Purchased this car from a Hyundai dealer and immediately after multiple times the steering has stuck in place while making a left hand turn, not allowing the car to come out of the turn. Also does it slightly while driving on highway straight, but not as forcefully as when in a turn. Very dangerous and Hyundai nor the Hyundai dealer we purchased it from will even take a call from me over it. No check engine lights or warnings. Yes, it was very dangerous for us in the car as well as the other cars on the road. Could have been a very serious accident. I wish Hyundai would take it seriously. The dealer I purchased it from said they had thoroughly checked it out but they wont take any calls from me since purchase. Yes the car is available for inspection upon request.
Electric assisted steering sporadically locking up during turns, requiring effort to unlock. Other times it will lock during hwy driving requiring significant effort to steer the vehicle. Once under 60 mph it unlocks and goes back to normal. This has been happening unexpectedly and without any warnings. Stopping and shutting down the vehicle then restarting will also reset the steering.

Steering wheel sticks in turns, requiring the wheel to be pulled back to center. This is most noticeable on long sweeping highway turns and adds additional effort to operating the vehicle. This is the second time I've had this problem. The first time, at approx. 30k miles, the Hyundai diagnosed and replaced the electric power steering rack, which resolved the issue. Now at 65000 miles, the same issue has returned. There are a number of other people posting on the Genesis forums about this same issue.
Driving and car just quit. Clock turned, wipers went crazy, and then smoke came up the front windshield from the engine. I bailed and left it in the road. Awful and dangerous situation. Dealership wasn’t excepting Genesis anymore. Towed to a dealership 50 min away. Told the engine failed.
Theres multiple of vehicles like mines that are having the battery terminal issue. And when its loose it cause the car to shut of while at high speed causing the driver to loose power steering and brakes.
About 5-6 months ago, when turning left or right, the steering wheel started essentially locking in that position, and I have to yank it back to center. It will not self-center. The dealer was not able to fix it, and it's a very dangerous car to drive now. I will not let any other members of my family drive it. Also, I've had a severe drivetrain vibration for about a year, and over $7,000 was spent on a new driveshaft and transfer case. It is now worse than it was and the dealer doesn't know what to do. Even with only 34,000 miles on the car, it is out of warranty, and Hyundai doesn't seem to care. I have installed brand new tires hoping that it might help both situations, but it didn't. I'm just at my wit's end now. I guess I will just have to park the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Upon driving many warning lights light up and make warning signals on the instrument dashboard. These warning lights light up at the same time or in succession and include: check bid system, tire pressure, check engine light, skid control, check bsd system, and others. In addition, brakes become sticky and steering is affected. Worse yet, car slows down on its own as it engages crash avoidance system.
Esc failed. I was attempting to make a left turn from a stopped position at a typical intersection. I lost control of the vehicle as it started to fishtail once I began the turn. Brakes did not respond and I ended up hitting the curb on the outer lane with both front and rear tires. Side curtain and passenger seat airbags deployed. Vehicle is now a total loss. I believe the faulty esc poises a lot more risk that just a fire. From other reports on Genesis forums by consumers like me, this problem with Hyundai's esc seems to be a common and reoccurring problem. Recall should be updated to include that esc may fail and makes the vehicle unsafe to drive.
While driving on the highway at 65mph the driver front tire wables, the tires feel unsafe and not stable. When going over long road cracks on the highway the whole car wabbles and if I dont grab the stearing wheel really hard to not loose control of the vehicle. The esc light its always on so I know the traction or stability control is not working properly, also the tpm light is also not working because its always been on since purchased the car.

