Air Bag Light On problems of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata - part 1

Hyundai brunswick (5400 altama Ave #2, brunswick, GA 31525) was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,000.

My steering wheel shakes and my radio blew out and the airbag light is on and won't go out. I�m.

The airbag light has been on and the steering has slowly gotten really loose and making clicking sounds. It now almost hitches when you turn it and our mechanic said it was unsafe to drive. The buttons on the steering wheel do not work either. We had our personal mechanic look at it and he found the extended warranty info from old recalls. He also called the dealer and they confirmed the extended warranty info on both the steering and the airbag. We then took it from our personal mechanic to the dealer and the dealer said it was not covered under the extended warranty due to the incorrect code during diagnostics. The charge is going to be $1950. 00 to fix it as it needs a whole new steering column and coupler and something else. We have had so many recalls fixed on this car that it's getting ridiculous. I love how they "recall" and pay for the little things, but not this big things that is serious and dangerous. We have received a letter stating that the engine could seize so just waiting for that to happen . . . . Not a very happy Hyundai customer at the moment. We will not pay the $1950. 00 and I will for sure keep fighting this battle. Hyundai should stand behind their products and it's obvious something is wrong as so many people have documented the same problems. They need to make this right and fix it before someone gets seriously injured.

The airbag lights come on when going around a corner or hitting a bump in the road. Goes on and off randomly.

Air bag light went on and won't go off. After a gas station fill up the light went on when we started to move.

My engine light has been on for 6 months and I had the timer sensor replaced twice. And it is still on. My car steering wheel vibrates at times. The steering wheel makes a cracking noise while parking or pulling out. Also my airbag light has been on continuous for 6 months over the steering wheel. Keep taking it to the shop and told to check recalls but my car is never listed.

My car has 110,000 miles and suddenly the air bag light will not go off. I know I had recall #174 that was serviced in July of 2019. Less then a year later the dealer is suggesting I make an appointment for a $125. 00 diagnostic check!!!!.

My air bag light came on. Several months ago I went to the dealership because I received a recall notice. I had one of the serviceman look it up and he said he had to order the part. When it comes in he was going to give me a call. I never received a call and the dealership been shut down because of title fraud. I tried to get another dealership to look into it but they are saying they don't have me in a recall list. I believe the fraud dealership took my car off the list before fixing the problem. I just want my car fix so my son and I can drive safe. Please help a single mother!!!.

My air bag light is on and will not go off, I searched up recalls and it's not on there but I do not feel safe driving my disabled children in this vehicle!.

Out of nowhere when vehicle is sitting still, the airbag light keeps popping on. It will stay on for a while, but then go off. I went to have my oil changed and event though it was at 3,000 miles, the oil was low, dark, sludgy and metal shavings were found in my oil pan---engine sometimes sputters. Finally my interior lights won't go off, I have to just keep them to the off position versus "door" so that my battery doesn't drain.

My airbag light stays on. Also my horn does not work. I've changed fuses with what I thougt could be burnt out associated with the horn but still does not work. I was in driving mode when I noticed both the airbag light on and the horn not working.

I bought this car in 2013 for the Hyundai dealership in gurnee IL. Since then I have had nothing but recalls, and issues. All of the recalls for this year and affected my car as in the warning they way may happen actually happen to me. My engine seized up while I was driving with 2 kids in the car on a busy street and I was almost re ended as a result only to have the dealership tell me it wasn't the recall! then later they had to fix it after I work to corporate because it was the 132 campaign recall. The 3 dealership I have dealt with are all rude none want to actually fix your car or help you because its recall work not actually work that they make money off of. Now as of today my airbag light has come on after the "fixed" the newest safety recall, when I called the dealership they informed me they fixed the issue so I will be charged $139. 99 for them to even look at it. When will Hyundai be actually held responsible for all of these car issues they are all safety. So far the recalls have been for the engine, seat belts, brakes, air bags, body corrosion, and so on! I thought there was lemon law in place to remedy this, Hyundai product faulty vehicles with the model year 2011 and the consumer if the one lose and spending out of pocket. I had even called corporate before this to try and remedy the issue myself and was told they are sorry some will call in 3-5 days. At this point I am a mother driving around with children in a vehicle that may or may not pop the air bags whenever it feels like or they will not deploy if I do get in an accident. Something needs to be done with these cars they are not safe to be driving at any given time another recall can cause a major safety related crash or death at this point. I have had way to many close call with myself or my kids lives at risk due to Hyundai lack of care for their consumers.

The airbag light will not go out. It came on while I was driving on a city street. My daughter was in the front passenger seat. We both had our seatbelts on. I'm concerned for our safety. Not sure what the airbag light is trying to warn.

Air bag light stays on, never had an accident. Had the engine replaced because of failure. Hyuundai replaced engine but now have air bag problem. Car was moving when light came on.

While driving the car I heard a knocking noise under the hood , the oil light indicator came on and there was as oil burning smell. The car just stopped running and stalled out.

Before Nov 6,2018, we did not have any issues with our air bag control system. On Nov 6, 2018, we took our Sonata into parma Hyundai on brookpark rd in ohio and had them perform the airbag control unit recall. They said it was complete despite the NHTSA's website saying the recall is incomplete. A few weeks after said recall was completed by Hyundai our airbag light has come on and has stayed on. We took it back to Hyundai and they refused to look at it without paying $100 something diagnosis fee. We never had any airbag issues with our car until they did this recall. Hyundai completeing said recall caused the reason for the recall in the first place.

The contact had to apply force to the area near the window to get it to slowly go up and down. In addition, a chime was heard each time the front driver and passenger seat belts were secured, and a warning indicator illuminated for the seat belts. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Steering lock loose and rattles when turning and when driving 70+mph. (started 2015) airbag light recently turned on and stays on. (started sept 18/2018).

There is a recall from Feb. 2018-Hyundai motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011 Sonata vehicles. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (acu) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying. There is still no remedy for this issue-8 months later! my airbag light has come on- in addition to this being a safety issue - whether my airbags will deploy in an accident- my vehicle will not pass the mandatory annual state rmv inspection required. How am I to pass inspection so that I can continue to drive this car?.

I am the original owner of a 2011 Sonata sport. It now has 41,634 miles on it and is extremely well maintained by me. The air bag indicator on the dash shows a sign that there is an air bag problem. When a passenger is in the front seat, the digital words say no passenger air bag on. Dealer says it isn't covered by repair and that it is a costly investigation and repair. I have another newer santa fee also. The indicator comes on while parked and moving.
