12 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

Driver side sun visor no longer stays in up position, drooping down into field of view. It appears there has already been a recall for this but only for southern and western states. This is a known issue and it is easy to find multiple complaints on line about this issue. Clear safety issue that should not be limited to only southern states and low mileage vehicles.

13 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/11/2013

This appears to be a common complaint, as yet unresolved by Hyundai, at least not in michigan. The driver's side sun visor no longer has tension and is permanently flopped open, obstructing the driver's view.

14 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

The sun visors both malfunctioned. They do not stay in place without being tied up. I feel this is a safety issue that they can droop down without warning.

15 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

While driving, the visor would not go back to the up position. The visor would not remain in a fixed position. This caused reduced visibility. On sharp turns the visor would swing and hit the driver in the head. The dealership said they could fix it at my expense, because of mileage there was no more warranty, and the part was not in stock that day. Online forums and Hyundai's own service bulletin TSB-09-01-003 document show that it is known this part prematurely fails. The dealership refused to acknowledge that Hyundai had issued any documents related to this issue. They also stated that Hyundai has never and will never do a state by state recall, this claim is proved false by NHTSA campaign 13v-354. If Hyundai had issued a recall when they became aware of the issue, or replaced the part proactively when my car was still under warranty I would have had a safer driving experience.

19 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/10/2012

Two weeks ago I had to replace the power window operator on rear passenger side door. Today the power window on the rear passenger side window is not working and needs replacement. The bad solenoids on three door locks were replaced. Both sun visors on the car were replaced due to malfunction. The cover on automatic car seat operators keeps on falling down. The cassette player in the car was replaced due to bad design of the original player.

21 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/26/2012

Visor keeps dropping down without warning.

22 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

My sunvisor on the drivers side dropped down and will not go back to the upright position. This is the third time my sunvisor has broken. One on the passenger side and twice on the drivers side. I have spent 100 dollars replacing the other side. I do not have any children in my car, it is just myself and my husband. This is ridiculous that it broke for no apparent reason. I have a 2004 Hyundai elantra and have never had problems with the visors.

23 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/31/2012

Traveling to florida drivers sunvisor would not stay in position impairing vision and almost causing an accident also passenger sunvisor wont stay in up position. Contacted Hyundai dealership gave them VIN # they told me there was no recall on this safety issue. Did some research there is a technical service bulletin # 09-01-032 dated November 9 states if you bring your vehicle in for service under warranty they will replace both sunvisors only under warranty also only in certain states also manufacture dates 6 March 07 to Jan 10 08 my vehicle falls between those manufacture dates but is over on the mileage also many postings online with same problems! im requesting a mandatory recall due to Hyundai has knowledge of this safety problem and is not voluntarily fixing all affected vehicles , I request that a mandatory recall is issued for the safety of the general public.

24 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/02/2012

The driver's side visor broke and now hangs down, significantly obstructing driver's view.

25 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 03/03/2012

Sun visor will not stay up and out of the way when not needed. Visor falls down into the drivers line of vision also creating a constant distraction as the visor drops down and the driver tries to move it up out of the way while driving and trying to focus on traffic, signals, etc.

26 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

The passenger side sun visor will not stay up on its own. It dropped into my side view and blocks visibility. Looking on-line this seems to be a chronic issue on both driver and passenger sides and could cause a crash. Hyundai refuses to replace at their cost as this is a one year wear item.

27 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 02/10/2012

Both sun visors on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata will not stay up near the ceiling of the car. Both slip down which is a huge distraction. I had to remove the passenger side visor and only keep the driver side one attached in case the sun is in my eyes. Putting it to the left creates a big blind spot. It is up to $100 to replace the visor and Hyundai has refused to do anything despite the huge number of people complaining about similar issues.

28 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

Sun visor is not folding up obstructing driver view and potentially causing an accident.

29 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 12/04/2011

Passengers sun visor broke and fell down distracting driver. Search on internet finds many complaints of same issue and even "service bulletins" addressing the problem but only in certain states and of course in the warranty period for years/mileage. Not feeling real confident in Hyundai fixing it based on past experience with dealer and that I'm out of warranty. Shouldn't be long before the drivers one falls down also. Maybe it will cause a crash, maybe not. This should definitely be a recall item to replace all of them once the design is changed.

30 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

The passenger visor will not stay up and although this is not a safety hazard, I have been told (by Hyundai service) that this is a wide spread problem in the vehicles for both the passenger and driver visor. I looked this up and found that there are many complaints about the visors and it should be a recall item.

31 Visibility problem of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/21/2011

Discovered another problem with 2012 Hyundai Sonata. It has visibility problems. Dashboard is reflected on to the windsheild when sun is on your left (it happened to me when I was driving south around 8. 30am). This impairs the visibility of the driver and could cause serious accidents.

33 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/26/2011

I own a 2006 Hyundai Sonata (82k mileage). The driver side seat belt warning light came on and now stays on constantly. Based on a web search this issue appears to be a common problem with this model and one that is a major safety hazard. [the reason for the visibility complaint, this vehicle also had both driver side and passenger side sunvisor fail (another safety issue for another time)] I took the car to a Hyundai dealer who did not consider the problem within warranty. The dealer did note that the cost to repair could be as much as $1500. 00 since the entire seat and safety belt system may require replacement. Follow up calls to Hyundai found that, though there are hundreds and possibly thousands of similar complaints, they have elected not to issue a recall related to the problem as they did for the passenger side. This is a very popular car model with a major safety issue that needs investigation. I strongly suspect your investigation will arrive at the same conclusion and with your help maybe Hyundai will issue a recall before someone is fatally injured. . Read more...

34 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/13/2011

Both passenger and driver sun visors will not stay in the up position, and obstructing the vision of the driver. I have contacted the local dealer and Hyundai and have been advised that there is a product recall on the 2006 Hyundai Sonata for this same problem, but not for the 2007 Sonata. I can not afford to cover this repair as it is over $100. 00 per visor.

35 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

Sun visor does not stay in poition and drops which blocks vision. Safety issue. Manufacturer will charge for repair but this is clearly an defective part issue,as there is a recall if you live in southern states.
