Unknown. I think the abs module light appeared instantly on the dashboard. It's the anti-lock brakes that aren't working. I immediately contacted my Hyundai dealership when I saw a brake light come up on my dashboard when I went to brake but I had none and the brakes went all the way to the floor and I almost went over a cliff and died or badly hurt others or myself in a car accident. I'm willing to try and get it fixed at other independent service centers in Plymouth massachusetts. The event had happened a week before but I didn't report this incident to the police, insurance representatives/others or any other manufacturer because there wasn't officially any automobile accidents. Finally, my Hyundai Accent 2012 was donated to me by "good news garage" over 2. 5-3 yrs ago through a work-to-program/donation under the m. R. C. Or massachusetts rehabilitation center in Plymouth massachusetts which is permanently closed and is now called mass options and that's the only thing I know about this situation with no brakes. I am reporting a severe and hazardous failure involving my 2019 Hyundai Accent. On August 8, 2025, between 9:00 p. M. And 10:00 p. M. , while driving on mopac (loop 1), a heavily traveled highway in austin, texas, the vehicle abruptly experienced an overheating issue without any prior warning. The engine rapidly lost power, causing the vehicle to become unstable in traffic. I managed to maneuver the vehicle to the far-right shoulder, but when I attempted to accelerate and further distance the car from the road, the engine failed completely, emitting a severe sound resembling an explosion followed by an immediate shutdown, rendering the vehicle inoperable. This failure posed an immediate safety hazard. The vehicle was disabled in a dark and high-speed traffic environment, significantly increasing the likelihood of being struck by other vehicles. During the incident, I encountered difficulty releasing my seatbelt, briefly confining myself inside. The sudden breakdown caused me severe distress, leading to a panic and an asthma attack. Although I did not seek medical attention, the physical and emotional consequences were substantial. Since the breakdown, the vehicle has remained completely undrivable and incapable of restarting. The issue has not been replicated due to the vehicle’s inoperability. Prior to this occurrence, I had maintained regular oil changes and performed necessary maintenance, and no warning lamps, error messages, or symptoms manifested before the failure occurred. The manufacturer has been notified, and I am awaiting review by a case manager. The vehicle hasn’t been inspected by a dealership yet. Following the towing of the vehicle to my residence, a mechanic was dispatched to conduct an inspection. The mechanic indicated that the engine may require replacement. However, insurance representatives subsequently arrived and were unable to provide assistance. They asserted that the issue was of a technical and electrical nature and deemed the vehicle a tot.

On the [xxx], my 2012 Hyundai Accent caught fire in the engine compartment and engulfed in flames. Right before the fire started, smoke came out of the air vents into the car, causing me to become stifled and choke for several minutes. Smoke was also coming out of the hood. At that point, I lifted the hood and there were flames coming out of the engine. During the past six months prior to the fire, I developed a chronic cough and now believe it might have been attributed to fumes that I have been inhaling through the air vents from my car's engine. My [xxx] mother and [xxx] son have suffered headaches, coughing, sore throat and congestion when riding in my car with the air conditioner turned on. The remains of the vehicle were inspected by the rockdale county fire department after they extinguished the fire. What remains of the car is available for inspection in rockdale county GA at a tow yard designated by the rockdale county emergency rescue team members who assisted me. It was too damaged to tow to my home. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the engine catching fire on [xxx]. About a week prior to the fire, oil indicator light would flash on and off periodically, unusual noise began, and the engine light came on. At the earliest convenience, the car was taken to a shop for inspection and consultation - with no life threatening concerns or mechanical damages reported. The day of and right before the fire, there was a loud noise and immediate smoke. The exact timing of the believed ignition of the fire started around 7:25am with the fire in full flames by 7:28am on January 30, 2025?.

