46 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/10/2023

This car, along with millions of others, are under a recall since sept 2023. The car could catch on fire even when parked. They have not come up with a fix. I feel that this is an extreme danger to not only myself and my property, but to others living around me. They are taking way too long for a fix to be determined and the work to be done.

47 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

Recall issued for significant fire risk from abs system. It has been over a year now and Hyundai will not even give a time estimate of when they will offer to replace the fuse block that is the fire risk. They tell me to just park my car far from any buildings?!? this is not a reasonable plan nor should it be this long. Waiting for the day my car combusts is not reasonable. Nhtsa recommended that the dealer offer a loaner vehicle but they have not done that either.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/12/2023

Brakes are spongy/soft - my car has been inspected by a Hyundai dealership and an abs control module replacement has been recommended at cost of $2901. A safety recall campaign was issued in 2012 to include "certain 2009-2012my Genesis (bh) produced from April 30, 2008 to March 28, 2012 (recall #114). On may 9, 2022, TSB #22-br-001h-1 was issued. My car's VIN indicates that my car was produced March 30, 2012 and the repair under the "extended warranty" has been denied because my car was produced two days later and therefore not included in the safety recall. I have reached out to Hyundai and I have a case manager assigned to me.

50 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Parts distribution disconnect.

51 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/15/2023

The brakes on my 2010 Genesis coupe suddenly stopped working while on the freeway, luckily I was able to swerve into the carpool lane and avoid an accident. Upon taking it to tuttle click Hyundai I was told a master technician had to review it, which would cost $200 just to look at it. When the technician looked at the car, I was told it needed a new brake booster. Hyundai apparently no longer makes this part so the dealership had to locate an aftermarket replacement which costs about $1,100. I did note to the dealership that there was recalls on other 2010 Genesis cars for similar issues, but was told the recall was for the sedans, not the coupe and that they/Hyundai would not cover it. Upon installing the brake booster and bleeding the brakes, it was found that I also need a new abs module, which will cost up to $4,000 to find and install. Another user posted this same issue to the NHTSA in October 2022.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

Intermittent softening of brake pedal when applying pressure to brake while driving and when parked. The brake pedal becomes soft where the vehicle does not slow down because the brake is not applied until you push further. Applying full pressure on the brakes sometimes does not bring the vehicle to a complete stop. This is unsafe because when driving on the highway and traffic comes to a sudden stop, the time for my car to come to a complete stop is significantly and dangerously delayed. If driver does not keep a distance that is more than normal, vehicle has the possibility of crashing and putting the driver and other vehicles near in danger. When taken to clay clooney Hyundai of mesquite, they did not acknowledge recall because there is no remedy for it. The failure of the brake pressurization began early summer of 2023. The vehicle is ready for an inspection to resolve the recall upon request.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 03/27/2023

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while driving at 10mph, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 13v489000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 181,000.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 03/16/2023

After having repeat brake issues and bringing the brake issues to the attention of the authorized dealer: steele Hyundai south loop in houston, TX. There was no resolution. I visited with the management of steele Hyundai on March 10, 2023. I was in a car accident on March 16, 2023 where brake failure occurred. I took the vehicle to firestone on March 25, 2023 for a full inspection. Firestone determined the brakes were not repaired properly.

55 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

I was driving home on January 1, 2023 at 5 am at about 60 mph on an interstate when I heard a sound come from the back of my car and then looked into the rearview mirror and smelled smoke and saw fire flames in my rear and side mirrors. I tried to use my brakes to stop my car, but the brakes would not work, so I took it out of drive and put it into park… which slowed the car down and I was able to exit the car right before it burst into flames. The car is now a total loss.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/23/2022

Theres multiple of vehicles like mines that are having the battery terminal issue. And when its loose it cause the car to shut of while at high speed causing the driver to loose power steering and brakes.

