In my 2024 tuscon, Hyundai has connected their cruise control to their driver assistance function. This system includes a camera on the steering column that watches the drivers eyes. If for any reason, they cannot see your eyes they will shutdown cruise control without warning. This can be caused by simply wearing sun glasses. So this forces the customer to choose between two safety features. Cruise control which we all know has signifcant safety implications reducing stress fatique, etc. And bypass all the driver assistance systems. There are people who are putting black tape over the camera and disabling das so they can use their cruise control due to the inability to wear sun glasses when heading west (obviously even within a curve, so it shuts down unexectedly in the curve). Surely that is not an acceptable solution. Hyundai should add an option to ignore the eye checks while using the cruise control but so far they have totally ignored it. You can google for "Hyundai cruise control sunglasses" and will see a lot of complaints and people disabling safety features. Obviously there is no specific event, this is happening all the time in the us.
Vehiclr has been doing this since 4 montbs after purchase, then a recall came out we were told it would fix the problem. 3 times now since the recall the odometer screen and media screen will go blank while your driving. The car wont accelerate, turn signals, and steering colum becomes hard to operate properly. We have had to near accidents 1 being less than 2 hours in August of 2025 after Hyundai just claimed to repair the issue. We were driving on [xxx], screen went out, we lost full control of steering, had to wrestle with the wheel to keep car in its lane, we were almost hit by semi truck and ran off road. We immediately took car back to dealership, and shop assistant mgr was able to see for himself, it wasnt working after theu just made repair. They kept car a few days we were very reluctant to take vehicle back, out of these safety concerns, and my family having to ride in this vehicle. We took ot back as the dealership assured us the matter had been taken care. Then last week on [xxx], in the evening was driving down street and the screens started to flicker and the car wouldnt stay centeryed in the lane, then it happened both went blank, the car slowed down and the fight began on operating vehicle. In regards to no turn signal would go off, it wouldnt accelerate, the steering wouldnt operate correctly, if o wanted to center the car in the lane, it would pull the car another direction. A 7 minute ride home took over 20 minutes. We took car back to world Hyundai matteson, the next morning and called Hyundai corporate office to inform them we didnt want the vehicle back. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
First incident was July 2025 . Car had 1300 miles. Would not accelerate over 25 miles an hour. Made an appointment with route 60 Hyundai in vero bch, FL. They could not find anything wrong. (invoice # [xxx]) second time [xxx]. 3009 miles on the speedometer. The car would not accelerate over 4mph. After several minutes acceleration was possible. We will once again return to route 60 Hyundai. Car could not get thru a busy intersection. Very dangerous. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The forward attention monitor (or driver attention monitor/warning. . . Or something similarly named) that monitors the driver's eyes to insure he/she is looking forward at all times) is overly sensitive and shuts off the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping systems. While it does this, there is a beeping, and a text display on the dash that requires reading, it is probably a sentence long, further distracting the driver from looking at the road. . . . This potentially would cause a following vehicle, or a vehicle in an adjacent lane to make a defensive maneuver, or to have to brake abruptly, as one example. . . Basically not safe) adjusting the steering column to a safe driving position for me (the eye sensor is located on top of the steering column) also caused this system to turn off the cruise control and lane keeping systems constantly, causing me to have to raise it to an uncomfortable driving position. Also, related to this, the hvac controls have very dim indicator lights to let the the driver know the fan speed or status of the a/c, making it very hard for the driver to see it and make quick changes before the stupid eye sensor (forward attention monitor or driver attention monitor) cuts off the other safety features. I wear non polarized sunglasses to be able drive safely in the very bright arizona sun, and to see the hud which is impossible to read if wearing polarized sunglasses. I have worn sunglasses while driving for over 50 years. This 2025 Hyundai Tucson limited hybrid is the first car that has this very overly sensitive driver attention warning system and if it is not adjusted quickly will cause me to sell this otherwise excellent vehicle at a great financial loss. My hope is that it can be adjusted with a software update or physical parts update, before this causes an very unfortunate vehicle accident. It makes driving this vehicle extremely unsafe. I have asked the dealer more than once about this and they say there is no current fix. Thank yo.
