Hyundai Palisade owners have reported 40 problems related to warnings (under the forward collision avoidance category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Hyundai Palisade based on all problems reported for the Palisade.
"the front view camera (fr_cmr) failed due to an internal control chip defect. The component is available for inspection — it is currently at the dealership. Multiple adas safety systems were simultaneously disabled, including forward collision-avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, and high beam assist. This puts both the driver and other road users at risk by removing all active collision prevention and lane keeping systems while driving at highway speeds with no backup warning. The problem has been confirmed by the Hyundai dealership via gds diagnostic scan showing two dtcs: c160649 (ecu software error – front view camera) and c180581 (lkas can signal error). The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer. Dealer repair order quotes $1,511. 87 for camera replacement and calibration. Warning lights for forward collision, driver attention warning, and high beam assist appeared on the instrument cluster and have remained on continuously. Systems have been disabled since the warning lights first appeared. This is a known internal control chip defect documented in kia TSB ele231 (rev 2, August 2021), covering the identical camera assembly shared across the Hyundai/kia platform. The same dtcs and same fix — front camera replacement, variant coding, and calibration — are confirmed repaired on other 2020 Palisade limited vehicles under warranty. Hyundai has not issued a corresponding TSB for the Palisade despite the identical failure mode and shared part. VIN: [xxx] . I feel that the recent Hyundai tucson recall should be expanded to 2024 Palisades. My sensors often go off when it is unnecessary on my Palisade. Additionally, I feel like recall NHTSA recall number 25v607000 has not been corrected in a timely manner. I've requested to my local dealership to fix this recall multiple times and each time have been told they don't have the parts and its "slow moving". The recall has been open for long enough I feel that shouldn't be the case, especially for seat belt buckles.

The safety sensors mounted on the front of the car seem to disable frequetnly. I belive it is the bumper sensors. I read it is a known issue that they disable when it's snowing/raining/mud. I cleaned them off and took a 3 hour drive in clear weather, dry roads. They would disable and then come back on intermittently through the drive. . Drive started in day time and ended in the evening. When they are disabled the cruise control will not work and then the car just starts to slowly slow down on the the highway. On the drive back, it was daytime, roads were clear, no inclement weather and it did the same the whole way back. Periodally disable and then come back on.

While driving the vehicle ahead brake suddenly. When I applied the brake pedal, it felt abnormally stiff/stuck and did not provide norma breaking response. Th vehicle did not decelerate as expected despite immediate pedal input. At the same time, the forward collision avoidance assist system did not activate or provide any braking assistance. Due to the lack of effective braking, I was unable to stop in time and a collision occurred. The primary concern is a potential failure or malfunction in the braking system occurring prior to impact combined with the apparent failure of the automatic emergency braking system to engage. This created a situation where the vehicle could not be stopped under emergency conditions posing a serious safety risk.

On 2 separate occasions, under similar circumstances, the collision warning systems, both front and rear, applied the brakes for no reason. When reversing slowly (foot slowly off brake pedal) from a parking space on an almost empty rooftop parking lot; I confirmed there was no foot traffic or moving vehicles before I started to back up. The brakes automatically applied (no screen display); I reapplied the brake and was then able to reverse normally. On a normal service visit to my dealership, I mentioned the incident and it was noted on my invoice. About 3 weeks later, at a full stop at a stop sign, I was about to turn left onto another road. After confirming there was no cross traffic of any kind, and before I had completely released the brake, the collision assist engaged and suddenly applied the brakes (again with no screen display but an audible thump). Again, I was able to reapply the brake and then accelerate to make the turn. Since the same event had happened twice, I went directly to my local Hyundai service center and reported it. They kept the vehicle for a week and tested it thoroughly. Nothing showed as being faulty. When I picked up my vehicle on 5/22/26, they informed me that there's a known issue (NHTSA campaign # 26v316) with other Hyundai models (not the Palisade) and that an update for the forward collision avoidance system in those models will be coming mid-summer. As the Palisade is not included in the campaign list of makes/models, but has the exact same event/problem, I wanted to report this for inclusion in the safety recall. I was not injured in either event but anyone with this issue could potentially be at risk in the future.
While vacationing in myrtle beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to myrtle beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - false blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - a broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens - vehicle safety risk - potential defect trend - failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation this vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.
Acceleration hesitation on numerous occasions. Seat belt recall, unresolved. Waiting for parts for over two months. Also waiting for dealership availability and also, I need an available loaner car. I have to drive my child around frequently for personal reasons. I use my third row and there's no remedy for the third row safety recall. The second row seat belts are constantly being stuck and inoperable.
While idling at a traffic light on a busy city street all of the warning lights on the car went off and the car shut off on its own.
Rear sunroof exploded randomly.
