1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy, VIN [xxx] , purchased March 6, 2026 with under 2,200 miles at time of incident. Safety incident: while operating under adaptive cruise control at highway speed, the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration followed by severely delayed braking response. At least three trailing vehicles were forced into emergency evasive action to avoid a multi-vehicle collision. Family members were present. This event represents a direct and immediate threat to the safety of vehicle occupants and the public. The root cause has not been definitively identified or resolved. The authorized dealership confirmed can-bus resistance irregularities — 160 ohms versus the designed 120-ohm specification — governing acceleration, braking, and all driver assist systems. Prior symptoms included flickering interior lighting. An initial module replacement failed. Repair has escalated to full wiring harness replacement with no parts availability and no confirmed timeline. The safety event remains undiagnosed and unresolved. The vehicle carries three simultaneous active safety recalls — 293, 296, and 297 — all involving electrical and wiring systems on the calligraphy trim exclusively. None have permanent remedies. The vehicle has been in dealer custody since March 21, 2026 and is available for inspection. Hyundai motor America active case — no. Xxx. This vehicle is not safe to operate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/16/2026

On at least 8 occasions, the vehicle has issued a warning to take control now of the vehicle and then begun to stop the vehicle. On 2/16/26, it tried to stop the vehicle on two occasions, and the driver had to press the gas pedal as a car was approaching from behind. I have videos and dash cam videos of several occurrences. It also has determined that an overpass was an obstacle and tried to stop the vehicle. I have taken it to the Hyundai dealership 5x. Hyundai cannot duplicate the issue, but the videos clearly show the problem. It is random. There is a significant defect with the sensors and/or software.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 02/08/2026

Failed radar braking on a 2024 Hyundai Palisade what component or system failed or malfunctioned . . . . On Feb 8th, 2026 I was driving in to lakeland FL on I-75 n, in the right hand lane, near a green stoplight following a car 2 lengths ahead. The radar cruise control was slowing me down, keeping up with the car in front. Another driver suddenly cut in front of me from the far left lane. The cruise slammed on the brakes. Within seconds he took a hard right to catch an exit ramp. The radar cruise then accelerated at an extremely high rate, and no braking, causing me to hit the car in front of me, which was stopped about a car length away at a red light. Our air bags, 3 on driver's side, 1 on the passenger side deployed and my wife and I appeared to have no injury. The Hyundai front end crumpled in, trapping us in the car. The police pried open the doors to get us out. The car was totaled. We rented a car through our insurance and continued our 4 day journey home. On the 3rd day my right leg started turning black and blue. By the 4th day my left leg started doing the same. On returning to stevens point I went to the er. The dr. Said the bruises would take several weeks to clear. And it is not unusual for the bruising to appear several days later. On March 9th both my legs developed large hematomas. The right one just above the ankle, the left just below the knee. A week after that the right hematoma developed 2 deep open wounds and I had to go for wound care involving twice daily bandage changes and then a wound vac. The dr. Says it will be a long recovery. I would have been better off without the leg airbags. Two people in the front car claimed whiplash and were taken to the hospital for observation. The police said they did not appear to be injured, but better safe than sorry. We were trapped in the car and couldn't get out till the police got there 20 minutes later. By then the ones in the front car had been taken away.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

Constant and consistent alerting (attention) with the (steering and eye alert) icons present. Note: it would be helpful to understand and be told the exact sensor or type of alert (eye camera, steering input, forward camera) that triggered the alert! as it stands, every few seconds to minutes the alert states driver is not attentive. Eventually between 2-8 warnings is unrecoverable and the cruise control shuts itself off after a myriad set of warnings. No matter what is attempted the car ends the cruise control and the driver must maintain control at that point (decelerating from highway/interstate speeds dramatically). Myself and all family drivers experience this immediately after activation. Dealership has reported no trouble after 50 miles of driving (as stated). I have video of this issue and am adding them to youtube (2026 Hyundai Palisade cruise control fail) for others to see. This is unsafe and distracting! the alerts alone are enough to deactivate this (if available, but: it cannot be deactivated!) let alone decelerating from speed for "no good reason" outside of drivers direct control. The only solution I have is to not use cruise control and the safety features (as they are marketed to work) and negate the safety features I purchased the vehicle for.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/14/2025