My vehicle was purchased new and has less than 5100 miles on it. The screen and heads-up display randomly begin to glitch and then simply go dark. I can't see my speed, fuel or charge levels or any important data while driving. This has happened multiple times already. My vehicle is a 2025 model. Interestingly, Hyundai had the same type issue on 2024 models and issued a TSB to resolve this issue, but have not issued any repair for the 2025 models. This is a major safety issue.
The foward attention warning feature needs to be updated to allow owners to shut off the system. When traveling at highway speeds, the speed control shuts off without warning! this has become a possibilty of causing a rear end collision! please enact a solution to this problem. . Please refer to the Hyundai website for many more complaints concerning the foward attention warning features. . Thank you.
My 2023 Hyundai tuscon has 36000 miles. Started running rough with a slight noise. First noticed on wed [xxx]. On Thursday [xxx] I went to start my car and it stalled. Finally after letting it sit a few minutes it started but only to have the sgi light flash yellow and stay yellow for the remainder of the drive. That day I made an appt at my local Hyundai dealership in brandon florida. They kept my car. Fast forward, Monday September 15th I was notified that the car had lost a significant amount of oil. Car was inspected and free of any leaks. Tech stated because of the low oil & oil pressure the battery life was significantly impacted. I would need an oil change & new battery. Upon arriving back I came across an article stating that excessive oil consumption is common among these vehicles and the dealer wasn't even going to notify me of this issue. They were not honest and I want to file a formal complaint knowing that this is well known issue. I feel unsafe driving my children around and am upset that a recall has not been issued to fix this. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I leased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson from metcalf auto plaza [xxx]. Every week since then I have had to return the car for repairs. It got to a point where neil suggested he can trade it for another but each and every vehicle I test drove to replace my car was not ready to be on the road but according to them every car had just got out the shop. Instead of trying to have issues resolved the mechanics decide to make "jokes" as if your pain and suffering is a joke. Since I did not want a trade in and wanted my car fixed instead neil tried to tell me that this was my final offer which I declined because why not just fix my car? I went to talk to neil in person September 9, 2025 about getting my car fixed and the frustrations I am having because having to return the car weekly and I havent had it for a month is outrageous. [xxx] I was driving the Hyundai on the highway with my children in the car and the electricity to the car completely cut off but came right back on, I got off the highway and the car did it again and this time the wheel locked up and I almost wrecked the car. I called metcalf and the only thing they could tell me was they can tow my car to metcalf but me and my children had to find our own means of transportation. Every time I called to have my car serviced and told them about what I would hear and feel they could never make the car "do it again". I am beyond frustrated, upset and terrified because I have been telling them about smoking coming from the engine, rattling noise etc. My kids lives were put in danger and the only thing they could say was "I apologize and we can tow the car to the shop". Did not care if we had transportation and have never offered to give us any after continously getting stranded in the car. Now the car is towed to their shop once again and the car wouldnt even turn over for me to get it out of the middle of the street. I was blocking traffic and had to have the police block information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia).

Advanced driver assistance system not listed: "forward attention warning" I recently purchased the 2025 Hyundai Tucson phev limited and on a road trip the next few days later I tried to activate the cruise control when all of a sudden a few seconds later it gave a warning and shut off. I tried again and it did the same thing. I had to pull over, check the setup menu and even though this is a process to deactivate the system it does stay active. After researching this online and looking up the Hyundai manual, when you activate cruise control it automatically activates lane assist which automatically activates the forward attention warning which, at that point, deactivates the cruise if you are either wearing sunglasses or blocking the view of your face from the steering column camera using say your arm. The "assistance" does not allow you to drive with your arm at the top of the steering wheel, I was getting tired using both arms on each side and had to give one of my arms a rest only to realize this was an issue and couldn't. Add to this that it was sunny and could not use sunglasses as the camera couldn't see my eyes. I researched this online and there's several recent videos and reddit messages across various platforms that this is a major issue for people and a serious risk for some as they can not use sunglasses on sunny days and the fact it automatically deactivates after a while. All it would take is to actually have this fully deactivated where it's listed in the driver assistance section.
