This is an oil consumption & engine failre car was being serviced by Hyundai for oil consumption test, and failed, 1 quart of oil consumed every 400 miles. On 7/23/23, engine failed on PA turnpike while travelling 70 mph, and almost caused an accident. At 65k miles Hyundai agreed to to conduct oil consumption test, and submit for engine replacement, first part of oil consumption test failed, and car was set for engine under Hyundai warranty, but 2 days prior to cleaning engin failed. Engine has had high pressure fuel pump replaced, and I reported gas smell from oil catalytic convertor was replaced @ 55k miles, as oil consumed burned out convertor. Now that the engine valves are burned, Hyundai is not honoring the good faith engine replacement.
Oil excessive consumption problem I bought it with 65,000 miles and I noticed the problem when I service the car that did not have oil Hyundai knows that the 2017 Santa Fe sport have those factory problem I address that poblem to Hyundai and they do not want to replace the engine. That 2. 4 l engine ceased suddenly and that is a dangerous proble that could happen when you are driving on the highway I need Hyundai to be reponsible and resolve the issue by replacing the engine. Ps. I need help on this problem.
Bought Hyundai sante fe sport 2017 36,871 miles on 09-23-2019 dealership oil change 03-06-20 miles 41104 dealership oil change, 03-03-21 miles 47409 oil very low and dark in color. Dealership requesting oil consumption test every 1000 miles, 04-01-21 1. 5 quarts low. I have to do 2 more test, this is a skirt around the problem, and an engine flush for sludge, more skirting the problem. My warranty expires in 6 weeks!.
The engine had been burning up the oil in the car. We had a oil change on 11/30/20 and the car has 0 oil as of today. The engine might be blown. The car only has 88k miles on it.
There has been a knock since the car was bought 3 yrs ago. It burns threw at about1-2 quart of oil every 2000 miles triggering the oil light to come on. Oil changes are done every 3000 miles with full synthetic always. It's also been taken into Hyundai of olympia for acceleration issue while driving (doesn't shift up/down, shift very hard, stutters when shifting) also asked about oil consumption when taken in for recall and was told the oil consumption was normal.
Vehicle began burning through 3-4 quartz of oil every 1,000 miles after vehicle got close to 75k miles. When the issue first began, the cause was unknown. After running multiple oil consumption tests, it is now believed to be an engine deficiency.
Let me say my Hyundai Santa Fe limited ultimate 3. 3l awd is a very good and reliable vehicle never had any issues or problems. Always kept it maintained. Well about a month ago I happen to start my Hyundai with the door open and I heard a sound just for a few seconds. The sound of a engine low on oil what could not believe it, it can't be. So I checked it and sure enough it needed oil, dumbfounded no oil puddles anywhere on the ground I was kinda in shock this has never happened didn't need to worry about that its never leaked oil and none of the gentlemen that changes the oil never said anything oil about the oil being low or oil on the engine. So I found out what kinda of oil it took and put about 3 1/2 quarters. Ok all better but still wondering how that happend just recently had the oil changed. Well the next morning I had to drive to san diego from long beach checked oil ok no problem all good. So im on the freeway driving throu oceanside camp pendleton and was getting hungry so the first exit after driving through oceanside I was going to stop and get something mind you no lights no smells no smoke. So I started to exit still everything just fine and when I slowed down coming to the light the engine stalled again no smoke no lights no smells. I was very suprised I tried to start it and nothing tried again and nothing. So I called aaa they looked at it and didn't see anything wrong but would not start. So I had them take it on a flat bed to Hyundai harbor off of cherry where it sits now. They looked at it and said the engine has seized up it will not rotate. Took oil pan off and found metal pieces and said the bearings went bad in turn burning up the oil and seized the engine. That pretty much it so is their anything that can be done to help me. I still owe around $19,000 on it and dont know what to do I'm glad I found that little article because I need help.
