My Passport has shut down 4 times recently while idling at a stop. There is a auto start/stop feature on the car that shuts down the engine at stops until the brake is released. The problem is that it sometimes does not restart after releasing the brake. The first 3 times it happened at an intersection so it was no big deal. The last time, today, it stalled on a highway as soon as I stopped for heavy traffic. The car was automatically put it neutral and it took me about 40-50 seconds to realize what happened and to restart while the lanes next to me started moving at highway speeds. I looked up the problem online and saw a "Honda idle-stop class action suit ([xxx])" and found out that it is happening to others as well. [xxx] I am not looking for money but want this to be looked at. I will be taking my vehicle in for repairs at a Honda dealership later this week. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

At a red light in an intereection the auto engine idle stopper feature stopped the engine and it failed to power / restart the engine. The cars electral system locked up. Could not restart engine, and could not put car in neutral because engine needs to be on. Had to car battery jumped. Took car to Honda dealership after incident. They concluded that the battery and electrical systems passed all diagnostic tests. If this is the case there is a major safety issue with the car.

May 5, 2025, I took the Honda 2019 Passport to bend Honda, bend oregon for three items. First an oil change. There were two recalls, most and the fuel pump. Neither american Honda nor bend Honda sent any letter stating part were available. The workmanship appears as though a "pig" worked inside the car. Mud, dirt, bits of leaves, etc. Were found. There are some scrapes on the driver side panel from someone's foot. The windows were down when I received the car. It must of be left outside the dealership overnight because of a gasoline leak. On the way home I had to drive with the windows part way down because of the fumes. The Passport is inside my garage and several times I've opened the doors to vent out the gasoline fumes. The fuel pump is either installed incorrectly or the interior had a large spill of gasoline while removing the fuel pump. Could be the wrong pump? the fumes should not be this terrible.
[xxx] start/stop system failed when stopped in starbucks drive thru. Unable to restart, or move vehicle. Honda Passport had to be towed. Problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer. Honda dealership deep charged battery and battery tested good? I was charged a diagnostic fee for starting & charging systems & battery. Test name was gr8 diagnostic test by Honda. Vehicle was inspected by local Honda dealer. Diagnosed parasitic drain on battery? a new battery had been purchased 9/16/2024 @ a Honda dealership in va. New battery is just 6 months old. Never had a problem with the new battery or start/stop system until [xxx] when failure occurred. There was never a warning lamp, message, or other symptoms prior to the failure. Original start/stop recall repair done 5/2/2023 at Honda dealership. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
At speeds above 55 mph, car will make a noise like paper being torn, followed by a loss of throttle response. This lasts for 3 to 5 seconds, then everything returns to normal. This has happened with the cruise control set, or while under foot control. No warning of any kind show up on the dashboard. We have taken our vehicle to the dealership on may 15 2025. They could find nothing after polling the computer or on multiple road trips. This loss of throttle has occurred six times in the last five months. We will keep a written record of these events as they happen, and pray that nobody gets hurt or dies from this.

Breaking and steering wheel malfunction causing accident on December 20th 2024. Car is currently still at dealership for investigation. My safety was at risk, causing injury to shoulder. Not sure if problem has been reproduced, not confirmed by dealership as of yet. Police reported, insurance company only fix damage, then vehicle was towed back to dealership for inspection, after being repaired in a different shop. Was called back by dealership to have additional inspection done and was told that my car was going to be refurbished. Issues started once my car had hit 10,000 miles, after my first vehicle maintenance expectation. Received multiple systems warning lights, information dealership multiple times and nothing was done until after the accident still have no car til this day 5/14/25.
I called two dealerships to get my recall repaired, mile high Honda and planet Honda, and neither of these certified Honda dealers can help me fix my recall. I am worried about my safety as I drive this vehicle. Honda is currently out of fuel pumps to fix this situation, leading to uncertainty and fear while operating my vehicle.
My auto-electronic braking was randomly engaging while I was driving. It was unnecessary, & scary. It would just engage, then stop. Then, my emissions systems light came on, & would not go off. I had to get to a safe place. The dealership told me to bring it to them, it never went off the warning was on consistently. It never blinked or went off @ all. I was on the highway, & they kept it overnight. They told me they cleared it & the emissions code never came on. Yes, it did. They still have it tonight bc I refused to take it back, when I was clearly being told I did not see what I saw (even parked) where would I get that from if the light didn’t go come on? they refused to acknowledge what happened, & as of right now I’m in a rental even though they wanted their rental back. It’s a 2023, bought brand new. Full warranty, & they are putting people @ risk. I drove as slow as I could, & followed the directions from the owners manual. I could have been re-ended, due to erratic braking, & my entire vehicle could be destroyed if Honda refuses to own up to the malfunction. I have had problems w/this SUV since the 1st week I bought it. I believe it should be taken back under the lemon law! it’s not safe! not even 7,000 miles on it yet. I bought it w/7 miles. It started by saying I was departing my lane when I wasn’t for about a week, then the brakes would just slam on randomly. They said they reset it, they refused to change the oil @ 70%, had a new guy, who stated the emissions light did not come on! it did! I drove as slow as possible on the highway to get it to service bc I had no choice. They said the the camera was dirty, then the braking was fine, via the code went off, but did not drive it. They literally called me a liar that the emissions light didn’t come on. It was on when I drove it in, & left it. They did not inspect emissions. Emissions has nothing to do with their explanations. I don’t have an invoice yet, I refused taking it back. They haven’t even driven it.