Concern: daw driver monitoring system false alerts shuts down cruise control. Safety issue when passing on interstate and suddenly the cruise shuts off and has to be reset. This warning sometimes goes off randomly and not due to driver attentiveness. If my arm is in top of steering wheel it blocks camera and wearing certain types of sunglasses. This system is asking the driver to not put his arm on top of wheel which is ridiculous.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light with five vehicles in front of her, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into several unknown vehicles. The driver swerved and crashed into a cement truck to stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. A woman occupying another unknown vehicle sustained head injuries. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver did not sustain any injuries. There were no reported fires. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 2,900.

On long road trip from TX to MA started before dawn and route initially [xxx] . With sunrise route was into sun and so I used my sun glasses. Within a few minutes a warning gong and light on instrument panel litup. I did not know what the cause was and then unannounced the adaptive cruise control lane holding and steering shut off and the vehicle seemed to brake quite vigorously. There were a few cars behind me and due to my vehicle suddenly slowing down they had to brake unexpectedly. They then honked at me and passed quite aggressively and gesturing their displeasure with me. I called Hyundai tech support they where of no help. I asked for a manager - who called back and I was told it is because I used my sun glasses! I was told it would always happen if sunglasses where used and I could not cancel this feature without disabiling the "safety" features that I considered when purchasing the vehicle on 24th [xxx]. I was told I should not use polarized glasses which my pair is not in any event. I requested to speak to a more senior rep and the next day received call from a Hyundai rep who stated there was nothing I could to over come this nuisance feature and if I didnt like it I should not have bought the car. I stated I did not know this could or would happen ! in addition every 5 to 10 minutes a warning gong, light and speech notice keeps on popping up and states "I need a rest". In my opinion too, it is also a safety issue as it is a nuisance and consistant and at inopportune times blocking gps commands some times etc. These features, in my opnion, are too frequent too persistant and not helpful. There should be a way for the owner-drver too disable the announcements but have the benefit of the features ie adaptive cruise lane and steering etc without the car deciding not to allow because sunglasses are needed. That does not enhance safety in my opinion. In my opinion the way it is programmed it is a safety hazard just suddenly slowing down information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informa.
I recently purchased this car and just took it on our first highway trip of about 1100 miles. I experienced three problems that are a safety concern. 1. "need to take a coffee break notification. " this comes on frequently and is distracting. No need to have that come on. When driving in heavy traffic at speed, this is too distracting. There is no way to turn it off. 2. Camera focused on the driver. If I take a drink from my water bottle, looking around the water bottle to see the road, the camera can not see my face/eyes. It then shuts off my cruise control, makes a noise, scares my wife, and distracts me from driving. This has happened to me in heavy urban traffic going through cities on my last trip. 3. The cruise control is linked to communication from outside the car. When driving in the mountains, there are times when the signal is lost, the cruise control stops working, the car emits a noise signally a problem, my wife screams, I lose concentration on what is going on as the car decelerates quickly and the semi truck behind me comes very close to the rear of the car. Potential accident caused by this silly system. There is no way to disable "adaptive cruise control" and resort to a system that does not rely on outside communication. The car has about 3000 miles on the odometer and I am ready to trade it in/get rid of it. I am greatly disappointed.
I was driving my new 2025 Tucson on a 2400 mile trip. On the way back the entire dashboard went black and I got a big red notice. No signal. Could not see anything. No speedometer no nothing after while a black screen went away and I got the regular screen back but it had all of the fault lights lit up. This happened periodically through the whole trip. In addition, the heads up display worked periodically only. And I could not use the cruise control as it kept telling me that it couldn't see my eyes. Although I did not have any glasses on at the time. I feel very unsafe with this car. It is at the dealership waiting for new wiring harness but as I see in social media this has happened to many other people. I think this is something you should know about.

