I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine lost power and my speed dropped to 20 mph. I could not go any faster. Other cars were honking at me and almost hit me as I try to get to the shoulder of the road. The check engine light came on and I had the car towed to Hyundai of duluth GA. They scanned it and said it was code p1326 knock sensor detection. There is a NHTSA service campaign for this- https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10154682-9999. Pdf (TSB #19-01-006h. The problem is Hyundai dealer does not have a fix because they said corporate diagnostic equipment is not working. They have had my car for 5 days now. They do not have any loaner vehicle while my car is inoperable. My complaint is they should have loan cars or pay for rental cars for customers with this problem. I demand they fix my car soon or give me a rental car to drive to work.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2019

Engine knocking, checked the oil and it was fine. Drove it straight home which was about three miles. The next day I was driving it to work and the knocking was getting louder and louder, pulled over, checked the oil and it was sludge. Took it to grease monkey, which was directly across the street from where I was. They changed the oil and put an engine cleaner through it. Still the same. They took a look at it and said that the engine is seizing. I always maintained the car and no warning lights ever came on until after the oil change, then the check engine light came on. Mileage around 113,000 when this happened.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

While attempting to merge onto interstate 85 in atlanta, the car hesitated and would not accelerate. At the same time, an alarm began to chime and once I avoided a collision, I noticed a flashing engine symbol on the dash. At this critical time I was "lucky" to have not been involved in a fatal car accident. The car limped to the autozone and p01326 was discovered. The az employee and the longtime manager said they were surprised when the code did not pull up any info in the database. I researched the internet and found some information and the 2 minute Hyundai video on the bearings, catastrophic engine failure, potential fire and the knock sensor. Southtowne Hyundai said it was a wiring problem and reset the code. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and the representative said yes but within 5 miles of leaving the dealership, the check engine light came back on. I have sent several emails to the se regional manager, steve flood, and southtowne's gm, charlie simmons, but they have not replied. Their underlings have. I have lost faith in the vehicle and believe it (and other Hyundai cars) is unsafe.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2019

I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 24k miles. The check engine light came on and was flashing as I pulled into a parking lot for my daughter to pickup her car. The garage owner said to pull in my car. The diagnostic read out was p2600 obs-ll. Upon researching it the code said, coolant pump "a" control circuit?open. They provided me with the print out. They said try to drive it. I did & drove maybe 300 feet & it would not accelralte above 15 mph. I turned around took it back to the garage's lot. The next day I called Hyundai roadside assist to have it towed to superior Hyundai south, where I purchased the car. This occurred Thursday January 17th. The car is still at superior Hyundai waiting word from Hyundai motors. Dave the service manager said it either needs a wire harness or an engine. Not sure the relationship. Seems to me they should put on the wire harness, if that doesn't fix it replace the engine.

9 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

Purchased car and have had 3 recalls already. Car has need at dealership for a month now and they are unable to update when it will be available and what will be done to it. Also I checked the VIN number on VIN check pro and it show the car as branded on 1/30/2017 in texas as salvage. It also shows branded on 04/25/2017 in texas as junk. They Hyundai corporate office says they do show this on thier records. Could you please help because at this point I do not feel the car is safe for my daughter to drive. After the last recall was complete , the first time the car was driven the check engine light started flashing and the car had little power. It has been a t the dealership since then.

10 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2018

I cranked the car in my driveway and it was shaking a little, which I thought was strange and when reversed and started to drive the check engine light came on and then the car died. It had 59156 miles on it at that time. Hyundai towed it to the dealer for me and they said they could not get any error codes or see anything that was wrong with it. . They said bring it back if there are more issues. Hyundai kept the car for more than a week to see what was wrong. .

11 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2018

While merging onto a freeway the vehicle stopped accelerating and simply revved as if in neutral. I released gas and attempted to accelerate again with to result. I drove onto shoulder to avoid a rear end collision, shut the vehicle off, and attempted to drive again with a positive result. Shortly thereafter while driving on the freeway attempting to change lanes there was yet another failure to accelerate and the same issue occurred, a full rpm rev with no acceleration. The check engine light finally came on. I contacted the dealer with the error code that a code reader revealed and was requested my VIN. They then claimed that there is a recall and was told to come see a specific service agent. Nhysa website reveals no recalls for my vehicle. The issue is the variable charge motion actuator. I am fearing that Hyundai is remedying the issue in case by case basis and calling it a recall to avoid penalty.

