The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact could not restart it and had it towed to the dealer. Three weeks later, the mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced. Once it was replaced, the vehicle began to shake while driving at any speed. She took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that it was working properly. While driving home, the vehicle stalled again and all of the instrument panel lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and, after a few days, they claimed that the vehicle was fine. The dealer further stated that the vehicle would shake for a few days before returning to normal; however, the failure continued. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that there was transmission failure. When she retrieved the vehicle from the dealer, she was informed that the transmission was replaced. After all the repairs, the failure still persists. The failure mileage was 32,450 and current mileage was 35,000.

My husband, 2 year old daughter and myself were driving to maine from new jersey after purchasing our used 2002 Honda Odyssey just the previous month at 102000 miles. Only an hour into the trip after passing through the toll plaza and getting onto the NY thruway the van had no control. I pushed the brake and the van accelerated, I pushed the gas and the van lurched to a stop as if someone pulled the emergency brake. I lost control of the steering and there was no shoulder to pull over to since there was construction. Cars, and 18 wheelers were flying past me and I was in the left lane. After putting my hazards on and driving no more then 5 miles an hour I was able to get over to the shoulder. At this time all the dash lights started flashing and smoke started pouring out of the hood. We got it towed to the nearest Honda dealership, and they told us the transmission was fried and the dealer that sold it to us had overfilled the transmission fluid by 3 quarts. They said we would need a new transmission. Our warranty shipped a rebuilt transmission. Now after only putting around 2000 miles on it and only 2 months later we are starting to have the same problems. It bucks when it shifts, it brakes when I accelerate and the whole car shakes when I shift. I have a 2 year old daughter and I am scared for our lives to drive in this, as most of our extended families live 1 hour or more so that requires us to drive on major highways. This is definitely a major safety concern!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle made a loud noise. The transmission was replaced twice within six months. When attempting to stop the vehicle, it skips from first to third gear, causing the vehicle to lunge forward. The contact noticed that when applying pressure to the brake pedal, the pedal extends all the way down to the floor and causes the vehicle to vibrate excessively. As a result, the stopping distance is increased. She took the vehicle back to the dealer and they replaced the brake rotor, which did not remedy the failure. The manufacturer did not assist. The failure mileage was 1,500.

When the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear on low rpm the vehicle starts to shake before shifting into 3rd gear. If increasing speed while this is happening or releasing the gas pedal and pressing it again it stops doing it. So I have to remember always to press hard on gas pedal to shift in to 3rd gear. Otherwise it will keep shaking and will not shift and when that happens its dangerous because any thing can happen or break if you can not shift
gears. We contacted Honda and they are not willing to fix it because its not associated with the 2nd gear recall. But this is a manufacturing defect which should become
a recall.

Transmission shifting incorrectly. On acceleration, will slip then suddenly catch producing a shock and spinning wheels. On deceleration, will downshift and
grab abruptly, producing a shock or shaking the vehicle at low speeds. Dealer lute reiley Honda refused to fix in June, 2004. Severe shocks from transmission failure have now caused engine mounts to fail.
