While starting to drive from a red light, I was about a car length or 1. 5 car length away from the vehicle ahead of me. As I was driving forward because the light turned green keeping the same distance, the car gave me a second and a half of the collision warning, then immediately went to emergency break-in and stopped me in the middle of the intersection during morning rush hour. The car behind me almost slammed into me. This happens once in a while when backing up in parking lots. There’s no one behind me but a curb or some grass. I’m not close it to but the emergency breaking system comes on and stops me. Since the stop is abruptly there’s been times another car could have potentially hit me while either trying to go around me as I’m backing out of a spot in a parking lot or as I mentioned today the car stopping me in the middle of the intersection during a green light. It’s been so random, it hasn’t been reproduced. The car was inspected for the other recalls a few days ago but not for the emergency braking system. The warning was very quick today. It didn’t last more than a second before it started to brake itself. I didn’t have time to react to the warning. After researching online I see this is more common than I thought.

While driving, the vehicle displays a warning of "eyes on road, hands on wheel". It has happened 6x since vehicle purchase, most recent on 10 Jan 26. The most recent occurrence was 10 Jan 26. Hyundai has issued a bulletin that this could occur when wearing sunglasses. The most recent time it was raining, no sun, no sunglasses and hands were on wheel at 10/2. Warning message displayed for several seconds (eyes on road/hands on wheel) and then went into stop mode on the highway. Tapping the brakes broke the lock and are continued without stopping. Been to dealership 3x. Hyundai says it can be caused due to sunglasses. Most recent time, no sunglasses.
I was at work and went to move my car in our parking garage. I hit a bump and my front tires started to shake along with my steering wheel, and my brakes wouldn't work. I briefly lost total control over the brakes, steering wheel and tires causing me to almost hit a parked vehicle before everything self corrected. No alerts came on. I recently was hit on my rear passenger side and had repairs done to my vehicle. I had also experienced this shortly after I purchased the car and the dealership supposedly fixed the issue. I’m not shew if the wreck causes this issue to malfunction again or what, but this isn’t safe. I just reported the issue to the collision center that recently repaired my vehicle. Waiting on a response.

In general even in slow speed the emergency break kicks in and actually the vehicle is sliding and not stopping. Now in the snow when you try to stop again the vehicle is shaking and sliding instead of stopping.

The vehicle’s forward collision warning / rear cross-traffic warning system is falsely detecting obstacles while I am driving down a normal residential driveway. The driveway has a gentle slope overall, with a slightly sharper angle right at the point where it meets the street. As I begin to move down the driveway—both in drive and reverse—the vehicle emits warning beeps and then suddenly and aggressively applies the brakes on its own, even though the path is completely clear. The braking is abrupt and forceful, and the system appears to misinterpret the brief angle change at the curbline as an obstacle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the unexpected hard stop could cause a collision or loss of control. More importantly, if the system behaves this way on a simple residential driveway, it could be extremely hazardous on public roads that have larger hills, dips, or transitions. Sudden automatic braking on a main roadway or at higher speeds could lead to a serious crash. The problem has occurred repeatedly and consistently at the same driveway since I began driving the vehicle. It happens nearly every time. I took the vehicle to speck Hyundai in kennewick, wa, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the issue during their inspection. I have video evidence clearly showing the warning beeps and the vehicle braking on its own.
Automatic emergency braking. Vehicle has had several instances of slaming on brakes for no reason. Last time we were traveling about 35 miles per hour with a vehicle traveling behind us when system slammed on brakes locking them up and bringing us to a complete stop. We were traveling in the dark, in a rough road in a construction zone. No warnings lamps or messages. Scared us very bad. We are having the vehicle checked the next time we have in for service. Seat belts not fixed as of last service 10/25/25, per dealer no remedy available at this time.

Driving on i55 south bound near weber road in will county on 10/07/2025 at approximately 3:40 pm my 2024 Palisade all of a sudden slammed on the brakes and alerted an audible message of eminent collision. There was no collision that was even present or going to happen. I was doing about 70mph and the car braked hard down to 20 mph. Luckily no one behind rear ened me. Traffic was moving at 70 to 80 mph and there were no other vehicles or incidents going on that would have caused this.
Anytime driving on a bumpy road the brakes do not work correctly. When driving on a bumpy road I can feel the abs take over and I lose control over braking. Eventually I have to slam on the brakes or the computer does. Feels extremely unsafe since there are lots of brick roads around me. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle. I just researched this issue and it seems to be known a issue.
