This is our daughter's car. Yesterday (Nov 1) her car stalled, with the warning "hybrid system warning! safely stop and do not drive". This time she was parked in a parking lot and the warning message came on when she tried to start the vehicle. This is not the first time it's happened. On previous occasions the dealer's technicians did not even record anything in her maintenance records. She understands this is not an unusual problem, with many Hyundai hybrid owners of that same 2015 model year, as well as other years, reporting similar problems. Is this something that is being looked into? the dealer personnel just sort of dismiss this as no big deal.
The car stalled while on the road while driving to leave san antonio. The car left in san antonio to be fixed for 30 days. Returned to san antonio Hyundai replaced the engine due to a faulty engine. Metal flakes found inside engine. I am now being told I need a transmission less than 1 month after the engine replacement. Hyundai not honoring their powertrain warranty.

Stalling, car stops running while the car is in motion or about to take off. This has happened more than once. The car was checked by the dealer, dealer said they found nothing wrong.
Vehicle stalled out / wouldn't restart / had to tow to dealer / has gas / was told motor locked up and not sure why?.
Around 25000 miles, after start, strong engine vibration with no power - about to stall. Dealer changed variable charge motor after 5 occurrence of similar situation. After few months at 29000 miles, 2015 Sonata se (2. 4l 4 cylinder engine) lost power and stalled in the middle of city street, while driving. Could have caused big accident if I was on highway. Car was unable to restart. Towed to dealer and replaced accelerator position sensor. Could be related to issue with 2011-2014 Sonata engine recall since my 2015 Sonata uses almost same theta-ii engine.

My vehicle is stalling out while driving it I took it to the Hyundai dealership and they said they could not find anything wrong with my car. This has happened three (3) times two of which my 11year old child was a passenger in my car. It happens at random sometimes the car starts shaking then seems to loose power or die down then picks back up or the worst stalls completely! no one can tell me what's wrong or help me the Hyundai dealership tells me that until something happens or the computer reads something they can't help me! I have witnesses who have also experienced it while driving my car aside from the three times I have experienced it myself.
Stalled out while stopped in parking lot while in drive. Very dangerous if this were to happen anywhere else.
Tl the contact owned a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and smoke and flames were present coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A fire report was filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
Vehicle stalls. Randomly. Acceleration stalls randomly. Engine dies parked randomly. Seems so decelerate/brake/. Drag while driving. Recall o comport n program only. Warranty for original owner only. Recalled made in. 2011-2014 Sonata my 2015 Sonata sport has the same engine.
The vehicle at time has no power or feel likes it wants to stall out in the middle of the road. When driving seems like it doesnt want to shift gears and loss of acceleration. I took my car to Hyundai in plantation Hyundai. After they did a fuel induction and change a bad spark plug, problem still exist. ,been the dealer plenty of times cant find the problem. This is a safty issue for Hyundai. ,Hyundai doesnt want to own up for their defects.
Whenever I come to a complete stop while my vehicle is in drive, the rpm's idle at a dangerously low level that upon releasing the brakes in order to drive again, the vehicle sputters and struggles to take off. A couple of times the vehicle has actually stalled out while sitting at an intersection while trying to drive. The only way I have been able to find a fix to this problem is by keeping the air conditioning on which appears to make the vehicle rpm's run a little higher in turn not allowing the vehicle to get to dangerously low rpms. As far as I can tell there are no recalls out there pertaining to this while other individuals appear to be experiencing the same thing. Dealership states that it is normal. I purchased this vehicle about 2 months ago so I am not sure if this was a common occurrence with the prior owner. Seems like if Hyundai were to increase the rpms while it is in an idle state (in drive) then this would not happen.
While driving the car started to putter and then stalled while on the way to work. The vehicle engine is shot I am told by the mechanic I have used for 10 years now. Called the dealership about the issue and was advised I could have it towed in at my expense and have them look at it at my expense since the car is out of warranty. The dealership I am sure will say it is not due to faulty parts or any error on their part and I will have to have the vehicle towed again so $120 for towing and 79. 99 plus tax for their assessment of the vehicle just to be told it is not their problem but I don't have much other choice.
