The contact owned a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that various functions on the steering wheel including the horn, cruise control, and other electrical functions; all failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that a warranty had been placed on the vehicle for the clock spring which they linked to the failure. The steering wheel also began to stick soon after the diagnosis. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the dealer could not provide an appointment until months out. The contact then stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact began to pull over as the eps(electrical power steering) and several other warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. As the contact opened the door, a fellow motorist had also pulled over to alert the contact that the vehicle was on fire. Soon after exiting the vehicle, the entire vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames. The fire department quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. The contact was not injured, no other occupants were inside the vehicle, and the contact was unsure if a fire or police report was filed. Some of the grass and trees in the area had caught fire as a result of the failure. The remains of the vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was completely destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The brake lights keep going off, they have been replaced several times. The passenger airbag deployed on a stop sign and cracked the entire windshield. The steering wheel feels like it’s going to come off. Please help.
The power steering has failed to work on multiple occasions and I’m worried that it may happen during a tight manuver and possibly cause a wreck. This is very dangerous. When this power steering stops working it is way harder to turn than a car with no power at all.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly and decelerated significantly. The contact stated that she shifted into neutral (n). The contact then pulled to the side of the road and remained there for some time. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure recurred while the vehicle was being test-driven; however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The dealer also informed the contact that they would need to disassemble the steering wheel to inspect the paddle shifters. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,300.
Daughter was driving her car on interstate, doing 75, in the middle of traffic when the car would jerk and then loose power. The gas petal stopped working and the check engine light would come on. She had to make her way over to the shoulder, without causing an accident. Once car gets shut off and you wait a few minutes, you can start it and drive it home. This has happened about 4 times now. We are lucky that this hasn't caused an accident! this last time (yesterday), the check engine light stayed on and we were able to hook up the dianostic reader and it read the code for the crankshaft positioning sensor a circut. It says online that this is a common problem with that car and is very dangerous. How is this not up for a recall? my daughter is scared to drive her car.
Steering wheel has a clicking clunking sound when turning right and left a mechanic told me it is the yolk in the sterring problem and he was sure there was a recall about this.
Power steering loses power and window between speedometer and tach goes blank. Car keeps running but no power steering and cannot take out of park. Must restart the car to solve issue. Happened several times while at idle, in park. Happened once while in drive, at idle while stopped, and was able to drive forward when I discovered no power steering. Concerned it could happen while driving.
I purchased my 2012 Hyundai Sonata on 4-7-22. The car has had no mechanical work, no accidents and has less than 1000 miles. On 9-16-22 I was driving my car home and was less than five minutes away on the highway. My car began to decelerate, I attempted to stop at a red light but my car would not give me control and the brake was rock solid and would not push down. I also could not turn the car off via the start button as the car would not let me. My engine esc light came on the dashboard in red and the engine completely halted. To get to safety as I was on the highway with oncoming traffic I steered the car to the right on the ramp . I exited the vehicle as it began to smoke ,I thought it would catch fire so I moved far away and called my boyfriend for help and a tow truck to get the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to college park Hyundai 9500 baltimore Ave. , college park, MD 20740. I looked up my car and noticed there are recalls for this engine and a few other recalls as I told the dealership. The car is currently being inspected and the dealer said they would get back to me. Once the service department received the car they told me the recall most likely will not effect my vehicle. I don't believe that to be true and I was put in danger because of this engine issue with Hyundai.
Steering mechanism is loose and is failing.
Clunking in steering wheel when rocking left and right. Plastic steering wheel coupler worn. You need a recall on this!.
While driving and turning the steering wheel there is a knocking sound. The driver seat belt does not lock when hitting brakes and is loose. The passenger window on one side does not go down. The airbag signal stays on.
The eps just came on when I crunk my car up yesterday evening. The seatvelt light been on about a week now.
Car has been experiencing clumking noise since 2018. Vehicle would stall all of a sudden. Dealership checked it out and they failed to find anything wrong. On 6/23 I was on the fast lane of the freeway and car stalled and engine light was continuously blinking on and off. Cyclic knocking noise, rpm would not elevate from 1 car just stalled while in motion I almost got hit by other vehicles. Was able to pull car to the side. While engine light continued blinking. Going up hill it lost power as well. I was driving vehicle with my grandkids in the back seat. I feared for all of our lives. Sending pictures and I have a video as well.
Steering wheel couplet is broken causing the steering wheel to make a clanking noise when driving or going over little bumps on the road. It also makes the steering wheel and I believe tires make clanking noise when making a turn or pulling out of a driveway.
While making a right turn on a residential street, the steering wheel locked causing me to hit the only parked car that was 20 ft from the corner.
