The airbag indicator light is on in my vehicle and will not shut off. I took the vehicle to see about the service light indicator, but they will not service this indicator light. This is a safety issue if the airbag will not deploy with this light on!.
My airbag light is on and also it says airbag off. This came on sept. 2nd 2020 approximately 10:00am while driving to the grocery store a few miles from my house. It has remained on ever since that date and time. I don't feel safe. If something happens my airbag will not deploy. This is dangerous and I feel it is a default of the manufacturer Hyundai. This started in July 2018. Airbag light on. Took to dealer scanned for error for front impact sensor. Rescanned to repair and no error code so reset light. Drove less than 5 miles and light back on. Took again to dealer March 2019. Scanned for error front impact sensor. Ordered part and replaced so far have over $400 invested. Next day returned to dealer as light back on. Rescanned need to replacesrscm airbag module assembly at $779 to fix maybe. Frustrated contacted Hyundai opened case 15629286. Basically was told out of warranty so they can do nothing, take up with dealer. So since then afraid to transport front passenger since was told that airbag may not deploy in a crash. I find it difficult to believe that Hyundai will not stand behind their product with all the bad press and recalls regarding airbag issues. I have diligently kept up with the numerous recalls on this car.

Airbag failed to deploy. After hitting a pole.
"takata recall" air bags did not deploy. Neither any of family members nor myself will be allowed to drive this vehicle until the repair is complete. I have no vehicle that I can drive and the Hyundai is not safe to drive.
Takata recall. . . I received a urgent recall notice about the driver side airbag not deploying in an accident. I made many calls to my dealership and to Hyundai corporate offices and all I am told is "there is no remedy yet". This is unacceptable. I believe that Hyundai should offer car rentals than to have customer's drive in a vehicle with an unsafe driver's side airbag!.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds over train tracks, the steering wheel shook and made a clicking noise. In addition, when making right or left turns, the steering wheel continued to make the clicking noise even when the vehicle stopped. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Airbag indicator light came on (and stayed on) when I started the vehicle in a parking lot on 12/13/2017. I immediately brought the vehicle to the dealership and the dealership said it was related to the passenger side and that the passenger side airbag would not deploy until the problem was found and necessary repairs completed. Research shows that this is a pervasive issue in Hyundai Sonatas for all model years to date. Several forums discuss this same issue and I see that several complaints have been submitted through the NHTSA as well. This issue involves both the airbags and the electrical system (sensors; passenger seat track) and poses a major safety risk. I was allowed to bring the car home, in order to weigh my options. I have driven the car once, and cycled the car on and off in my driveway. The airbag dash indicator remains illuminated. The cost to repair this issue feels exorbitant, especially since it appears to be more related to manufacturer defect that normal wear and tear. I am now stuck paying $1500 or feeling completely unsafe having a passenger ride in my front seat.
Air bags did not deploy. I was involved in a severe car accident on highway I-64 in virginia 6 miles from richmond, va. My car was hit on the rear-left side, I was sent to the er to receive CT and other examination for head injuries following the car crash. The adjuster and police at the scene were surprised that the air bags did not deploy additional information in geico claim 0379313090101155.
The contact owned a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle independently jerked to the right and clipped a semi truck. The contact's vehicle was pulled under the semi and dragged for 100 yards. Prior to the failure, the esc and tpms indicators illuminated. The contact also noticed an abnormal burning odor. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. There were no injuries. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
While driving, I noticed a red light flickering on and off on my dashboard. I noticed that it was the driver side air bag indicator light. It now stays on constantly, whether in motion or not. Not sure what the issue is, as my airbag has never been deployed. I am afraid of it deploying while driving, but was told that it would not from one of the Hyundai dealer service reps. It will cost $112 just for a diagnosis of the problem.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while stationary at a traffic light a vehicle reversed hitting the front of the vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where they informed the contact to go to a unknown local body shop where the vehicle was repaired but not diagnosed. Air bag light stays on constantly was diagnosed as a clock spring. Was also told until fixed the air bags will not deploy.
Airbag light suddenly came on and will not go off, stays on continuslely. Car is up for inspection in a few months and will not pass a safety inspection. Have researched this online and found over 100 complaints for this problem. This is a major safety issue as if I am in an accident the airbag will not deploy. (or worse may happen).
