Honda Ridgeline owners have reported 91 problems related to body (under the structure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda Ridgeline based on all problems reported for the Ridgeline.
Severe hood vibration, bouncing and shaking present at various highway speeds (55mph-65mph). VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 21v932000 (structure, latches, locks/linkages). Upon visual inspection hood latch was significantly loose. Gaps evident in seal of hood and severe vibration of hood presented and remain present following recall/repair. The vehicle was brought to the dealership upon reciving recall notice. Dealership installed striker plate and tightened loose hood latch. (03/03/2022) however, hood continued to vibrate, bounce and shake at highway speeds after initial repair; noticed only after leaving dealership. Consequently, vehicle has been returned to the dealership two additional times for same safety complaint: severe hood vibration. (vehicle returned again 03/04/2022 and 03/21/2022). Dealership was informed of continued severe vibration and failure to address the vibration and bouncing of hood resulting from air entry through gaps between hood and grill each time vehicle returned to dealership. Despite consumer informing dealership vehicle's hood was continuing to show severe vibration, shaking and bouncing at highway speeds, the dealership indicated they did all they could; all is safe and the hood does not get secured on sides, just at front latch. Dealership informed consumer nothing more could be done. Consumer found dealership's explanation; subsequent failure to address and correct vibrating hood safety issue unacceptable and is reporting this vehicle's hood vibration as a continued safety problem as it remains a clear and present danger at this current time. Continued, natural wear, tear, and strain caused by vibration and bouncing of the hood, resulting from air entry through gaps between hood and grill, remains clear and present danger of hood unexpectedly opening while driving increasing the risk of a crash resulting in potential injury or death.

Hood latch recall. Inspected & partially repaired by classic Honda of midland, TX on 02/08/2022. There are cracks around the hood striker, & I have pictures. It says on invoice that it was submitted to dpsm. I have called the dealership service department several times & the advisor has not returned my calls about the results of dpsm. I called Honda customer service & she told me they can do nothing because each dealership is privately owned. The hood vibrates still & looks like it will fly off in windstorms & passing semis on interstates. The blue rectangles on picture were drawn by the service technician.

The capless fuel tank freezes and you are unable to fill the car with gas because of the block of ice that forms not allowing you to insert the gas filling hose.
The February 2022 edition of consumer reports, page 19, identifies 2017-2020 Honda Ridgeline (and others) as having a faulty hood latch that could release as the vehicle is in motion thereby blocking the driver's view of the road. I cannot find any evidence on your website or that of Honda's about a recall or a fix for this issue. Please look into this matter and get back to me as soon as possible. I was driving at 65 miles and I felt something wrong was happening, the hood was totally opened while I was driving . Its was a windy day and I thought was the wind . I stopped and I closed it very well but the fallowing week I had the same issue with my car.
The back passenger door opens by itself while I'm driving. The heater mode never changes when I switch it to defrost, face, feet.

While trying to feel for the trunk release button underneath the tailgate with the tailgate closed, the sharp bottom edge of the trunk lid sliced my finger open. The manufacture should have at least chamfered the edge of the trunk lid or installed a guard or trim piece that would prevent contact with the razor-sharp fiberglass-reinforced plastic material.

I took my vehicle for a state inspection as I had just purchased it was explained to me as a body rust only no frame rust vehicle. Upon inspection the mechanic showed me that the frame was rushed out completely at the rear end subframe inboard mounts. The gas tank strap mount was missing and held in with a nylon strap. Most of the secondary subframe is nonexistent and frame at radiator core support is diminished.

Inside door releases will not work. Honda had a technical service bulletin on this matter of defective door clips. However when I called the dealer said this was not a safety recall. How can this not be a safety issue? what happens if the vehicle is in an accident and driver and/or passengers need to get egress the vehicle quickly but the door releases will not work. This is an unsafe condition caused by a manufacturer defect.

