1 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

The car's transmission fails to power the car sometimes. When pressing the accelerator the engine will rev up but the car will not move. There was a recall for this problem but the work they performed did not fix the problem. When driving the car the driver does not know what to expect. Hyundai claims this is normal operation. This problem has been ongoing for the past 6 months. It's a very dangerous problem and something should be done to make Hyundai really fix the problem.

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson eco with 1. 6t transmission problem. Vehicle transmission will fail to move vehicle forward at times and has caused us to be stuck in an intersection numerous times even though vehicle says its in drive. Rpms just rev to redline but vehicle will not move until you let off the gas and let it idle back down to idle engine speed. Then you can try it again and it drives normal. One time had to shut entire vehicle off in the intersection and restart it to get it to move.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2016

The vehicle is Hyundai's new fuel cell model. On 3 separate occasions over 7 months the vehicle lost power while on a highway. The last occasion, November 7, 2016, I was in the left lane near the fast lane on the glendale freeway at about 9:30 am. The vehicle suddenly lost power and, since there is no left hand shoulder, I had to coast across several lanes of fast moving traffic to try to reach an exit ramp. After several minutes of not knowing what was happening to the vehicle, I gave the gear shift lever a nudge to the right. I heard a slight mechanical sound and the transmission re-engaged and I regained full power. The vehicle had nearly a full tank of fuel at the time. This same thing happened to me in the April/may time frame when driving on a highway in san diego county (about 1/2 tank of fuel) and then again in early July, 2016. When I was driving on the golden state freeway near griffith park (not sure of the fuel this time). Both times, without warning, the vehicle suddenly lost power. It coasted for several seconds but these two times -- after less than a minute -- the power reengaged, or self corrected, on its own. The November 7th incident lasted several minutes, and the engine did not self correct. On November 8th, I drove the vehicle to keyes Hyundai in van nuys. Since it had been over 4 months and several thousand miles since the second incident, I was not surprised that they could not duplicate the transmission failure. I do not believe the vehicle is safe to drive, however, and, since they have not been able to identify and correct the defect, have asked Hyundai to cancel the lease on the vehicle rather than continue to risk myself and my family in this vehicle.

4 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Yesterday 8/10/16 while returning home from park and ride , driving 1/2 into traffic my transmission failed again for a few minutes leaving me in a traffic situation in the middle of the road where cars had to weave around me causing another dangerous position to be in. As a matter of record once again my safety driving this car was in jeopardy with no resolve from Hyundai. Hyundai states that my case is in escalation which has no true definition as to resolve. I have no choice but to involve every government agency that handles safety and any form of media to let them know that they will not be safe in vehicles produced by this company based on the handling of my case. This is the third incident I have encountered with less than 2100 miles on the car. It is important to inform all as to the danger it puts people in. In addition there are multiple complaints publicized with the same problem , dangerous unsafe positions people have encountered and no results from Hyundai. When safety is concerned , generic generated emails from Hyundai will not prevent unsafe situations that can result in serious injury and possibly loss of life. I am stating for the record, once again that I want Hyundai to take back their vehicle for full refund .

5 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2016

Transmission completely failed in drive. This is a known condition to Hyundai, diagnosed as dct failure. Hyundai has no known fix. Car was 6 weeks old with 740 miles on it. Cat was bought new with 65 miles. Dct failed in middle of intersection leaving wife and child stranded in dangerous traffic situation. Now at dealership awaiting anything from Hyundai. This car was almost not sold to us due to a active recall for the hood latch, but was happily sold with a known defective transmission issue.