There is a known issue documented online regarding the 2024 Hyundai Palisade and the abs system. On multiple occasions we have noticed that when driving at slow speeds (less than 25 miles per hour) and if the road is slightly uneven, gravel, on an incline or decline, the brake pedal start to vibrate and there is loss of control and increased stopping distance. We reported this previously to Hyundai dealership and they found no fault. Today, 9/30/25, the care was involved in a low speed collision in which the Palisade rear ended another vehicle. Once again the car started to skid and hit the other vehicle. I dropped the car off today at the dealership.
I was driving my vehicle through a parking lot at a low rate of speed (approximately 5 mph) with my wife and three children in the car. A pedestrian suddenly stepped out from a shopping strip on the passenger side to cross the road, about 8–10 feet in front of my vehicle. I immediately attempted to apply the brakes manually. However, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system unexpectedly took over and completely prevented me from braking. At that moment: - the car began vibrating and shaking while continuing forward at the same speed. - the brake pedal was locked and completely unresponsive to my repeated attempts to press it. - the pedestrian, realizing the vehicle was not stopping, was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. After several seconds, the automatic braking system finally disengaged, at which point the brake pedal returned to normal function and I was able to regain manual control. This incident was extremely dangerous and could have resulted in a catastrophic accident, with both my family and the pedestrian at serious risk. The automatic braking system not only failed to stop for a pedestrian directly in front of the vehicle, but it also disabled my ability to manually apply the brakes.
I am writing to formally report a safety concern regarding the anti-lock braking system (abs) in the 2024 Hyundai Palisade, which I believe may be a widespread issue affecting this model year. The problem has raised significant safety concerns, as it directly impacts the vehicle's braking performance. Recently, I began experiencing issues with the abs system in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The brake pedal feels unusually soft or pulsates when braking, and there have been instances of skidding or loss of traction during routine stops were I have ended up in the middle of an intersection. I took the vehicle to a Hyundai service center, where they claim the system was performing normal. The technicians noted that the issue could be linked to the abs control module or wheel speed sensors, but they could not provide a definitive diagnosis. The system has not been able to function properly since the issue started, and I am concerned about the vehicle’s safety. As a safety-critical system, the abs is essential for maintaining control of the vehicle during braking situations, particularly under adverse driving conditions. The malfunctioning abs system poses a significant risk to the safety of both the driver and passengers, as well as other road users. The inability to rely on the abs system increases the risk of accidents, particularly in situations where braking efficiency is crucial. I have contacted my local Hyundai dealership for assistance, and they have attempted to address the issue through diagnostics and repairs. However, the problem persists, and I am concerned that this may not be an isolated case but rather a widespread defect affecting other 2024 Palisade owners. Given the severity of this issue and its potential to affect a large number of consumers, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this problem to determine if it is a manufacturer defect that warrants a recall.
In multiple instances, the abs is engaging on uneven surfaces when it should not. It occurs when pulling into my driveway and just happened this morning in the car drop off line. I was going no more than 5mph when the car in front of me stopped. I hit the brakes and the abs engaged (along with the crash alarm) causing a skid. No accident occurred, but it was unsettling.
While driving and slowing down at a stop light the car started to trigger the anti lock brakes. The car was shaking and it would not stop. I put the car in park right before hitting the car in front of me. It was a sunny day with no poor road conditions. The road was a little bumpy but not anything extreme.
I was coming down a hill slowing down and when I hit a dip in the pavement the abs engaged and the car was shuttering and would not stop. It has happened a few times now on uneven surfaces like potholes or bumps in the road.
A class action lawsuit has been filed for this issue which Hyundai refuses to acknowledge our 2025 Palisade is having this issue on a regular basis. When it occurs the car becomes very difficult to stop we feel as do the lawyers in the class action in new york California and ohio that this is a serious safety situation. We have had the car to the dealer and as previous owners have stated it is not acknowledged.
I was recently involved in an accident with my 2020 Palisade that I believe may have been caused by a brake failure. I was simply moving the vehicle from one part of a driveway to another when, as I drove over a drainage ditch, the brakes did not respond and the car suddenly accelerated into a tree. I sustained facial injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The vehicle is currently at canby motors in bel air and is available for inspection. The vehicle has only been inspected by canby motors to my knowledge at this time. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Date: [xxx] time: 12:00 pm location: [xxx] (heading toward [xxx] ). - turned left into the second entrance to the parking lot between [xxx] and [xxx]. My vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Palisade night edition incident summary while entering the parking lot, the vehicle in front of me braked. When I attempted to brake (approx. 10 mph), my vehicle: - began pulsing/jerking, consistent with abs engaging. No matter how hard I pressed the brake my car would not stop it's kept pulsing - alerts and beeping with a forward collision warning went off - car lurched/jumped forward rather than stopping smoothly. This resulted in a minor rear-end contact with the vehicle ahead. Concerns for safety of myself and others because the car did not stop when hitting the brakes nor the collision warning initiate braking. Concerns - concern that abs or forward-collision system malfunctioned. - service appointment scheduled for 9/9/2025 at 9:45 am with Hyundai dealership. - will keep a copy of the service summary for documentation. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The system that has the issue is the emergency braking system. The brakes of the car have engaged automatically at highway speeds more than 5 times. This has put the safety of the individuals in my car at risk as well as the cars around me because the cars behind me then got way to close because of my vehicle breaking. It is also very jarring for the driver and could make the driver make the driver swerve thinking there is someone getting too close. The emergency braking lights flash on the dash when this happens. I am waiting to get an appointment with the dealer.