I am the 3rd time owner of this Palisade. Car was bought after a transmission replacement at 27,000 miles. (second transmission). At around 70,000 miles, we started to have oil consumption problems/ignition coil problems. After a slew of tests and other recommend procedures that cost us money out of pocket, Hyundai recommended to get a new engine. We get the new engine. They call to tell us the new engine is done, and proceed to share the transmission is bad and it needs a new one (3rd transmission). They are asking us to pay for the transmission as well. We want a buy back as we think this is a lemon car. 3 transmissions and a new engine under 85000 miles is not good and definitely grounds for investigation. These repeated failures make it unsafe/unreliable for us to drive our 6 month old baby in, let alone my wife and my myself. . We request and investigation/buyback.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2026 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 09/11/2025

Problem statement: instrument cluster has an instrumentation update lag of approximately 10 seconds. The problem may or not be present when you turn the vehicle on. Description of problem: turning on the vehicle. The instrument cluster does not load properly. Different display elements appear in a different sequence than normal. The speedometer remains at zero even though the car is moving. The lag to begin changing the speed indicated is approximately 7-10 seconds. The car can be moving at 60 miles per hour, and the speedometer indicates zero. When the car is stopped the guage may read the prior steadystate speed of the vehicle. For example. Going from 65mph to a stop the speedometer will continue to read 65mph even though it has stopped. Potential safety issues •driver speed awareness: the driver may unknowingly exceed speed limits, exposing themselves to traffic citations or legal liability. •inability to gauge speed accurately may lead to unsafe driving behaviors, such as entering curves or approaching intersections too quickly. •braking and stopping distance misjudgment: if the driver believes they are traveling more slowly than they actuallyare, they may underestimate stopping distances. This can result in rear-end collisions, failure to yield, or inability to stop in time for pedestrians or cross traffic. •acceleration and merging risks: during highway merging or lane changes, the driver may not accelerate appropriately relative to surrounding traffic. A lagging or frozen speedometer can cause misjudgments of closing speeds, leading to sideswipe or merging collisions. •entering a curve: navigation-based Smart cruise control might expect you to slow down for a curve or exit. But if speed is misrepresented, it might delay braking or deceleration, causing the vehicle to approach the curve too fast, increasing risk of lane drift or rollover. Dealerhas been excellent to work with. They are aware of the issue and are recitifying the problem.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 07/27/2025

While driving on the highway using the adaptive cruise control feature in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively braked for no reason — even though there was no vehicle or obstruction ahead. This happened in normal highway traffic and caused vehicles behind me to brake suddenly, putting me at extreme risk of a rear-end collision. It was a very dangerous and terrifying experience that made me unable to use the cruise control feature since. For a brand-new vehicle with advanced safety features, this type of malfunction is completely unacceptable. Hyundai has not provided a proper explanation or resolution. This poses a serious ongoing safety risk to myself and others on the road and must be investigated.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 06/22/2025

Randomly, the second row seat belts will unbuckle by themselves, and the seat belt warning will randomly go off indicating the seat belt was unbuckled all the while no one was sitting in the seat. At random, while using the adaptive cruise control, the car will brake by itself, when there is no car close enough in front to activate the braking system. A few times, while using the adaptive cruise control, the system speed up for no reason. The only way to get the car to stop speeding up was to disengage the cruise control. Braking did not help.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/04/2025