I was entering highway on entrance ramp there was a loud pop and I could see plumes of smoke coming from under the car, so I turned the ignition off on the car and pulled over to the shoulder, the brakes failed so I had to let it coast to a stop. Then I waited until I could safely exit the vehicle and did so quickly. I had the vehicle towed to a local shop, and they told me I should report it. There was no warning that it was about to happen and yes its available for inspection still sitting at the shop I had it towed to. They also said I should have it towed to the manufacturer service center but this is my first time dealing with anything like this so im unsure what to do. I did do a cursory inspection under the hood with a mechanic from the shop and there was a burnt wire and a bunch of what looked like oil down at the bottom of the engine, but the oil was still full so I dont think it was oil.

The instrumental panel suddenly malfunctioned the abs, airbag, and check engine lights illuminated, and the speedometer dropped to zero. The instrumental panel returned to normal, but the mileage range reset to 0. This was while I was traveling on a highway going 70mph. While it did not cause an accident this time, it was very upsetting. Further it is concerning that there was a recall on the 2014 Hyundai Accent for wiring issues that could cause a fire in the engine also referred to as an intermittent. We had the car inspected and nothing was found to be wrong with the battery/alternator or starter and nothing we could do in regular maintenance to ensure the safety of this vehicle. Note the mileage of this vehicle is 108k which is interesting considering the powertrain warranty was for 100k miles.

The problem was also discussed with Hyundai representatives, including amanda, who is aware of the issue and the relevant maintenance records. There has been no inspection by police or insurance representatives related to this specific issue. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms: prior to the engine failure, there were several warning lamps and messages indicating engine problems. These symptoms first appeared on [date of first warning], giving preliminary notice of the impending failure. Despite these warnings, the necessary repairs or goodwill intervention were not provided. Given the seriousness of the situation and the impact on my daily life, including the necessity to use rental cars, take time off work, and travel extensively, I request the following: immediate approval of goodwill repair: reassess and approve the goodwill repair for the engine issue based on the accurate maintenance records provided. Compensation for inconvenience: compensation for time off work, rental car costs, travel expenses, and emotional distress caused by this situation.

Due to the recall of the abs fuse I believe it has caused a electrical short and that's why my junction box does not work, also I had problems with slow acceleration almost causing me to get hit.

My 2016 Hyundai Accent engine has all of sudden stop working and I have explained to multiple shops and my insurance that I was deployed for a whole year and the car was driving fine and once I came back it just wouldn’t crank. Two Hyundai shops informed me that the engine is locked up but neither shop provided a thorough investigation as to why this has happened. There were two-three major hurricanes in texas where it was stored while I was deployed in kuwait and iraq from March 2023- March 2024 as well as another hurricane in georgia where I am currently located now which happened September 2024. The engine is locked with no explanation as to how and a Hyundai representative by the name of don who provided the goodwill repair on July 09 2024 and I had it towed to Hyundai in marietta and they looked and provided the same explanation that the engine is locked and to get it replaced with no detailed reasoning why. My safety has been at risk due to driving across states and town to get this vehicle serviced properly and causing mental anguish and depression as I am not able to get to where I need to go everyday which is causing friction in relationship and I am missing important events. I emailed the ceo randy parker and his executive assistant amanda has done nothing but further deny the goodwill with no explanation on how, why, what, when. No, the problem was not confirmed as again it was no detail reasoning behind how the engine locked when it was working fine before returning from overseas. The vehicle was inspected by the local Hyundai dealerships in killeen texas and another in marietta, GA and only inspected by one adjuster recently on October 10, 2024. There was no check engine illuminated in the car once I returned from overseas as it has not been driven much. There is still no check engine light illuminated even after all the shops checking. To make this right, I would like for Hyundai (hmusa) to honor the goodwill repair and or replacement of the engine.

