36 Steering problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/28/2017

I was attempting to make a left turn into traffic when several dashboard indicators went off and the power steering shut down. My family and I were almost hit by on coming traffic! in seconds I was faced with having to turn off and restart the vehicle in order to get it to work correctly and get out of the road. Got home and parked it over night and the next day the same thing happened again with steering and instrument cluster. I absolutely do not feel safe in this vehicle! 2015 Genesis 5. 0.

38 Steering problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 12/05/2016

Hyundai Genesis sedan 4. 6; when the car is cold such as in December in northeast, the steering wheel is very difficult to turn. When the car is cold, I have to jerk the steering wheel to get the car to turn, particularly turning to the right. After the car heats-up, the steering words o. K. To avoid having a crash when I am turning right or left, I have to allow the car to heat up for 10 minutes before driving it. New power steering fluid has not improved the steering performance.

39 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 08/16/2016

While slowing down to a stop at a stop sign at 15mph the car locked up and I couldn't turn the wheel, press the brake, and the vehicle wouldn't even accelerate when it rolled to a stop. All the lights on the dash lit up and stayed lit up. The car was in drive and wasn't moving. I took a video of my foot off of the gas and the car in drive and it wasn't moving. Also shown in the video I took I show all the lights lit up on the dash. This is the 2nd time this has happened with my family in the car, wife and two kids. I am very concerned since this our daily driver and always has our children in the vehicle that this will happen while on the interstate and possibly cause us to get in a very bad accident. I also could not put the car into park. I had to press the on off button and shut the car completely off and restart it for it to do anything. But both times it happened luckily no vehicles were in front of me because I was unable to do anything to stop the car it had to roll to a stop and both times it was at 15-20mph. It was in a street turning out of a development. I have found in forums that I am not the only person with the issue and that someone had their crank shaft censor replaced and hadn't had any issies for several months since, but theirs was occuring up to 10x a week before that replacement. There were several other affected parts I was unable to select. . . It seemed you were only able to select 3 affected parts.

40 Steering problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

A/c, heater vents located on the bottom (foot) for driver and front passenger are always stay open irregardless what you select. Dealer looked twice, no help. Said that's how all the cars are. I have myself checked the brand new 2017 Genesis parker on the lot and it had the same problem. Your feet will freeze and there is no way to block or close the bottom vents. Also, the haptic steering wheel warning came on at around 5k miles, dealer looked at it order some parts to replace the sensor etc.

41 Steering problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

Driving home on the 405 fwy last night my Genesis r-spec 5. 0 lost all power, electrical and steering. Fortunately, I was on the right lane and was able to maneuver the vehicle off the fwy. I had no lights, no emergency flashers, complete shutdown of power. It was about 9pm and dark luckily it was not in a lane or this could have been fatal as I could not turn on any lights! extremely dangerous and have reported my incident to Hyundai customer care. Vehicle was towed to dealership pending diagnostics.

42 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/04/2015

As I was making a left turn going at a high speed the steering wheel popped out of my hands and made the car go back to the right ending up on a guardrail . The airbags deployed and my car is now totaled . Don't know if my axle broke or the steering wheel locked up but I do know one or the other happened .

43 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/18/2015

Driving the vehicle down a city street, it suddently became next to impossible to steer. Pulled car over, and it felt as though there was no power steering. We were within a mile of our house so we took it home and parked it. The next day we called a wrecker to tow it to the service department. After sitting overnight, the problem was gone, the service department couldn't "replicate" the problem so nothing was done to stop it from occuring again. I'm not certain of the exact date but it was the end of 2015 I believe. We have the service record.

44 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/18/2015

The adjustment on the steering column for telescopic/up/down adjustments doesn't hold the steering wheel in place, even under light pressure like trying to honk the horn, the column just pushes in. Since the column cannot stay in place under light pressure, it won't stay in place if the driver's airbag is deployed possibly causing severe injury or death. I first noticed this problem back in 2015, the local deal refused to fix the problem and wanted me to pay for the new steering column and the labor to replace it.