The car keeps loosing power when it is over 90 degrees outside. On my way to work in the morning it has plenty of power but on my way home around 5 or 6 pm it struggles to gain speed. I’ve already had all the fuel injectors replaced so I don’t think it is related to that. It mainly happens when I slow down but not to a full stop around 20 mph. Then it struggles to accelerate after that.

I have raised issues with Hyundai with the first week of driving this Tucson hybrid. I have ask repeatedly to get the collision control turned off, the dealership said they could not turn it off with permission form Hyundai. Hyundai so called customer service escalated it now several times and not a single call back. I was assigned a specialist named lejo ,national consumer affairs, Hyundai motor America 714-627-9707. Because he is no longer able to help he told me it was escalated and got yet to this day to hear back from anyone. This vehicle has tried to kill us several times and the dealership and Hyundai have been made aware of what it has done. Slamming on the breaks and warning collision, pulling you almost in the ditch because it was raining? this has happen several times. The same thing when a cars turns the corner and is leaving the main road and as I move to the passing lane the car said warning and actually pulled us back behind the car we were passing and then hit the brakes and almost rear ended to car we were trying to avoid. This system can be manually be turned off by me but comes on each time the vehicle is started again. I am only asking that Hyundai permanently shut it off for the duration of my lease. Because of the safety issues with this 2025 Tucson hybrid I feel it necessary to inform the public and hhtsa. If Hyundai does not turn it off then they need to be prepared to buy back the lease, Hyundai is well aware of the problems as they have issued a TSB 25-gi-017h apparently you only are to drive away from the sun ,avoid rain, fog and snow? I purchased a brand-new Hyundai vehicle on [xxx] from dublin Hyundai. Since purchase, the vehicle has exhibited repeated, serious defects that compromised the safety of my [xxx] baby and family. Timeline of events: [xxx] – vehicle purchased new. Safety concerns arose within weeks of ownership. July 16, 2025 – vehicle dropped off for major issues: camera display failures, heads-up display malfunctions, and random security errors. Vehicle remained in service for over two weeks. August 2, 2025 – returned with the check engine light on and a scratch on the deck. August 3–4, 2025 – dropped off again; dealership instructed that the fuel level must remain between 50–70%. August 11, 2025 – dropped off again; a loaner vehicle provided was unsafe — gear shift failure, body control system errors, infotainment failure, and inability to lock the vehicle. This put my baby’s safety at direct risk as the loaner could not be secured or reliably driven. August 19, 2025 – vehicle returned with new scratches and multiple issues still unresolved. Late August 2025–present – vehicle was relocated to san jose without my consent. I only know its location from the Hyundai app, which frequently alerts: “battery level is below normal. Please check that vehicle lights and accessories are switched off to avoid battery drain. ” I have not been provided proper updates from Hyundai or the dealership. Safety risk: repeated mechanical and electronic failures in both the new vehicle and the loaner. Vehicle is unreliable, unpredictable, and unsafe for transporting a young child. Manufacturer and dealer have failed to provide a safe, operable vehicle despite multiple repair attempts. I am filing this complaint because these issues pose a serious safety risk to me, my infant child, and other drivers on the road. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The message “consider taking a coffee break” will pop up just 15 minutes into a trip. This message beeps prior to flashing on the screen which causes us to take our eyes off the road to determine what is beeping and continues to “alert” us often during our travels. Hyundai has not provided a way for this warning to be deactivated. Hyundai has way too many messages beeping and appearing on the screen that causes distractions and has not provided a way to turn them off. As for the speed control, my ophthalmologist suggested I wear dark sunglasses due to issues I have in bright sunlight. The speed control will actually turn off if I wear dark sunglasses because the onboard camera cannot see my eyes. Also, the speed control will turn off if I’m making a turn and my arm gets in the way of the camera. This is extremely dangerous that the speed control just stops. We also will get beeps and a message on the screen if the camera cannot see our eyes, even when we are looking straight ahead. Again, this causes us to see what is beeping and what the message says. This is a distraction that causes us to take our eyes off the road. Terrible design.