A dangerous and unpredictable braking issue has plagued my brand-new SUV (under 5,000 miles). On multiple occasions, the brakes have engaged suddenly and without warning while driving, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly in the middle of the road. This creates a hazardous situation with the potential for rear-end collisions, putting my family at risk and causing back pain to my passengers. The same problem also occurs when parking. The dealership requires a five-day service appointment, but the lack of any pre-warning lamps or indicators makes this issue especially concerning.

Entire instrument cluster goes black while driving. Speedometer, odometer, tachometer, turn signal indicators, everything stops working and just a blank screen. Have a video of it happening. Took it to Hyundai and they would not approve tear down to find what is causing and said that it is not a safety concern, yet this would cause the vehicle to fail safety inspection in our state.
I was driving through town at a low rate of speed (20-30 mph) with 2-3 car lengths between me and the next vehicle. I continued through light to next light. This distance was on an upward incline. After traveling approximately 500 ft, I noticed the traffic slowing in front of me and took my foot off the accelerator to start to slow down. This is when the car suddenly accelerated (instead of slowing down as would be expected when traveling up an incline), picking up speed quickly. The car's response happened so quickly that I was unable to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I hit the car in front of me that was slowing down at the light which then subsequently hit several other vehicles that were in front of it that were also slowing/stopped for the light. The front airbag deployed as a result of the collision, knocking my glasses off. The vehicle was still continuing in forward motion after the collision…. Traffic crash report states, “. . . [witness] went up to unit 1 [palisade], and the tires were still spinning…” as I was in shock after the collision, a bystander came up to the vehicle to turn it off and this is when the wheels/forward motion was completely stopped. This Palisade is equipped with forward collision avoidance assist (fca) system. There was no warning given nor did the vehicle attempt to slow down during the event so I believe that this system failed to operate which contributed to the collision. I also believe that there was a failure with the engine/electrical system, etc, and/or transmission that caused the system to suddenly accelerate while traveling uphill after I removed my foot from the gas pedal. The vehicle was totaled by my insurance company. They did say that they were sending an engineer to review the event data recorder. I have not seen any results from that nor do I have the vehicle in my possession as it was totaled.
This vehicle has driver-assist functions and warning lamps in the electronic instrument cluster located in the driver's display area. Randomly and unpredictably a group of warning lights -- "check blind spot" collision alarm, lane safety indicator light, triangle-shaped general alert icon -- all activate simultaneously for no apparent reason. The unpredictability creates a serious distraction to the driver and potentially unsafe reactions which could result in damages and injuries. There are numerous references to this problem on the internet, indicating this is a widespread safety issue for Hyundai models. Dealer said possible recall imminent.
My car has had numerous issue. The first issue was with the front end collision warning system. I had a sensor warning come on twice saying it may not be in use, but then it falsely predicted a collision resulting in the car slamming on the brakes when nothing was there. I almost go rear-ended as a result. The dealer found that the radar system was completely broken and the sensor was facing to the side instead of the front. I bought the car brand new and there was no evidence of damage and it has never been explained how it got damaged. They replaced the system and that was resolved, but the sensors continue acting strange. It's now turning on the camera and telling me to check my surroundings when I'm stopped at a red light. There is nothing happening around me. The problem that is ongoing and has yet to be resolved is my brakes. It's an intermittent issue, but when I go over rough surfaces and hit the brakes I get a crunching/grinding noise that sounds like it's grinding rocks. This happens intermittently. The dealer was eventually able to replicate it and is saying it's the abs system and that it's normal, but cannot do anything to repair it. However, it is not normal for abs to come on going over a bump and it shouldn't sound like that. When this happens, the brakes don't seem to respond properly and as quickly as it should. I have not gotten any warning lights for the brake issue. It does put the parking brake on at times for no reason when I'm on a completely flat surface. The car was out of service for 21 days in a month and a half of owning it. I have a car that I don't feel safe in and I don't trust what it's going to do. It's problem after problem and corporate Hyundai doesn't want to do anything about it.
While sitting at a stop sign, I attempted to place my vehicle in park. I opened the driver’s side door, but the car had not actually shifted into park. None of the vehicle’s safety systems engaged when the door was opened. The car rolled forward with me partially outside the vehicle, dragging me until it struck a tree. This incident reflects a critical failure in the vehicle’s electrical/safety systems: •the transmission did not engage park when selected. •the door-open rollaway prevention system did not activate. •the automatic front collision system failed to stop the vehicle. Because multiple electronic safeguards failed at the same time, this appears to be an electrical or computer system malfunction rather than driver error.
1) transmission sticks and doesn't shift at higher speeds, had dealer look at could not replicate. I have had many instances of this happening. Safety issue is this usually happens when accelerating to get on freeway or passing someone and then I need to back off gas pedal to get it to change gears 2) anti collision warning goes on for no reason - has not engaged brakes. Safety issue is both times I hit the brakes thinking I was going to hit something but there was nothing in front of me. - will talk with dealer service manager this week 3) anti lock brakes engaged at a normal stop - this could have caused an accident. I was able to stop car going into intersection by slamming breaks on - this has happened twice. Huge safety issue as I was entering a intersection and had trouble stopping the car. Will talk with dealer service manager this week.
