1 Wiper problem of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/08/2025

The panoramic sunroof in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson limited shattered while driving on the interstate. It sounded like an explosion and frightened me while driving. I was able to maintain control of my vehicle, and fortunately, my headliner was closed, preventing glass from falling on me. The flying debris created a hazard for other drivers. I took my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership where I purchased it, and I am awaiting a response from the service manager for repair. The vehicle is less than a year old and has less than 9,000 miles on it.

2 Wiper problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 09/22/2025

The rear brake lights and turn signals on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson are not visible to following drivers due to their low placement and design. Multiple drivers have nearly rear-ended us because they could not see when I was braking or signaling. The lights function electrically, but their position makes them obstructed and not noticeable from normal following distances. This is a serious safety hazard and creates a high risk of rear-end collisions. The dealer confirmed the lights work as designed but cannot change their position. This is a design defect that cannot be repaired and should be investigated for recall.

3 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

While driving my 2022 Hyundai Tucson at highway speed, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered with a loud “explosion” sound. There was no road debris, overhead structure, or external cause, and no warning lights or prior symptoms. The glass shows a central hole with spiderweb cracking radiating outward, which is consistent with a manufacturing defect in tempered glass panels, not an impact. The sunroof shade was closed, preventing glass from entering the cabin, but this failure created a serious safety risk to occupants and nearby drivers. This matches numerous reports of Hyundai panoramic sunroof failures and is similar to the pattern documented in NHTSA investigation pe13-017. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Hyundai but is available for inspection. Incident occurred on [xxx], while driving from monroe, louisiana, to atlanta, GA, shortly after departure. The failure created a serious safety issue, forcing us to stop at a home depot and perform emergency repairs using tarp and gorilla tape to secure the roof and continue our trip safely. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Wiper problem of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

The middle panel of the panorama roof exploded spontaneously while I was driving at 50 mph on the highway. The car shook with the explosion. I pulled over to find a gaping hole in my roof and glass shards resting on the shade. This caused the shade to hammock down towards the driver and passenger seats making it unsafe to drive.

5 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/12/2025

VIN: km8jfca13pu091534 component failed: panoramic sunroof type of failure: spontaneous explosion/rupture from the inside occurred: Saturday 7/12/2025 at 10:30 am road conditions: smooth road, clear day (no rain or hail), temperature mid 80’s degrees fahrenheit, no other cars on road. Milage on car: 19640 initial event: driving on the road when passengers hear what sounded like a gunshot (no firearms present in the vehicle). Pulled over to the side of the road to check tires. Tires were okay but noticed the sunroof had spontaneously shattered. Initial event photo indicates rupture occurred from the inside of the vehicle and not an external force, but there was no access from the inside of the vehicle as the additional fabric roof prevented shrapnel from entering the vehicle. The glass continued to crumble as the driver returned the vehicle to the house for safety concerns. Patterson Hyundai dealer in tyler, texas, tried to submit warranty claim and subsequent appeal, but manufacturer refuses to own manufacture defect. Drivers contacted glass repair companies in the area, and companies explained they had seen this occur several times before. Evidence: initial event photo indicates rupture occurred from the inside of the vehicle and not an external force.

6 Wiper problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

I think when its hot like in illinois its been super hot the screen keeps going black!! I can't see the dashboard I called my Hyundai dealership will get it looked at seems like I am not the only one dealing with this issue. Main screen on left goes black or it has problem logos on it randomly.

7 Wiper problem of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 02/10/2025

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson at highway speeds on a clear day with no surrounding traffic, I was startled by an extremely loud bang that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of shattered glass rained down inside the passenger cabin, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This incident was a traumatic experience. The sudden and unexpected event had the potential to cause serious injury to the driver, as well as increase the risk of a collision due to the shock and distraction it caused. Additionally, other pieces of shattered glass were propelled from the vehicle, posing a risk of injury or damage to other drivers on the road. Upon physical inspection, it was noted that the glass from the panoramic sunroof was bowed upwards, which suggests the explosion originated from within the sunroof and not an external factor such as road debris or a rock. The vehicle, which is less than a year old, is currently at the Hyundai dealership pending an investigation. Given the severity of the incident and the potential risks to driver and passenger safety, I strongly recommend that a recall be issued or a comprehensive investigation be initiated by the NHTSA to prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents. Safety must be a priority, and swift action is necessary to ensure that no other drivers or passengers are at risk of similar events.

