My husband and I purchased this car brand new, with only 252 miles on it. On the third day of owning it we were driving and within 5 miles the car began alarming with the center driver console indicating the engine was overheated. The temperature gauge was in the red zone. After a few seconds it dropped slightly and fluctuated in the upper 2/3s of the high temperature region. We drove to the dealership, which was within 10 miles. Once we were within half a mile the car engine began rattling every-time I tried to accelerate and the temperature gauge at this point remained in the redline. In addition, during all of this we turned the heat on to pull some heat from the engine but only cold air would blow. We were within the 3 day grace period of no questions asked return policy so we decided to return the call as it was brand new and had such a serious malfunction. We have not heard back from the dealership as to why the car malfunctioned.

While driving westbound on I-80 on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at 2:33 pm the front portion of the panoramic sunroof exploded with the sound of a 12 gauge shotgun. The glass went flying and came into the vehicle. No prior damage to the sun roof and the air temperature was 64 degrees. We were traveling at 65 mph.

The fuel gauge fluctuates and is not accurate. After filling up the gas tank, the fuel gauge may show "empty", and it rises and falls very quickly. This can occur when driving straight, turning, or when parked while the vehicle is turned on. There is no way to accurately tell how much fuel is left in the tank. This faulty fuel gauge could leave any Santa Fe motorist and their passengers stranded in a dangerous area(e. G. Busy highway) or condition(e. G. Blizzard or heat wave in arizona). Please initiate a recall to have this fixed. Per online sources, many Santa Fe owners in this year range have this same broken fuel gauge.

"takata recall" my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, at approximately 110 miles, developed a problem, which actually results in a serious/safety problem. The problem is with the fuel system fuel gauge displaying the correct amount of fuel available in the tank. I don't know if the problem is with the fuel pumps, or the fuel sensing units in the gas tanks, or with the wiring between the gas tank and the gas gauge, or with the gas gauge itself. It doesn't matter if the vehicle is stationary or moving nor if the vehicle is slanted at an angle. Quite often the problem results in the "check engine" light coming on. So far I've only run out of gas once, and since I was on the freeway this was a very serious safety issue as I lost both my steering and braking systems. Any more I stop for fuel after about 120 miles or so. My Hyundai dealer has quoted my a price of around $3,000. 00 (that's three thousand dollars) to fix the problem, and he said that they can't even guarantee that the problem won't reoccur. And he said that this is not included in the extended warranty which I purchased with the vehicle. This is an issue that "Hyundai" should take care of !!!.

First problem, gas gauge stopped working. Fluctuated up and down, then would read empty right after filling the tank. Had to have 2 sensors and fuel pump changed. Very expensive!! now the car stalls when slowing down. Every morning when I leave for work it stalls at least once, it has started back up, but this morning the motor felt very groggy and I did not feel safe in driving it anymore. Took it home. I've brought it to mechanics and it never dies for them and they can not find anything wrong with it, did it two more times after that, taking it tonight to see if they can figure it out. This is extremely unsafe!! it died the first time in the middle of the street! I was so afraid someone was going to run into the back of me! this is a huge problem and all over the internet with other Santa Fe owners for this year. I want Hyundai to step up to the plate and recall these cars! they are unsafe!!!.
My engine light is still on after replacing the fuel sensor 2 times and fuel pump I do not even know how much gas is in my car because the gauge is not correct. No matter what they do the engine light remains on it failed the e check ?????? there has been thousands of people with this same problem.

