1 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

My vehicle has just gotten to the point where some days it'll start right up and then the next day it won't do anything upon hitting the the push to start, other than giving off a click from the engine compartment, but I was told it could be a wiring problem because my first guess was the problem but I had all that tested and it wasn't the battery. I can drive it to work that morning but once I get ready to clock out the evening it won't start.

2 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2017 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Over the past month my car has been in the shop four times due to it malfunctioning while I am driving it - and that is not including when I took it in at the end of August because the trunk merchanism broke and it wouldn't close. The first time happened over labor day weekend when I was on a roadtrip, out of nowhere the car would not accelerate and, like others on the nhsa website have stated, it was very jumpy and wouldn't go past 45 mph. I took it to the dealer where they replaced a safety recall in the wiring system and it worked fine for a few days before it had the same problem again. When I took it to the dealer the second time they told me the engine needed to be replaced because the engine was essentially broken and there were little metal pieces inside. It took a week to replace and then everything was fine for a few days until yesterday. Yesterday the battery light turned on and the repair shop let me know the battery was in good health but low on charge so they charged it and it seemed to be working fine. Then this morning while on the highway all of the emergency service lights (check engine, check brakes, etc. ) came on at the same time and the steering wheel locked up and it was undrivable. I by some miracle managed to pull the car over where I had to get the car towed to the dealer where I am awaiting to hear what is wrong. Do not purchase this car. After reading up on it apparently there seems to be issues with the engine and electrical system, that is extremely dangerous. I was lucky enough to not hit anyone but I could have been seriously injured all four times the car malfunctioned. All of these issues have been confirmed by the dealer to have been due to manufactural defects - something that is out of my control and shouldn't happen for a car that is under 26k miles.

3 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 11/24/2013

Walked out of store I had been shopping in for over an hour and car was in flames. The fire investigator explained it as an electrical short that started at the main engine wire harness and melted the tubing/wiring all through the engine compartment down near passenger headlight and the melting wires/tubing/rubber dripped and ignited on a pile of leaves underneath the car in the parking space. The resulting fire and electrical burn melted all rubber plastic, external belts, wire harness, front bumper, intake manifold and any plastic rubber, fluid lids, exterior parts surrounding or attached to the engine.

4 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/16/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. While driving for approximately three hours, the contact noticed that the trunk ajar warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. Another motorist alerted him that the rear of his vehicle was on fire. The contact pulled over and noticed that the wires in the trunk were on fire. He was able to safely extinguish the flames and resume driving. While driving 40 mph in third gear, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. In addition, the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. He is in the process of having the vehicle inspected to determine the cause of the failures. The failure and current mileages were 43,000.

5 Trunk Wiring problem of the 2002 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/21/2001

Right front speaker pops on and off at a stop or moving. When you use the ac button, windshield wiper, windows, and turn signals the speaker either shuts off or turns on. The radio was replaced three times, the speaker twice and the wiring and wiring harnesses were replaced. The car has been in and out of the shop with and without repairs for the same problem at least 12 times. The problem started the first night when I bought the vehicle in October of 2001. The car has had other problems with the power window motors, battery, and remote door locks. I feel as though I have spent more time at the dealer trying to get the car fixed then actually enjoying the car. I have filed cases with the Hyundai corporate office, a factory representative looked at the car, heard the problem, in formed the dealer on how to fix it. I received a phone call 6 days later saying the chief mechanic could not duplicate the problem so he did not touch it. Even though the factory representative heard the problem and told them what to fix. I have taken the first step in the lemon law, I have sent a certified defect complaint to the dealer. The received it April 11 2003 at 12:00 pm. I am just waiting on there response. This car has been a nightmare to my self and my family. Two visits ago the dealer had the car for one week. When I received the car back, the car was covered with an unknown substance (maybe tree sap) all over the hood, roof, and trunk. I brought this to the dealers attention while the factory rep was there. The rep told them to compound the car out and rectify this issue. When I picked up the car, the car was washed but the substance was still there, now with swirl scratches in the paint where they tried to up the substance off the car. Dealer and corporate will not take responsibility for this. This will be the final case for my lawyer against Hyundai.