8 Wiper problem of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 01/04/2025

Automatic headlight system causes the vehicle headlights to turn on and off during daylight conditions. The lcd display in the dashboard also dims to the point that the information presented cannot be read. This typically happens on bright, sunny days with a clear sky. Vehicle has been to the dealership in excess of seven times where they've made multiple attempts to repair it. The light sensor behind the windshield has been replaced. The body control module has been replaced. The technician also tried to make modifications to the light sensor, but the problem persists. There are a number of other instances of this exact issue involving Hyundai Tucsons, santa fe. And santa cruz vehicles shown on the NHTSA site, and also when searching other sites online. Dealer technician has repeatedly documented that the problem exists. Dealer tech reported that the tech at the Hyundai helpline suggested that the auto headlight feature not be used as a resolution. While not a solution under any conditions, even with auto headlight feature turned to off, the dashboard displays continue to dim during the day. The flashing headlights represent a serious safety issue as when following another vehicle, that driver may misinterpret the flashing headlight problem as an aggressive gesture and trigger a road rage type response. The call taker I spoke with at Hyundai when I opened a customer service case said that he personally had that very issue with another driver due to flashing headlights.

9 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/15/2024

The regulators and motors for the automatic windows have failed. The windows do not remain in the closed position causing the window to slide open. The front passenger window motor failed first and the driver's window failed shortly after. Both regulators and motors were replaced by the dealer in April 2024. The back passenger side window failed in December 2024 and has not been replaced. If needed, the faulty mechanism could be provided for inspection. Failure of the closing mechanism for the windows means they can easily be opened from outside. A malicious person could break into the vehicle simply by sliding the window down. To my knowledge, no one has inspected the regulators or motors. Two other 2016 Hyundai Tucson owners I know have also had their window regulators and motors replaced. There was no warning to the automatic window failure.

10 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 11/11/2024

Front passenger door won’t open defroster/heat won’t work on drivers side.

11 Wiper problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/26/2024

We purchased a brand new 2025 Hyundai Tucson from earnhardt Hyundai north scottsdale on October 26, 2024. We brought the car home and while it was parked facing the afternoon sun, we noticed that the entire windshield was speckled with thousands or more spots that greatly reduced the visibility. It was difficult to see through the windshield. We also noticed the same defect on the other windows, however, not as bad. We contacted the dealership and subsequently brought it into their service center for inspection. They confirmed the visibility defect and ordered a new factory replacement windshield and installed it. The replacement windshield, while not perfectly clear of spots, was acceptable for safe driving. The original windshield had such poor visibility in certain conditions that it would be hard to see anything, which would be hazardous while driving. We took possession of the car after the windshield replacement was completed but still feel that the spots on the other windows are a manufacturing defect but do not necessarily create a hazard. Along with employees of earnhardt dealership, we looked at other brand new 2025 Hyundai vehicles of varying makes and models and observed the same windshield defect in many of the cars we looked at on their sales lot. This does not appear to be an isolated incident, but the dealership said that we were the first customers to bring it to their attention. We feel that knowing there are other cars on the road with diminished visibility that means drivers of those vehicles may not even be aware until conditions prevent them from seeing the road and their surroundings.

13 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/02/2024

Driving and the sunroof exploded. Sounded like a gunshot. Glass went flying. Distracted my driving and nearly crashed into another car from the loud bang.

14 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

I was seated in the front passenger seat while the car was parked. I swatted a mosquito on the top of the windshield, just right of the rearview mirror/camera area. I did not use much force. The windshield cracked from the impact. The car is not available for inspection. The crack became considerably larger as we drove the vehicle. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone yet, but will be taken for repair to an auto glass shop recommended by our insurer. There was no warning before the incident, and the windshield seemed to be in perfect condition. I called Hyundai to see if this was covered by the warranty, but they said no. I was shocked that such a small impact cracked the windshield - this seems like a defect to me.

16 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 09/20/2023

The windshield had a minuscule chip at the edge and it developed into a big crack. It seems like product defect and maybe dangerous.

17 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/11/2023

Car window regulator failed. Window could not be rolled up and occupants subjected to outside weather conditions.

18 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

Car window regulator failed. Window could not be rolled up and occupants subjected to outside weather conditions.