The forward collision warming sign just activated when there is no danger. The car will suddenly apply sharp brakes when you are even on the high with a speed over 65 miles per hour. It is very dangerous and scary and can lead to accidents. My car false alarms get activated more than three times a day. I hope Hyundai will recall this and fix this issue.
The windshield (visibility system) on my 2025 Hyundai tucson (VIN: [xxx] ) was cracked on [xxx]. I immediately contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (in new york), and later local Hyundai dealers in florida where I now reside. I was informed that the windshield is on a nationwide oem backorder with no estimated time of arrival (eta). As of August 6, 2025, the part remains unavailable, and the vehicle has been inoperable for 57 days, parked in my garage. The crack makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, and due to advanced driver assistance systems (adas) such as lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning, the windshield requires proper oem calibration post-installation, which cannot be performed until the correct part is secured. The issue was confirmed by multiple Hyundai dealers and 3rd-party glass installers, all of whom indicated they are unable to acquire the correct windshield due to Hyundai’s ongoing parts shortage. No resolution has been provided by Hyundai corporate. Although one vendor was referenced by the dealer, they too did not have the part available locally. Hyundai has offered limited rental reimbursement, but not enough to cover costs during this extended downtime. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer or insurance company beyond initial confirmation of the damage. No warning lights or messages preceded the incident — the issue is entirely due to the unavailability of a critical oem part, making the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am paying monthly for a financed vehicle that cannot be driven due to a manufacturing and supply chain failure beyond my control. I was driving on a road that was very rough with many bumps and the car (well in front of me) began to slow down to avoid a big pot hole, I applied my brakes to slow down before I got close to that car. Because the road was rough, as many others have filed the same complaint now, my Palisade engaged the abs and the car coasted much farther than it shoudl have with the amount of brake pressure I was applying to stop before I collided with the vehicle slowing in front of me. The abs prevented me from stopping before I almost hit the car who at that point had stopped in front of me, the forward collision warning came on and the emergency braking applied violently which almost caused a wreck behind me as well becuase the person behind me was not prepared to me to come to a complete abrupt halt. The Palisade stopped itself after the abs wouldn't let me stop soon enough to avoid a collision in front of me - almost causing a wreck behind me. With a simple google search, this abs engaging on rough roads is a major common problem that Hyundai needs to address before we're all paying for wrecks that we didn't cause due to driver neglience but rather the functionality of the vehicle is causing the safety problem. I immediately called my dealership and have an appt for them to look at it early next week. I'm frightened this will cause me or my wife and kids to be in a wreck that could have been prevented.
When exiting a paking lot, the vechile did not warn/detect or di not stop, while there was a 2 feet rock in the front of the bumper, whcih is 2 feet by 2 feet. The big rock hit exactly between the 2 sesonrs and no waring or didnt stop the vechile from colliding which damged the whole front bumper. I had my 2 kids and wife in the vechile, the only concern, I have is my wife drives the vechile all time, if it did not detect/warn/stop before hitting a big rock, what is the garentee it will save us from any major accidents. I took to the delar ship, havent got an appoitment for 2 weeks just to look at the sensors and they say to call hundai coustomr service and after 2 weeks of taking to hundai customer service they are asking me to deal with the delaer ship. And they are pointing to each other while I get no response. And all they say is there is no way to pull the sensor information prior to tha accident.
Collision warning and car came to an immediate stop while driving.
I was approaching a stop sign, slowing down to around ~20 mph, then gently applied the brakes. All of a sudden, the car stared to lurch forward and the steering wheel shuddered violently as the abs braking appeared to kick in. As the brakes were applied, the vehicle kept bouncing forward in spurts rather than stopping and it took almost twice as long to stop than it should have. There was a vehicle in front of me and my vehicle was a foot from rear-ending that car despite me slowing in advance and attempting to brake gently. The collision warning system kicked in and I suspect that the vehicle stopped itself, even though I was firmly holding the brake pedal down. My wife experienced te identical situation a week later, so this is becoming very concerning. A quick search on the internet has revealed that many other 2023 & 2024 model year have experienced the same issues, and apparently Hyundai USA is aware of the issue, but do not have a solution to fix it yet.
On rainy days, the vehicle will start malfunctioning putting at risk my family's life and others. It appears to be an electrical problem according to dealer. It had 15 codes activated, all dashboard lights were lit and safety messages showed up, while driving. No power steering, emergency brakes were activated, transmission wouldn't change, a/c stopped working, temperature and tachometer were erratic. It is very scary because it happens while driving and an accident is imminent.