45 Steering problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

The car just completely shut down. Fortunately, I had just turned for home on a 25 mph street so I was going slow enough that I could manage to at least get the car to the side of the road. Do not know what would have happened 15 minutes earlier if it had shut down on the busy interstate I was on. It did start back up again, but now am afraid to drive it anywhere. Have contacted Hyundai, but if there follow-up is anything like it has been in the past, it will be a waste of my time. They will just say that they cannot reproduce the problem and send us a coffee mug hoping that will resolve the issue. We have had numerous previous electrical issues: such as car starting back up by itself after being shut off, the radio literally popping on and off, the radio locking on a station (you could change channels, but the same station kept playing), the nav turning on and off by itself. The car had been doing okay this year until this most recent incident where it just flat shut off. Do not trust Hyundai to solve the issue and it is to scary to drive. And I don't believe that there is a lemon law in this state. No matter what, I can assure you that this will be my last Hyundai.

46 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

At approximately 7:50am on my way to work, heading westbound on rodeo rd and was going to make a left turn at cloverdale my car stalled. During the stall the engine cutoff and the electrical power in the car seemed to reset itself. As I was coming to a stop, I could feel the brakes not working and I put the car into park and tried to restart the engine by pushing on the start/stop button. When that didn't work, all the power in the car went out and nothing worked, no emergency lights, no power anything. I called roadside assistance and had them tow to the nearest dealership. This is the second time this has happened. The first was on Sunday night September 6th, 2015 at around 8pm in san jose. I put that as a complaint on this system at that time.

47 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

Had a similar problem earlier today while taking the car out to get dinner. As I was approaching the freeway exit my car suddenly stalled and the steering wheel seemed to stiffen and the navi screen went out then back on. I pulled over emergency lane and waited to see what would happen and music continued up again from the usb port but I couldn't change the song. On the navi screen where usb setting is saying " initialization failed". So I pulled the usb stick to reset it and got it to work. I was able to go to dinner then drive back home without incident. But later on that night I tried to start my car but as soon as I hit the start button everything died. No power to anything no alarm no use of keyless entry no power at all. Then I come back to the car a few hours later that night and open the trunk manually with the key to get something and as soon as I slam the trunk down all the power came back hids, brake lights, lexicon system music playing. Except when I try to turn on the engine with the start button it won't start. Then everything shuts off like before I'm at a loss. But eeriely I been having problems like the previous poster with topping of gas issues because the car doesn't know when to stop pumping gas sometimes when full and a few times the car spewed out some fuel. I'm not sure if that is related to my recent stall incident but I've plans to driving from san jose back home to los angeles tomorrow on labor day and I'm scared to. What if the car stalls on mountain freeway over pass and it stalls and lose steering and brakes. I don't know if the dealer is even open labor day. What should I do? help!.

48 Steering problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/02/2015

I owned the car for 9 months and never had a problem in the rain. It was raining and my car safety lights started flashing telling me that front collision warning was not working, lane departure warning was not working, blind spot detection was not working. And to check aeb system. Hyundai told me that although it worked fine for 9 months, that the safety features may not work in the rain.

49 Steering problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

This ihas happened 4-5 times. I was driving on a street, thank god, I was not on hwyway, engine just stalled and streering wheel locked. I was hard but, somehow managed to get on the curbe and avoid a crash. If this would have happened on freeway, it would have been fatal. I think, Hyundai sure know this problem exist in Genesis too. It is same problem ( symptoms) as described in Hyundai's sonata recall. I don't know what is hyundia waiting for. It is a serious problem with a $50,000 car . I have no trust on this car anymore. This would be my last Hyundai. I know, if I take car to dealership , I would hear response that , no issue found. Genesis has a serious engine problem with stalling.

50 Steering problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

After having all three work done on my car: four wheel replaced as stated on their campaign , cowl and electrical wiring replacement under , the vibration on the steering wheel becomes evident/stronger at lower speed(below 25 mph) and at idle. When driving I feel my hands feel tired because of this vibration affecting them. I went back to the dealership at Hyundai long island, queens for the problem but after waiting for hours, I was told that they cannot do anything about the problem . And until now, the vibration is becoming an annoyance.

