Air Bag Light On problems of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata - part 1

Air bag light has come on and hasn't gone off. . . Mechanic say it may be a senor but when I looked up the VIN to check open recalls nothing pops up but from further reading this is a main issue with these vechiles.

The front driver side door handle has came off and so has the passenger side. The inside door handle on the driver side has came off and the driver side door is totally inoperable. This s a total safety hazard in the event of an emergency, a car crash god forbid or even the car catching fire. Getting to safety would be very difficult. I cant afford to continuing fixing an issue that is defected to begin with. The brake lights doesn't illuminate all time when engaged and my air bag lights are on and my car sways in the back due to the control arm being rusted.

The passenger buckle was replaced in April 2017 after airbag light came on. October 2019 went to dealer to have airbag light checked and they again say the passenger buckle needs to be replaced. They say it is not covered by Hyundai 15 year warranty on seat belt buckle issues. Code is b1518. They say it has to flash a different code for the extended warranty. Paid $406 in 2017 for the repair and will need to pay $480 to have it replaced again. I rarely use the passenger seating because I usually drive alone. I am the original owner.

The airbag light comes on and off from time to time. I notice that there was a recall for this issues on 2008 model. However by my VIN number it won't show that needs an attention on it. Please let me know what to do. Also, there is moose on the front side , passenger side. On the back the car wiggles over 60mph or if I have 3 people on the back. Thanks.

My air bag light came on in my car about 2 months ago I didn't pay it any mind at first until I realize that it is a safety issues when driving and an accident occurs. Not sure what is the problem with it but it needs to be fix.

The airbag light went on on the dashboard and the �passenger airbag off� light was no longer illuminated when there is no one sitting in the seat. Error code b1448 was found to be the error, which is a faulty passenger seat sensor mat. I have small children and this may be an issue because the airbag will always deploy regardless of who is sitting there. This happened while stationary upon turning the car on one day.

For the past year I have had this car when I bought it used. I heard that there was a recall about it when I looked it up but not my car specificly. For the past year my airbag light has turned on and off every now and again and now its just on. I continued to look up details concerning the situation and there have been many recalls for my vehicle but not mine specifically. And since it is a used vehicle I do not know if the previous owner or dealership has done the recall for it.

The airbag light is on and when ran on diagnostic machine it is the OCS mat fault. It has been reported an acknowledged issue on the 2008 Hyundai but when I informed the dealership they said my body type vehicle is not covered? why would this be?.

The dealer stated that the passenger side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that parts and labor would not be covered per NHTSA campaign number: 08e021000 (exterior lighting) in regards to the headlights. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign numbers: 08v161000 (air bags) and 08e021000 (exterior lighting) as potential causes of the failures. The failure mileage was 121,605.

While the car was parked in the driveway of my home, I turned the vehicle on and the airbags lights came on the dash. I drove it work and hoping the airbag lights will turn off and it did not. I took the problem to the Hyundai dealership for evaluation. A little history, my airbag lights came on back in 2012, case #10352554, the vehicle had a recall for it. The dealership sent the front right passenger seat to California for repairs. The problem was fixed. Now jump forward 2017, my airbags light came on again and the dealership advised me the problem is not related to the recall back in 2012. The dealership advised me the problem now had to do with the front passenger seat pressure sensor (cushion) for the airbags. According to the dealership they would have to replace the whole front passenger seat to fix the problem in order for my front passenger seat airbag to deploy properly during an accident. I feel that this is a defect with this Hyundai vehicle and a secondary problem related to the airbag recall. I feel the problem should be investigated further to prevent any injury or death.

Air bag light is on. Was told the passenger seat mat sensor may be defective. Seat belt light flashes all the time unless the seat belt is hooked. Thought there was a recall to get the air bags fixed. Car needs to be inspected and won't pass with the air bag light on.