On November 15, 2020 I notice 2 bubble and seal gap on driver side door/window panels. Vehicle was stationary. No scratches, painted cracks or appearance of breaking or worn. Bubbles are in the center and top edge of door body underneath the paint.
The clear coat is failing on my white Honda Ridgeline.
I am not sure when it happened but at some time the 3rd brake light and assembly blow off of my truck. I tried to look up the part number and saw several other complaints of this happening to other owners I am told by mechanics that the clips that hold the assembly in place are often bad I have a 500. 00 deductible and the repairs will be 800. 00. I am saving to have the repair done I don't drive on the highway because the sides are loose since there is nothing holding them in place since I don't know exactly when or where this happened the rest of my report is estimated.

Hood flutters on highway. Happens more during windy conditions but can happen anytime while driving on highway. Looks like the hood is going to blow open. Brought it to dealership last year, they said they couldn't find an issue and did nothing.
Water leak from moonroof and or windshield will short out blind spot monitor sensors and cause warning light in the dash to appear blind spot monitor system problem.
The hood moves up and down while driving at highway speeds. Especially when encountering strong wind gusts. For instance, if the wind is blowing hard or when you meet semi trucks going in the opposite direction. The movement is significant and very noticeable. The first time it happened I stopped to make sure the hood was latched. There is a technical service bulletin for this problem (TSB 17-083) and dealer applied some adhesive in accordance with the TSB. It seemed to help, but did not eliminate the movement. I am concerned that down the road the hood could come apart or come off.
Water leaking in through radio antenna and runs down inside the vehicle on both sides of the rear window.
The hood flutters at certain times under turbulence at freeway speeds. It only happens when conditions are perfect so the dealer refuses to fix because he can't duplicate it. It happens in gusty winds or when driving around semitrucks.
Hood is warped because of 3 years of it not latching properly. Recall did not fix the problem. According to the recall, if the hood is damaged they are supposed to replace it, which it is damaged. Honda autonation 104 refuses to do so saying "this is normal" and I have provided Honda service people that will vouch for us. Provided photos and videos. Safety is put at risk for the driver and passengers along with other motorists if a failure happens and the hood fly's open at highway speeds it could cause death. Yes has been confirmed by dealer employees and and other service shops. The dealer managers refuse to even come look at the vehicle even when it is there at the dealer. First appeared 6 months after we bought the vehicle brand new from said dealer. Has been documented on many of our oil change visits. Still refuse to replace damaged/warped hood. To add to our frustration, corporate Honda is also in agreement with the dealership. No one from the dealership or corporate Honda has ever actually inspected the hood. This vehicle, 2019 Honda Ridgeline, has never been involved in any sort of accident and has been very well maintained and taken care of.
Body rust, vehicle has 66,000 miles but it is unsafe to drive because of structural weakness due to excessive rust damage to the underside of the vehicle.
I was stopped in a left turn lane behind another car. A third car came from behind at approximately 40 mph and hit my car from behind, pushing it violently into the car ahead of me. My driver side airbag did not activate on impact. I suffered facial and arm injuries from striking the steering wheel. I was wearing seat belt and shoulder restraint. My car was subject to prior takata airbag recall and airbag was replaced by dealer.
We have a 2007 Ridgeline. Twice before we have experienced the third brake light panel ripping off entirely under higher speeds. It happened both times when we were traveling 65 mph on the expressway. Thankfully no one was hurt and both times the dealership repaired the issue at no expense to us. Unfortunately we are now again experiencing issues with the third brake light panel whereas we are hearing whistling noises and thumping sounds if we go over 60 mph. The parts are still in place and I'm trying to be proactive to get the part fixed before it rips off again. I have contacted both the dealership where we purchased the vehicle and american Honda customer service, but neither party is taking responsibility and we are told we would have to have it repaired at our own expense. I even brought to their attention that not only is it the third time it has happened to us, there are numerous on-line reports of people experiencing the same issue. And some have reported having the same problem multiple times. . Read more...
On June 13, 2019, I hit a rock in a parking lot in the front of the vehicle. Later took to a body shop when radar sensor lights came on. Was told it was the misallignment of the radar sensor unit caused by the rock collision. Body shop says they recalibrated, but the warning lights still randomly come on. Counldn't get an apt. With the dealership to look again, for the third time, until mid sept. Decided rather than risk a false positive breaking system error caused by the malfunctioning radar sensor, to turn it off. I'm heading out on a trip over 6 mountain passes and am not pleased that I have to do this and feel this defect and lack of resolution for 3 months could affect my safety.
At around 30k miles the car began to make a thumping sound from the front of the vehicle when driving at any speed and passing over any uneven surface on the road. The sound seems to happen only when the left front wheel hits a bump and not the right wheel. I took the car to the local dealer twice and they stated they could not hear the noise or recreate it and that all components where working correctly. I even road with the tech to show them the sound and they reported afterwards that the sounds was gone when they test drove it 4 times before I picked it up. Driving out from the dealer, the sound was still there. They told me to let it get worse so they can find it easier and diagnose it. The noise can be heard especially when passing over consecutive and small bumps. The car now sounds like an old car with structural damage.
Third brake light panel (above rear window) blew off at 75 mph. In checking online, this has happened to many other Ridgeline trucks.