Theta ii 4 cylinder 2,4l engine 2015 Hyundai Sonata sport. Car started shaking and then stalled in the middle of a city street. This could have been on the freeway and caused a crash. The car smelt like something was burning, I had it towed to momentum Hyundai fairfield, CA. They are saying nothing is wrong with the car.
Purchased 2015 Sonata for son. Sonata started stalling out at low rpm, idling very rough. When it unexpectedly stalls out, very dangerous to brake, steer. Took it to 2 Hyundai dealers, both said car needs engine replaced, neither could tell me exactly why. Said engine is all gunky. First dealer said it was due to metal shavings in oil. Second dealer tried to blame us for poor maintenance, even though we have service records. Car has 80,000 miles. Paid $19,382 16 months ago, $5800 remains on loan and car is worthless. $8000 to replace engine. I am 2nd owner. Purchase from enterprise car sales, with 60,000 mile warranty. Also purchased extended warranty, but at 80,000 miles, we are over. I have owned 4 camrys and 2 accords in my life. All have run and been sold at around 200,000 miles. Big mistake to trust Hyundai. Many recalls on Sonata engines 2011-14, but no engine recall on 2015. . . Yet.

Rancho grande motors of san luis obispo, California was made aware of the issue, but could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Car hesitates almost stalls from a stopped position. Almost caused someone to rear end me.
Shortly after exiting interstate and slowdown for signal, I attempted to accelerate and the vehicle was totally unresponsive, like I wasn't even giving it gas. I have had it serviced twice and towed once for stalling while driving, shuddering, sputtering. Took waiting and numerous attempts to get it restarted. The second time, the dealer kept it for a week in October and could not find anything. (this is my second complaint as I want all this documented). Doesn't mean it doesn't exist. They replaced the fuel pump. I just drove it back from out of town this weekend (300 miles) and I noticed the acceleration was quite sluggish especially when trying to accelerate to pass. It was like the passing gear would not engage. Afraid my car would just stall again, I did not pursue heavy acceleration or passing gear attempts any further. Then this happened today. I feel there is something definitely wrong with this vehicle, and that every time I drive it, I am at some kind of risk. Saw some other complaints about ecm. The problem needs to be identified and corrected; this is definitely a safety issue, especially at high speeds or heavy traffic. There is definitely something wrong here.
I got my car with 15 miles on it, before I even had 10 thoursand miles the car had a transmission heat up. Took it to the dealer they run a test nothing was found. A week later same thing happen, now the car is at 31 thoursand miles im so scared driving the car stalling like a manual car everytime I accelerate. The car keep on vibrating hard at 40-up mph.
Bought this car brand new and at 20,000 miles it all started to go down hill. My car shakes & stalls hesitates bad loss of power almost causing accidents on a daily basis. I have brought it to the dealer 5 times for the same complaint even left it there for 9 days still not fixed I have a $398 payment for a car I am afraid to drive. I will not put my children in the car I am that afraid of getting in an accident. Hyundai does nothing no one can fix it & everyone has the same complaint I do all over the internet. These cars need to be taken off the road before someone gets killed!!! I pay for a car that I keep parked thats insane!!! my car is unsafe and a road hazard and no one is doing anything for any of these people that have the same problem as me. I have even brought video footage to Hyundai and they just update my computers which makes is worse half the time.
The contact owned a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and smoke started to emit from underneath the hood and the air conditioning vents. The vehicle was pulled to the side and the contact quickly jumped out of the vehicle just before the engine compartment exploded and the hood flew open. The contact stated that the fire department came to the scene and extinguished the fire. A police report was filed but there was no fire report. The contact stated that there were no injuries. The remains of the vehicle was towed to a junk yard. The failure mileage was 27,000.
With only 27,000 miles, the car stalled at an intersection without any warning on a June day in 2016 in texas. Towed to dealership for warranty repair. Warranty company declined the repair, claiming "customer maintenance issue". Warranty company refused repair after looking only at photographs of the engine. Warranty company didn't request, and dealership refused to even accept owners maintenance records. After the repair was declined, I researched the problem and found out about recall for previous model years 2011-2014. That recall was a response to similar failures and customer's similar complaints about warranty company automatically claiming "customer maintenance issue". Dealership shared with me their communications with the warranty company which asked only for photos of the problem. How can the cause of the failure be determined by photographs of the engine when the previous four model years used the same exact engine model resulting in major recalls? also, how can the warranty company refuse to see maintenance records and then blame owner's for the failure? clearly the company is executing a nationwide policy of declining repairs even when they are covered by the warranty. How many similar failures were covered by the warranty?.
