4 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2013

Takata recall I was just made aware of the airbag recall. Ever since I've had this vehicle, 7+ years, the airbag warning light stays on. For the first few years I took it to the dealer service just before inspection by the state of NJ so it could pass inspection but it always came back on a week or so later. It has remained on for all these years when stationary & moving but I put in a date several years ago approximating when it first happened. I'm sure when I trade it in this year, it will cause the trade-value to be lower.

5 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2011

The air bag warning light in the main dash console stays illuminated after starting the vehicle. I have contacted Hyundaiusa. Com customer service & they just referred me to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle "certified used" and they said that the original warranty did not transfer when bought used (5 yrs/60,000 miles). Just to get the problem diagnosed would be $95. So I researched on the internet nhsta website and I found all of the same complaints about this year, make & model. Accidents have been reported where the airbag malfunctions, sensor warning does not work properly, etc. So my question to the nhsta is why hasn't this vehicle been recalled for airbag warning light malfunction with all of the complaints you have received? this is a dangerous safety issue especially if it prevents airbags from deploying in an accident. Please investigate with Hyundai & hopefully this can be corrected with a recall. Thank you.

6 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2009

Airbag system (passenger side) doesn't always "sense" the occupant accurately, in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle's front-passenger "airbag off" warning light came on whenever a small adult was in the seat, or would intermittently turn off depending on the person's sitting position. This affects my 125 pound wife who by Hyundai's test is considered a person of "smaller stature. " I was told 130 lbs is the minimum weight to enable the airbag but again depending on her sitting position, the light will go on and off. The same system works fine in a 2009 Hyundai sonata in which she would be protected. Why is there a difference?.

7 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2008

Air bag warning light came on and remained on. First incident, may 2008. I have brought the car to the dealer three times for repair operations, and a few more times for diagnostic checks, but the problem persists. Attempts at repair have included replacement of the front passenger seat and the air bag system control module. Some of those repair operations seemed to work for a while, but the problem keeps returning.

8 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag off warning light continued to illuminate. The dealer advised that the occupant of the passenger seat must weigh 110 pounds or more in order for the air bag to engage. The contact was concerned because for a small statured person, the air bag would not engage if needed. The dealer advised the contact that they were unable to make repairs to adjust to a person's weight. In addition, the contact stated if on a slight incline, the emergency brake would not engage. The dealer advised the contact that the failure was normal in his specific year, make and model. The vehicle was not repaired for either failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105 and the current mileage was 34,688.

9 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2006

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving between 5 and 60 mph, the passenger side air bag warning light was illuminating intermittently. The dealer inspected the vehicle approximately five times and is unable to determine the cause of failure. No repairs were made. The current mileage was 21,000 and failure mileage was 1,000. The consumer stated the passenger seat was replaced in July 2007, however there was still no change in operation. Updated 10/24/07.