The cable that opens the fuel door has broken making it impossible to refuel the vehicle. The inside emergency release also will not work when the cable is broken. The vehicle can not be refueled until extensive disassembly has been performed and the cable replaced. This can take several days and much expense. The safety concern happens when the driver is far from home or in an undesirable location and runs out of fuel. This cable problem has occurred on a less than 3 yr old vehicle with less than 36,000 miles. Way too soon for a critical part to break down. The Honda dealership indicated that this has occurred before. This should be addressed as a safety hazard with a recall and inspection and an extended warranty for the repair.
My 2019 Honda Passport with VIN# ending with**********2184. A safety recall of a faulty fuel pump was dangerous to drive. The faulty pump recalled from Honda NHTSA warned drivers that are at risk of crashes and accidents. The increased risk of property damage as well. I was exhausted trying to get a loaner car from my dealership that I have all of my routine maintenance is performed. The fuel pump failure from December 2023 as of today still unavailable. On 6/15/2024 I loss control of my 2019 Honda Passport. The rapid acceleration and rapidly stalling the vehicle etc loss of power and control. I hit a tractor trailer hitch destroying my vehicle completely. My injuries are still extremely problematic mental and physically. I was arrested for dui which put the blame of me being intoxicated or driving on drugs. I was not taken to a hospital but to jail. I requested to seek treatment in the jail clinic. I was released without a bond. The cops wanted my consent for blood to determine my alleged dui. August 7th 2024 I received a letter stating that my blood was negative and rescinded of suspension allowing me to drive. I can’t drive with seatbelt sign injuries neck, spine trauma to degenerative spine exacerbation. No car no job unable to be my elderly mothers care taker. My mental health has become significantly worse ever in my entire life. A faulty fuel pump and a false dui arrest are daunting on a daily basis. I have also contemplated suicide. I am financially crippled. So I don’t understand if I was cleared as the cause of the accident. I was already warned about and Honda knew that without a dui case. Hondas safety recall of the faulty fuel pump. The indicators were a red flag but my Honda dealership just told me to just pray everything I have to drive my vehicle dates 2/22 2024 —-3/14/24 4/24 and other miscellaneous dates every time frustrating. The inspection of the faulty fuel pump was explained on the recall. After the collision nothing left to check.
My vehicle is currently subject to recall 23v-858. I never received a recall letter. I am currently an active duty service member attempting to have my vehicle shipped to hawaii in conjunction with a pcs. The government will not ship my vehicle until Honda provides me with a letter confirming that there is currently no fix for 23v-858. Can you please help me get something from them ? I have already contacted several local dealerships as well as their corporate office and no one will help me. Thanks !.
I was driving on a highway when my car just shut off in the middle lane in the middle of the highway. And I had five errors come up on my screen and my car would not start back up. I had it towed to Honda where they said it was my fuel pump. My safety was put at risk because the car just shut off while driving 75 mph in the middle lane and came to a complete stop. I was not able to roll to the side of the road. Honda released a recall on 2020 Passports for the fuel pump in Feb 2024 for this exact reason but my VIN number was not included so I contacted Honda to see if I could get reimbursed since it did happen to my Passport in Jan 2024 and they are stating that at this time I cannot be reimbursed because it’s only on select Passports, even though it happened to my Passport.

