36 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

2009 Hyundai Accent driver side sun visor just wont stay in up position. My car has very few miles for being a 2009 model for this to happen. I am a male and never use the sun visor for the mirror or the sun because I always were sun glasses. My visor falls now and impedes my driving. This should be a safety recall because if this were to happen while I was driving, it could have cause an accident. I have found many similar complaints online as I researched this problem for a possible recall from Hyundai.

38 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

The sun visor will not stay up. There is a plastic part inside that holds it in place and that apparently broke. The sun visor is not usable and just hangs down obscuring my field of view. This is a huge danger since I can't see more than 50 feet ahead of my car now and will not have time to slow down for an accident.

39 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/18/2014

Passenger sun visor come out. Put it back in through the hole but did not stay. Few months later, driver side sun visor came out as well.

40 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

Left sun visor snapped off as I was leaving my driveway on a sunny day. I disconnected the wiring and visor so as to improve visibility. I am waiting for a recall in order to have the repair/replacement completed.

41 Wiper problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 02/11/2014

As I was driving, the driver side visor dislodged from its swivel point obstructing my view and distracted me from driving. Months later, the passenger side has done the same thing. Both now just hang from the wire connecting it to the lighting component. Very dangerous and scary!.

42 Wiper problem of the 2007 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/10/2014

I was driving on the interstate when my visor simply fell and hit me in the face. It will no longer stay up or in the "down" position, it only hangs there blocking a good portion of the windshield. I have to use the rear view mirror to prop the thing up so that I can see to drive. I feel fortunate that when it fell it did not startle me enough to cause an accident. It is a hazard to not be able to use it in the sun, I live in arizona and it is brutal here. The passenger side visor is also starting to show signs of not staying in place, not as much of a safety issue, but still a problem.

43 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

The drivers side sun viser will not stay in place anymore and just hangs down, which hinders visability and gets annoying.

44 Wiper problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/08/2013

While driving in the city my driver's side sun visor fell down right in front of my field of vision. It had to be removed because it would not stay up anymore.

45 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

I have had my 2008 Hyundai for several years now, and I love it, but the plastic pieces/sun visors in the model have broken off. I have looked for some online, and they have ridiculous prices. It seems to be a large problem with Hyundai, and eventually someone's life/lives will be endanger, because the visibility isn't great. I have tried to fix them but, they both driver/passenger need to be replaced. I checked out reviews online, and many people have complained of the visors just breaking off quickly. Please know that because my warranty is up, I cannot replace them but, this is an ongoing issue with not only myself but, several others around. This product needs to looked at. I would not recommend anyone to this vehicle if I knew how much plastic visors/ handle would break off so easily.

48 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

As I was driving my 66k mile 2008 Hyundai Accent GLS I put my driver sun visor down and it literally snapped off in my hand last night and I am driving and trying to hold it up so I can see the road!.

49 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/23/2013

While driving my car the sun visor came out of the socket and would not stay. This was a shock and could have caused an accident due to unexpected internal failure/defect of car part that was not caused by the driver, anything living, dead, real or unreal. This has happened to the drivers side and was fixed by a Hyundai dealer a few months back, now the passanger side sun visor is doing the same. I would have taken it back to the dealer but when the drivers side sun visor was replaced I was told that the warranty for something like this was up. Whats going on with these sun visors, are they programmed to give out after a period of time? this is not ok!.

50 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The driver's side sun visor made an odd sound (like a pop) then flopped down into my daughter's line of vision. Yesterday afternoon, the passenger's side visor did the same thing.

51 Wiper problem of the 2007 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/16/2013

Driver's side sun visor failure - the friction rod inside the sun visor suddenly lost its ability to hold the sun visor in place, resulting in the sun visor dropping unpredictably into the driver's line of sight. This poses a significant safety hazard while driving. Apparently this is a known design/manufacturing defect with Hyundai vehicles of this era, and the manufacturer has subsequently produced a redesigned sun visor that is reportedly not susceptible to this type of failure. However, the manufacturer has not issued a recall, instead opting to sell the new part to affected consumers for $150-200.