19 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/29/2023

Car is 7 months old. We had it less than 2 weeks and a rock hit the windshield and caused a crack, which we had professionally repaired the next day. 3 weeks later another small rock hits the windshield and it cracks to the point we have to have it replaced. 5 weeks later another small item hits the windshield and it cracks and we have to have it replaced again. Today, a small rock hit the windshield and caused a crack that we will be having repaired tomorrow. I have never had a car where we had to have a repair or replacement of the windshield more than once every 1-2 years and this is the 3rd windshield in the car in less than 7 months. My insurance has covered the costs so far except for the time and trouble of me having to take time off of work to go to the windshield place and have it repaired or replaced. I complained to the Hyundai dealership about this situation and the service manager told me "maybe you should drive on a different road". We drive this car 2 times a week on well traveled paved freeways. This is insane and makes me concerned that the glass is too thin potentially being a danger in the case of an accident. Plus when you pay 45k for a car, you would expect the windshield to last more than a month at a time.

20 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/26/2023

Since the day I took possession of the car there is a bad visibility situation with the windshield. It happens only when the sun is low in the sky and shining directly toward the windshield. Under those conditions the entire windshield has millions of dense specks or sparkles that impair visibility. I have already determined that this is not due to any contaminants/sap/dirt on the inside or outside of the glass. This is not due to any sandblasting of the outside of the glass. It is in the glass, perhaps in the lamination. The dealer, once he determined that it is not due to any pitting, denied any responsibility, warranty, or concern. It is impossible, as far as I know, to reproduce this problem once the sun is high, so I cannot prove it to the dealer.

21 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/11/2023

While driving our 2022 Hyundai Tucson, with panoramic sunroof, on the highway my wife and son suddenly heard a very loud bang, like a gunshot. After pulling over an inspection of the car found the sunroof had completely shattered and there was a large hole in the roof. Fortunately, the interior fabric cover was closed otherwise they would have been showered with shattered glass while driving. When this occurred there was no indication of any flying or falling objects and inspection of the glass shards captured by the fabric cover didn't show anything but glass, no rocks, etc.

22 Wiper problem of the 2019 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/06/2023

This is the third windscreen cracked due to stress crack,.

23 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

The front windshield starting cracking from the bottom left corner ( driver's side) upto the middle of the windshield and continuing to the right going upward. There is no visible signs of and rock damage. Also the wipers blades (when turned on wiping) don't cover the windshield completely. It leaves open s o aces when in the wiping mode. This is a brand new car we bought. This is unacceptable.

24 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 11/10/2022

The windshield wipers on our 2022 Hyundai Tucson are failing. They still work but will randomly stop in the middle of the windshield blocking our vision. Yes, the problem has been reproduced by a dealer during our second visit. The first time we reported it while getting an oil change, they wouldn't do anything about it because they said they couldn't reproduce it. There were no warning lamps or messages about the problem and it is getting worse. It used to only do it when you use intermittent mode, but now it does it all the time, regardless of mode. Our concern is that they will stop working altogether. Once it was reproduced, they had to order parts and cannot give us a timeline for when they will have the parts. It's been over a week now and we haven't heard back.

25 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 11/01/2022

Window regulators failing on all windows. Drivers side is stuck open and will not close. All others are stuck closed and will not go down.

26 Wiper problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/31/2022

When driving in dark areas with low outdoor lighting, the instrument panel is reflected in the drivers window. Aside from being distracting, there is obstructed visibility where the reflection occurs. I have made repeated calls, that go ignored, to hyndai customer care, brought it to my service dealer upon request for protocol, who could not react because it was daytime. The instrument panel happens not to be recessed as in other cars I have had. I simply want suggestions on how to alleviate the problem. Thank you.

27 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

Driver door power window control fails. Window won't go up or down while the window motor in the door can be heard operating. After the failure it is possible to manually pull the window glass up and down in it's track. The glass moves freely in it's track. The weight of the glass is sufficient to prevent the window from remaining closed, ie the glass drops down into the door if it is not held up. Window must be manually wedged or some how mechanically held in the closed position. This is an obvious theft concern if the vehicle cannot be locked. Problem identified; the power regulator drum is a plastic that deteriorates with time. The splines in the drum strip away and the power motor shaft spins freely in the drum, in both directions.

28 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

Back view mirror does not support proper adjustment for use. Mirror does not tilt far enough upward causing me to only see the back seats and not my back mirror. Unable to use mirror places me at risk when backing up or adjusting to traffic, making me unable to see emergency vehicles or police from behind.

