36 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

On my 2008 Hyundai Sonata - first my passenger side and now my driver's side sun visor does not stay in position. No matter how you manipulate the visors (all the way up, or attempting to block the sun) it falls to the same position which impairs the drivers view of the road. I have had to safety pin my visor to the roof of the car, which is unsafe when driving into the sun. This has been a problem in previous model years and Hyundai needs to do something to remediate this problem, regardless of the mileage on the car. I've also read that even if you get them fixed, they continue to break down the road.

40 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/11/2011

41 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/09/2011

Sun visor will not stay up. Falls down exactly at the height of my forehead so that if I get in a wreck, my forehead will exactly hit the "edge" of the visor and crush my forehead. Since the direction of impact against the visor is exactly in the direction of the width of the visor, major fatality would occur. (think of hitting your head against the "side" of a piece of cardboard - no harm done. Now think of hitting your head against the "edge" or end of the cardboard - major damage to your forehead.

42 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/26/2011

My sunvisor on the passenger side dropped down and will not go back to the upright position. This is the second time my sunvisor has broken. One on each side. I have spent 100 dollars replacing the other side. I do not have any children in my car, it is just myself and my husband. This is ridiculous that it broke for no apparent reason.

43 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/17/2011

Sun visor failed and no longer will remain up. It is extremely loose and points directly downward. This is caused by a design and/or a manufacturing defect. It presents a safety hazard as the visor obstructs the drivers view. Inasmuch as this problem is prevalent with this model vehicle and is costly to correct when the vehicle is out-of-warranty, it should be recalled or at a minimum be provided with a lifetime warranty by the manufacturer. My vehicle is still in warranty.

44 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/15/2011

Passenger side visor started to fall down obstructing vision. Dealership replaced the visor and now the driver side visor is doing the same thing obstructing the vision of the driver while driving causing a safety issue.

45 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/11/2011

2006 Hyundai Sonata drooping sun visor, comes down while driving. Hyundai will not recall the sun visor although this is know problem and can cause an accident. Hyundai is shifting the responsibility of repair onto the owner of vehicle which costs $80 per sun visor and an installation of $20 per visor. Basically, $200 for a problem that is not the drivers fault, but a faulty design.

46 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The driver side sun visor stopped working. It does not stay in the up position. Apparently other drivers have experienced the same problem, but the dealer and manufacturer have refused to accept any responsibility for this defect.

47 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

Sun visor will not stay up or in any position reliably. The sun visor drops down constantly with any vibration during normal driving. Sun visor droops or drops down at any time obstructing the drivers view of the road.

48 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

Hinge on driver side visor of 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS has broke and visor no longer stays up. Went to pull visor down to block sun and it snapped and now the visor just hangs there. I have to flip the visor backwards into the bracket to keep it out of view. Have contact dealership and was told that I am 4 months out of my warranty and that they will not be able to fix it without me paying for the repairs. After viewing multiple forums, this seems to be a common occurance in this make of vehicle. I am really surprised that there hasnt been a recall placed for these. They pose such a hazard in blocking ones view from oncoming traffic, stop lights, pedestrians, etc. Considering all the issues that Hyundai used to have with their vehicles, you would think that this would have already been something that they would have corrected and placed a recall for.

49 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/26/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the sun visor broke and would not stay up. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. 51 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

Piece of plastic on sunvisor support cracked, and now it won't stay up, impairing vision. I almost ran through a red light the other day because it blocks the view of traffic lights. I have read all the other complaints on this website and others, but you are doing nothing about it. Is there any other agency that will look into this and do something about it?.

52 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/14/2011

While attempting to use the sun-visor by pulling it down, the visor would not move, then made a popping sound. The visor then sagged, and will not return to the upright position. After research, I see that there have been many other similar complaints, especially in states with hot/humid conditions, such as where I live (in mississippi). The visor will not stay in any position except straight down, and impedes visibility, and becomes a hazard when getting into the vehicle.

The passenger side sun visor will not stay up and is a danger because it hangs down in view. Its in the arm where something is broken, needs replaced.

55 Visibility problem of the 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/04/2011

2006 Hyundai Sonata sun visor on passenger side broke after 60,000 miles and approximately 5 years making it just out of warranty. Passenger side sun visor now hangs loosely and does not retain its position out of the way of driver's vision. Very difficult to see properly with the broken sun visor. This is definitely a safety hazard. In a quick internet search, this is a _very_ common complaint for the Hyundai 2006 - 2008 Sonatas. This condition causes reduced vision to on coming traffic and pedestrians. If Hyundai reads the forums, they already know this is a product design defect. If they track the service incident rate of replaced sun visors on this model, they would also know this is a defective design. This is a known safety hazard and should be recalled.

The driver side sun visor will not stay up and falls straight down blocking my view while I drive.

57 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The driver side visor started falling down by itself when you hit a bump or just for no reason falling down hitting me in the head and blocking view unexpectantly. Now it no longer stays up can no longer use have taped up.

58 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/26/2011

The driver side sunvisor on my 2007 Hyundai Sonata randomly falls down from down from its retired position. This occured again this past week and obscurred my vision while travelling at a speed of about 50mph on a two lane road near my home. I momentarily was not in full control of the vehicle and almost ran off the road into a ditch due to my vision obstruction. Once I flipped the visor back up I regained control of my vehicle with my heart in my throat. I really believe that the defective visor almost killed me because it randomly flopped down, blocking my view of the road. This visor issue has been going on for a few months now and this time it really almost killed me. I will be getting this fixed next week, but there should be a recall on the part.

59 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the sun visor failed and separated from the holder. The air bag warning light also failed and the warning light remained illuminated. The air bag failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 92, 5000.

60 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/25/2011

Moved driver's side visor to block sun and now visor will not stay up and hangs straight down and partially blocks driver's view of highway and oncoming traffic which I fell is a serious safety hazard. Problem has not been corrected.

61 Visibility problem of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/15/2011

Drivers sun visor will not stay up and just dangles at eye level. Very dangerous as your vision is blocked by the visor.

62 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/10/2011

The driver side sun visor fell down while driving and will not stay in the previous locked position. Internet searches show many other drivers with this same issue and all being told that a repair out of warranty is over $200 for a visor. This is a major safety issue and I have tried everything from velcro (works until it get hot and then falls off) to bungee cords, rubber bands, and even a magnet. When you do needs the visor to protect from the sun all of these temp fixes prevent the safe switch to flipping down the visor. At first you could position the visor to block the sun now it just hangs straight down.

64 Visibility problem of the 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

I am writing to complain that both of my sun visors in my 2007 Hyundai Sonata will not stay in the upright position. From researching this problem it sounds like I am among thousands of Hyundai Sonata owners having the very same issue. I contacted my local Hyundai dealership and they said this item is not covered by the warranty, or extended warranty, and the cost will be over $100 each! this is ridiculous. This is a safety issue, and I believe that it should be a covered item, or better yet, it should be a recalled defect!! thank you.