57 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/07/2022

The problem is with the car's braking. Sometimes, the brake pedal will exhibit a "low brake pedal" problem, where the point where the brake pedal starts to stop the car is lower than normal. If I use the brakes and then use them again right away, the brakes always stop the car as they should. But sometimes, you have to press the brake pedal further to the floor to get the car to stop. I've had the brake fluid replaced and this didn't change the behavior. The Hyundai dealership said the problem is either a faulty automatic brake system (abs) component or a faulty master cylinder. At this point, the car still stops, however, it's odd to have to press the brake pedal further to have to get the car to stop. As this gets worse, the pedal may have to be pressed to the floor to get the car to stop. And eventually, the car might not stop even if the brake pedal is pressed to the floor. This problem is just like NHTSA recall campaign #13v489000, which affects Hyundai year models 2009-2012. But my car is a 2013, just one year after that recall's model year window.

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/28/2022

Brakes are spongy and do not engage properly.

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/08/2022

My son was driving this car home from college mid-day on October 8. He had not driven the car for 10 days or so while at school and he did notice the brakes making an unusual sound that day he had never heard. While on the highway, there was a sudden stop ahead of him. When he pressed the brakes they completely stopped working and he rear-ended the car in from of him. The brakes were completely non-functional after the crash and he had to try to stop his car as best as he could without brakes. Luckily there were no injuries, however complete brake failure out of the blue is obviously enormously dangerous. The tow truck driver confirmed that brakes did not work at all and speculated that a "brake-line snapped". I have no idea if that is true or why he thought that. The car is totaled and no inspection of the car has taken place. We have the car at our house and it is available for inspection as we try to figure out what to do with it. There were no warning lights prior to the issue. Less than a week after the accident we received a notification of extended warranty from the car manufacturer regarding a possible issue related to brakes. And we have read about other braking issues that have evidently arisen over the years with this model year car.

60 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/22/2022

On September 22, 2022 while traveling at about 65 mph on state highway 57 in CA, I came upon a sudden group of cars hitting their brakes and had to slam on my brakes but my 2010 Genesis coupe did not stop and I had to swerve into an entrance lane on my right to avoid a serious collision. Fortunately there were no cars entering the highway on that entrance. I was then able to drive a short distance home. On may 26, 2022 I had my car serviced including the brakes by service auto care and my car gave me no brake problems until this incident. On September 23 I brought my Genesis coupe to service auto and explained what happened. The brakes worked fine on the way to the shop. They tested the brakes and said that the abs module was defective but it was just put under a 15 year extended warranty by Hyundai on may 19, 2022 and to take it to the closest dealer. The dealer, russell westbrook Hyundai of anaheim told me only the sedan was covered. This dangerous defect could occur at any time and cause a severe accident. I hope this report is helpful to the NHTSA and the defective part is replaced without charge. The dealership charged me $205 for an estimate, then wanted $2200 to re-do the brakes and then approximately $4000 to replace the abs module. I have documents to back up everything I have presented.

61 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/14/2022

I was driving to work on 07/14/2022 and my brake pedal was going soft. I than got an abs light and a traction control light. I was concerned and took it in to get a health report on it and to see if there were any codes. The service center than pulled a c2380 code for a faulty hecu. I started researching this code for myself and seen that there have been recalls for this exact thing for the Hyundai Genesis sedans but not the coupes. Please Hyundai revise your list and add the Hyundai Genesis coupes on to it and make this right.

The contact smothered the smoke and noticed that the wiring harness was burned. 63 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/23/2022

The hecu has been malfunctioning in my car for over a year now. It is an open recall for my make, model and year of car. I took it to bob rohrman indy Hyundai and they diagnosed the failed part. This part affects my abs. There are currently two warning lights on one for the ecs which is the traction control stabilizer and the abs light is on. Meaning the use of the breaking system is limited and not working properly. I have asked the corporate Hyundai to uphold the recall warranty but I was advised they would not cover this because my vehicle has a rebuilt title. I drive my vehicle on a daily basis and I’m terrified of my brakes going out. The corrosion from the fluid is what causes the hecu to malfunction and it is so scary to think about. This problem was diagnosed and first reported to my his dealership on 6/23/2022.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Vehicle braking fades in a random manner. An independent service center technician experienced the problem during one test drive. The technician assessed the braking system and stated that the master cylinder is operating correctly and there is no air in hydraulic lines. The tech suggested that it could be an issue with the hydraulic ecu which was part of a recall campaign for prior year models. This condition puts the safety of driver, passengers, and other vehicles on the road at risk. No alerts, warnings, or indicators have been triggered on the dash.