Recall 23v651000 has been in place for over six months and a remedy is still not available. I have suffered hundreds of dollars in damages due to having to continue to park my vehicle outside, including having to replace the fuel sending unit after a failed siphoning attempt as well as exterior body and paint damages due to weather conditions. Please press Hyundai to release a remedy as soon as possible!.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear driver's side tire suddenly became flat. There was an abnormal sound coming from the infotainment system and the vehicle was shuddering. The contact stated that the front driver's side and the rear passenger's side windows were stuck and had to be manually raised. The check engine, air bag, and low tire pressure warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I received this notice of a safety recall for my 2012 Hyundai Accent in late October. Hyundai stated that a remedy would be available in late November. Now it's late December, and I've heard nothing from Hyundai. This safety recall sounds urgent and incredibly dangerous; I don't feel safe driving or parking my vehicle anywhere because according to them, it can catch fire at any moment. Despite this, Hyundai hasn't provided any more solutions other than parking my car outside, which doesn't solve the issue with driving it and frankly isn't any more safe. Hyundai isn't responding quickly enough at all for how urgent this issue is, even though several vehicle fires and thermal incidents have already occurred due to this very issue. It's ridiculous that they state the vehicle is safe to drive, yet they admit that the vehicle can catch fire while it's being driven. At this point, the government needs to step in and hold Hyundai accountable, for the sake of public safety. They need to be made to provide a solution that actually solves the problem, even if it isn't cheap to do so.

This car has a recall which put my child and others at risk. It also has a recall for excessive corrosion, which has made the suspension unrepairable. It only has 124k miles. I would like Hyundai to take the car from me and give me the remaining value so I can reimburse my child, who had to buy a car that was safe to drive.

Our 2012 Hyundai Accent hatchback is not drivable at this time is is over at the service department through ron marhofer Hyundai of green in akron ohio, it has not been repaired yet. . Our vehicle was dropped off 10/11/2023 and today of this letter it's 02/01/2024 still no repair I am very upset because my wife is in stage 4 cancer and has to have treatments and now I am unable at this time to let her meet her medical needs. . I am so stressed about this mess the service manager is trying to provide us a loaner but we are waiting what I would like to happen if it cannot be repaired I would like a check for the difference so I can buy another vehicle like a buyback.

Bought my car in 2021 and had actuators for windows replaced, now in 2023 I need passenger actuator replaced again. My heater is stuck on 4 and continuously blows and cant be turned off. The summer was ok but wasted gas because I had to have the air conditioner on or else eventually nothing but heat will blow out and so its not in my face the air has to blown in "feet" only mode and eventually starts to really burn while I'm driving. No coverage cause its considered "cosmetic" even though the whole panel needs to be replaced not just the knob. My car is also apart of the Hyundai recall #251 but when calling my local dealership they told me I had no remedy for any type of recall so that ment I had no recall. I called Hyundai customer service and asked about the notice to dealers, the notice lets dealers know that owners of effected vehicles are eligible for substitute transportation if they do not want to continue driving their car. I let him know what my local dealer told me, and how she didn't even let me know about the recall or the alternate transportation choice that's available to me and he just told me that they know about the recall so they should help just ask for a manager next time. I have my check engine light on now after hearing a ticking noise like other complaints, hot air constantly blowing and now I have to worry that whatever is wrong could also effect the problem that is considered to be likely to cause my car to catch fire! please let dealers know just cause there's no remedy yet for the recall, please at least let people be aware that they are at risk of having their car catch on fire especially when they call and ask specifically for the information!.

My 2021 Hyundai Accent has randomly not started a in more than 10 different times. The lights go on and you can hear it trying to start but it never catches to actually start. It’s under warranty but the dealer says if they can’t see it when it’s happening then they can’t fix anything. I bought a new battery with dealer recommendations but I still hace they problem. I only have 25,300 miles on this 2 year old car.