Steering wheel clicks constantly and drive shaft giggles and makes loud clucking noises, especially on rough terrain it feels like the steering wheel is going to snap and I loose all steering and control of vehicle. I went to get it fixed and the mechanic stated he couldn't due to the severity of it.
Tl- the contact owns an 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 55mph the vehicle began to jerk and stalled. The engine, oil, and the transmission temperature light illuminated on the dash panel. The contact stated she pulled the vehicle over and observed white smoke from the hood; she also smelled an burning plastic odor. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer for a diagnostic test or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated a manager is going to give her a call in 48hiours. Eps light came on while I was driving and now the steering wheel lock up on me now I cantsei.
The steering wheel makes a clicking sound when turning left and right. It gets worse as you accelerate in speed. Feels like the steering wheel is going to fall off. When the vehicle is stationary you can turn the wheel left or right and still hear the clicking sound.
Steering wheel started "sticking" as your going strait. It is noticeable at slow speeds and dangerous at high speeds where it is easy to over-correct steering. Been reading reviews of common user complaints but do not see any recalls as of yet. Opened case with Hyundai motor America case#: 16870224 - was asked to go to dealer to have checked out.
When turning steering wheel it makes a clicking noise, left & right.
The steering wheel clicks to the left and right, when steering. It's a rattling metal clicking sound. Car seems to steer, but the noise is worrisome. I can be driving and when I move steering wheel, it clicks and while driving or parked. It clicks with movement of steering wheel. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
There is a knock in the in the steering wheel and when I hit a bump its sounds like something is lose the problem is getting worse. It happens when I drive or when im sitting still if you turn the steering wheel it knocks.
I was driving down the street and my 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2. 0t limited the instrument cluster illuminated and the power steering was no longer working. I immediately pulled over because the car started to slow down while pressing on the accelerator and before I stopped all the lights on the panel were out. I put the car in park and tried to cut it off with the push stop button and it would not cut off. Then I called road side assistance and before I ended the call the engine cut off without pressing the engine stop button. If I was on the highway or in a busy area the could have ended in a fatality. Why are there no recalls for this?.
Clunking when turning to the left. Clunking when stationary and turning the wheel to the left.
When I was driving down the road my car would just stop working in the middle of the highway. The engine would just stop. We nearly got on a accident because of it. I have no picture die to it sitting at the shop now for 3 weeks. My husband risks losing his job cause of the engine going out on our 2012 Hyundai Sonata. And it could possibly get repossessed. Then we couldnt drive it anymore. It wont crank or turn over at all. It would it up alot of oil just in one month and we had trouble with the windows wouldnt go down and the locks wouldnt lock. Had alot of electrical problems. Thats our only car to get to and from work, now we have nothing cause we cant afford to get it fixed. No one will help us with this recall on this viechle. We will lose our car if the recall on this car/engine and etc that is recalled on this viechle. Can you please help.
While driving at almost any speed, as long as it is in a fairly straight line, the steering has a catch in it when you try to ease the car to the right or the left. It feels like it is stuck in a rut and you have to turn harder than expected to break it out of that rut. This causes instances of oversteering. This can't be safe at all!!.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the steering wheel while turing, without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The mechanic linked the failure to two unknown technical service bulletins. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Steering where makes loud clicking noise when turned left and right. Also, when going over bumps, sounds like the entire underneath is about to fall out. My mechanic says it is the coupler and he believes there is a recall on it. However, when I look it up, says that the 2011 and 2013 were recalled, but not the 2012. The warranty was extended on this year's model. Also, the dealership is saying that it is safe to drive. I do not feel safe when driving it; I would like to get it repaired, but do not feel that I should be paying for something that Hyundai knows is a defect.
When turning the wheel right or left there is a clicking noise. When going over even a small bump there is a clicking noise the car also veers slightly. This can not be safe and Hyundai should really look into this and fix it with a recall.
Makes an unknown clicking noise when I twist the wheel.
When turning the steering wheel left there is a clicking noise if I go over any bumps the steering rattles and shakes.
My steering is cluncking when I turn my wheel. I brought my car in for 2 recalls and I assumed this would be on the recall list as well. The hyundia dealership that I brought the car to said that this was under warranty but I have exceded the manufacutrers warranty to cover this and it would cost me almost 300. 00 to fix it myself. I know this is a common problem for this vehicle since my son is a mechanic and has told me of several that they have replaced. I would hope that Hyundai would fix the problem for me since I have had this car for 7 years and no compalints. If they don't want to fix this problem I will just trade the vehicle in for a manufacturer that will take care of problems when they happen.
I took it to the shop and they said it may be wheel alignment or ball point when steering. I took it for a 2nd opinion, and the same thing was stated. I called my insurance geico, and they told me ther was a recall.
My Hyundai Sonata se 2012 steering wheel recently started shaking once I hit 65 mph. It's doing it on and off, but at times it sound scary like it's going to fly off.
