6-7-14 inv hocs332080, at 317 miles.

60 Suspension problem of the 2014 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Odyssey. While driving various speeds, the vehicle independently veered to the left and right without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (Honda north, 665 evans city rd, butler, PA), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,600. The VIN was not provided.

61 Suspension problem of the 2001 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/15/2014

The tcs. & check engine lights turned on, gear would jam in, after a stop the car would not accelerate at all, would frequent jumps when the gear changed, cannot accelerate, after regular maintainence with oil changes n transmission fluid change, the issue unresolved. Diagnosed by 3. Auto experts as transmission issue that is associated with 1999- 2001 Odyssey models. Only 82540 miles. I am 2 nd owner. I am retired and need redressal of this issue as I can't afford serious repair costs.

62 Suspension problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/10/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the rear lift gate door would independently open. The contact would experience difficulty in manually closing the lift gate door. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the rear struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number:12v062000 (structure) due to the authorized dealer stating that the failure was only associated with the power lift gate models. The contacts stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure as the power lift gate and on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92500.

Owner hears front end rapping when tires hit rough road or cracks/bumps. Honda replacing l/r struts.

64 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/11/2014

The van vibrates horribly due to a faulty rear motor mount. It is clearly a default in manufacturing. I was also referred to mention complaint# 10425453.

65 Suspension problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/09/2014

Experiencing vibration in vehicle during acceleration between 40-60 mph. Took the van to mechanic and was informed that two motors mounts are bad and need replacing. These are not wear and tear items and should not need replacing. This appears to be a problem with Honda Odyssey vans and this problem is not being covered by warranty since the failure occurs around 100k to 150k miles.

66 Suspension problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

I did not know the motor mount was an issue on Honda Odyssey but I already replace one so far on my van after a month I took my van for a ignition recall and overall the van did not any problems at all after getting it back from the dealer but after a few weeks the engine keep shutting down in a low idle, no accidents so far only mad people behind me when my van stalls. Can you (NHTSA) investigate or let me know if this is a Honda issue or my, one other problem is suspension is to noisy feels like leaving wheels behind I hope you take matter on all complaints before someone get hurt.

67 Suspension problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/08/2013

In a routine virginia state safety inspection a Honda dealer failed my wife's 2007 Honda Odyssey van (50902 miles) for two broken motor mounts (front and passenger side) and a burned out brake light. I did not and do not believe that such a new, low mileage vehicle should have developed broken motor mounts, especially since my wife drove the van gently since it was new. Because the projected repair costs to replace the motor mounts, "cracked" compliance bushings and other unspecified bushings were expected to be several thousand dollars, I took the van to an independent auto repair shop for a second opinion. The independent shop did establish that the front motor mount was broken and that the other issues, however, were spurious. The independent shop agreed to repair the van for $368. I think that Honda has in this case designed and produced faulty motor mounts (I think that each Honda Odyssey engine has 5 motor mounts). I also think that Honda should issue a recall to replace the faulty motor mounts at no cost to the vehicle's owners and should reimburse owners (current and prior) for any related repair costs. Since a faulty motor mount triggered a rejection in a virginia state safety inspection, this Honda motor mount failure issue is clearly a safety issue.

68 Suspension problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/03/2013

Van vibrates uncontrollably because of defective electronic motor mounts, which cost thousands of dollars to replace, and causes handling problems which could result in a crash.

69 Suspension problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

Steering wheel severe vibrations while driving on highway at 50 up to 70 mph went to auto mechanic and replaced 2 engine mounts ($1113 total).