While this may prevent fires caused by brake fluid leaks, it disables the abs, introducing severe safety hazards: •without abs, the risk of wheel lockup during heavy braking increases, leading to skidding and loss of control. •abs reduces stopping distances, especially on slippery surfaces. Disabling it may result in longer stopping distances, raising collision risks. •drivers accustomed to abs may not be prepared for how the vehicle behaves without it, potentially leading to improper braking. Federal regulations mandate that all u. S. Cars and minivans manufactured in 2012 or later must have four-wheel abs. By disabling the abs, Hyundai circumvents this requirement, compromising safety. Despite attempts to communicate these safety issues, Hyundai has shown inadequate response. This suggests a disregard for customer safety and an effort to avoid liability and the cost of providing loaner vehicles or temporary replacements. Hyundai has not offered alternative transportation to affected drivers. Given these safety risks and Hyundai's inadequate response, we urgently request NHTSA 1. Ensure recall 251 remedy does not compromise safety by disabling the abs. 2. Hold Hyundai accountable for maintaining four-wheel abs in affected vehicles. 3. Require Hyundai to develop a safer recall remedy that: ofixes the root cause: properly addresses the brake fluid leak to eliminate the fire risk without compromising the abs. Omaintains abs functionality: ensures the abs system remains fully operational. Oprovides safety support: advises vehicle owners not to drive affected vehicles until the new remedy is implemented and provides loaner vehicles or temporary replacements. We urge the NHTSA to take immediate & decisive action to compel Hyundai to develop a safer, more effective solution.

I am very upset that there’s no corrective measures for this recall issue. I can’t drive my car due to the fear of it catching fire. I can’t park my car away from my residence due to a mobility handicap. I have not been able to get any information on when this will be be resolved. I would appreciate your attention to this matter.

The car caught on fire while driving on the freeway for no reason, an explosion occurred.

I have already submitted a report here and never had any follow up and I don't see it in the reported complaints section of this website with newer incidents already showing so I know it isn't that there is a back log. My car caught on fire while I was in the car, asleep. I have reports from the fire department, I have struggled with Hyundai for months and ultimately was denied any assistance due to I was missing one of two service records. The fire report clearly stated that fire started in the cabin of the car not the engine so a lack of an oil change shouldn't have been the reason this happened. This event has traumatized me and continues to be an enormous burden on me and my family and their lack of caring is beyond disheartening. I easily could have died that day, by all accounts I should have. I would greatly appreciate some sort of follow-up as I feel like I'm just being completely ignored and discredited. I would gladly provide more information as to the actual incident if needed but like I said I have already done so in another report and don't want to do it again if it's just going to be ignored a second time.

The instrument cluster malfunctioned and turned the dashboard off repeatedly in 2023 and now again in 2024. This part controls the cruise control, as well as the electrics on the dashboard. When it malfunctions, it deaccelerates the cruise control and you don't know what speed you are driving. The component was replaced in 2023 and is scheduled to be replaced, again, in two weeks. There is no warning when this part is going to malfunction and turn off and on.

This reports a recurring safety restraint system (srs) airbag warning light issue for no apparent reason other than potentially defective components. Please investigate this! any issues with the srs system of a vehicle by default puts the safety of the vehicle's passengers at risk. The srs airbag warning light first turned on randomly in June 2023 and remained on for a few weeks every time the car was on or being driven. (I am the second owner of the car, and this happened a year after purchase; I do not know if the original owners also had issues with this srs warning light. ) this srs warning light turned itself off randomly a few weeks later. I had scheduled with a Hyundai service dept. To diagnose the issue for the price of $184. 50 but ended up cancelling since the srs light turned itself off 2 weeks before my appointment. The rough phone estimate by this Hyundai service dept. Said that depending on if it is a sensor, control module, or something else, it could cost between $500 to $3000 to resolve. I was told that an issue with the srs would not be investigated/covered by the manufacturer original warranty. (but srs is a non-maintainable system so should work properly for the lifetime of the vehicle. ) the srs airbag warning light remained off until on Dec. 22, 2023, when it turned on again randomly. It stayed on again (anytime the car was on or being driven) for a few days then turned off randomly again. The srs airbag warning light turned on again 1/26/24, then turned off on again on 1/29/24. It turned on again on 1/30/24 and is still on (2/1/24). This recurring srs light issue indicates an urgent, underlying issue with the srs system that has occurred randomly, without warning or reason, to my vehicle and to others with this vehicle according to this NHTSA web site. This srs warning light issue suggests that the srs system may not be working properly and could case the airbags to deploy incorrectly, or not deploy when needed, which is unacceptable.

