Odometer fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe sport. The vehicle was a dealer sale. The contact stated that while attempting to trade the vehicle, the contact was informed by the dealer that the odometer had been rolled back prior to the purchase. The contact had purchased the vehicle in March 2022. A carfax report indicated that the odometer was reported at approximately 75,585 miles on January 28th, 2022, and 55,710 miles on February 11, 2022, reflecting a 20,000 miles difference. The contact stated that the mileage at the time of purchase was unknown. The vehicle currently had approximately 132,064 miles. The issue was reported to the pennsylvania state police and the pennsylvania attorney general.

The contact purchased a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 71,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage on the title 43,655 and the dmv informed her after their research was tempered with and they stated the mileage should be 143,655.

Odometer fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe on March 11, 2024, from a private dealer with approximately 46,000. The contact was informed that the vehicle had only one owner who had leased the vehicle. Recently, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The mechanic retrieved a carfax report and discovered that the vehicle had five previous owners and there were several mileage discrepancies. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 46,000. However, it was discovered that the last known accurate mileage on the vehicle was 113,000.

Odometer fraud. The contact purchased a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 142,000. It was later discovered, during a VIN check, that the mileage was 223,000. The mileage was last recorded in June 2025. The local police department was notified of the fraud. However, due to insufficient information about the seller, no report was filed.
