Nexen n5000 series tires. I had two with side bubbles and two that the treads are separating from the tires. It looks like retreads. One tire was ready to separate at any moment. I have pictures of all the tires and a document from the auto repair place. Luckily, we could this in time before my daughter would have been killed due to these tires.

I have a brand new Hyundai Elantra gt with 17" wheels. It has about 3200 miles on it. I know that I recently hit a pothole on the highway, but nothing that I thought was very serious. I discovered a bubble on my left front tire shortly thereafter and ordered a brand new nexen 215/45r17, which is the brand the car came with. When the shop installed the tire, they discovered that my other front tire also had a smaller bubble on it. I am now getting that replaced as well. There are discussion forums online detailing case after case of Elantras with 17" wheels having bubbles, blow-outs on the highways etc. . Read more...

The tire blew out the side wall. Now there are bubbles appearing on the other tires. I contacted continental tire. Was told to take it to a continental tire dealer and give them file # [xxx]. I went to discount tire and they said continental tire would cover 50% of the two tires to be replaced, file # [xxx]. I believe that the tires are defective. I am afraid that the other 2 factory tires are going to do the same thing. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My low tire pressure light came on so I pulled into the next gas station and noticed that 3 out of my 4 tires had a bubble on the outside sidewalls. Tires are hankook p215 45r 17 87h - dot 5m24 dlh - only one of the tires had this number at the end (4711). I called hankook hq at (855) 275-8899 and the person was very short with me tell me they never had a tire recall even though they did have a voluntary recall. I have contacted the dealership and waiting for their return call.

I have had to replace two different continental contipro contact tires size: 215 45 r17 due to sidewall damage. (bubbles on sidewalls). Car was purchased new 6 months ago and only has 6,000 miles on it. When first tire needed replaced car had about 3,000 miles. That was the passenger side front. The one this week was the driver's side front. I have been driving for 27 years. And prior to this have only had one tire with a problem the sidewall and that was over 20 years ago. Again, second tire needing replaced for bubbles on sidewall on a 6 month old car with 6,000 miles. Tire dealer said they see alot of problems with the "45" tires. These tires are being put on many brands of cars as standard equipment. As they were on mine. It does not seem like these tires are safe. Please look into this problem. As a failed sidewall can be very dangerous, if not deadly.
