My 2013 Hyundai Sonata issues: 1. My horn & left side of my steering wheel buttons doesn't work. I was told it could be related to fuses or clockspring replacement. Trip a/b and other buttons doesn't work , I've been driving for over a year without a horn because this isn't a recall. This is a huge safety issue. 2. My gears are start to slip in the transmission. I was told it could be two things it's either the transmission or speed quality censor. These cars were made either very fast or very poorly or both and this is another safety issue. 3. Electrical issues. I have to manually adjust by back light/break lights daily because they never stay in place. The whole wiring for this vehicle is horrible. Sometimes while driving the car suddenly starts to slow down. Every once in a while my radio is on but doesn't light up. Light bulbs are melting into light sockets. Electrical issues that are a safety issue for many with these model cars. Eitherway none of these issues were a problem until after Hyundai performed all of the recalls on my vehicle. They charge $200 for a diagnostic that I'm not willing to pay , theses issues came from the makers of this vehicle, these should also be added to the recall list. I'm sure if you look around online there's others who's dealing with these issue from 2013 - 2021 today. I don't think it's fair that I purchased a vehicle and have to come out of pocket for all of these repairs that should have been repaired from the beginning. These are safety issues that should be taken more serious. I've almost got into multiple accidents because my horn doesn't work. My vehicle worked fined before all of the previous recall repairs. My transmission slipping left me in the middle of nowhere until my car started functioning properly to get home. The electrical on this car is costing me money non stop. Hyundai needs to fix this! 2.

Around 5:30 pm during the day I parked the vehicle by the curb on the street with no lights on and nothing left plugged in. When I turned the car off the windows were rolled all the way up and the sunroof was closed. I locked the doors then went inside the apartment and about 30 min later the neighbors informed me of a fire inside my vehicle. I reacted quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher, ran to the vehicle unlocked the driver door manually with the key and was able to put the fire out before it spread. The center counsel and center dash area with controls for the ac, and radio were all burned and melted down. After the fire department finally arrived and took their report and left I researched what may have been the cause of this incident. I learned this is a very common problem amongst these particular types of vehicles and in 2016 the first recall was announced. These vehicles have abs modules and hydraulic electronic control units that allow moisture to enter causing corrosion resulting in a short circuit. And because they stay electrically powered whether the vehicle is on or off these short-circuits can start a fire. Hyundais number for this recall is 172.

Wind deflector previously fixed twice before via recalls came loose again. I was on the interstate with the sunroof open. Had to hold it down to prevent damage until I could get off the freeway safely. Had to manually hold it down as I closed the roof while outside of the car.

Trunk latch failed completely. Failure to release by key fob, failure to release from interior button, and failure to release from manual lock cylinder.
So this is the first time this has ever happen, I recently got gas two days prior to me finding out at the gas station that my gas door won't open. I currently have under a quarter tank of gas and have to pick up my son. My gas door is not opening, I've tried the switch in the inside of my vehicle and I also tried the manual release. The only thing that happens when I try either methods, is hearing the click of it trying to open. I took it to goodyear the tire place to get someone to look at it, but no one could fix the issue without breaking into it. Then I took a gamble going to pepboys, they was helpful but not successful. They ran into the same solution but did not want to cause damage to my vehicle. Please help, I'm low on gas and I have a family who depends on me to get back and forward.
Key fob in 2012 Hyundai Sonatas not recognized and don't allow you to start up your car using the push/start button; also, doors won't unlock with fob and manually have to be entered using actual key. Seems like some programming to the fob has been lost; dashboard would turn on and say"key not in vehicle" or "insert key" when depressing the push/start button. Apparently, dealerships are aware of the problem, but may not actually report it and treat as something else only after numerous other repairs. Youtube videos of these issues as I've described are available. Vehicle is stationery when this happens; then it would work and then stop again in a few days. Changed batteries in both fobs and still the same issue. Originally starting happening a week prior to 9/27/2018.