The hood vibrates and bounces at highway speeds as if the hood is not completely latched.
The hood vibrates and bounces at highway speeds as if the hood is not completely latched. Also, the hood does not latch easily. It takes considerable force to get the hood latch to secure. The Honda dealership, where the vehicle was purchased, was notified of this on two separate occasions. The first was when the vehicle was brought in for the fuel pump inspection recall. On this visit the hood bolts were torqued to spec. The second time, an inspection of the hood revealed the adhesive holding the hood bracing had separated from the hood. It also showed the hood hook was hitting the hood latch off center (scratches on one side of the hook) making it difficult to close and latch securely.
The hood on the 2019 Honda Ridgeline always jumps up ad down and vibrates violently at highway speeds. It is very unsettling since it is only held by a very lightwieght latch with a lightweight rivet to to the frame. I expressed this concern to the dealership when I took it in for the fuel pump inspection recall. They reattached the rubber gasket on the hood but there is no change in this problem . My concern is that the latch will let go under this stress and the hood will fly up on the highway.
Light state doff for approximately 5 seconds and came on again and remained on and is still on on 11/15/18. Somehow I was able to travel approximately 30 miles to the next exit, tucumcari, nm, without traction and limited steering. No report to police was made as police and tow trucks were fully occupied. There was no option for turning around or stopping and waiting for assistance. Body damage was less than expected. There were no injuries.
There is no known way to open the in bed trunk. I've taken the truck to the dealer and contacted Honda and neither have an answer. If something in the trunk prevents the trunk from opening, the owner needs to destroy the trunk to open it. What if a child was stuck in the trunk and couldn't find the release? I did find a way to open the trunk by cutting a 4"x4" whole. Honda offer no help what's so ever. (the vehicle was stationary).
Plastic parts on my vehicle are buckling and melting, including the trim on the windows, the front bumper, the wheel well and rearview mirrors. Honda replaced these parts once and they started to buckle and wrinkle the very next day. Honda says that it's because of uv reflective material on my neighbors' windows reflecting light onto my vehicle, but none of the other cars on my street have this problem. It doesn't seem to matter where I park my car (street, my driveway, not near any windows). . This happens and gets worse as the days go on. Honda says the same thing is happening to their cars at Honda hq. . . But won't take responsibility for having the material in these parts changed to something which doesn't melt. This is a brand new car. . . . . . . I covered the melting parts in reflective tape in hopes of stopping this damage. The attached photo shows the reflective tape, which is where the melting is happening on the replacement parts. Honda says this is happening when my vehicle is parked.
Fuel filler neck freezes in cold weather. Honda replaced the entire part once but it did not fix the problem. I cannot fill up in cold weather because of the freezing.
Rear locks stopped working. First started on drivers side so that it wouldn't lock automatically not even when putting in drive so it make it unsafe to put a child on that side that may unlock the door if the child lock was not engaged. Then it started doing the same thing on the rear passenger side lock as well. It is random whether it will unlock or lock and it has to be manually locked or unlocked from the inside of the vehicle. When trying to engage security feature to lock up all locks must be locked so if they don't lock automatically you have to open each door and manually lock so that you can secure the vehicle.
