1 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 03/27/2023

I got this used car from Hyundai courtesy in late 2020. My issue with this used car is that there is no tpms reset button to get the tires back to have the same tire pressure. Even with battery mode reset done, the tires are always out of sync after a few days or hours. I do go to the dealership to get the tpms fixed but after a few days, it is back to out of sync. I am writing to the safety board to inform them and hopefully, Hyundai corporate can look into this electrical issue.

5 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 01/31/2015

I am the original owner of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra gl with hankook optima model 426 205/55r/16 tires. I did all rotations at 6000 miles and alignments once a year as the car manufacturer specfies. This vehicle is also equiped with a tire pressure monitoring system (tps). Which never indicated any problems with proper inflation. Even with full tread these tires had almost zero traction in any weather conditions were there was any accumulation of rain or snow. These are stated as all season radials and they do not preform as such. My tires were down to the wear bars 3/32' tread left with 29791 miles on the odometer. The manufacturer lists these as 50,000 mile rated tires. When I questioned Hyundai they refered me to hankook telling me the manufacturer knows all about the problems with the tire and is handling all complaints I contacted hankook customer service at 800-426-5665 and spoke with jeanette at ext. 616 I was first told all I needed to do was have a one of their local tire distributors verify tread depth. I had the tires replaced at town fair tires. Then I asked the manager at town fair tires to call them to verify. Which he was happy to do. The story changed two days later the manager called and was told they didn't know what he was talking about, he called me I called them and then they remembered the conversation and said" they would call him back". Then he was told they needed pictures emailed to them of the tires. An hour later I was told by hankook they need the actual tire skins. Since it had been three days since I had the tires replaced the distributor's recyclers had already picked up the tires and they were no longer available. All I was looking for was the industry standard tire allowance for lack of preformance. Which now they are refusing to do for me without the tires. Can you help me? these are dangerous products on our roads and need to be removed.

7 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 08/04/2012

I bought my 2013 Elantra on 7/17/12 from orlando Hyundai. On 8/4/12 while driving on I-95, the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) light began to flash. I immediately pulled into the nearest tire shop and had the tire pressure checked on all 4 tires and they were all fine. The mechanic suggested I have my dealership take a look and possibly have them reset the sensors. Upon my arrival home, I took my car to the dealership and they were unable to provide a reason for the sensors going off. The issue persisted for several months causing me to spend countless hours at the dealership. They even went as far as to keep my car for over a week, drive it several miles and replace the entire system including all four tire sensors. Despite this, the tpms light still flashes. They have attempted to convince me that usb and aux cords in my car (used with my phone) are causing a signal interference with the sensors. In my opinion that is a bogus excuse. The car should not have the features if they are unable to coexist. The dealership has also attempted to reassure me that nothing is wrong with the car and it is safe to drive even while the tpms light is flashing. I do not believe this either as I constantly have a safety feature alerting me to believe otherwise. I have told the dealership and Hyundai headquarters that I believe this car is a lemon on several occasions. They informed me that a car is only a lemon after having the same issue fixed 3 times. Thus far I have had my tpms fixed twice. I do not feel safe at all driving this car with dysfunctional features.

9 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2008 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

Have a 08 Elantra. After driving it for few miles I had my tpms light went on. I contacted the dealer, he checked and said this may be due to the cold weather. Again the next day the light went on. The tire pressures were accurate. Dealer ordered a front tpms valve. Again after some miles the light started to glow in the panel. Unfortunately when I went to the dealer the light went off. The dealer said there is no problem. Again the next day morning the light went on. I drive a lot of highway miles, it was always really hard for me to park the car in the emergency stopping area and check what was wrong with my car. Dealer again ordered new valve and replaced it (took 3 days). Called Hyundai left a message with one of the managers. They told if the problem persists they are going to send me a field officer for inspection. But I think my dealer changed all the tpms valves and he said they are recalibrated and I should not be having any problem. After that I stopped traveling highway miles. Now I drive in the city and a few days back the light again went on. I need call dealer and Hyundai and speak with them. This is a serious issue as tpms says what's wrong with your tire, so if the light goes on we think there is something wrong and we pull our car back and check it. It is really dangerous and also hard to pull car back in a highway(need to search for rest areas). I have all the service papers which have the mileage records in them. Sorry to have not posted it.

10 Tire Pressure Monitoring System problem of the 2002 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 08/02/2008

On July 30, 2008 I was sold 2 new tires by walmart after only 20,000 miles on a 60,000 mile warranty. On August 2, 2008 I had to take the car to big o tires because the air was low in my new front tire. . Big o discovered 2 nails in my back sidewalls. The front driver side new tire had no new valve stem. The rim of that tire was bent (and should have been caught 4 days prior and would not allow the seal and the air could not stay in the tire. The passenger side tire had not been properly seated and could result in a serious accident if I were to hit anything. All of these things should have been apparent 4 days earlier. I am writing to express my serious concern for the safety of the walmart patrons and a serious problem for the goodyear tire company. ?there were 2 nails in my back side-wall that would have been visible when the car was raised. ?there was a bent front driver side wheel that would have been easy to see and alert me to 4 days prior (and I paid for a 16 point inspection). ?the right front tire was not seated, thus making me vulnerable to having a flat tire immediately upon any impact. ?I had no new valve stems on my new tires in the front. ?any and all of this information can be verified by witnesses and the staff at walmart and at big o tire center. ?below you will find both addresses and telephone numbers. ?please do something about this flagrant disregard for the health and safety of consumers, their passengers, and people who might be driving on the same road when a tire blows out, falls off, or deteriorates! I have the work order for July 30, 2008 and a statement in writing from big o tires. Walmart service center 4210 east highland Ave highland, CA 92346 big o tire at 2536 e. Highland Ave. Highland, CA 92346 909-862-4980 9) 425-8846.