When the vehicle is filled up with gas the fuel gauge goes to zero and the engine service light comes on and the codes generated are p2067, p0463 and p0464. At some point the gauge begins working properly again but the accuracy of the gauge is in question. There is a safety concern since the vehicle could run out of gas at any time leaving the user stranded in bad weather or in a dangerous traffic situation. This problem is not isolated, judging from similar complaints on the internet, it appears that the parts used for the fuel level indication are unreliable and a recall is needed to resolve this safety issue. The problem occurs at fill up and driving has no effect on this issue and has been happening to my vehicle over the last couple of months but seems to be getting worse as time goes on. .
Fuel gauge always reads as empty, regardless of movement or amount of gas in tank, leaving driver to run out of gas in undesirable places. Repair is approx 600-800 dollars. Many complaints should be recalled. Has to do with the fuel sending sensor or something I was told.
On several occasions the fuel gauge is not registering that there is gas after having filled the tank to capacity. It is impossible to know if the car has gas or not.
There has been numerous instances when my vehicle has a full tank and during driving the gauge suddenly indicate an empty tank. The check engine light comes on on further investigation I have discovered that this is a common issue with this make vehicle. I am afraid of travelling I believe that this issue needs to be investigated as it could cause a safety issue for drivers who make the assumption that this is only a sensor problem and continue driving and suddenly stall in the middle of the road.
Only 85k miles on the Hyundai used for normal driving. The fuel gauge/sensors have begun acting erratic. Filled the gas tank and gauge showed full. Very next morning gauge down to a quarter tank. Purchased gas and only needed 3 gallons. Fuel gauge all over the place and not measuring gas correctly. Creates an unsafe condition as driver does not reliably know how much fuel is available. Many issues like this according to posts on internet. Hyundai has a systematic problem and should repair free of charge.
Fuel gauge has been faulty and check engine light would turn on and off after replacing what I thought was a bad battery one month ago. One week ago while driving, all lights on dashboard came on (battery, check engine, abs, esc. . . ), engine started to rev, electrical and power steering failed, and car had to be turned off in the middle of the road and towed home. This has happened twice while driving now. Issue is from a failing/failed alternator caused by oil leak from front valve cover. This problem is identical to issues with '06-'12 veracruz, recall #121.
I was parking my car in a space at a local store. The car took off. Sudden acceleration. Went forward probably a good 15 feet before I was able to stop. I also had to have both fuel tank sensors replaced. My gas gauge would not register properly. Fluctuated up and down at random moments. Cost me $364. 51! seems to be a continuing problem.
I bought my Santa Fe in 2008, with 12,000 miles on it. I've had to replace a gas pedal switch, gear shift switch, gas gauge switch, driver's seat switch, two batteries replaced, the driver's visor hung down, both hydraulics lifts gate replace, backseat left side door lock replace and still doesn't work right and of course the esc light problems. All the problems started in January 2015.
The fuel gauge began faultily showing empty only to slowly creep up to the correct level of gas. It now shows empty at all times. Full tank, empty tank, makes no difference.
The gas gauge is not working properly and it seems to be due to the fuel sensor. It constantly fluctuates up and down. It causes the check engine light to be on consistently. This seems to be something that a lot of Hyundai customers are dealing with per websites that I have read.
2 complaints: 1. My fuel injector needed to be replaced twice within a year. I deal with a local autobody and they stated this has been a problem for years. The issue causes your gas gauge to be incorrect and the car eventually stops running. Expensive to fix. 2. The driver side sun visor broke off and hung by wires while I was driving. This, again, seems to be a consistent problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. Why no recalls for any of these things?? plenty of forums discussing the same problems for so many consumers.
Two weeks ago, I started my car and was shocked to see the fuel gauge way below "e" and the light had turned on, along with the "check engine" light. I was afraid I had neglected to get gas, even thought I was pretty sure that when I left the car the night before I was over a 1/4 of a tank. I made it to the gas station and fueled up. I only put $20 in at the time, because I was in a hurry. I got in, started the car and I was up almost full, which is nearly impossible on $20 in a Santa Fe. It turns out I had plenty of gas in the tank and the gauge wasn't registering it properly. This has happened several times in the last two weeks. It's almost like the car needs to "warm up" before the fuel gauge actually registers the amount of gas correctly. And the check engine light continues to go on and off intermittently. I am concerned that problem could worsen with time and will effect other systems in the car. I am also concerned that I may actually run of out gas and be stuck somewhere with my child because the gauge isn't accurate and like all human beings. . I can't always remember the last time I fueled up.
For past 2 years my fuel tank will sender it's full when it's been low and only too 5 gals in a 19 gal. Tank. I have read over many times complaints that the gas gauge doesn't work?? I've been quoted $425 to repair it? it's a 2008 Hyundai sante fe limited. The chk engine light was on my mechanic used the car detector system. It states fuel cap issues. I replaced that $70 later it not working. I've dealt with this for too many years.
At start up I noticed that the fuel gauge needle was not registering the correct amount of fuel in the tank. It stayed pegged at zero amount of fuel. Later and no it registers sometime and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it registers full with a full tank and then sinks to h#alf a tank and later to zero, hardly indicating the correct amount of fuel.
