1 Software problem of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

80 miles into a weeks vacation my engine light came on, car was still drivable, backtracked 20 miles to dealer, left my nice car (11,000 miles)there for the week while using a rental car with 177,000 miles on it. Problem was pertaining to campaign 953 engine problems. A wiring harness was put in, and the dealer updated the software that had been updated that March, and they said that was all fixed. I have watched the video on this campaign problem, and it scares me where I cannot take my car out of town/on vacations out west! if this engine fails, I wouldn't always be able to get to a dealer. I'm living in the fear of this, and am supposed to have "peace of mind" enjoying my nice car? I had to leave vacation a day early( resort paid for that final night we didn't get to enjoy), spent that night in hotel, just to get to that dealer to pick up my car before their closing time. I had to fight to get the full reimbursement for the car rental and one night hotel bill. Through the attorney generals office, Hyundai finally paid that which was only fair when a recall was involved! now I find that I have cancelled going to out of town funerals, and short weekend vacations, because my engine could go out. I have asked for a new engine, and the last message from Hyundai was all about my car doesn't fit the description for the lemon law. . . . Which I have never mentioned. I have asked for statistics on how many engines have had to be replaced because of this campaign 953 issue, but no one has any! is this true?? how can I get my engine replaced, so I can enjoy my car? that video should never have been out there if I and others have to keep driving with an engine that can be dangerous in many ways!.

2 Software problem of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/05/2019

On March 5, this vehicle stopped while driving in the middle of a street. I was unable to start the vehicle and me and my passenger could have been seriously injured or killed. Car was towed to dealership and has 2600 miles on it. I have found that Hyundai is doing a recall to replace starter and a software update. I have been told that because of the new technology this vehicle has which is an automatic start and stop at a stop sign or stop light that the starter shorted out and apparently the software in the car just stops the car while driving. . This happened while driving the car at 35 miles/hour on a busy street. It is a miracle that I was not hit and injured or killed. Car is at the dealership waiting for a new starter and software update with a possible ship date of March 31, 2019. These 2019 Santa Fe are not safe to be selling to the public with this known defect.

4 Software problem of the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 03/26/2012

I have had the same problem with my 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe reported in other odi complaints. Specifically, my vehicle stalls randomly while traveling at low speeds. Odi id #10460671, #10453272, and #10412636, all seem to report the same problem I have. Occasionally, while braking or allowing the car to stop, it will stall out. When it does, accelerating, power steering, and power braking are all disabled. Once the car gear is shifted to park and the ignition is turned off, the problem resolves after re-starting the car later. The dealership service department had worked on this car for the same problem four times without being able to 1. Diagnose the problem and 2. Come up with an adequate remedy. Even though the technicians have not been able to reproduce the stalling, the first three times it was in the shop, three different repairs were made. They have all involved computer fixes, including changing out the contacts, replacing the junction box, and updating software. Hyundai is aware of my issue and the pending lemon law arbitration claim that I have made. Hyundai has currently made the unilateral determination that this vehicle does not qualify as a lemon, which I dispute because 1. This determination is not capable of being made unilaterally, and 2. This is a serious safety defect and more than a "reasonable" amount of repair attempts have been unsuccessful. A managing engineer has examined the vehicle without finding any problems, and I'm currently working with Hyundai to have a "flight recorder" installed to record data when the car stalls next. The most recent occurrence was while I was driving in heavy traffic without a shoulder on the freeway--a life-threatening situation. I consider this car to be an unreliable safety threat on the roadways and have communicated this to Hyundai, but its representative do not have the same sense of urgency I have.

5 Software problem of the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

Failure Date: 10/30/2005

The contact complained about several problems. The first problem was the traction control, which allowed the front wheels to slip in the snow. The electronic accelerator cut in and out when the traction control was on. The dealer was contacted, and they suggested turning the traction control off. The contact tried the dealer's suggestion. And now, only one wheel will turn in the snow, the engine idled low, and the vehicle did not move forward. The second problem occurred on normal road conditions the vehicle lurched forward after a complete stop. The last problem was the check engine light which intermittently illuminated. The dealer replaced the dps valve sensor and reprogrammed the computer software. The contact had only driven the vehicle once since the repairs were completed, and did not notice any difference in the performance of the vehicle.