The positive battery terminal has a design flaw where it will wholly lose conductivity with the battery post due to vibrations, stress and age. After numerous dealer visits where "nothing was wrong" I began to diagnose the issue myself. I tracked it down to faulty positive battery terminal, which due to the lack of manufacturer availability I had to correct myself. It seems to be such a widespread but "unknown" issue with the entire vehicle model that I made a repair guide on the subject with photos: https://genesisowners. Com/genesis-forum/threads/improved-positive-battery-terminal-box. 32768/#post-411757 the primary issue at stake is the sudden, unexpected loss of power steering when maneuvering at low speeds. The vehicle will lose additional safety systems when the battery power is interrupted, such as collision avoidance, parking sensors, airbags and even powertrain control in extreme cases. No manufacturer diagnostic codes will ever be set as the systems in the vehicle do not account for sudden unexpected power loss. Problem is aggravated by objects on trunk floor resting on terminal box. The secondary issue is that when a power interruption occurs while the vehicle is in operation, the vehicle will not properly shut down when the ignition is turned off. Rather than unlocking doors and assisting handicapped drivers via the easy exit seat feature, the car completely dies and does not wake back up. Vigorous door slamming or any other large impact to the body of the car will sometimes bring systems back online, by fractionally moving the positive battery terminal. If systems do not return, the driver is unable to lock the doors or open the trunk. Hyundai does not make the positive terminal a replaceable item, rather, it's only sold as a combined part with a $1400 battery cable (plus 8 hours labor). Dealers and owners alike are averse to replace this part for such a high price, when the battery terminal itself is worth less than $20.
I was driving and every light in the dash came on and the car shut completely down I was able to coast into kfc parking lot to stop and restart.

While approaching a red light on a city street with oncoming traffic, brakes were applied. The car started jerking violently, and the brakes were not working. The car then lost power and then power steering. Fortunately, I was able to man handle the car into a hard right and avoid an accident. This was a life threatening situation. The car was towed to jim ellis Hyundai, 5785 peachtree ind. Blvd. , chamblee GA for repair. The shop was unable to replicate any problem and did not fix anything related to brakes or power steering. The car was purchased back by the dealer and sent to auction to be sold. So much for the next owner. . . . .
Steering wheel holds in position during turns and require opposition force to release it. Researched this online and found other people having the same issue and may require a new steering rack.
While turning right or left at slow rate the vehicle stalls, power steering shuts down. I have reported to Hyundai on 2 occasions. Dealer says issue can't be replicated. Major safety concern and there are numerous reports online of the exact same issue as mine. In motion, city street, turning.
Was driving the car and steering wheel locked on a highway on my way to work. Was able to pull it over cut the car off. Started it back up and was find. Then on the way back home happened again when tried to exit off the highway and ended up in a ditch.

The steering wheel frequently locks in position during left or right turns at speeds between 30 and 70 mph. A deliberate effort is required to return the steering wheel to neutral. My Hyundai dealer shop would not diagnose the problem due to the problem being intermittent, despite the car being under the bumper to bumper warranty.
Lane keep assist freezes up steering wheel while driving making it hard to steer.
Engine just shuts off while driving. It becomes difficult to steer and control. I was barely able to move to the side of the street and the car behind me almost ran into me because of my loss of power. There are no warning lights and the radio, etc. All stayed on during this event. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. While driving 15 mph, the engine started to stall but did not turn off and the steering wheel seized. The contact called south point Hyundai (located at 4610 s ih 35 frontage rd, austin, TX 78745, (877) 824-3142) and notified them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. While driving and making a turn, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the failure recurred. In addition, when the vehicle was shifted into drive, the instrument panel display reversed and the vehicle moved backwards instead of forward. The vehicle was towed to napleton Hyundai glenview (located at 1620 waukegan rd, glenview, IL 60025, (847) 729-8900) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. The dealer suggested that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 15620163. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
When driving during heavy rain on the expressway the car begins to fishtail out of control. It forces the driver to drop their expressway speed to about 45 miles per hour. All the other traffic continues to pass by safely at speeds of 60 to 65 or more. This is a definite safety issue. When it began, I was nearly rear-ended by a semi when I was force to drive slowly in the right lane at only 40 to 45 in a 70 mph zone. If I dared to even try to go any faster the car would begin fishtailing. None of the other traffic had any issue going faster, and I never experienced this in the 2013 Genesis I had previously. I have read of similar complaints and have been told that the car is reacting to its front sensor being 'blinded'. This is definitely a design flaw, and there does not appear to be any way to disable or inform the censor to ignore the present situation.
Since last October, the car's steering has periodically failed to return to center, after taking a right handed curve. The car just keeps turning. We have taken the car back to the dealership where we leased it; however, they have repeatedly failed to fix it. I have looked the problem up on the internet and found that it is definitely a safety problem that must be fixed. Why not fix the problem before peple get hurt?.
