Air Conditioner Problems of Hyundai Sonata

Air conditioning drain drips onto front sub frame, which holds the engine and transmission. It also holds the suspension bolts. Dripping from air conditioning drain is causing sub frame to rust, rot out and weaken prematurely. This will cause the engine and transmission to drop out of the vehicle when the sub frame collapses.

Started car knocking noise sounded like coming from near steering wheel after further investigation coming from air condition. Did it for 15 seconds and then stopped. If the defrost is on is when it makes the knocking noise and the level is on 3. It was only making the noise when I started the car but now if I change to the ac or heat it starts the knocking noise.

I was driving my car home from work and all of a sudden my car jerked and the rpm guage went to zero and the air conditioner stopped and the loss of traction light came on upon killing the car and restarting it it drove fine with no problem. Took it to dealer to inspect and to check and fix recalls and was told that they changed the oil for the recall on my vehichle and they could not find anything wrong with car since it was not acting up at that time. Week later it done it again and took to dealership to check and was told it came with code for crankshaft sensor and 10 minutes later was told that was not the problem it was a faulty ecm and replaced it. A week later done the exact same thing and they could not find anything wrong after keeping it for a month. Took the car to another auto mechanic and was told they could not figure out what was wrong with car unless it was acting up. Now here I am driving a car that will act up occasionally and now it seems that it getting worse when I stopped and started up a hill it sounded like metal on metal clanging and have very suspicious feeling it has something to do with the gdi engine recall but cant get anyone to figure out what it is since it's so hard to drive a car acting up in city limits when it does not want to go unless you got the gas pedal to the floor. Unsure if it is recall or something else and dealership dont know how to fix.

My air conditioner ceased to function. A month and a half later the car ceased to start. I had to call for a tow. The air condition compressor froze the engine so that the car wouldn't start.

It all started with 3 bad alternators. The alternator was replaced 3 times in 2 years all brand new alternators. In those 2 years the car had trouble starting in interments. Turning the key 5-6 times the car will eventually start. Recently the car's headlights, air conditioning, and radio turn off when the car is slowing by applying the brake. Computer prompted no code for a problem. I have read about these same issues with the same make, model, and year. What is the malfunction?.

On multiple occasions my vehicle has been serviced by a Hyundai dealership in south florida. After "repairing" the air bag signal, it has reappeared on at least four trips to the dealer. After multiple repair (including the replacement of the cables) the following issues still occur; 1) the oil indicator lights and the tachometer lights go on and off periodically, 2) the air conditioner goes off, the comes back again in few minutes, 3) the low air light comes for my tires, 4) engine light, and 5) speedometer indicator went up and down with the vehicle traveling at the same speed. The vehicle is close to 76,000 miles. The above indicated events occurred primarily while driving in city streets. However, some of them were experienced in highway traffic.

Dual air conditioning does not operate correctly. Dealers explanation is that is was designed that way and since "it is operating as designed", there is nothing they can do. I filed a formal complaint with Hyundai and have asked them to verify that this "design" will not create a fire or electrical shortage. Hyundai consumer affairs case#: 10086770 (3/24/17). After several unsatisfactory conversations, I was given a supervisor named ally. Ally was polite and assured me he wanted to get some resolution. He called back once to assure me he was still checking into it. On April 21, 2017, I received a call from a female who identified herself as ally from Hyundai. I said that was strange, I have been talking to a male named ally. She said, "I told them this wasn't going to work. " I asked her to have the real ally call me on April 24. I never heard back so I followed up Tuesday with an email, but still have heard nothing. I just want some verification that there is no way this design flaw will cause a fire or any other problem. I want to know how long the warranty will stay in place since I have reported this problem.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. While the vehicle was idling, a knocking noise was heard. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 15v568000 (engine), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the bearings on the air condition compressor failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000.

2006 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer writes in regards to replacement of drive belt issues. The consumer stated there were no issues with the vehicle, prior to the drive belts being replaced. A few weeks after the belts were replaced, the vehicle was not performing well when driven. There was hardness on the accelerator pedal, there was a slight, faint chirping, faint grinding sound when the a/c was turned on. The manager informed the consumer, the noise was coming from the a/c/panel and maybe a loose flap. However, the noise continued. The vehicle was returned to the mechanic, who inspected the vehicle and discovered the belt that was installed was not the correct one for the vehicle. However, after the original belt was installed the noise was still present, but not as loud. Also, the struts were replaced due to hearing a noise when going over bumps.

Hello, I'm not sure if this qualifies, but this vehicle has a major defect in the compressor kicking on for air conditioning (per my own experience and examining forums of other users). The a/c does not come on intermittently, especially when the car hasn't been turned on for 3 or 4 hours. This can be a major safety concern in warm areas.

2005 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer writes in regards to ac compressor electrical problems. According to the repair invoice, the ac compressor had an electrical meltdown. The ac clutch came apart and the clutch melted onto the compressor.