12 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2018

1/14/18 upon entering a 4 lane major road from a store parking lot, my 2015 Sonata would not accelerate. I let off and pushed the accelerator pedal, no response though the rpm's were revving. The check engine light came on. I pulled over, shut the car off, and restarted the car. The car seemed to accelerate ok after some initial hesitation. However, the engine light is still on and the car is accelerating up to 11 mph, in drive and reverse, on its own when the brake is released (no use of accelerator pedal). In addition, when in drive, the car lurches forward reaching a speed of about 5 mph as soon as the break is released. I see recalls for these engine issues on 2011-2012 models. Appears issue not resolved with engine recalls showing for mode years 2013-2014, it seems the engine issues are still not resolved for 2015. My car has less than 45,000 miles and has been serviced at the Hyundai dealership I purchased the car new every 3000 miles until my oil change time before last. The next service sticker was for a 5000 mile interval and when I questioned this, I was told the dealership was using a higher performance oil that didn't require changing prior to 5000 miles. I had the next oil change done at about 4000 miles. I am concerned I will be told there is nothing wrong with my car, my engine is going to seize, and I will be stuck with this repair expense.

13 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2017

Cylinder one misfire causing vehicle to loose power while driving, significant shaking of vehicle. Vehicle had minimal acceleration. Check engine light flashing, remained illuminated when vehicle was safely maneuvered to highway shoulder. Required new spark plug and coil. Vehicle only has approximately 41,000 miles.

14 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2017

I was on a city street approaching a red light, as I was coming to a stop my car's engine shut off without warning. Oil light, check engine light, and battery light were illuminated. I put my hazards on, put the car in park and attempted to re-start the car with no luck. Car did not make any turning over sounds when trying to re-start. Dashboard lights, radio, powers windows still worked. I called roadside assistance and waited in my car blocking one lane of traffic. After about 10 minutes a passerby pushed my car to the side of the road, at this time I noticed it was very hard to steer and the brakes started to lock up. I put the car in park and waited for the tow truck. While waiting I made several attempts to re-start the car. After about 30 minutes the car restarted and I was able to drive the 3 blocks home. The following morning I had the car towed to the dealership. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. They could not recreate the issue and no error codes showed up. There were also no error coeds in the log but if the engine shut down it seems like something should be in the log. I'm extremely nervous to drive thinking this can happen again in a more dire situation (like on the freeway). I see other complaints online with this same situation and am concerned for mine and my passengers' safety.

White driving either in motion or stopped behind a light, engine starts to shake and stall. This make the car share heavily and nudge forwards and backwards until the call stalls out. Then the dash gets lit up with all the check engine lights. Then, pressing the start button multiple times until the vehicles starts. The car does this every so often. You drive off, it shakes and stalls, it has a hard time starting. Then it starts and everything seems normal. This happens at least 1 or 2 times a month. 17 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2016

Me and my wife were driving to southern California on a road trip. When accelerating uphill, the transmission downshifted to above 3,500 rpm's. Immediately the fuel cutoff and the car would not accelerate. I tried several times but noticed the car would not accelerate past 3,500 rpm's. I immediately went to manual mode and selected a gear that was below 3,500 to make it up the "grapevine" hill. Soon after the check engine light came on. I went to the dealer the next day and they said it was the vcm motor- code p0200a. It was replaced under warranty. The dealer service was great. We were lucky this malfunction didn't happen when my wife was driving alone and needed to pass another vehicle or drive uphill. She would not have been able to accelerate.

