general problems of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata - part 2

The air bag light will not go off. I have seen lots of complaints about this same issue.

I bought my vehicle from a local dealership a week ago. The horn and none of the features on the steering wheel work. The front panel of the steering wheel feels lose. I also smell gas often and my left muffler smokes and I sometimes smell burning rubber. Navigation does not work as it should and my xm features don't work because of a bad xm antenna (shark fin. ) there is vibration in the steering when braking. My tire pressure light blinks and then stays on. The key doesn't operate the locks sometimes.

On Friday the 13th of February while driving on a main intersection my car just stopped in the middle of the road. There was traffic on both sides of the road and of course people didn't have any patience and I was stuck and placed my blinkers on. And waited for aaa to arrive. The car was in motion and then stationary.

Dashboard cracked. Completely cracked into small pieces throughout the dashboard.

Air bag dash light is on at all times that the engine is running.

My air bag keeps getting real hot per dealer there's no recall but your air bag should not be hot.

Air bag dashboard light came on. I see there is a recall #174 for 2011 Hyundai, NHTSA campaign # 18v137000, but I don't see my car's VIN as part of the campaign.

Was driving about 30 mph when the car began accelerating without me applying pressure to the gas. I was coming to a light to make a red turn and when I applied the brakes they would not slow down my vehicle so my speed increased. The steering wheel then locked and before I knew it a car had collided with me crossing in front of me. My car was totalled.

Horn cover presses down on airbag connector causing the airbag to light to come on. This could cause the airbag to fail to inflate in a crash.

The air bag warning has become constant randomly and doesn't go away after seatbelt are buckled.

Vehicle rollover crash occurred Monday, 1/20/2020 while driving approx 45 mph after missing a curve in the road. No airbags deployed (driver, passenger, nor side) nor did the seat belts properly restrain occupants (driver nor 3 passengers).

Airbag problem error code is b1346 . It should be a recal for this issue .

Well, very simply I was merging onto a parkway and pushing down on the accelerator, car was speeding up then I noticed that it seemed like I wasn't getting any acceleration. Looked at the dashboard and saw that it seemed all the lights were on and realized that the engine had shut itself down. Pulled off to the shoulder and tried to restart it (head kind of a whirring noise), but it wouldn't start.

Acceleration problems car stop on me I got my car towed no codes or nothing showed up try to start car at shop smelled a burning smell needs new starter new starter repaired. Couple of days later I stop for a update entire engine gone will call Hyundai tomorrow I have two kids and this is horrible.

I was driving in the neighborhood near home at around 20 mph in a speed bump area. I suddenly became aware of a strong burning smell inside the car. I slowed, pulled over and realized the check engine light was blinking. Seconds later an explosive sound erupted. The passenger airbag inflated. It collided with and cracked the windshield, broke the rear-view mirror mount and threw plastic chunks around the car. Some plastic struck me. It took a few minutes for the powdery smoke to diminish. On inspection I found damage to the glove compartment door and to the dashboard on the passenger side. Nobody besides myself was in the car, fortunately. There was only a hat on the passenger seat. After taking some phone pictures I turned the car around, drove it home and parked.

Takata recall it started like 3 weeks ago sounds like the motor is knocking. Then a week ago my airbag like wont go off.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving in the rain, the contact lost control of the vehicle. She attempted to regain control, but the steering wheel would not stop shaking. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering coupler needed to be installed and the air bag was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,000.

Airbag dash light stays on.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata for my local dealership in bangor maine and the ingin ight came so the fixed is said it was a small leak. I didn't have the car for a week because work was done to it. I was told it was a trade in. Now the trasmion light is on a and a light day passage air bag is off. I haven't have the vehicle in my position for more then 4 days since March 18th 2019 when I bought it. I have been told many recalls have been on this make a model. I don't know if this vehicle has been serviced or repaired.

The vehicle has been at the dealer for more than 60 days and the manufacturer will not proceed with the repair of the safety recalls.

Takata recall. I bought my 2011 Hyundai Sonata last year in March of 2018. I was unaware of the many recalls it had, but figured the dealership wohld have notified me, which they did not. January of 2019 I had my engine replaced, which was on the recall list. Before I had brought the car in they told me they would fix all recalls. They never did. There is a recall on the "cupler" which is in the steering wheel compartment, which I was told they would fix before bringing it in. When I picked the car up it was not fixed and when I asked why not, they told me I was over the limited mileage by 1,000 miles. They now tell me I have to pay $300 for that part. Also, when checked on this website about my recalls it said they have all been repaired, which is a complete lie. Out of the 20 recalls they fixed 2. The engine and the fuel pump which was affected by the motor issue. I have dealt with them in the past, with my 2003 elantra when I needed a radiator, which I paid full price, but they never gave me a new radiator like they told me they were putting in my car. I found out when I later sold my car, years later. I feel this company is fradulent. Hyundai of watertown, CT.

I bought this car in March of 2018. They never told me about the 20 plus recalls that were never fixed. I recently had my engine replaced due to a recall. I also have about 20 recalls on this car that were not fixed. After my engine was replaced the Hyundai dealership cleared out all of my recalls as if they were fixed. They were not fixed or replaced, only the engine and fuel pump. They are telling me I have to pay out of pocket for other recalls on the car. They changed the wording to "extended warranty" when the part is on the recall list. Please look into this seeing they commited a fradulent act on me in the past on another car I bought from them.

Passenger seat belt light is on suspension engine making a rattling noise while driving.

Shifting of gears started slipping around 100k miles.

I recently was driving my vehicle �Hyundai Sonata 2011� on interstate 95 highway, and then randomly the car stopped on me while accelerating.

I have taking my car in twice to the dealership san tan hundai for recall issues once on 10/20/2017 and again on 11/08/2018 the first time I told them that my steering wheel was not working correctly and that their was a recall they told my they wanted 300. 00 to fix it even though my car was part of the recall on 11/08/18 I took in my care for recall as my eps is out and their is a recall and they said that wanted 99. 00 to inspect it and did not cre about the recall when we brought this care it had so many problems with it but we were stuck and now we cant get it fixted and im a heart patient and need this car fixted.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata' recalled engine seized while driving and was replaced by Hyundai motors America free of charge in August 2018, no one was injured. However, in less then 2 months the newly replaced engine once again seized up but this time on the freeway causing the vehicle to be hit by another driver traveling at 80 mph. The airbags, also recalled did not deploy. Fortunately, for myself, I was not driving the vehicle when the second engine seize up. The driver at 6'4 and 220 lbs suffered 10 fractured ribs, stitches in both front & back of the head as, well as, possible future back related issues. The drivers ribs and head hit the steering wheel at full force, myself at 5'7 and 145 lbs surely would have slammed my face into the steering wheel with such force, leaving little chance of survival. Hyundai motors America needs to be held accountable for replacing their faulty recalled engine with another of the same (faulty engine), failing to remedy the recalled airbags at the time of repair, removing these "death traps" off of the streets immediately, as well as, full compensation for the vehicle. Currently the other driver was found at fault for driving to fast and the vehicle has been stored and is being examined by all parties involved, insurance companies, as well as, several attorneys. I hope that this will help to ensure that this will never happen to another motorist, again. Thank you for your time. Pictures attached.

Found out I had a recall on my airbag and there's a recall on my steering column called the company and they say there's nothing they can do for me for the steering.

Front passenger side dashboard suddenly has a large crack directly above the passenger airbag.

Hyundai announced a recall in February 2018. To date there has been no communication whatsoever from Hyundai on the remedy or repair for this recall.