51 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

As vehicle comes to a stop and gas is pressed to go again- car engine turns off. Radio, air, windows all work. Car is then put in park and starts right up again. Car has done it 6x since June 14th. Dealer can't figure whats wrong with it. Different parts replaced- throttle body and purge valve. Car still dies at a stop. Concerning it will happen in traffic on interstate while driving with my kids in the car.

While driving at 60 mph, speedometer, odometer, turn signals, power steering assist and other accessories stopped functioning.

53 Steering problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

I was driving at 35 mph in the lane, the car on the left lane hit the rear body and tire of driver side, but the car didn't stop even after the impact. After the collision, I pressed very hard on the break pedal to stop, but it kept moving, even increased its speed up to 60 mph, and turned into the different direction. Also the wheel was stuck by itself and I was not able to turn anywhere with my hands. It went off the opposite side of the road without any control. 20 years old Toyota camry was able to stop at the spot of collision, but Hyundai Genesis couldn't. The wheel and the break were both stuck and unable to be controlled and crashed into the electric pole. The air bag was deployed, and Hyundai Genesis was totaled. In 2014, the break recall service was received two times from the dealer. There must be the mechanical failure in the break, speed control, and the wheel which caused this total loss. I was injured and taken by the ambulance later. I never had any accidents like this before with any other cars!.

54 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

I originally bought my 2013 Hyundai Genesis as a certified pre-owned vehicle from a dealer in georgia. From August 2014 to present (August 2015), the vehicle has stalled/cut off unexpectedly on 8 different occasions, 7 times while driving at speeds between 5 mph and 45 mph, and once while sitting idle in park. When stalling, the steering wheel tightens and/or locks which makes it extremely difficult to steer, the brakes harden which make it extremely difficult to stop, and the dash lights up with various symbols and indicators much like it would if it only had power but without the engine started. To get the car going again, I have to come to a stop, put the car into park, push the start/stop button, and the vehicle starts again. On the 7th time of the car stalling, my wife was making a right hand turn when the vehicle cut off. She nearly plowed into a vehicle that was stopped at the light making a left hand turn onto the street she was coming from, and then nearly caused a 3 car pile-up behind her because of her unexpected braking and sudden loss of control of the car. As of right now we are afraid to drive the car any longer. We have taken it to the dealer 3 times now. On the first visit back in October 2014, they cleaned the fuel injection and throttle body, saying that maybe we had a bad batch of gas that left carbon deposits. They kept our car for a week. They were unable to replicate the problem. Fast forward several months and here we are again at the dealer for time number two. This time they kept it for about 12 days and did another cleaning of the fuel injection and throttle body. They were unable to replicate the problem. Last Friday, August 14th 2014, 3 days after getting it back from the dealer, it stalled again. We refused to drive it that weekend, and I drove it only to bring it back to the dealer this past Monday August 17th. We do not feel safe.

55 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

56 Steering problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

While traveling at 65mph the car was cut off and the abs did not work, the rear fishtailed and lost control, slamming into a guardrail at 65mph, the right passenger side front and back were severely impacted, and no air bags were deployed at time of crash. Seat belts did not hold and passengers were hurt. Air bag, failure and seatbelt failure are the major problems with this vehicle.

58 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

I missed my right hand turn that I usually make to exit my community, so I stopped and put the vehicle in reverse using the backup camera as a guide. I noticed that I was getting too close to the sidewalk curbing and I noticed a large tree not to far from the curbing, so I turned my body around to my right side to get a visual look. While I was doing this I put my foot on the break pedal, turned my body back to a normal driving position and the brake pedal went right to the floor never stopping the vehicle. The steering wheel suddenly moved to the right and then I heard a large sound ( the rear end of the vehicle crashing into the tree that I saw. ) all of this that happened took about seven to ten seconds!! I released my seat belt and got of the car to see the damage. The rear end of the bumper on the passenger side was severely damaged, the quarter panel on the same side was blown out and the top of the trunk toward the right side was actually ripped and dented. Ironically I had an appointed with the dealership to check the brakes the same day of the accident. I was determined to find out why the brakes failed. So I drove the vehicle knowing I had no brakes and miraculously made it to the dealership. The service personal saw how badly the vehicle was damaged and I explained to them what had happened. One of the girls in service department, I don't remember her name, completed the paper work and I was told I had to leave the vehicle. She also told me that there would no charge for any repairs because thats how Hyundai treats their customers thats' when old light bulb went off and I asked her if there were any recalls on vehicle and she said no. The next day I saw the repair form and that brake fluid was replaced twice and failed twice. He noticed that the auto antilock braking system module failed. He replaced that brakes o. K. I received back injury, under doctors care.