When driving at slow rate of speed, the "check forward safety system" and "check side safety system' lights will come on spontaneously and will turn off after a few moments and/or if I shut the vehicle off and turn it back on. This happened another time when I was parked in the vehicle where the lights came on spontaneously.
The forward safety breaking in this model is going to kill someone, hopefully not me as I am careful to manually disable it every time I start the car. Otherwise it applies the breaks at dangerous moments. Most often it happens when trees overhang the road, sometimes it is overhead road signs. I am not always sure what the cause is but having my breaks applied hard in the middle of merging multi lane highways is most definitively dangerous. I understand that on the 2023 model this can be permanently disabled so I suspect Hyundai is well aware of the problem. This problem has occurred to me at least a dozen times, and as I said I try to be very careful to disable it everyone I start the car.

System collision disabled and later enabled.
On 7/26/2024 vehicle in to dealer because warning light coming on if doing 55-65 mph stating front radar blocked, front safety system disabled. Vehicle at that time had 15,488 miles on it. Told dealer warning light does not come on while local driving to stores, for gas etc. Dealer said radar module had damage due to "minor collision". Not so, I am [xxx] uses car for local trips mostly. Contacted service manager at dealer--- conicelli in conshohocken PA pursuant to procedure to be followed in warranty booklet, no relief. He tried to push me to make a claim with my auto carrier which I did not. This is a warranty claim not a collision claim. I then contacted Hyundai direct & they also tried to steer me to a auto collision claim. I declined & filed a claim for adr with the bbb & it is pending. Going on line I see this appears to be a common complaint with the Hyundai radar module. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The warning sign about fca, ldw etc. Came on while driving. Cleaned all sensors and still the warning keeps coming up.
The forward collision avoidance assist (fca) system disabled radar blocked pops up on the screen often. I have 2 cracks on my windshield, and I do not have the funds to replace it.
On February 2024, I took the SUV to lynn's Hyundai for an issue with a front sensor or the braking system - the problem is when you're driving at times very often in the streets, the vehicle will automatically cause the brake sensor to go off the dashboard with light up and the brakes will engage causing the vehicle to jerk hard and or stop at times and I have a huge concern that this may cause a serious accident. I was told by Hyundai service department, that perhaps were driving to close to other vehicles to cause this, but it happened several times when there are no vehicles or objects present. Apparently they had no interest in resolving this matter, they claim that the system test showed no duplication of said issue, vehicle was taken on a road test and they found no issues, the recall were all fixed, and I was called to pick up vehicle. I drove a few and the braking started again, so I pulled over and started recording to see if happens again and I was able to catch some of this problem on video. This has caused my husband to lose control of the vehicle causing him to hit a cone on the road. Your immediate help with this matter would be greatly appreciate.
This vehicle is equipped with a forward collision alert system, which did not activate and warn me. As a result a traffic accident occurred where I rear-ended a vehicle in front of me. Vehicle sustained 8000 dollars in damages and is currently being repaired. There were no visible notifications, no alarms of any kind prior to impact. Component was not inspected by the manufacturer. In this scenario, a vehicle in front was stopped at a stop sign, started proceeding forward, I followed, but did not notice them stop again, resulting in a rear-end collision. I was traveling under 25mph (which should be sufficient for the system to work), however as stated before, no alerts were activated.
When vehicle is placed in reverse a warning that pops up says parking sensor error or blockage with a exclamation point in the front comes across on my dash board. Sensors have been cleaned and checked. Also disables the front warning collision feature.
I was driving in the highway in fairly heavy rain. My lane departure system went offline first. Next my forward collision went offline. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and the vehicle started shaking. I stopped under a bridge and waited for the rain to slow. I turned the car off and on, but the issues remained. I was forced to drive 10 miles, at 30 mph, on the highway, with hazards on, to a hotel. This caused an unnecessary unsafe situation. The next day, I took to the dealer. The car ran fine. They reset the codes and said it was likely water getting into the cylinders causing 4 and 6 to fail. I really dont feel a car should do this from driving in the rain. This also caused me an unnecessary hotel stay.
The car will start but would not start moving. The adaptive system will turn on by itself and cause the car to stop moving forward.
My sensors have been having issues since the day I bought my car March 5 2023. It would be intermittent, and became constant. The error reads, "check parking distance warning system" as well as "ultrasonic sensor error or blockage" and my sensors are clean. Nothing blocking them whatsoever. It's constant. I went to my dealership for them to say someone may have hit my car while I was I. The grocery store. Shouldn't there be some serious damage? I don't lcoe the lying. And I don't love how they tried to get me to pay because me sensors wouldn't even calibrate. They said anything could knock them out of wack because Hyundai sensors are super sensitive. Well then they need tk be less sensitive. My car is garage kept, barley leaves the house currently has only 2000 miles after having the car for 2 months now.