Airbag light will not turn off once the vehicle is started. This issue caused me to fail my car inspection because it is a hazard if I was to get in an accident and the airbag does not deploy. The could lead to fatal results.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While parking the vehicle, it felt as if the brakes did not hold and, suddenly, the vehicle accelerated and crashed into a building without warning. The air bags did not deploy. The contact and the front passenger were uninjured. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
I own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata limited. A few days ago I started my vehicle and the air bag light flashed and stayed illuminated on the dash board. I turned the vehicle off and started the vehicle back up and the light stayed illuminated. My car has not been in any accidents for the airbag light to turn on. I went to carcomplaints. Com and there are 81 complaints regarding the same issue and none of the vehicles were involved in an accident. Most of the issues were the airbag coil spring needed to be replaced. If this is the case there needs to be a recall on the airbag springs. Once the airbag light is illuminated on the dashboard the airbag will not deploy. This is a huge safety issue and needs to be addressed. I spoke with a representative with Hyundai and they informed me there was nothing they could do about the issue besides take it to Hyundai and have them run a diagnostic on the vehicle and get it repaired. The representative did not seem at all concerned for me or my family safety with her response. If you could please research this information it would be greatly appreciated.
The air bag warning light remained lit after starting the vehicle. Don moore Hyundai dealership advised me that my air bag will not deploy if a front end crash were to occur but they did not have the part necessary to replace it in stock. This is the driver side airbag. The vehicle is only 5 yrs old and has been maintenanced regularly. The 2011 model is the only year that is not included in air bag recall. Safety is expected for more than 5 yrs or 60,000 miles. I was advised that the part is a coil or spring behind the airbag allowing it to deploy.
Sensor for airbag is on and I don't know why. Airbag has never deployed or tampered with.
Takata recall. . My car is not new, but it is less than 6yrs old and my airbag light is on (will not shut the fuck off either. I contact Hyundai they said it was the clock spring, which will cost me 400. 93 dollars to fix or I will possible die in a crash. I feel this should be a recall, because this is not wear and tear this is a builder mishap. . . The fat that this situation could cause death and they will not fix due to safety is fucking insane. . . I quest they will not be happy until lawsuits come in place due to airbags not deploying (because the warning light will not always come on, so you wouldn't know).
Owned car for a year now and on he 25th of August I returned to my vehicle and started it up still in park position all lights illuminated and all except the airbag light on the dash went off. I turned the car off waited a minute and tried to turn it on again and the light still stayed on it has been on ever since. The next morning I called the dealership and my main concern was that the airbags were still working but the person working told me the airbags would not deploy in the event of an accident . I am very worried this is not the only issue I have with this vehicle and I am a single mother with 2 young children anything can happen I do not feel safe in this vehicle.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While the contact was approaching a yellow traffic light, the preceding vehicle accelerated and then made a sudden stop. As a result, the contact rear ended the other vehicle while driving 55 mph. None of the air bags deployed. The contact's head struck the steering wheel upon impact. The contact sustained pain to the knees, elbows, and minor bruising. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The insurance company repaired the collision damages, but there was no investigation as to why the air bags failed to deploy. Months later, the air bag indicator illuminated and, a few days later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v152000 (seat belts). The dealer was to schedule an appointment and indicated that the contact would need to have a diagnosis prior to the recall repair. The manufacturer was later notified of the crash and recently stated that the notice was received after the crash; therefore, the contact was waiting to determine if the manufacturer would assist. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
The airbag light illuminated one day and not turn off when the car is on. The light just stays on and will not turn off - the code that came bak was faulty dba, faulty clock spring, faulty srscm - there appears to be over 100 complaints about this online and apparently this means that the airbag will not deploy if a vehicle accident occurs which is a huge safety concern. . "takata recall". The airbag light stays on after starting car. Took the car to jenkins Hyundai of leesburg FL. After about 35-45 minutes later the service man came back and said the problem is a clock spring that needs to be replaced. They said it is not under warranty and would cost us $350 to fix it. He said that if it is not fixed the airbags will not deploy during a crash. I don't understand why I have to pay to fix a part that is obviously defective. Hyundai has had many problems with airbags over the years. Takata airbags have caused many injuries and deaths because of defects. Why Hyundai even uses takata airbags is beyond me (unless they manufacture them). I am not in a financial position to fix the problem right now or buy another car. If I continue to drive the car and I am in a crash, I might not survive because of Hyundai's refusal to cover the cost of replacing a part that was more than likely defective when the car was built. There is no way that I can believe it is normal wear and tear on the part, the airbags have never been deployed. Please expedite this complaint as I am now driving a vehicle that I feel is unsafe.
The airbag light on the dashboard remains illuminated. The car was not involved in an accident prior to the light turning on. The airbags may not deploy in the event of a collision.