29 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/25/2022

I bought my brand new car about 4 months ago. When I bought the car it was raining and I mentioned about the driver side wiper not working properly. They told me I have warranty and just bring it in when I can. I made an appointment and I have been there 2 times with same issue. The issue is the wiper skips on the windshield and makes loud bang when it goes to the left of the wndshield. I changed the factory wipers to brand new $30. 00 bosch and they same thing happened until 2 weeks the wiper finally just broke. I am on my 4th driver side wiper since I bought the car brand new 4 - 5 months ago. All I ask them is to replace the wiper arm but they told me until there is a recall they cannot replace it. Even though they see the issue. I cannot drive my SUV if it rains out and in florida it rains everyday. The wiper just skips while making loud screacing noise. The advisor told me that universal Hyundai sold me the car without the lining on the windshield and idk what that means. I take my car to same dealer I bought the SUV at. Please have a solution so I can get this fixed. Thank you.

30 Wiper problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/29/2022

When I back up, you cannot see what is behind you. April 2022 I was leaving my rehab building and got into my car in the parking lot and there was no one behind me. I got into the car and made several phone calls before I backed up. I always honk my horn and back up slowly because there is no clear visual of what is behind me. As I backed up my car was unable to move. I got out of the car and someone had come from the wrong way of the parking lot and parked their car behind my car and left it. About 5 minutes or more later the driver appeared and I asked why did she park her car behind my car with multiple parking spaces in the parking lot. I immediately called the police and took pictures all around the spaces and proof of multiple parking spaces and proof the car came in the wrong way in the parking lot and stopped right behind my car , got out of their car and left it parked behind my car. Again my pictures are very clear that this person was in the wrong. I have asked for no fault with my insurance company and they have denied me. I believe because when I first got the insurance they were forcing me to take a product that I had not agreed to and I reported them to the head of their company. The pictures clearly show I was not at fault yet my insurance has denied my appeal of taking “ no fault” off of my insurance record. I would like to challenge this problem because I am truly not treated fairly because of reporting the insurance company of wrongdoing.

32 Wiper problem of the 2020 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 01/15/2022

I’ve owned this vehicle for a year and a half and have had to fix my windshield 3 times. 2 of those, including replacement. After only have the car for 2 months the windshield cracked. Then after I have had to replace it twice. I don’t know if it’s faulty design, but there have been lots of complaints of 2020 Hyundai windshields.

33 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

The component that failed are the visibility with headlights being completely snow packed and covered in a snow storm. The lights themselves did not fail, but the design causes snow to get stuck over all the headlights, which continues building to a point where 99%+ of light blocked. This has occurred numerous times since owning the car, easily 20+ times. Very dangerous, oncoming cars will flash their headlights because the Tucson headlights are completely covered. Visibility is greatly decreased. Have to pull over multiple times driving in snow storms to break the snow and ice free from the headlights, only to build up again once driving. This puts not only our lives, but other drivers lives at risk. Just imagine driving in winter conditions, at night, with no headlights. Mentioned to dealer, but not documented anywhere and was not given any serious consideration. At that point we were focused on trying to get the power loss/hesitation and extremely rough shifting fixed. Big design flaw with the combination of headlights built into the grill, and with new technology, the lights must not get hot enough to melt the snow. Anyone who thinks that driving in a snow storm, at night, and no headlights isn't a huge safety issue or that this is exaggerated, I invite you to come take a ride with us this winter.

34 Wiper problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/24/2021

The headlights on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson are a road safety hazard and should be outlawed from us roadways. Turning on the headlights creates a dark shadow covering over half of the windshield from top to bottom with a triangle at the bottom of shadow at each end. The triangles can be seen on each headlight lens. Driving the Tucson at night is like wearing a pair of dark sunglasses. The bottom of the shadow moves with every movement of the vehicle which is distracting hazardous, hypnotizing and not safe. If I would have driven this vehicle at night, I would not have purchased it.

35 Wiper problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/23/2021

Excessive oil consumption. It has been confirmed by valvoline instant oil change center. After an oil change, round 600 miles the oil is to be checked and topped off completely because the reservoir is bone dry. Can not make it a complete 3,000 miles until the next oil change. The oil has to be topped off at least 2-3 times until the next oil change. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms to notify of the problem. It has been inspected by Hyundai dealership, whom at someone point replaced the turbo in the limited 1. 6l. Also, the windshield wiper reservoir decided to stop working. I have to wait until it rains or go through a car wash to clean my windshield. All hoses have been checked and there are no leaks or disconnection of the hose. The windshield wiper fluid will not come out and remains completely full.
