I've been driving this vehicle as a secondary owner since 64k miles, it's now at about 71k. I keep up with maintenance regularly, but lately it's developed a bit of a noticeable ticking especially when cold, and idles pretty rough when cold, seems to get better as the vehicle heats up. 3 times, all spaced out by a couple of months I've also experience a refusal to start, trying again usually gets it to start but one of those times it almost sounded like it was misfiring since it seemed to stumble and nearly stall. I've taken it to two shops and not one of them and has been able to determine the underlying issue like it's not even there, one of them only suggested a battery replacement which funny enough seemed to help it until recently, will be taking to Hyundai soon perhaps but I see a trend of very similar symptoms on here.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 mercedes- benz cla 250. While stopped at a traffic light the vehicle stalled. The gear shifter failed to move into neutral . The brake and accelerator pedal depressed to the floor . There were no warning lights illuminated. The police assisted with moving the car off the highway. The vehicle was towed to mercedes-benz of los angeles 801 s figueroa st, los angeles, CA 90015 (213) 425-3100 who stated that a starter was needed however diagnostic testing was not completed and vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 21,100. Ap.
Possible crankshaft sensor failure. Car will not start properly or stalls after starting and shifting gears. Happens every few months. New battery, spark plugs and tune up completed July 2018. No alternator/starter issues noted after mechanical testing.
Vehicle keeps shutting off/ stalling. First dealer claimed it was a yaw rate sensor. Sensor was changed and did not solve issue. It was also experiencing fuel pump problems, gas would leak when filling and gas would not calculate mileage or update. Second dealer did not see a fuel pump problem. Now believes its a ecm problem. They did not want to cover it under warranty.
The engine seized while driving on the highway and the car stalled out.
Car stutters, rpms drop, and car stalls when it comes to a complete stop at stop sign or traffic light. This happens when driving without warning in all conditions-- hot/cold, morning/evening, etc. Following this, car will be difficult to restart and slow to accelerate; then rpms raise to 5 and car goes into gear. This has been happening since April 2017 and has been to the dealer 3 times. (4th time tomorrow).
After 50k miles the car started to idle rough. Changed spark plugs, air filter, etc. Still ran rough. Car now stalls out when stopped in traffic, and lately will not accelerate up to speed from a stopped position too well. Started to hear a 'clicking' noise that is synced when I press the gas. The vehicle is now stalling when I put it in reverse as well.
On numerous occasions, my car would stall out during left turns ( middle of intersections) and while accelerating on an entrance ramp. There were no warning lights prior to stalling. I took it in for service/ diagnostics. I was told it is possible for the Elantra to suck up to 1qt of oil per 1000 miles! due to the mechanics of the car, it could stall out while turning if low on oil. I was due for my regular oil change and it was completed during this service at which time they stated I was 2 qts low !! it was suggested that I come in every 2000 miles to have it checked. My concern is -without warning lights, do I have to stall in the middle of an intersection to let me know my oil is low ????.
Update to ticket # 1119161 - 4 separate appts, with,90 plus days accumulated total at a hyunda service center expanding 21 months and 15000 miles. 43 days at current service dept with no update, vehicle continues to stall while driving, electrical malfunctions continue to expand after interior was soaked from a confirmed/repaired defect in sunroof frame. Beyond the ability of service technicians to diagnose, engineer inspected and confirmed vehicle stalling while driving and messed up interior July 2016 from sunroof leak, repairs have been made but vehicle continues to stall while driving, in addition electrical malfunctions continue to devolop that Hyundai will not resolve, vehicle was in buyout review with Hyundai but was stopped due to my complaint filed which south carolina consumer affairs requesting a repurchase that Hyundai denied. Vehicle is not safe nor am I being told what's going on. If technician cant diagnose a confirmed issue by their engineer then why is vehicle still at service center and why are they not calling to advise after 43 days.
When I first purchased the vehicle it stalled out on the freeway. Took it to Hyundai but they could not duplicate issue. I have also had thick white smoke come out of the trail pipe on multiple occasions. The smoke is so heavy that I can't see the cars behind me. The dealership also can't duplicate this when I take it in so I haven't been able to diagnose the issue. To top it off I traded in a v6 that was getting 23 mph for the Elantra so that I could save money on the combined 32 mpg. Not even close. In town is 21 mpg. Combined is normally 23 mpg. Another issue happens when I brake. If I need to brake fast and hard it sounds and feels like the car it's going to fall apart. This issue I haven't bothered to report as I am just so disappointed with all the issues. I have been a loyal Hyundai owner of different models since 1999. I have a feeling this will be my last Hyundai.