18 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

Faulty engine control module - while driving home from vacation, after approximately 9 hours on the highway, our check engine light came on in our 2015 Sonata. We were only two hours away from home and the light wasn't flashing, so we continued driving. While on an acceleration ramp changing highways, the car sputtered and seemed to be losing power, even with the gas pedal completely floored. Thankfully, the engine didn't shut off and we were able to continue driving, however, the engine seemed to "mis-fire" and the car was hesitating and riding rough. The next day, the check engine light went off. A few days later, it came back on, and while trying to gain enough speed to get on the highway, the engine felt like it was cutting out and began to ride rough again. I immediately called Hyundai to make an appointment to have the car looked at. When I made the appointment, the scheduler indicated there was a recall on my car. I asked if it had anything to do with the check engine light being on, and I was told it didn't. I took the car in, and after 2 or 3 hours they called and said my car was ready and they had replaced a faulty ecm (engine control module), which had caused the check engine light to come on. No mention was made of the recall. After reading all the posts on this site, I am convinced the problems people are having with their engines dying is the result of a faulty ecm. I have searched everywhere on the internet about Hyundai recalling vehicles that could be affected, and I could find absolutely nothing. We never received a recall notice by mail or email either. Symptoms of a bad or failing ecm include the check engine light coming on, engine stalling, misfire or performance issues. Shame on Hyundai for not protecting their customers against a potentially life-threatening hazard as this.

22 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2015

I purchased new '15 Sonata, my 8th one, but I have not nothing but problems with it. This dealership did all maintenance & repairs & had car a total of 7 times for the same complaint of the car bucking, like it is hard to shift into the next gear. I was told it was a computer part & it had been replaced, yet the problem continued, other times I was told there nothing could be detected as wrong. My 7th trip, the dealership kept it for 6-7 weeks when they determined the transmission clutch was defective, then they lost the new transmission, before finally fixed it. I drive 100 miles daily to & from work am fearful that something would be wrong. I was almost rear ended by a far away 18 wheeler when the car would not forward. I reported all of this to the dealership. I requested to speak with general manager at least 3 times & was always told he was out, the last time I saw him leave after saying he was not there. So, after the transmission was fixed in February. I called corporate & was told this is the way this vehicle drives as it has a semi-automatic transmission. I am driving a rental with same engine & does not behave like my mine. Within a few days, the car began stalling when trying to excel and the check engine light came on. On the interstate, we slowed down and again it would not go forward. I brought it to another dealership & it has been in the shop for two weeks (March 25th) & they cannot figure out the problem. Corporate offered me $500. 00 in free service due to it the problems. I do not think that is compensation. Corp has agreed to buy car back approx. 2-3 wks ago due to continued problems. I was told the entire process would take 6-8 weeks. I have emailed/called since it is in the shop to expedite the process without response.

23 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2015

This is the second 2015 Hyundai Sonata which had computer problems. The first one purchased in July 2014, Hyundai took it back in Dec 2014 because of the computer problems. The second picked up in Dec 2014 currently has approximately 2900miles with the same basic computer issues. Both vehicles when travelling from about 40 to 65mph the engine's computer system would cut the speed down and lose compression to approximately 20mph to protect the vehicle from some kind of engine damage. You would be forced to get off the road and shut the vehicle off. Once the engine was off 5 minutes the engine would start up, the check engine/anti skid lights would stay on so that the dealership could see what codes were causing the problem. The first vehicle was assigned a case# by Hyundai -case# 6788232 and was finally taken back by Hyundai in Dec 2014 after being out of service for well over 35 days due to the continued computer problems. The replacement vehicle recently had 3 incidents while travelling at approx. 65mph the engine would go to 20mph without warning. The only exception was that when I restarted the vehicle the check engine light would remain on until I turned off the vehicle. When I restarted the vehicle the check engine light went off leaving me in a difficult position when bringing the vehicle in for service, the computer didn't store the event to verify the problem. The dealer said if it occurs again to let them know and they would contact their technical hotline. The service dept knows there is a problem since they went through this with me on the first vehicle, that's why they took the vehicle back. I established a new case file 7799545 on 4/16/2015 with Hyundai consumer affairs.

24 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

At 11:38 am, car suddenly lost power while in middle of intersection, all the symbols on the dashboard lit up, pushing on throttle had absolutely no effect on cars movement. Car would go forward at idle speed only. Received a message on navigation screen and an email saying ?a possible condition with your engine control system has been detected. Hyundai recommends a full system check soon. To schedule an appointment with a Hyundai dealer, say service link when asked to say the name of a service. Pulled to side of road, turned off engine. Restarted engine, only check engine light was on, but acceleration still rough.