Vehicle has bad hesitation since 20,000 miles stalls, loss of power at times step on the gas pedal and car doesn't move, afraid to drive a new car that I pay for is crazy but afraid to get in an accident so I do not drive it. Hyundai keeps giving me the run around that the computer updates will fix this transmission problem but I have had 3 updates and it keeps getting worse and no one will do anything about it except take my money. These 7 speed dual clutch transmission have real issues serious issues that an cause a death if they lose power and get in an accident someone is going to get killed!!! the 7 speed dual clutch is not engaging in the 1st and 2nd gear and it causes the hesitation and stalling that all these cars are having and Hyundai knows it is a hugh issue so they did'nt put this transmission in the new cars they went back to the 6 speed shiftronic which was better. . . But leaves the people who bought these horrible models left in the dirt these cars need a recall ASAP I will not drive mine nor will I put my child in it thats said I pay for a car to sit in my driveway and no one wants to help any of us!!!!! I see thousands with the same issue as mine its not fair.
On may 30, 2016 at around 9 pm I stopped my 2015 Hyundai Sonata at a traffic light and without warning the engine died. I was almost rear ended when the light changed to green. No warning lights came on until the engine died. After about two minutes I was able to restart the car. I turned left at the intersection where my car had stalled and in the middle of the intersection the engine died again. I thought I was going to die. Exited the car and waved traffic by. Two more minutes and the engine started again and I was able to drive the three remaining blocks to my home. I had the car towed to ourisman Hyundai where I bought it. They have had it ever since. Today, June 6, ourisman called and said they could not duplicate the problem and I should return the loaner car and pick up my Sonata. I will not pick up a Sonata that dies in the middle of driving. I would like to live. I called Hyundai America and reported the issue and they open d a case file. I have left messages with the gm at ourisman and he has not returned my calls. Oh, I forgot to mention that when I bought the car (it was a year old) I told the salesman that I did not want a hertz, avis or any other rental car. He assured me it was not purchased from a car rental company. After over 5 hours at the dealership, I was told it had been from a rental company. I was worn out and thought it still had four years left on the warranty. I feel like a fool. I have asked Hyundai America to buy my car back.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. While exiting the vehicle at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be pulled over to the side of the road, but could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
Engine ceases and all the lights on the dash board flash and stay on and the car stalls. This happened for the 5th time yesterday on rt 78. I almost coursed a collusion because my car lost power and stalled on the highway. I managed to move over to the shoulder as quick I could. After a few minutes later the engine started. This happens both when the car is parked and in motion. This is very dangerous. Have taken the car back to the dealership and they say they fixed the problem but it keeps happening . I have google this problem and found other owners experiencing the same problem. I think the should have a recall for this engine to get it fixed.
On 04/06/2016, the vehicle's engine began to run rough and hesitated. Lack of acceleration, even at 4000 rpms (top speed 20 mph at 4000 rpms). The vehicle began to stall and required the gas pedal to be pressed due to low rpms at idle. The problem is intermittent, with no warning to the operator, and poses a significant safety risk on roadways with speed limits above 40 mph. No engine warning light came on to warn the operator. After three occurrences of this problem, in less than 24 hours, the vehicle, with only 1,351 miles on the odometer, was taken to dealership for service on 4/7/2015. After replacing, the fuel pump, the vehicle was returned to the owner on 04/10/2015. Less than 2 miles after picking the vehicle up from service, the problem occurred again, on a 50 mph roadway. The operator was very concerned for her safety as other motorists were swerving around the vehicle and honking their horns. Again, no engine warning lights came on to warn the operator. Once again, the vehicle was taken back to the dealership within 20 minutes of initial pick-up, for further repairs. The dealership has had the vehicle ever since, changing multiple parts dealing wit the fuel systems, and has yet to correct the problem to date (04/16/2015).