On 08/12/2018, I was driving my car on the highway when the electronic display indicated that I was traveling at 65 mph when I was had slowed for traffic. When I pulled off the highway at an exit the display indicated that I was traveling at 65 mph when I was at a full stop. I then noticed that when driving the car the manual tachometer was working and speedometer showed the actual speed of car of 40 mph while the electronic display showed the speed of 65 mph. While driving I noticed I could not scroll through the menus on the electronic display and the only thing showing was 65 mph. I pulled off the road and turned off the car and the display still showed 65 mph even though car was off and doors were open. After starting the car again to determine if working, all functions stopped working. The car showed traveling at 65 mph, even though driving to parking spot, and the tachometer, speedometer, gas left indicator, car mileage, temperature display all stopped working. The radio and navigation continued to work as did signals. I had car towed to dealer as it was not drivable. After car came off tow truck, all functions returned. The dealer told me that there was an active recall on the car, but it was something only the service area could see and the customers were not notified of issue for a recall. On the paperwork they indicate it is �campaign he1000 � refer to line b. � a recall campaign must be sent to customers as this started to happen when I was driving on the highway and could potentially be dangerous to owners. I was able to quickly pull off the highway, but that would not have been the case later in the week. Potential lives are being put at risk.
As I am driving my car tends to switch to manual drive from automatic on its own. The first time I was turning into a driveway and it switched to 2 on my dash. A few other times I was driving on a highway and regular raod way when it switched to manual and popped into 3 and 4.
My 2013 Hyundai Sonata has been at the dealership since July 22, 2017. The problem can be best described as my car reacting as if I was flooring the gas pedal when I was only driving about 30 mph. The car would rev between 3- 4 rpm while accelerating slightly at slower speeds. The dealership immediately diagnosed it as a transmission issue. At the time I had just under 139,000 miles on the car. Seven months later, I still have not received any of the documentation on what has been attempted on my vehicle but I've been told the following has occurred to no avail: �two remanufactured transmissions have been installed �the electronic control unit (ecu) reset and reprogrammed manually �a new ecu was installed due to the original ecu being a California state compliant computer not matching the 48 state parts of the rest of my vehicle. �several mapping sensors have been replaced �unspecified brackets �several different mechanics at the dealership have looked at the car �Hyundai motor corp has also flown an engineer out to look at the vehicle it has become clear to me after purchasing a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata and following the vehicle maintenance schedule that Hyundai is not capable of diagnosing or fixing the problem. Hyundai's inability to diagnose this issue has confirmed my suspicion that this is a manufacturer's defect that needs to be investigated.
Front drivers side door lock was making a grinding noise for about a week when putting the car in reverse or drive or park. On Wednesday, February 1, 2017 it stopped working completely. It does not lock unless I manually lock it. I know there was a recall for this very reason but when I checked my VIN it doesn't come up. How can I get this repaired as part of that recall?.

When driving 45 minutes to a hour the engine heat pours inside of car from leg area up like the windows are down in a 85 degree temperature outside. While using turn signals most of the time after signaling for a left turn to change lanes I manually turn off signal it continues to right back to left until trying to turn it off at least 5x's. During driving the car accelerates on its own if I am not accelerating ina 35 mphil area.
The vehicle has a history of losing power completely. At this point I am unable to enter the car with the keyless entry, you have to do it manually. The car was parked on the street. Once you put the key in the ignition the horn/alarm goes off and doesn't stop. It also seems to be revving while it is in park. While driving I experience little power surges from the car where it accelerates with me trying to do anything. There was also another instance where the car would not start once the emergency brake was engaged. Once disengaged the car started with a little hesitation. I only had the car for 6 months and have had to bring it back to the dealer at least 6 times.
When car is placed in drive the gear shift display will show random gears. It will cycle through all the gears until you select to use the manual shift (+/-) to ensure that you are in the proper gear. This has been an issue on others car in the Sonata line up just not this year. This problem needs to be addressed and corrected. I am taking my vehicle to the car dealer today to get this problem fixed.

Push to start does start when it's cold outside. I have to unlock the car manually since the car won't even open with the remote. I then have to struggle while in the car trying to push the start button and step on the brake. Sometimes it turns on, other times it doesn't. Its been happening since last year. And already happened twice this week.
Unintentional automatic down shift from drive to first gear when shift lever is firmly in drive position. 2011 Hyundai Sonata limited turbo 2. 0t - vehicle will automatically (on its own) shift gears from "drive" while shift lever is in the "drive" position down to 1st gear typically when driving between 5-10 mph, occasionally sometimes at slightly higher speeds. The only remedy I have found is to tap the shift lever to the left and use the shiftronic shifting to manually shift from first gear back up to drive. Have explained to two separate car dealerships who have merely dismissed it as a possible software glitch, not even allowing me to attempt to reproduce this problem, nor even attempting to test drive it to see if they can observe the unintentional unintended automatic down shift problem from "d" drive to "1st" first gear themselves.
This Sonata had electric problems from the very beginning (climate control, light bulbs, brake lights, side mirror control, window control, cabin lights, etc. ). Most of the light bulbs have been replaced many times either by the dealer when it was still covered by warranty or by myself. The most recent round of replacement was on July 3 for the passenger side headlight, driver's side turn light (yellow) and rear left back off light. I finally started to question if the fuses were misplaced. After checking carefully the fuse types and labeled specifications of both the engine and cabin fuse panels, I found three fuses in the cabin panel were not the same as the owner's manual described. They are (wrong fuses in the parentheses): fs19 20a (25a), fs6 10a (15a), and fs5 25a (20a). I rearranged all three fuses according to the specification on the owner's manual (p. 6-41). Hyundai should be legally and financially responsible for these problems, which occurred during the assembly but led to countless frustrations and even safety problems when those lights were down frequently.