The dash cluster stops working (cant see your speed or other info) goes out for a second and then comes back on. It continues to randomly do this. Once it does this the hud heads up display goes out as well.
For the second time in a year, I was pulling into a parking space and when I applied the brake, the car accelerated, seemed to be airborne and lurched forward. Though I firmly had my foot on the break, it would not stop until it hit a brick post about three feet away. This exact same scenario happened in July of last year. Then, I hit a stand of shrubs. Someone said, your foot must have slipped off the break and hit the accelerator. I said, “I don’t think so. ” yet, I took the blame for the accident, for I could not believe it was a car malfunction, nothing close to this had happened to me since I owned the car. Everything was the same in the last crash as in the first. This time, as soon as the car accelerated, I checked, and my foot was firmly on the break. There is definitely a malfunction in the car. The black. Box should be recovered and read by someone not associated with Hyundai. I checked on Hyundai Tucson owners’ group on facebook, and my incident has been reported by others.
I purchased a new 2025 Tucson limited hybrid model. I owned it for five days when the dash display went blank, leaving me without any speedometer, warning indicators, or safety features, such as lane departure warnings. There is a manufacturers bulletin on this defect. Took it back to the dealer, and they tried to sort it out. They kept the car for a week and indicated that it was fixed. I picked up the car, and in 2 blocks it did the same thing. Car is now back at the dealer. I believe this is a significant safety concern, as all safety features should be visible, especially the speedometer.
Component or system that failed: after a routine oil change at rick case Hyundai of roswell on Saturday, \[insert date], my 2022 Hyundai Tucson began shaking significantly. The dealership later informed me the issue was related to a **malfunction in the fuel injector system**. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: the shaking occurred immediately upon driving away from the dealership and worsened rapidly. I was concerned about losing control of the vehicle orengine stalling while driving, which could pose a danger to myself, passengers, and others on the road. I returned the vehicle immediately to avoid further risk. Reproduced or confirmed by dealer or service center: yes, the problem was confirmed by the dealership (rick case Hyundai of roswell). They diagnosed the issue as being related to fuel injector failure. I am waiting on a written report and confirmation of warranty coverage. Inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, or others: at this point, the issue has been inspected and diagnosed by the Hyundai dealership. It has not been inspected by police, insurance, or any other outside parties. Warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before failure: warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before failure: yes, the check engine light turned on shortly after I noticed the vehicle shaking. The symptoms began **immediately after the oil change**, and the engine light appeared as the shaking worsened. There were no prior warning signs before this incident. This suggests a sudden failure, possibly related to the fuel injection system*, as diagnosed by the dealership.
While driving, my entire dash will go black. At times, all warning lights will also light up. There is no way to know how fast I am going since the display shuts down. Heads up display also goes out with warnings as well. With all warning lights coming on, there is no way to know if there is truly an issue with the car. The car was taken to the dealership and the cluster was replaced. This did not fix the problem. The car is now back at a dealership with no answers. I do have a case opened with Hyundai as well. Case # 41048985. I am a part of a facebook group were an additional 19 people have also said they have experienced the same issues. There seems to be no real concern from Hyundai. Safety risk - speed visibility, warning lights, overall safe operation problem as been confirmed by the dealership no issues with the vehicle prior to this.
My catalytic converter caught on fire a couple months back then I hit a code for the knock sensor replaced it and it started to act up again I can’t go over 49 burning oil took it to Hyundai now they are saying my engine is going out and I’m still panting carmart got the car.