[xxx]. While approaching a red light traffic signal abs kicked in with a slight acceleration and reduced braking. There was a car ahead of me stopped at the red light. Applying normal pressure to the brakes was not slowing my vehicle requiring me to use both feet to force enough pressure to the brakes to stop within feet of hitting the vehicle in front of me. This was on a main public road and the road was rough. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Passenger side rear brake caliper failed causing the brake to scrape into the rotor. The emergancy brake remained in the lock postion when the caliper failed. Locking the caliper in the up position and releasing brake fluid. Driver side brakes, caliper, and rotor completly intact and does not need replacing.
I have taken my car into Hyundai three times time. When I am driving, coming up to a stop at a light, sign or because of a hazard, there are times my brakes lock up completely and I cannot stop my car. Each time I've taken my car, I've been told "we cannot replicate the problem we are unable to fix it" it happens at least 5-10 times a week. I've almost crashed at least 7 times and I have to move over to try and move out of the way, slam down my brakes in hopes that something clicks and I can stop. I know that I will crash one day but my equity is negative on my car and there isn't anything I can do. I have young children in my car and I could be a risk to anyone else on the road and I'm extremely disappointed in how Hyundai is handling this.
When driving on uneven bumpy roads, I find my abs gives a collision warning and engages the brakes. I’ve almost crashed once already and I don’t know what to do. Also when parking in tight spots, the abs turns on due to collision warning and instantly activates the brakes, causing me to almost hit the cars in front or behind me.
While approaching a stop sign we hit a small crack in the roadway while applying the brakes. The brake pedal started pulsing and the vehicle would not stop. Luckily there were no cars approaching because we rolled thru the stop sign. This is the second time in a month this has happened. Apparently the manufacturer is aware of the issue but have not seen any type of recall.
Sometimes when trying to break on uneven surfaces the break seems to fail, shaking the car as if trying to break multiple times, which results in the car continue moving sometimes 10 feet over the stop sign, for example. The uneven does not need to be gravel, just minor bumps on the road sometimes trigger this issue, which makes me scared that I'll end up in an accident, as I already had a near miss one. This has happened now multiple times and is making me scared to drive. I took the car to huyndai on 08/15 and they were able to reproduce the same issue, saying that it seems to be a misreading from the abs system, but added that the car and its systems are functioning as per the designed specifications and there was nothing they could do. Their solution was to advise me to use more caution when breaking, avoiding sudden breaks and to allow for increased breaking distances, but this absolutely does not resolve the issue and places the responsibility to resolve the issue on the customer, which is absurd. I should add that the many times this issue happened to me, I was driving at very slow speeds (max was like 20 mph) and was slowly stopping at the stops signs of my gym center and the parking lot of my work, which leads to a busy highway. I am afraid one day I won't be able to stop the car and end up going into the highway and cause an accident hurting both myself and other people. This is incredibly irresponsible of Hyundai, it's playing with people's safety. I would have not bought this car had I known this was an issue.
It’s skid three times when I was trying to stop it just kept going almost got into three accidents.
, yes available for inspection, you can completely examine my car kicked in without need, hard braking would not work, car pulsed into intersection thousands are experiencing this involuntary abs implementation and Hyundai is aware. Today my 2024 and a new 2025 were in the dealership with the very same problem. My first instance occurred in July 2024.
I am unsure what exact component malfunctioned but in 5 separate times within the past 2 months, the vehicle has failed to stop at a normal time when pressing the brakes and a loud rumbling occurs. It feels as if I am sliding on ice. Two of the times it occurred on uneven road surfaces, however 3 times I could not identify an issue with the road. They all occured when coming to a stoplight/stop sign or when I had to stop due to a vehicle slowing down or stopping in front of me. In each occurrence I was going under 20 mph. The safety of others could have definitely been impacted as it took a few seconds to actually stop the vehicle more than it should have. Someone could have been walking and crossing the street in front of me. Or if I was too close to the car in front of me it could have hit it. No warning messages appeared on the dashboard prior, but during the occurrence in the last time, I noticed the word "shift" appear. This word could have shown up during the first few times and I could have missed it. On Tuesday September 9th I took it to the dealership and they checked everything out and the vehicle did not produce the same symptoms when they tested it out over the hour I was there. They said they reported the issue but they did not know the reason it was occuring.
