The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v746000 (engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the hybrid system warning illuminated. The vehicle was towed to lakeland Hyundai (1500 w memorial blvd, lakeland, FL 33815) and was diagnosed as a blown head gasket failure. The contact informed the dealer that the failure was related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer for several weeks. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The contact was informed by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The contact was informed that if the failure was not related to the recall it would be an out of pocket expense.