The driver attention warning is a dangerous feature that can't be turned off. It is constantly going off requiring that I take my eyes off the road to see why it chimed. I am a disabled veteran with an eye condition that requires me to wear very dark glasses in bright sunlight. The car is not drivable with my glasses on as the camera can't see my eyes. I was almost involved in a serious accident on i459. As I drove between an 18 wheeler and another SUV a red light on the dash and a message flashed that stated "regain control of the car". The system slammed on the brakes which caused the car behind me to almost hit me at 70mph. This occurred in heavy traffic at approximately 8:30 am. I almost lost control of my SUV.
Sole owner of 2017 Hyundai Tucson with approx 55,700k miles. Check engine light on and car not accelerating properly. Had same acceleration problem a year ago without engine light, Hyundai dealership stated I needed software update on anti judder gds, update was completed by Hyundai and the issue has reoccurred.
2023 Hyundai Tucson with just over 14,000 miles failed to accelerate. After completing a right turn the vehicle seemed like it went into neutral. A green warning light appeared stating limit 20 mph. I now know this is “limp mode”. Turning the vehicle off and back on seemed to resolve the issue. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. They found nothing wrong. I was told to take a picture of the warning next time. I was fortunate to not have caused an accident. This is incredibly dangerous.
1. Sometimes vehicle does not start. Only starts if battery reset button pushed. 2. Sometimes vehicle while moving has delayed braking after juddering. Only stops when car stopped and restarted. 3. Sometimes vehicle while moving suddenly revs, rpms spike until car stopped and restarted. Engine revs but does not shoot forward. 4. Spookiest of all, while moving car suddenly stops accelerating. Pedal on the floor and it is coasting to a stop. When car stopped, and turned off, then it will work. Had we been on the interstate we would have died, these incidents were sporadic and occurred on and off during the month of April and may. Each of the above occurred numerous times to different drivers. Service at two locations were unable to id. We sold the moving death trap to one of the Hyundai dealers who could find no mechanical problems with the vehicle. The vehicle was terrifying to drive. There are other reports on this vehicle of these issues . . . Which appear to be electronic. Hyundai has good engineers. They know what is causing this and simply do not want to replace a very expensive but obviously failing electronic control module.
My car has been burning oil for over a year. There is no leak. I have been putting three quarts in every 4 to 6 weeks. I have now replaced two coil packs and the spark plugs. My engine light is on because it said 3 and 4 was misfiring so I recently replaced those coil packs and now it said spark plug and I replaced it again as well. So the engine light coming on and what it says the problem is is wrong. Now when I push the gas it is knocking or missing. Not sure how to describe it. No one has looked at it other than a friend that is a mechanic and he says its probably the engine because this kind of car has these problems.
The vehicle was brought in just after a month of owning it due to it was accelerating slow and driving bad salesmans sent it to Hyundai dealership for diagnosis and it came back that the motor needed to be replaced due to recall vehicle was in repair shop for over 3 months to get a new motor once returned the very next day the check engine light came back on so I brung it back to the Hyundai dealership per hub city's salesmans instruction to have vehicle diagnosis again. Hyundai advised that the vehicle needed a catalyst converter among other codes detected on vehicle.

-auto start/stop "feature" since there is no way to permanently disable this feature I forgot that it was on. While stopped a stop light I was unable to move when the car behind me could not stop due to the wet roads. If the car behind me was unable to swerve in time I would have been rear-ended. By the time the engine started the car behind me was in line with my back seat. No amount of gas saving is worth being immobilized essentially in a emergency situation. - forward collision avoidance is way too sensitive, in the same trip as above a car hit their brakes approximately 6 car lengths in front of me to turn into a parking lot. The car in front of me did slam on their brakes to make the turn. As I took my foot off the gas to slow down the "safety feature" activated, applied my brakes and almost caused the car behind me to rear end me. I was going roughly 45 mph and the car behind me was roughly 2 car lengths behind me when the "safety feature" activated. The sensitivity of this system is way too high and will wind up causing more accidents then it prevents.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the manual speed limit assist erroneously activated causing the vehicle to suddenly decelerate, and the vehicle failed to exceed 20 mph. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