Dealers have stalled the repair of this manufacturer defect. I have made multiple requests to repair this vehicle, two dealers state that they do not have the repair parts. This has gone on for over a year. I have reported that the vehicle has stalled, they said it was a software issue.
Vehicle has a delayed response to accelerate as if the transmission doesn’t want to shift or missing the next up shift. Starting from a stop position you have to press further down on the accelerator to get the vehicle to move which could lead you to accident either hit someone in front of you cause the vehicle lurched forward or possibly hit from the side or rear cause the vehicle won’t accelerate.
With auto stop/start disabled as this feature regularly fails, stopped to turn left and car shifted itself into neutral, could not be shifted into drive or restarted for a few minutes despite multiple attempts. If car had auto stop start feature engaged, this often happens, which has been reported, but this time it happened without that feature on. Luckily we were turning from a parking lot so did not hold up traffic or have risk of being hit.
Vehicle fails to start intermittently after short stops. Needed jump start after it goes into accessory mode. Battery and charging system are good (12. 6/14. 1 volts). Battery is new, was replaced 10/2022.
On several occasions engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the auto start/stop function engaged. Car shifts itself into neutral and cannot be restarted by pressing start button. It required jump was required for the vehicle to restart once. Usual work around posted by Honda is to put car in park and then attempt to press start button. Crash was avoided once in heavy traffic.
I have had the car for three years and its never been in a collusion. Within the past two months the forward radar sensor failed which cost 1500 to replace. This part makes it so all cruise control and auto lane change functionality break. In addition a month later the gas lid broke and emissions were getting into the fuel tank. Again not major incident but I did observe that the gas tank top is very flimsy and moves a lot of when refueling. This cost me another 763 dollars. Both these issues cause major safety issues and should not be occurring on a three year old vehicle.
Was nudging Passport into a handicap parking spot at local grocery store. The Passport suddenly the engine raced to full throttle. The brake couldn't stop car as it hit the handicap pole and airbag deployed. The pole Passport to go to the right and ended up on a parking island. The idle went down and after smoke inside car cleared was able to stop engine. The Passport was towed away with extensive front end damage and minor property damage.
Confirmed high pressure fuel pump makes a high pitched “chirp” when engine is warm and at idle.
Emission system problem all wheel drive problem warning light on and off on dashboard.
While driving on freeway,in 3rd be lane,65mph,power and motor instantly went out. Leaving me struck in the middle of freeway. On coming traffic traveling 65 to 75mph. Nearly causing major accident. I had purchased vehicle from original buyer. Incident happened right after purchase. Since incident this has happened approximately 15 other times. Within an hour or 2 car would start back up. I asked previous owner and was told that he had replaced 3 times a part to fix this problem. But still problem exists.

Vehicle returned today for the third time. Same issues: will not come out of park, 10 warnings. Let vehicle run about 15 minutes, turn off, go inside for about 15 minutes, restart vehicle, 7 warnings and now can get into drive. One added issue: at the dealership when closing the door there is several beeps indication the key is still inside the vehicle. The keyfob is not in the vehicle or anywhere near!! vehicle stationary in garage at home.
Vehicle would not come out of park, it was stationary. First time 3/27/19 picking up new at dealership. Second time 4/10/19, parked in my garage. Both times numerous warning codes displayed. In my garage 10 warning codes displayed, ran motor for several minutes and turned off. Restarted later and 7 warning codes displayed and vehicle would go into drive. Drove to dealership, made appointment for service 4/11/19. Dealership found multiple battery low codes stored from when battery died on lot. Technician noticed a ham radio antenna mount on the cross bar and reported the unknown accessory attached to the cross bar could have something to do with vehicle codes being set. As of this date all the parts to install a transceiver have not arrived. The unknown accessory is just a mount and at the dealership inspection it has a ground wire, 14 gauge thhn, connected to a bracket. When the antenna is installed it must be grounded to frame. I'm including jpegs of antenna mount. Also I have supporting emails detailing when the parts will arrive to my po box and or street address. A transceiver has not been installed in the vehicle! there has not been any electrical connection to the battery/vehicle!.
Honda suddenly accelerated causing an increase over the mph speed limit. Sometimes past problems of coming to a dead stop and locking the steering wheel. Multiple gauge problems intermittently.