52 Wiper problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

My wife and I, both over sixty, were driving back from ohio to connecticut on the penn rt 80, it was snowing and the road surface was slippery but drive-able. About five miles before the milesburg, PA exit, the car began to loose power and the windshield and the wipers iced up such that our visibility was impaired. I had to stop on the unplowed shoulder of the highway to clear the ice. It was very dangerous as large speeding trucks and cars were passing close by. The traffic included an irate penn state plow driver who beeped and yelled at us. When we restarted our trip, the Hyundai Accent would not go faster than about 15 - 18 miles per hour. We managed to get off the exit while riding on the snow covered shoulder after a very long and strenuous ride. The next day we drove the car, which ran perfectly, to the Hyundai dealer at state college. The car checked out fine. The dealer guessed that the car went into a "limp home" mode because of the road conditions. I concerned that this car company would design a system that would put a couple of senior citizens in such life threatening peril. I feel that we were very lucky, any one of those big rigs could have easily crushed us. Other drivers, put in the same situation, may not be so lucky. Why was this unsafe "limp home" approved by the government?.

53 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/16/2013

The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Accent. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph during the night and attempted to merge into a lane when suddenly, another vehicle crashed into the front driver's side door. There were no injuries. A police report was filed of the incident. The contact was able to drive the vehicle from the scene of the crash. The failure was contributed to the rear window edges that were designed with darkened material, causing a blind spot. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 14,200.

54 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

Driving down the highway at approximately 50 mph, there was a very small bump in the road which caused the sunvisor to fall and totally block my vision. Now it will not stay up. Upon investigation, this is a very common problem on many Hyundai's. They recalled some models, but most they did not. This is a known problem because the replacement part has been completely redesigned.

55 Wiper problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

My wife and I both own 2010 Hyundai Accents, and the visors on both have broken and make visibility while driving very limited. I've tried various methods of keeping it up, but it continues to fall down while I'm driving. The plastic parts that make it swivel up and down, and rotate from the front to the side window break very easily. I decided to file this complaint after reading several other similar experiences online. These parts should be recalled and replaced with something that at least functions the way it should. It's not safe.

56 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

When I flipped my visor down on the driver's side, it fell out of its socket causing the wires to exposes, and to loose visibility. It keeps falling out of the socket in front of my face while driving.

57 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

Sun visor started dropping into driver's view on it's own in 2012. Driver was able to prop it back up until it the plastic clamp that keeps it tight on rotating arm broke. It became a visibility problem while driving, so visor had to be removed. We contacted Hyundai who told us it was not under warranty and we would have to pay $150 to have it replaced.

58 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/13/2012

This issue directly affects the sun visor of the vehicle. When driving down the highway, attempting to move the sun visor down to block the sun resulted in the plastic sheathing to break that covers the metal tube inserted into the sun visor. As the plastic is what keeps the sun visor up and out of the way, the sun visor now falls and blocks the visibility of the driver, regardless of position. It has become increasing difficult to drive now that the driver no longer has a sun visor that will stay in the correct position, and it continues to block the direct view of the driver. For now, the driver has removed the sun visor just to have some visibility when driving. I have heard many complaints from other drivers of this model as well, and these same visors are put in 06-11 Hyundai Accents. There is already a service bulletin for Hyundai sonatas with the same issue, but I haven't seen one for any of the Accent models. This bulletin number for the sonata's is 09-01-003, group campaign, dated February of 2009. A replacement is around $150, which is extremely high for a defective product that will fail again and should be corrected before being sold to someone. Also, as this is directly a safety issue, this should be repaired without cost if qualified under a recall/service bulletin.

59 Wiper problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/18/2012

The visor on the driver side broke and just hangs there. The brakes now on three different occasions have failed to stop the car at slow speeds. When the brake is pressed it feels as though they are crumbling. And the car jerks around. Has been brought back to the dealership twice to be told that its just what anti lock brakes do. I have never had that happen on any other car I have owned with antilock brakes. I will never own another Hyundai again, nor will I ever buy anything from that dealership.

60 Wiper problem of the 2011 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

While driving on the highway it suddenly started raining very heavily. I turned on my windshield wipers and nothing happened. The wipers did not work and I was unable to see. It turns out the windshield wiper motor failed. Apparently this has been a problem in the past and recalls were ordered, but not for my model year even though the problem apparently still persists. Looking on Hyundai Accent message boards and forums this is a common problem. Please issue another recall and Hyundai fix their cars before someone gets killed.