Hyundai "Smart cruise control (scc)" I had my scc set at 54mph. I entered a broad curve, which was gentle enough that it was safe to maintain that speed. Ahead was a left-turn turnout lane for vehicles wanting to make a left turn off the highway. This turn lane is part of the broad curve, too. A vehicle was stopped ahead in this appropriate turn-off lane waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. As my vehicle entered the curve, the radar/camera at the front of my car detected this stopped vehicle a little ahead of me, and immediately began to brake my car into a panic stop. I was thrown forward a little in the seat, and the vehicle immediately behind me had to suddenly brake, too, in order to avoid read-ending me. These was no need for this of course. With conventional cruise control, I would have been able to navigate through the curve at the set speed, and all vehicles in the vicinity, including mine and the vehicle behind me, would have been safe. The Hyundai owner's manual points out that the scc may well malfunction in curve situations (among many, many other situations). Smart cruise control is an accident waiting to happen. Please, please get this feature off of vehicles sold in the united states. Return control of the vehicle to the drive, not some camera. Thank you.

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 03/28/2025

Self leveling struts continually are trash. They do not last more than 2 to 3 thousand miles of highway driving before they are no longer safe. The adaptive cruise control randomly reads as "radar blocked". And will work only intermittently.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/06/2024

Driving with adaptive cruise control engaged in 45mph zone. Without intervention the cruise setting jumped to 90mph. I was able to press the pause bar to cancel it. Next I was able to re engage cruise normally without a repeat issue. There's been no outside inspection, or assessment. So far it's happened only once. The runaway speed was controllable. We're driving with extra care.

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/04/2024

Many times while my car was set to the adaptive cruise control the car wouldn't stop or break at all although the car in front of me braked and stopped completely. I had to slam on the break because the car wouldn't stop on its own.

14 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/02/2024

Today, March 27, 2026, I sent an email to Hyundai customer affairs that stated the following: "to whom it may concern, on January 21, 2025, I emailed Hyundai customer affairs about an issue that is of significant importance. To date, the only response I have received regarding this issue (case # xxx) on February 2, 2025, acknowledging my email and assigning the reference case number. However, the issue with the cruise control's resume execution is unacceptable and [likely] dangerous. There is no reason for the cruise control to accelerate in such an aggressive manner. What is it going to require for this issue to resolve/address this?" while the car has traction control, there is no reason for such an aggressive manner for the cruise control to accelerate as you can see in my email it to Hyundai their lack of action is concerning. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 04/09/2024

During the daytime, you cannot see any of the graphics on the steering wheel switches. How am I supposed to know what button does what? how am I supposed to control the cruise control settings if I am pushing the wrong buttons. At night they are illuminated so I can see them better, but during the day the graphics are basically invisible. I'm thinking this is only an issue on the calligraphy night trim levels. This has been an issues since we picked up the vehicle.

16 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 11/14/2023

Update to complaint #11631235 at time of original complaint submission, I was unable to figure out how to share the video documentation of the vehicle speedomoter defect. Having since figured it out, I want to share this evidence with the NHTSA.

17 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 10/07/2023

This happened several times: when I drive my 2023 Palisade with speed limit assist engaged, the computer frequently out of the blue detects 25 or 30-mile speed limited signs that are not there and abruptly changes the speed down to 25 or 30 miles per hour. This has nearly caused two accidents as I was driving with 60 miles per hour and the Palisade suddenly slowed down to 30 miles per hour and drivers were only narrowly able to avoid hitting the rear of my car. This is dangerous and needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or killed. I will report this one NHTSA and consumer reports. Please get back with me as soon as possible. I reported this to Hyundai as well. Case number: 22178478.

18 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade

This vehicle awd system failed, the assitance systems failed, namely: adaptive cruise, regular cruise, blind spot warning, emergency brake assist, lane keep assist, and parking collision warning.

21 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 06/14/2021

Front passenger side and second row passenger side seatbelt are hard to latch and randomly unlatch. . I took it in for service several times during the warranty to ask them to look at it, and they could never replicate it.

22 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Hyundai Palisade

Failure Date: 11/22/2020

I was travelling at 50mph under cruise control with lane following and lane keeping. A car drove past me in the lane to my left at about 65mph. The computer quickly turned my wheels and sent me into the lane at my right. It was a turning lane and unoccupied. The angle of the car to the turning lane was steep. I regained control of the car before it could go off the highway to the left.