59 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

I was driving out of my community to an appointment I had with Hyundai dealership to check brakes when I missed right turn. I stopped the car putt it in reverse using camera as my visual. I noticed I was getting closer to curb and sidewalk so I turned my body to my right and saw there was a big tree close to sidewalk. I was turning back to normal driving position and applying the brakes at same time when the pedal went completely to the floor, the steering moved to the right, never stopping the car. I heard a loud crashing noise and my body being severely jerked back and forth. I noticed the auto collapsing head rest popped up. I removed my seat belt put the car into park and went to see the damage. Sure enough I had hit the tree which showed no sign of damage but the rear bumper on the passenger side was severely damaged, quarter panel was blown out and top of the trunk middle right was actually ripped and torn. I was determined to see why the brakes failed so I drove the car without any brakes and miraculously made it to dealership. One of service girls saw my damaged car and asked what happened. I told her brakes failed. She told me not to worry because they will fix car without any charge because thats how Hyundai treats their customers. I asked if there were recalls on the car, she said no. They told me my car will be ready next day. I went next morning and asked for the report on car which said brake fluid was changed twice and brakes failed twice. The service tech noticed auto anti locking brake module failed. He put in a new one, replaced braking fluid for third time, test drove the car and said brakes ok. When driving car brakes felt better. At home I started to feel light headed and few days latter back and neck pains started to get worse. Pain was so bad I went to urgent care center, gave me an injection and predizone for inflammation and pain. I'm under pain doctors care.

66 Steering problem of the 2011 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

I've purchased 2011 Genesis Dec 2010 that I brought back to the dealer the day after I purchased it for pulling to the left. They have realigned it several times I have been back 5 times in this the first month of ownership. Each time the dealer agreed that it pulled to the left. However the reason for the pulling varied. Some which were that they have tried telling me it was the crown of the road, the air pressure in one tire was 1 lb. Low and my personal favorite is the only way cars become misaligned is that the driver is hitting potholes, all of which have caused my car to pull to the left never the right. Each time they have had to do an alignment. I currently pursuing legal readdress.

69 Steering problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/30/2009

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) I bought the new Hyundai Genesis (motor trend of the year 2009). I soon realized (within 200 miles of new car ownership) that car was pulling to the left (sever pull) and to maintain a constant pressure to the right side on the steering (steering at 15 degree right angle) to maintain car drive straight. Very soon I researched the unique problem. Almost all Hyundai Genesis owners have made similar complaints to Hyundai dealers. Hyundai has been hiding a huge potential problem with new Genesis model (2009). Many owners have been complaining and no action is being taken by the company. Hyundai is trying to blame this issue on tires - that is deflect their issue to someone else. But this is not the case. To verify, research this problem by google. Com - "Hyundai Genesis steering issue and left or right pull" and you will get more than hundred similar complaints from new owners since 2008/2009 model release. I have been to the dealer 3 times to fix this issue within 3000 miles - but Hyundai dealers are just performing alignments - but doesn't fix the problem. We need help from NHTSA (government) as thousands of customer like myself are stuck - and a powerful foreign corporation is unwilling to budge!! please help - I am willing to donate my car for your testing. But this is a disaster waiting to happen as steering doesn't drive straight and veers of to left (or right). Do americans need to die before you take any actions? please call me [xxx] to discuss. Thanks.

Car severely pulls to the right, was like this from the day it left the dealership. I have taken it back to dealership and was told that all alignment specs are in soec and do not know what to do. I have taken it to 2 other alignment shops and everything is in spec but car still pull so hard to the right, does not track straight. I have tested on all types of road surfaces and no change. I have changed to new tires and still tracks to the right, there are many many people complaining about the same thing online.
