Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problems of the 1999 Honda Passport

Four problems related to brake antilock control unit/module have been reported for the 1999 Honda Passport. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2003

Problems with abs brake module on 1999 Honda Passport. The consumer received a recall notice in reference to the abs module. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair but when the vehicle was returned to the consumer the brake pedal pulsated severely. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the consumer was told that the front and rear brake pads and front rotors neede to be replaced. They also indicated that the pad and rotor failure was due to the abs module failure.

2 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2003

Abs motor ran continually. No longer in operation and needs replacement.

3 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

Failure Date: 09/02/1999

Consumer got a recall letter in March 2004 on the abs module system . Had recall problem fixed on July 29, 2004. Now, when brakes applied, the car will not stop at required distance and continues on a few feet more while driving forward or backward. Drove on a cold day ,and when he parked vehicle and turned it off, it made a noise like a fan blowing. Took it to dealer, and they fixed the abs module system at owner's expense. The brakes are still not right. Gave the dealer $200. 00 to replace rear rotors, and all they did was put new pads on old rotors. Consumer states new pads with the old rotors made him run into a brick wall.

4 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem

1999 Honda Passport jerks and makes grinding noises. While accelerating, driving or stopping the vehicle would jerk and make a grinding noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they couldn't find the cause of the problem. When the gears were changed the panel control lights indicated that the vehicle was shifted into low gear. The rear wipers failed and the dealer replaced the wiper/washer switch. The abs light illuminated. The dealer replaced the antilock pcm.
