My right brake lights are always going out. I'm always changing it and a few weeks later it will go out again. I've brought it to the shop (allen Hyundai, gulfport, ms) and I got my brake lamp stopper replaced and he said my lights should work fine. I originally brought it in because my 3rd brake light would stay on while I'm driving and it would cause me to not be able to accelerate while driving. It goes now, but seems like it has trouble catching speed. I've spoke to other Sonata owners and they too have problems with their right brake light going out. It's a hazard and it also can give us tickets from the police. Please have this looked in to.

13 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

We have replaced the back brake light bulbs multiple times. Now the back right rear break light isn't working right. We took it to Hyundai and they said it was melted and the part we need to replace the wiring harness and just the part is over 400. 00. I am not spending 400. 00 on something that seems to be a manufacturer issue!! how has Hyundai not submitted a recall for this? there seems to be plenty of complaints about it.

14 Brake Light problem

All exterior lights on the car are continuously having to be replaced. Drivers side brake light caught fire and melted the assembly. 15 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

I have had to change the brake light and taillight bulbs every 2 or 3 months since I bought it in 2016. One of my lights is out again. I could not find a recall on it. I have spoken with other Hyundai Sonata owners and they are having the same issue. The housing is melting as well, making it most difficult to remove the bulbs. Not having brake lights is definitely a safety issue and hazard. The cost should not be on the owner as this has become a multiple, multiple vehicle problem. I cannot go through inspection with no brake lights and can get tickets while driving. This issue needs immediate attention and relief.

16 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2019

Hyundai is not going to do anything about hundreds to thousands of people having problems with brake light assemblies melting. I am about to file a class action lawsuit. I am concerned that me or my kids are going to be killed due to this. These bulbs have been replaced hundreds of times. They are blaming it on using bulbs that are not purchased from the dealership and that is ridiculous.

This is the second time the bulb in the back brake light melted into the socket and I've changed the bulb on the passenger side multiples times just this year. 22 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

This car's left-rear brake light always has some problem, it burns out very often. Recently, I found that the plastic bulb holder was burned and melted too. I have read from the internet, the Hyundai 2013 Sonatas have the same common problems, not just my car has it. The brake light may burn out very often, I am afraid that I may get police ticket because of the brake light problem, and if some other vehicle hit my car in the back, the consequence will be hard. I know that Hyundai will recall certain model year 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles manufactured between Dec. 11, 2009 and June 30, 2011, according to a letter the NHTSA sent Hyundai. My car is 2013 Sonata, can I expect a recall from Hyundai to fix my car's brake light problem?.

23 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2019

My brake lights are blowing out every 2-3 months. I attempt to change them as soon as I'm notified by police or a bystander. I was told that both of my brake lights were out 4/8/2019 while driving on a main street. I went to inspect and both bulbs were completely fried with a jelly substance on there. "takata recall". I have had to change the burnt out brake light bulb 5 times since 2017. The lights have gone out while driving the vehicle and when stationary. The light socket has melted. Im frustrated because this will make the 4th bulb I've purchased for my car. Seems like every month for the past 3 years I've been buying brake lights. I took my car into Hyundai dealership in gainesville and the told me the socket melted causing the light to blow. I shouldn't be responsible for the cost because it's a malfunction with the lighting.

29 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2019

I have a problem with my exterior lights constantly burning out. Brake light was out, I was notified when I was pulled over for a traffic stop. I changed the light bulb that same day, and two days later the bulb was burnt out again. I changed the bulb thinking it was a bad bulb, and the same thing happened about a week later. I was told at Hyundai service department that it was a wiring issue, and they fixed it. However, a month later, my bulb is out again, plus my two license plate bulbs, and a taillight. I again fixed all lights, and to no surprise, passenger side brake light is out once again. Also, my headlights were just replaced the same time because they seemed dim. Brand new, supposedly brighter bulbs, look exactly the same as the old dim lights. I cannot see at night unless I use my high beams. This is a very big safety issue. I have read several other people having the same problem, but still no recall has been put out about this issue.

30 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2019

Brake lights have gone out monthly since 2017. The light sockets have melted to the actual bulbs. The center brake light stays on sometimes while driving. There is a concern that this is a fire hazard and my 10 & 12 year old's are in the back seat. Last week while driving approx. 45mph the vehicle decelerated while pressing gas and would not increase speed until I let off the gas and the gas again. This has happened many times. It concerns me that this may cause an accident when traveling at a high rate of speed.

I've been complaining about hearing knocking noises and my lights coming on while driving but whenever I took it to the dealership of course the car never made the noises. 35 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

I have a 2013 Sonata and the brake light got so hot it melted the casing. When I tried to replace it the casing had swollen so large that the bulb fit back into the casing. The bulb also melted to each socket on each side of the car. I have replaced these bulbs on the right side more than 15 times and now on the left side its so swollen that I cannot put the bulb back in. This is a hazzard>.