61 Wiper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

While driving, I pulled down the sun visor to shield my vision from the sun. I heard a strange cracking noise and the sun visor became very floppy. It will no longer stay in the up position, and this posed a visibility problem, and so I was forced to remove the sun visor. Now I have no way to shield my eyes from the sun, which also poses a visibility problem.

62 Wiper problem of the 2006 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Driver's side visor would not go up for a year and hung down, affecting my visibility and was a huge risk when driving. Due to the visor hanging down, it eventually became weak on the left corner and was hanging by the electrical cords (for the light) and fell off completely. Now I do not have a visor at all and it affects my driving immensely as I have nothing to keep the sun out of my eyes. I have contacted Hyundai several times about this issue and they claim to know nothing about it, but I know four other Hyundai owners who this has also happened to.

63 Wiper problem of the 2006 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/18/2011

Driver's side visor breaks off attachment- hangs from ceiling unless locked into place-useless and potential hazard. Lamp connected to opening the mirror cover does not work. Had it replaced at the beginning of the year following breaking. Last month- right side visor breaks in the same fashion and once again, does not stay unless locked into place, a potential hazard, useless and the lamp that is supposed to turn on when the mirror cover is opened does not work again. Many people have had the same issues. Needs to be recalled, this is apparently a defect of the parts.

64 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/22/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the sun visor was attached by a thin wire that caused it to slightly detach from the roof of the vehicle. The sun visor obstructed the view of the driver. The failure occurred to both front sun visors. The contact took the vehicle to Hyundai of auburn (823 opelika rd, auburn, al 36830; 334-321-0777) who diagnosed that the mechanism that held the sun visors in place and the sun visors themselves needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

65 Wiper problem of the 2000 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that when driving in inclement weather 5mph and above, the windshield wipers suddenly stopped functioning. The manufacturer was then contacted and they advised him that he was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and a independent mechanic and they advised him that the windshield motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 181,000.

66 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the driver's side sun visor detached from the plastic holder. As a result, the instrument panel wires that were attached to the sun visor also failed and caused the entire instrument panel to darken. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000 and the approximate current mileage was 50,000. Kmj.

67 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/14/2010

Sun visors are broken on both the driver and passenger sides. I've been looking on the web this morning and am amazed by how many other people seem to have the same issue with their visors. It's really quite problematic as these both don't function properly now and hinder visibility from inside this rather small car. The driver side visor is hanging from what looks like some type of cord on the left hand side. I am unable to secure it back up and it is constantly flapping around. I live in texas and the sun is brutal here while driving, and the visor is really necessary for a safe trip. I have at times had to hold it up with one hand while I'm driving to be able to block the sun and see the road. The passenger visor has a different problem and is no longer able to be adjusted, so I have it tacked up behind the rearview mirror with the extension that slides out on the right. The passenger visor broke within the first year I had the car, the driver's side broke during the second year. With the number of people complaining about this and the safety issues it presents, I really feel Hyundai should be made accountable to fix this. I've never had this happen in any other car I've owned and it really seems that they could come up with a better design or parts!.

68 Wiper problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/05/2010

Passenger side sun visor broke, will not stay up, a few months later the same thing happened to the drivers side. As many complaints that there are out there it amazes me that this is not a recall, when the visor is completely down it blocks vision, when on the side, same thing. I've replaced with the same oem visors, (only ones available) and they broke as well. Seems like a safety hazard over a couple dollar part to improve the visor??.

69 Wiper problem of the 2000 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/23/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Accent. While driving approximately 5 mph in a light, rainy drizzle, the contact heard a strange noise when the windshield wipers were activated. The wipers failed to operate. There was no warning prior to the failure. The dealer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 00v096000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer;linkages), although the failures were identical. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000 and current mileage was 84,000.

70 Wiper problem of the 2007 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/26/1988

Drivers side vanity mirror wouldnt stay up (like so many others) less then 2 days after purchasing from used car dealership (2007 Accent, bought in 2016). Since the thing wouldnt stay up while driving and I had someone following me to get someplace they needed to be ASAP, I just ripped the darn thing off because it was already cracked on the support bar. It came right off with very little effort required. I dont use it so I have no intention of having it fixed using velcro to hold it up after its put back in place. I removed the wiring and bar attachment. Im just grateful there was no traffic at the time, so there was little chance of an accident (other than accidental drift to the side).
