My car (Hyundai Sonata 2006) was traveling the intersection with a green light. The other car was traveling the intersection with a red light, and did strike the driver side of my car. The other car caused the severe damage to my car and I got injured. My car's side air bag was inflated, but my driver front air bag was not inflated so that I got permanently injured in my eyebrow and chronic back-pain. I strongly believe that if my driver front air bag was inflated, I do not suffer from chronic back-pain and do not have a permanent scar in my eyebrow.

The contact also stated that the defective air bag sensor could prevent the air bag from deploying in the event of a crash. Also, the passenger side seat light illuminated when a passenger had the seat belt buckled. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer reset the codes to the air bag sensor, but that did not remedy the failure. The dealer stated that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 61,000.
2006 Hyundai Sonata driver side air bag light is on and Hyundai won't fix it I think it needs to be a recall since there are so many with this problem thank you!.
There is a recall on my car for the OCS , occupant classification system . Its what tells the car to turn on the passenger side airbag when an adult is in the seat. I took my car into the dealer for repairs like the letter stated and was turned away saying it works fine, even though I had an adult in the seat and the system said the air bag was turned off . After a few calls to Hyundai motor America, the dealer decided to send the passenger seat in for testing . I received my car back from the shop on 10-27-08. The following day my 19 year old was in the seat and the light was illuminated saying "passenger air bag off" I called Hyundai motor America and was told they would rectify the situation. Today is 11-17-08 and I have yet to receive a phone call regarding this matter. The dealership is refusing to help me , stating that " we fixed it once and its not our problem anymore" I am at my wits end as to what to do now . No one seems to want to fix the issue. They simply tell me to deal with it .
The passenger side airbag signal on the dashboard very often does not go off when my wife sits in the seat. It seems to be intermittent but most often it does not work. I have heard rumors about a recall but, so far, we have not been notified of this directly.

My husband and I rented a 2006 Hyundai Sonata v6 from avis car rental in kansas city, missouri while on vacation. While returning to kansas city on I-70, the car in the lane next to us blew a tire, lost control, spun in the road and hit the passenger side of our car with the front of their car, forcing us off the roadway and into the median of the interstate. I was sitting in the front passenger seat and the passenger door struck the side of my torso as it was caving in, injuring my right shoulder and neck. Although Hyundai advertises both side impact and side curtain airbags, neither airbag deployed in this high-speed side-impact crash, resulting in injury to my shoulder. We do not know the repair status of the rental car, but have been informed by avis that they have hired engineers to review the car and determine why the airbags did not deploy.