**vehicle:** 2021 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy, ~75,000 miles. Purchased February 2025. **problem 1 - forward camera failure:** the forward-facing camera system controlling lane keeping assist, emergency braking, and lane departure warning has completely failed. Dashboard warnings appeared in recent weeks including "check forward safety system" and "forward safety system disabled" before total failure. This eliminates critical safety features designed to prevent accidents, significantly increasing collision risk. Camera unit behind rearview mirror available for inspection. **problem 2 - rear shock failure:** rear shock absorbers have failed, causing excessive clunking and compromised vehicle stability. Rear suspension has been clunking since purchase in February. This creates dangerous driving conditions with reduced stability, increased stopping distances, and poor emergency handling. This is a known issue covered under Hyundai technical service bulletin 22-22-001h. **safety risk:** both failures create serious safety hazards - eliminating collision avoidance systems and compromised vehicle control/stability. **professional confirmation:** local Hyundai dealer has confirmed both the camera system failure and rear shock absorber failure through diagnostic testing and inspection. **components available:** both the failed camera system and rear shock absorbers remain available for inspection upon request. **request:** investigation and remedial action for these safety-critical defects, particularly given the rear shock issue is a documented manufacturing problem per TSB 22-22-001h.

Driving at slow speeds the car’s abs system kicked in when we transitioned from the road to the parking lot. The parking lot was an even surface and only a slight bump to drive into it. This has happened twice already and the car has 360 miles on the odometer. So comforting! such great quality !.
Car skidding when I hit the break on uneven surfaces, specifically going down an incline. My car almost skid into oncoming traffic.
Getting out of a parking lot onto the road with my family in the car. The car would not break in spite of hitting the breaks before making the turn onto the road, the oncoming vehicle stopped int time to prevent a t-bone crash . After looking online , seems like a known issue with this model and the Hyundai will not acknowledge it. Please take action.
On [xxx] at [xxx} I was exiting [xxx] using the [xxx] exit. As I approached the end of the ramp at approximately 15 miles per hour, the automatic braking system engaged unexpectedly. There were no warning lights on the dashboard. The road conditions were dry. The vehicle was not stopping, and I came within inches of rear ending the vehicle in front of me at the red light. I contacted mcgovern Hyundai in wilmington, MA, and a service appointment is scheduled for 7/21. The vehicle has approximately 5,000 miles. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Unknown. In a span of 15 minutes, I encountered 3 events in traffic where accidents could've occurred. I was in the middle turning lane, completely stopped. I tried to accelerate and start left turn when the car shut down, all lights on dashboard lit up. There's an alert saying push p (park) and restart engine. It took 2 or 3 times of trying to get the car to start. Once started the engine and oil lights came on. They went off soon after. Luckily, the car stopped before the turn started or there may have been an accident. I continue my drive down the street, come to an intersection where I slowly brake, the front passenger tire hit a pothole and the car slid into intersection (my foot still on the brake) instead of coming to a compete stop before the intersection. Again, accident avoided only because the oncoming traffic passed before car slid forward. Lastly, trying to get home safely and shaken badly, I come to another intersection. I'm the first car with 4 cars behind me. I'm completely stopped at a red light. The light turns green, I attempt to accelerate to move through light and the car shuts down again. All lights on dashboard light up, the emergency brake is automatically engaged and I spend the light cycle trying to get the car to restart. I had to release the emergency parking brake, put car in park, try to push start button. Last steps repeated more than once. Thank goodness the cars behind me were paying attention and didn't drive based on the light being green. There was no warning for any of these events. It was extremely scary and I don't trust the car to drive it further. I'm having it towed to the dealership for inspection. This is a 2025 with 636 miles on it and about 8 incidents regarding safety since purchased less than 2 months ago.
This vehicle on multiple occasions per week will have what my husband can only describe as the abs incorrectly kick on. It happens in our driveway, rocky parking lots or streets that aren’t even. The vehicle shakes uncontrollably and the brakes can not be pressed when it happens. In the worst situation we ended up over a curb, luckily the curb seemed to help stop us before potentially hitting a post office. No lights come up on the dashboard and it isn’t easy to replicate as it happens randomly - usually at lower speeds - when coming into a stop. Our safety is put at risk every time we drive, not knowing if the issue will happen; and not being able to brake or remedy the issue. This is not a one time incident - this happens multiple times a week.