The aeb light came on in car. Car was brought home 15 min later and parked in driveway. 3 hours later the car went on fire. The fire department inspected and said it was a mechanical issue. The car was totaled by the insurance company the next day. The engine was burned and the fire department disconnected the battery after fire out.

I was driving and I tried to stop and couldn’t and someone ran the stop sign and I hit them and totalled my car and I just got off the phone with the investigator and they said it was due to my abs. And I seen the abs light on my dash and when I took it to bridgt breaks they told me it was fine.

The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the engine revved but the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that after multiple attempts, he was able to restart the vehicle and drive. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where the failures could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

On three separate occasions my car has completely shut off while driving! I purchased it brand new in August 2022. Each time there was no warning lights or anything. I would notice I was losing speed. When I would look down at the dashboard and notice all the lights were off and the entire car was off. Each time it has happened I have been able to slow down and pull over. I've had to put the car in to "park" then restart the engine. It's a terrifying experience and I feel lucky that there were no cars in front of me. This has happened 3 times! twice I had children in the car. Once I was going 70 mph and another time I was turning a curve. It has been by far one of the scariest things in my life. I took it to the dealership multiple times but they can not replicate the problem so they keep dismissing the case. The Hyundai corporation has also dismissed my case. I've tried reaching out to the attorneys and the dealership owner. The car should not be allowed on the road. At this point I'm driving with a video camera per advice of an attorney. However, I'm terrified for when this will happen again. It has happened at random and unpredictable times so I never know. I posted on a facebook group and a few other people have commented that their Hyundai's are doing the same thing! they are running into the same problem with dealerships and corporate dismissing the cases.

The wiring connection between the blower motor into the hvac resistor is melting. There looks to be burn marks on the plastic female plug that goes into the resistor. I sometimes smell like plastic is burning. I have to keep fan at max speed to not use the resistor at all. I believe this could be a fire hazard.

The car loses power randomly. It typically happens at a stop light or a stop sign, usually within the first 10-15 mins of starting the car. It hasn’t happened after or while the car is driven for a long period of time. However, it has happened while getting on to the highway and while making turns into intersections. When the car loses power, there is no warning. Sometimes, it is hard to put the car into park and restart the car when it loses power. Oddly, however, when it loses power/ stalls/ shuts off, if the radio or other devices are on, they stay on. Symbols that appear on the dash when the car shuts down include the engine, oil, and battery lights. These lights also come on when you first cycle to start the car. We’ve taken the car to a Hyundai dealership and they said that they can’t find any codes, when they connect the car to a code reader.

Loss of brake traction, there's no pressure applied to control spinning wheel when driving in the rain or sleet. The wheel kept spinning when traction was suppose to kick in to help prevent sliding. I had to pump the brake as I slide in the rain and recent snow in ohio. Dec 26, 2022 dennis Hyundai confirmed faulty hecu/abs control module. The car is currently at Hyundai's dealership for further testing. The warning light came on, but went out a week before taking the 2015 Hyundai Accent to be serviced.

Airbag light turns on/off. Had dealership investigate and found that it is related to the occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat. Code was reset (no work performed) and remained off 7 months and now is back on. Could be related to weather (comes on more frequently during fall & winter). Dealer states it is a b1767 code and will need OCS mat replaced.

The vehicle is giving jerks while driving and can't move. I had reported to hyuandai,stockton -they inspected and said no issues. After I got and travlled for another 200-500 miles, the car having same issues and stop on the free way,when iwas with my family and kids. The car was towed to hyuandai stockon and they said the cylinders and power plugs were misfirmed. Thye kep the car for one week and they replaced the parts. Thye requested me to take the car and drive, but I was not comfortable/feeling safe to drive that car- as they were not guarantee me that it will happen again and also they were not giving answers why it was not deducted in there inspection, when I nrought to their notice. They were not giving the reasons/root cause of why it happened and they were not assuring that it will not happen agaian. I reported to hyuandai customer relations, they were saying me to take the car and drive and see if any issues arrives. But I need assurance from them, that it will not happen again and I don't want to keep my life in risk driving faulty car. Please help us.
