My right front studded snow tire ( purchased oct of 2008) suddenly lost air on an interstate highway. I pulled over and the tire was half down. I went back to the seller today and they said I needed a new tire $97 and they have valve stems that go bad all the time.

I purchased new tires for my vehicle in 2006, I drive only about 8000 miles a year. I have had two flat tires this year, one on 5/21/08 and the other on 8/31/08 and both were cause by faulty valve stems. With the incident on 8/31/08, my tires were all inflated properly when left I the house to run errands. I left one parking lot, turned on the main street and within seconds I knew something was wrong and I had a flat. It happened all of a sudden. The flat was fixed (roadside assistance) and I then went back to sears where I had purchased the tires. I had the roadside hazard agreement. The technician at the auto center said there had been a problem with valve stems. I saw something on tv about a horrible crash that happened when the very same thing happened to some man. I was lucky, I had only turned onto the main street and was not going very fast.

The contact owns a 1996 Hyundai Elantra. The valve stems on the vehicle constantly fail and cause the tires to flatten. While driving 40 mph, the valve stem failed and flattened the tire. On may 22, 2008, while driving 65 mph, the valve stem failed again, the tire lost air, and the rear of the vehicle began wobbling. When the contact inspected the tires, they were fine with the exception of the valve stem. The store from where the tires were purchased stated that the rim was bent and the tire was his responsibility. Four valve stems were lost in five weeks. The contact wanted to make it clear that there is nothing wrong with the tires, only the valve stems. The failure mileage was 98,000. Updated 07/22/08

I bought my Hyundai elentra 2004 brand new. When I bought it I took it back because the tires leaked at the valve stems. And when it gets hot it starts to tick. When I took it back to where I bought it they treated me like I was dumb. I ended up paying for this myself. My car however still ticks.
