Air bag light stays on. Hyundai dealership says that the light on means the air bags are disabled and the air bags would not deploy if the light is on. The dealership says I must have the diagnostic tests done which will cost me about $125. 00 if this is a problem with a module that controls the air bag light I don't think the repair should cost me anything. Passenger air bag off light remains on whenever an adult weighing more tha 120 lbs are sitting in the passenger seat with a small pillow or seat cushion on the seat. Pillow is needed to enhance seating comfort, especially on long road trips. Light does work when pillow is not used. Unfortunately, seat is poorly designed that requires additional after market support to make it usable on long trips. Sensor need to detect passenger weight with or without additional cushions or activate the airbag 100% of the time. I have already reported this to Hyundai, case number 10626629. They claimed the light is working as designed, only when used without after market cushion. My response is that it is a major safety defect in design, it obviously failed in detecting the total weight on the passenger seat. I believe that Hyundai would be at fault should the airbag failed to deploy during an accident and the passenger is seriously injured or killed. There are additional reasons to use cushions for health or handicapped person, for example. How hard is it to detect total weight of more than 90 lbs on top of that sest? the light remains off when car is moving or stopped. In addition, I have also experienced no acceleration on a left turn when stepped on gas, as previously reported by other's. Engine would rev to over 2000 rpm but the car us not moving for about 30+ seconds. This is a very serious safety issue when you're stuck on a left turn.

Dealership where purchased, Hyundai inland empire, loma linda, CA, diagnosed and determined a wire was severed in loom attached to passenger seatbelt that connects to assembly under vehicle (photos available). This part has never been tampered and unaware that part existed until mechanic checked and only dealership where vehicle has been serviced. I asked for an exception to warranty as this is not a moving part. There is no replacement part and the whole assembly has to be replaced for thousands of dollars. I do not have that kind of money to fix a safety issue as part must be defective if wire snapped. No longer under 60,000 mile warranty so Hyundai will not take responsibility and denied paying for this. Now my airbags will not deploy. They have advised the loom where wire snapped must be remanufactured in korea. I cannot believe that is the case when these vehicles are still being made. I need help.