My driver's side airbag light has been on for quite some time, and my passenger side airbag light is not detecting anyone sitting in the passenger seat. I took my car to a mechanic and was told it's an electrical issue with my airbags and may be due to a faulty wiring issue under the front passenger seat. Additionally, the low beam on my driver side lighting fixture is not working, although I've had the bulb replaced multiple times. Further, the headlights, although also replaced, don't work at all.

My car only has 82,000 miles on it and I am the second owner. For some reason the airbag light came on. I received an extended warranty notification earlier this year in regards to seat buckle assemblies on 2006-2008 Sonatas, which applied to my car. At that time however, I had no issues with the airbag light but now the light has come on. I went to the dealer and they stated that my issue has nothing to do with the seat belt buckle however it has to do with a b1448 080 (occupant classification system) (mat defect) I have spent some time doing research and it appears that a number of people have been experiencing this issue. I am not sure whats going on here but I think we need to look into the air bag issue. I have been quoted a cost of $1,300 to fix this problem and I do not feel that this is acceptable and that the cost should not be pushed on to the consumer, given that it appears to be mat defect which probably stems from the manufacturer. I have also taken this car to the same dealer for service and all the records of service are available. I am just concerned that this air bag issue may be very serious.

B1448 issue showing OCS mat defect. Red dash light saying "air bag" came on @104000 miles and remains on. Light came on while driving with no occupant in passenger seat. No accidents or airbag deployments. Dealer indicates no active recall however NHTSA shows "Hyundai recall no. 083. System which features an occupant classification system (OCS) in the right front seat. The purpose of the OCS is to disable the right passenger seat front air bag when it detects the presence of a child restraint system or small child in the right front seat. The right front air bag is disabled to prevent injuries to a child that may result from a right front air bag inflation during a crash. I have an appointment today but since dealer will check VIN for active recalls, expect them to deny recall service and try to make me pay for repair. Had a notice back in 2019 saying to take vehicle to dealer to check which I did and without the benefit of a scan, they had someone sit in the seat to verify light extinguished but did no repair. My 13 year old daughter (weighing 85 pounds)would sit in seat and "airbag off light" would remain on when it should have extinguished and provided air bag protection. They told me the threshold was above my daughter's weight but would not tell me what the weight is supposed to be. I disagreed with their assessment and let them know. However, the dash airbag light moi was not lighting at that time but now is on. I believe the sensor is defective and computer is trying to determine whether anyone is in the seat or not.

Air bag light will not go off, dealership said it was the passenger seat belt receiver, which I replaced with a new part, airbag light is still on and now I am told it is the passenger seat pressure sensor. I saw there have been recalls but was told my car was not included. I am unable to inspect the car in the state of maine now.

Car was part of the passenger airbag recall and seat was replaced years ago. Problem was never fully fixed as sensor still failed to recognize passengers at times. Now dash board air bag light is continuously illuminated. Also, passenger seat belt indicator constantly flashes with no passenger.

Air bag light on dash will not go out. Passenger seatbelt air bag light also will not go out with or without someone in the seat. Both lights are still on after a warranty visit at the dealership. They cleared the codes and did the tensioner repair, but lights are still on. Several blogs with similar situations have come up with an internet search but even those people have spent the $ to fix the issue and the lights are still on for them too. Please fix!!!!!.

The front passenger seat belt buckle assembly failed, took to dealership and code of b1518 came up. Basically the seat belt buckle needs to be replaced and then when replaced the air bag light on the dashboard will go away. With the eror in the seat belt buckle, this thus illuminates the air bag light on the console. This seems to be a known issue with this make, model and year and yet Hyundai is not doing anything about this and wants us to pay everything out of pocket.

When my daughter buckled the right front passenger seatbelt she stated it felt funny. During that exact time the seatbelt light began flashing and the airbag light came on.

1st air bag light came on and stayed on. Second seat belt light keeps on blinking.

Air bag light is illuminated. Was told problem was seat belt pre-tensior on the driver side. Also, seat belt buckle sensor bad in passenger buckle. On going investigation by NHTSA now for these issues on 2006-2008 Hyundai Sonata's. Quoted price of $575. 00 to fix problem.