2012 Genesis sedan consistently stalls under medium to low speeds while braking or making a turn. All warning lights come on and loss of steering and braking occurs. Car is difficult to control safely without use of emergency brake due to the loss of steering/braking. This incident now occurs with each car trip while traveling on all kinds or roads and at various speeds but not more than 40 miles an hour. I am worried for the safety of my wife and 3 year old child since I take them everywhere with me. Car has been at Hyundai dealership for 4 days and they can not diagnose the problem because there are no fault codes to look up.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off. In addition, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was placed in park and restarted. The contact called the safford Hyundai of springfield dealer at 703-776-9040 (located at 7615 loisdale rd a, springfield, va 22150) and was informed that the failure could be the brakes. The vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was provided by the manufacturer's consumer affairs division. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Car turned off by itself while driving. Steering and braking were affected and not working.
While making a right turn onto ramp engine falls cuts off and I have no control over steering, breaks or anything. Finally got it on to the side of road and put it in park and it cracked right up. This is very scary. What if I had been going fast down the road and could not stop the car. Someone could be killed like this. I decided to look it up on google and found out that lots of other have had the same identical problems and no mechanic or anyone can find anything. Hyundai needs to be held accountable for this and fix there miss up but of course it will take people being killed first.
As im coming to a complete stop at a stop sign I accelerate onto a busy highway and the transmission acted as though it did not want to engage and the motor reved up and caused my vehicle to fish tail. My daughter and I were in the vehicle.
Nhtsa campaign number 16v575000 - my Hyundai is experiencing the exact same symptoms that is portrayed in the campaign number I have listed. I have taken it to a Hyundai dealership multiple times and have been told that they are unaware of what the issue is or have "attempted" to fix the issue yet it still occurs. Now, because I have just surpassed my warranty, the Hyundai dealership is making me pay for all diagnostics and fixes. My VIN, however, does not show that this was a part of this recall. All of my warning indicators illuminate. My steering becomes tight. My backup camera will not work. And my speedometer and tachometer will glitch and not accurately display my speed or rpms. All indicators inside the lcd screen will show me that I have a malfunction. This includes my passenger seat belt, my lane keep assistance, my autonomous emergency braking, my tire pressure, my engine light, as well as my blinkers not properly illuminating or making any sound when turned on. This will occur from time to time and is not always constant. It will also occur at random, whether I am driving, stationary, or if I have just turned my car on for the first time of the day. I have videos and pictures of these events occurring.
After my trip, when I drove the car the handle of the wheel did not move. Don't rotate a steering wheel caused by an outside influence. Hyundai says that an outside influence is a damage caused by rodents. If I drive the car on the highway and the steering wheel does not work. The problem makes the big accident. I think it's a serious problem of the steering wheel which should use thing that is a strong materials and design against external influences. It is necessary to investigate whether the strength of steering wheel parts is proper. I know that the company has recalled similar problems in other models.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact experienced a loss of steering and brake functionality. Various warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to move the vehicle to the side of the road with an excessive amount of effort. The vehicle operated normally after it was restarted. Stevens creek Hyundai (4425 stevens creek blvd, santa clara, CA) diagnosed that a rodent had eaten the wiring in the vehicle and it would need to be replaced. The contact stated that this was the second occurrence of the same failure. Upon research, the contact found that the vehicle used soy coated wiring. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,837.
Engine shutdown and lost steering and brake control when making a right turn. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Details: on both the times, when I was trying to make a right turn at a slow speed the engine shut down and I lost control of steering was well as brakes. I had to put the car in park, in the middle of the intersection and push button to start the car again. Luckily there was nothing in the way (car or a pedestrian), or else there would have been an accident. This could be an even dangerous issue if this happens when making a left turn or when on a freeway. Please issue a recall for this, and have Hyundai fix this problem.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. While driving 20 mph and attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle lost power and the instrument cluster indicators illuminated. In addition, the steering wheel seized and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and run over the median. The contact was able to depress the brake pedal and stop the vehicle. Once at a complete stop, the driver turned off and restarted the vehicle on the first attempt and drove home. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (capitol Hyundai montgomery, 2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al, 36116), but could not be repaired until two and a half weeks later. Due to the delay, the contact declined to proceed with scheduling diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,760.
